Sorry guys - decided to get a brutal with our list details. I've removed everyone that hasn't posted for ages - they can always go back on, its just that it was really bugging me that so much information was out of date

Still feeling very lethargic and very much 'can't be arsed' about stuff. Though one of my mates that I haven't seen for a while has gotten in touch today and I'm going to meet her for lunch in about an hour - so maybe that will give me some motivation

OP posts:
tinkisback · 16/07/2009 12:24

wow looks yum

sparkly - well done with list

have a great lunch

feeding and grumpiness (babies) is due to a growth spurt.
It will pass, ours just has (20 weeks). Feed, feed, feed!

Sorry you're all a bit grumpy!
LMAO @ LMAO btw

We can't cope with the lack of sleep any longer, so Tuesday morning (I think) we started GF with some success, but the little bugger still woke frequently in the night to feed.

Last night I got tough!

She went down after a full feed and woke at 10.30pm. She fed from one side and i changed her and put her back in her cot, in her room. Then 1.30am, right on cue, she woke. I made Dh go and rock her to sleep and she took a dummy for the first time
45 minutes or so later, the same thing! I went to her and did the same thing, she went off a bit faster (2.30am)
I started leaking milk at 4am so got up to express (7oz )
Ds1 woke at 4.30am and came into our bed
She slept until 5.30, I gave up at this point.

BUT she didn't need a feed so from here on in she doesn't get any more feeds after 10.30pm.

MINI-RANT
Dh had the fuckin' cheek to say (1.30am) he was shattered and needed his sleep!
Er, try doing this every night for last 5 months, then look after 4 children all day, you prick!
After I pointed this out to him, he shouted that he wasn't going to argue about it at half one in the morning!!

Today I have made the bed and eaten 2 hobnobs and a slice of toast on his side, childish I know, but also strangely satisfying, hehehe....nob!

Finally, squatting is the most natural way to poo and wee. We are not designed to sit on toilets.
You sit right back on the toilet seat, hands at the rear+side and lift one foot onto the seat. Then putting your weight through your hands lean forward to raise the other foot.
It relaxes all the ab's so passage for stools/liquids is much easier. Good luck!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 16/07/2009 14:38

Well, I just tried the loo squatting - and clearly I'm too big, as my arse was about three foot above the toilet - OK so that's a slight exaggeration, but it didn't feel right!

I was misdiagnosed with IBS years ago (it was endometriosis ) and was told that putting feet up on a stool (no pun intended ) had the same effect as squatting, you need to get your knees higher than your hips.

at DH needing the sleep, thing is, you can kind of understand it, I mean, he works and has to use his brain all day and everything (joke clearly - after my own DH's comments!)

OP posts:
Sparklytwinkletoes · 16/07/2009 14:41

Oh, and had a sneaky at the toast and biscuits - DH hates it, so I plant DS on his side and give him biccies!

Maybe if he contributed to some of the running of the house, I'd feel differently, but there's going to be a big barney soon!

OP posts:
sorky · 16/07/2009 15:11

maybe it's to do with the half point of the moon? They're clearly neither use nor ornament atm

Toilet Squat- I can imagine it is rather difficult when you're rather pg.

Moosy · 16/07/2009 15:45

It certainly is in our house, the toilet is wedged in between the wall and the bath so there's no knee elbow room at all.

sorky · 16/07/2009 16:15

Moos, here was me thinking you knew your arse from your elbow an' all hehehe

I think you might be doing it wrong ;)

NatalieJane · 16/07/2009 16:28

Am strangly too interested in this sqatting thing, I want to have a go, but a) I have no need to and b) well, can't think of anything else.... oh, I quite like having an unbroken, dry, clean, and un-smelly foot. If I stood on the loo, I'd be down it before I could stop laughing enough to have a wee!

Thanks for new thread chick

Last day tomorrow! Whoooo hooooooooooooooo Have been making plans, so far we have:

  • Air show (with my all time favorites; the Red Arrows, am madly excited to be seeing them again ) up in The Lakes on the last Sunday of this month.
  • Bowling
  • Trip to Blackpool on the train with friend and her DC's (DS2 is going to love this, he is train mad!)
  • A couple of trips to the soft play hellwith some of their friend's
  • A couple of trips into town (Which reminds me, new craze taking over Accringtons kid's, Go Go's, they are £1 for three, they go to war with them or something, I couldn't care less what they are TBH, but a pound a go suits me down to the ground, and it is keeping them busy for hours )

Rest of the time there are plenty of kids lined up to come to tea, (and plenty lined up for DS1 to go to!!) and of course, by the time school starts again we really need to have got me well on the way to my driving test if not already passed , we need to really get down and sort out a house/school/nursery, finally get our's on the market (should be at end of the month), and then the real packing up starts, and life will whizz by till xmas, sooooooo if I'm not seen till next year (yeah right!!) someone text me everything please! I'll be chucked off the list next time STT has her feather duster out

tinkisback · 16/07/2009 16:45

Sparklytwinkletoes · 16/07/2009 17:13

Tink, I don't particularly remember when I introduced them to DS, but I do remember that I was advised to only offer new foods at lunchtime so that you can be sure of any reactions - but that could just be because I was uber sensitive about foods etc because I have so many food allergies myself.

OP posts:
essenceofSES · 16/07/2009 17:23

Still trying to catch up...

DS asleep on me at the moment. Tried putting him down but he immediately wakes up and he's not slept much today. Please excuse the slow one-handed typing with left hand!

DS was weighed today for the first time in 2 weeks. He's put on a pound in 2 weeks and is now 9lb 15oz and 59cm long.

Went to Bumps and Babes this afternoon. There was a lady there from Sing&Sign. The idea is from 6 months you sing songs with them and use signs to encourage their communication and understanding. Not quite sign language but seemed to make sense! Has anyone else come across it?

