Oh bigbang - it could be that the pains are the cervix dilating, so not totally pointless at all.

Don't feel guilty - it's not your fault when you are in pain.

Thusnelda · 16/09/2009 18:52

Poor you bigbang, that does sound horrible. Bless your son though, he sounds like a caring little soul! Sorry your partner doesn't feel he can come home, maybe he thinks he needs to save up all the time off for when it gets really serious. I think many men don't find their work place too forgiving of paternity-related absences. The lousy two weeks of paternity leave aren't exactly generous. (nor well-payed)
Feel hugged bigbang and lets hope your little one won't keep you in agony for too much longer xxx

Minshu · 16/09/2009 19:05

Agree with Thusnelda - my DP has been told that it would be more convenient if I waited until next week or the week after (at least partly in jest, I hope).

Some friends had their first DC about 8 or 9 years ago, before pat leave was introduced. He was allowed two days off for the due date and the day after and a locum arranged for. The wife went overdue by nearly two weeks and needed an em. CS, and the boss was quite peed off about their lack of consideration. The boss was a woman and he's a pharmacist, so kind of medical - you'd think they'd show a bit of understanding!!

Hope your DH gets home soon!

AprilMeadow · 16/09/2009 19:34

Congratulations on all the new arrivals

Have a mw appt tomorrow pm and think i might turn the water works on - no way am i waiting 10 days to be induced! By my dates i am 2 days late and by scan dates i am due in 2 days either way that makes it the 24th/28th before they would induce and i dont think i can take it much longer.

I am in the same boat with the cx's, getting them every day still no pattern as such although baby does feel a lot lower down now. Have had 5 weeks of is it/isnt it and it is driving me mad. I am so blinking miserable its not funny!!

Good luck ladies, who will be next i wonder

Thanks everyone. Sorry again for miserableness.

Dp was home in time to do ds's bath thank goodness. He isn't normally so insensitive but is very busy. He keeps asking how I am and trying to be nice so I think he feels bad. Good lol, I was very disappointed in him, he is normally very caring, I must have caught him at a bad moment or something.

I don't think this is labour, pains are cramps and don't coincide with cx, maybe something will happen overnight- I hope I can get some sleep if not, I'm exhausted. We shall see anyway! I can handle pain, just want it to be useful pain and it not going anywhere is so annoying! Ahh you all know how I feel, late pg is the pitts. Bring on the babies.

Sorry for being me me me, I hope everyone else is feeling ok!

AprilMeadow · 16/09/2009 20:09

I think this stage is almost worse than morning sickness!

I was waddling wandering around the shops today getting more and more depressed looking at all the lovely skinny clothes and wishing that i could just go in and buy them all, am so fed up with my teeny tiny wardrobe selection.

Oh the joys of being pregnant and being such wonderful company!! Our dp/dh's are sure lucky to have us to cheer them up after a long day at work

Congratulations Audrey!! Brilliant news! Make sure you come and join us on the post natal thread!

Sending labour vibes and hugs to all those waiting. Hope it all kicks off for you all soon!

SF I was exactly the same, saying to DH 'you should see the size of my piles!!' - not that I would have shown him! . Now I'm always going on about my jelly belly, milky boobs and the contents of DS's nappies!! Perhaps in a year or so's time I'll get round to being 'sexxay' again!!

TigerFeet · 17/09/2009 08:22

Congratulations Audrey

Not feeling any less grumpy today

Oh bigbang, you sound so fed up . Here, have some chocolate.

Off to do school run. WIll be back later. No doubt.

AprilMeadow · 17/09/2009 09:18

Anymore babies appear over night?

Am trying to be more positive today as i was REALLY pissing myself off yesterday! Not sure how long it will last but i do have sweeties to try and make things all ok

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2009 09:36

Hi everyone

eightisseventoomany · 17/09/2009 09:58

this is def. becoming the waiting room from hell !!!!

