hello everyone, it's getting very restless in here isn't it?! i really feel for you all... sending strong contraction vibes, hope things kick off over the weekend! can't believe ds2 is one week tomorrow, or that we're still in hospital. good news though, his feeding tube was removed this morning as we managed to get bfing underway fingers crossed he'll be able to leave neo natal and be with me on the ward today. i realise this is all post natal stuff, but i don't feel like we're really there until we get home iykwim?

anyway enough rambling from me... really wishing you all best of luck and congrats on babies that have arrived

xx

Morning all!

Loving your revised birthplan, StayFrosty - I'm going to copy that one

Congratulations, hulihoops!!

Sorry that cxs stopped, Stealth. Fingers crossed for something soon.

Thanks for the update, JRocks - glad to hear that you are getting on well now.

Supposedly got the health visitor coming today. In spite of waiting in and keeping my ears peeled, I missed her when she was due on Monday as she arrived early and only tapped lightly on the door (she told me that herself ), so I didn't know she'd been until I spotted a card she'd put through the letterbox. Not sure how useful she can be if she doesn't understand the concept of knocking on a door loud enough to be heard.

And, I'd spent Monday morning cleaning but the house is now a total tip again, as we got a carpet fitted yesterday so there's fluff everywhere and furniture in inappropriate places, so not even anything I can sort out on my own . Whinge, whinge, mutter, mutter. Oh well - I'll sit on my bum drinking RLT, instead...

TigerFeet · 18/09/2009 10:29

Congratulations hulihoops

Oh stealth, sorry you're still here (iyswim)

Good to hear that ds2 is improving JRocks

Waiting for the MW to arrive to do a sweep [gulp] I wonder what she'll have to say about the state of my cervix? That's not a sentence I say very often

Snowfalls108 · 18/09/2009 10:34

Morning all.

Congratulations Hulihoops.

Sorry to the rest who are still here!
It is so disappointing waking in the morning and realising nothing has happened over night.

So after lots of googling yesterday apprantly the mode day that women give birth - ie the one that most actually do, is the 5th day after their due date. So that would be today for me. Any signs, no.

I think I'm going to take the approach that someone else took earlier - I'm not actually pregnant, it's just a big stomach. I've eaten too much.

That's interesting about mode date being EDD + 5, snowfalls - that's the 27th for me, which is the date that my DP reckons baby'll turn up. I'll not start thinking about the birth until then. Dunno what to do next week, now, then...

I have really just eaten too much - Tesco has started stocking mince pies already

I have no idea about the HV - must just be the way things are done around here to check the house for fluff, or something. I'm not even sure what they are meant to do anyway. I'll miss my mw, though

nitnat84 · 18/09/2009 11:46

Where is my baby!? I see many of you are feeling the same as me. I wake up every morning and think, 'Another Day! ' Starting to get emotional about it now. 5 friends have had their babies in the last 2 weeks and I am last!!!!!!!
I am 40+ 4 now.

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 11:52

hi everyone, still here, still having contractions, sometimes with half hour gaps . Do seem to be getting more painful though.
My HV visited both times in advance I think - IMO it's to check she doesn't need to report the state of your house to SS but then I'm paranoid!
Sorry everyone is still fed up If it's any help i think sever wingeing brought on these contractions - maybe a little more and I'd have had the baby by now.

nitnat84 · 18/09/2009 11:56

Good Luck Stealth!

CrouchingTigerFeetHiddenBaby · 18/09/2009 12:04

If whinging brought contractions on I'd have had this baby weeks ago

You'll be cuddling your baby before you know it Stealth

No news from SoS????

I know how you feel Stealth, everyone I know in RL who was due around the same time as me has had her baby now. I went to the maternity ward to have cuddles in the hope that would set things off but no luck.

CrouchingTigerFeetHiddenBaby · 18/09/2009 12:05

know how you feel Stealth Nitnat

nitnat84 · 18/09/2009 12:09

Crouching- So depressing isn't it? When are/were you due?

CrouchingTigerFeetHiddenBaby · 18/09/2009 12:12

Last Saturday - am 40+6. [sob]

nitnat84 · 18/09/2009 12:14

How many days do they let you go over?Booked in for sweep at 41 weeks on Monday but think I may not have it. Would rather baby came when ready but when will they make me be induced if baby still does not come?

CrouchingTigerFeetHiddenBaby · 18/09/2009 12:19

Where I live they will admit you for induction at T+12. They can't make you do anything though, you can refuse the induction. What tends to happen if you turn inductino down is that you will attend the antenatal clinic daily (I think, or it might be every other day) so they can check that the baby is well and that the placenta is still functioning. If all is OK then you can wait for as long as you want to. You might find that your MW is fairly resistant to this, but if its what you want then they can't refuse you.

I'm having a sweep today, the MW is due to come round some time before 2. They can only do a successful sweep if your cervix has started to perform, so I'm on tenterhooks waiting to find out if there's actually anything going on!

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 12:36

lol SF - hope it didn't come as too much of a shock that he'd be living with you

mummy2t · 18/09/2009 13:08

hi all, well i am still here and to top it all off i have the worse cold ever and feel like absolute crap so for the first time in ages i am hoping the baby stays put till i feel better, but i have been for a poo 4 times already today, (sorry TMI)and usually i am lucky if i go that many times in a month so i am not sure if this could be the start of something.
Dh is peeing me of sooooooooo much with coments like " i will be glad when u have had this baby " yeah me and you both you knobhead!!!!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

congrats to new mums - i am not jealous at all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CrouchingTigerFeetHiddenBaby · 18/09/2009 13:27

Right. I apologise in advance for the following post.

But

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck bollocks arse fuck bastard arse.

MW just left. Cervix too high and unfavourable to attempt a sweep. Booked for induction next Thursday. MW seems fairly confident that I will be attending the appointment. She's coming back on Monday to attempt another sweep however.

Have just had a little cry on the phone to dh.

Fucking, fucking, fucking hell. I couldn't be any more pissed off.

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2009 13:29

oh TF
I know it probably doesn't help but last time I had a cervical exam with DS at 40+1 and was told I'd almost certainly be there for the appointment the following week - he was born at 40+4. People keep saying you can go from nothing to established labour very quickly.
mummy2t, hope you are feeling better soon

Oh no - sorry to hear that, TF. Swearing is good for you, though - I'm sure I read that somewhere.

Hope you are feeling better very soon, mummy2t.

This waiting is crap, isn't it? I've mentally changed my EDD by 5 days to minimise the anxiety (I'm reasonably gullible, so it might work).

LOL at "where's he going to live", SF. Hope she gets used to the idea.

CrouchingTigerFeetHiddenBaby · 18/09/2009 13:39

Thanks Stealth .

Get well soon mummy2t, I can't imagine how miserable it must feel to be in our position and to have a cold too.

SF I saw you were on a thread about medical students in Sheffield a couple of days ago. I left Sheffield 10 years ago now but I do miss it. I couldn't believe when someone said that houses in Crookes go for £170K.. when I think of some of the holes I lived in!