I dont ever recall feeling like this in any of my other pg's...

this is a first for me.....
If it wasnt for hearing all these threads....I would think something is def. wrong this time round !!!

Its been 3 weeks...since I started having my regular BH's ...
they have come & gone throughout since then....
Im still tender & getting back pain, sickness & diahorrea on and off also....

never did I think these impending pre-labour signs could continue for such a long time !!!

I totally sympathise with all the ladies in a similar situation....
Its down right awful when these pains & sleepless nights are fruitless !!!

I can take pain....I am so ready for the labour....
but this is torture...

so long & drawn out....not what I had in mind at all !!!!!

I'll bet even the most patient husbands/partners are struggling too .......
I keep thinking (usually at night) how wonderful he is doing...looking after the kids, doing school run & making meals (on top of his work) just cos he knows how hard moving is for me nowadays...

I think our OH's need a huge thank you gift after all this is over....as well as us needing a lottery win for our mamoth efforts !!!!

anyways......
Back to my sitting & waiting today.....and praying once again that something may happen today

wishing you all some real labour vibes before this weekend is out xxxxxxxxxx

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2009 10:25

mumsylady, you've inspired me, can I create a new thread?

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2009 10:42

Came back on excitedly as I didn't think I'd seen you today TF - sorry to see you're still fed up

Snowfalls108 · 17/09/2009 10:46

Morning all.

No babies?

Does anyone else wake in the morning with a feeling of "oh no still in there".

Completely empathise on the piles front - been telling my DH about mine constantly, he wasn't impressed when I told him he'd need to put cream on them for me!

Thought we might be on the way last night. Went to pizza express to make the most of Orange Wednesday (two for 1 main course + free garlic bread or dough balls per person) and started having what felt like cx every 20 minutes. Was very excited, plus thought it made a much more interesting story about where I went into labour rather than just being at home. However once we got back, all the cramping stopped.

Never mind - cleaner coming today. Yipeeee.

Minshu · 17/09/2009 10:56

Mmm - had to nip out to get milk earlier, and a huge chocolate muffin managed to make its way home with me, too.

How are things today, bigbang?

Oh, mumsylady - you are right about (most of) our OHs. I did see a bit of a thread about "push presents" - perhaps the menfolk deserve them as (almost) much as us.

My poor DP had to put up with me wittering on about what the baby was up to while he was watching footie last night - look, that's a knee! - look, Torres failed to score but the other fella got it in. Then he did the washing up (I had cooked, to be fair).

Not sure that I'm quite so ready for labour, and have my moments of being quite scared. Trying to remain calm and listen to hypno birthing cd regularly.

eightisseventoomany · 17/09/2009 11:17

Im sure mine are hanging on in there....waiting to catch me out ???

As When i think >>this is def. it>mumsylady frantically searches her belly for the emergency pull cord.

eightisseventoomany · 17/09/2009 11:19

.......nope....I dont seem to have been equipped with one of those !!!!!

ba humbug....
back to slothing on the sofa then

blue76 · 17/09/2009 11:39

Morning ladies

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT - Amelia Ann born Tues 15th at 14:36. Weight 5lbs 13ozs. She is soooo tiny but all in proportion. Now I know why bump was so small!

Planned cs went really really well. Was defo a very positive experience. In nowhere near as much pain as I thought I would be....

Amelia feeding really well - she took to the breast in the recovery room, 35 mins after birth

Oh and the cs took 40 mins from start to finish.

Morning!

I'm still pregnant, and still fed up. Had a bloody show this morning though so I guess there is some progress! Have had some very strong cx since but its not turning into anything. I am in a slightly better mood but just want to be in labour now.

I'm going to take ds out for a walk after lunch/nap and see if I can start things off properly. Have done this before however, and come home so tired I lie on the sofa and have a doze- and of course everything stops. Vicious cycle.

bigbang · 17/09/2009 11:44

Congratulations Blue! So glad it was a good experience for you and that she is feeding well