Nat - sounds like you have summer break sorted!

tink - good luck with introducing meat & fish. Let us know how you go - sorry I have no experience.

Bumps - how much did DD eat?

Diege - sounds too painful for piles. I'd see GP.
Hope everything works out with the house.

LOL at toilet squats

I agree with you re DHs - they just don't get it! But then maybe they think the same about us!
Here, DH has the week off work but he seems to have spent the whole time in the garden chopping down trees and shrubs to make space for a rockery. I'm sure it will look v nice but the house is a tip and it would be nice to get some help with it!

Tomorrow I'm meeting some of the NCT ladies in the park. One of them has a DP who ís a personal trainer and he reckons he's going to help us get back in shape! It's meant to be raining so we reckon we'll just do coffee and cake instead!
I am only 4lb off my pre-pg weight now but could do with losing about 1.5 stone...

bumpsnowjustplump · 16/07/2009 17:39

Well as you all seem to have well behaved babies i think I need to leave this thread until DS catches up.... He has been up since 7 this morning and has had a grand total of 5 mins sleep since then..... DD has had 1 and a half hours........ God give me strenth...

DP woke up last night at 3 as i was huffing and puffing and he said "Whats he doing now?" to which I replied in my most desperate voice, "feeding like he has done all night the fucking little shit".... I am a little stressed out of late ...

DD managed a quarter of the cake and so I HAD to eat the rest..... Did you all see the size of it? it is on my profile... biggest cheslea bun in the world...

sorky · 16/07/2009 17:50

Would you try GF, LB? It's working for us now that she's that bit older.

No idea about meat n fish tbh Tink, I just can't really remember.
I use BLW, so would wait until Dd2 has a pincer grip and doesn't need a spoon, then I'd give small pieces of very soft fish or chicken. I think we did red meat last, but by that point she was eating our meals iirc.

Baby signing classes are meant to be rather good Ses but I've not got first hand experience. I don't usually do any groups until baby is crawling, then we go to Gymbabes and Toddlers etc.

tinkisback · 16/07/2009 17:59

hi

ses you must do sing and sign is is great

did it with dd1 and bracken is starting end of sept

it basically teaches the babies signs that they can then use to let u know if they are say hungry, tired or want more of something etc
dd1 luved it it is well worth it

bracken will be having like fish lynnaise etc

tinkisback · 16/07/2009 18:16

shall i give blw a go?

bracken is a slow gainer having been giving her purees since 4mtnhs?
asuming she will eat less with blw?
any thoughts?

GruffaloSoldier · 16/07/2009 19:36

Evening all!

Wow, I dont want to miss out so I had better try out this squatting tonight, although I dont have botty trouble and a bit of a sketchy loo seat!

Ses - a friend did baby sign with her son which is in a similar vein to sing and sign, in fact she probably did both and her son is 2 and language is very advanced - ie he said something was 'impeccable' when my other friend was looking after him it was correct usage too.

Tink - I know someone who did mix of GF weaning and BLW and was very successful. Not sure about meat though I'm afraid.

NJ - your summer sounds exciting!

Sorky - well done with DD!and LOL at eating on your DH's side, I will have to remember that one

Sorry to anything I've missed. Hello to Gyo,Ses, Kayz, Glask, STT, Diege, Moosy, IDOB, LBOT anyone else I've missed.

GC had his second lot of jabs today. I hate it! Luckily DH is off on Thurs am so he was able to come with me like last time. GC did not cry on 1st but yowled like a banshee for the second one. But only for a few seconds.

DH's school breaks up for summer on 22nd July - I cannot wait!6 whole weeks of him at home. Its going to be fab!

Diege · 16/07/2009 19:53

Evening! Has been hectic here today so first time on mn all day Just wanting to say hello, not had chance to read through. Will try and catch up and be back on tomorrow!

Kayzr · 17/07/2009 05:54

Morning,

Shopping was brilliant yesterday! We had such a good time and apart from 1 little tantrum about dancing in Debenhams DS1 was very well behaved.

I feel bloody shattered this morning. Yesterday DS1 woke us up at half 4, add that to a long day yesterday and DS2 waking me up at half 4 this morning and I feel like the living dead. DH by the way is still in bloody bed!! I am getting bloody fed up of always being the one to get up at 5am every bloody morning!!

I hope everyone is well. Maybe it's the time of year making all the men on here unhelpful.

NatalieJane · 17/07/2009 07:39

Morning

Tink, the 17th is late to go back isn't it?! Do they do the staggered starts? Will she be doing full days? Sorry also can't help on the meat thing, though agree with STT, I think they do advise to introduce new things at lunch time rather than dinner time so you can see any reaction. I started Mikey on some puree's on Monday (gave up on the BLW, he just wasn't getting it, getting frustrated because he want's to eat it, but not managing to do much more than suck it! Am hoping to go back to it ASAP though, hate all the faffing with puree's, DS2 did really well on the BLW, and is a much better eater now than DS1, who can and will pick all the peas out of a shepherd's pie, pick all the sultana's out of a scone etc. etc.)

Ses, hope you managed a good night's sleep? That baby signing thing always reminds me of Meet the Fockers "Arrse. Hollllllllllllle" LOL Sorry, it's about the only comedy I can watch again and again and still find funny! Have fun in the park!

Gruff, 6 weeks off sound's lovely Hope the jabs didn't disturbe GC.

Look at Diege pretending she's been busy.... how long did you spend trying to squat?

Kayz, Did you get anything nice? Don't want to jinx anything but my DH is still on best behaviour from when we had that blow up, so I can't moan really, which is a shame, it's one of my favorite passtimes

Well, are you ready for it?......

It's the last day of termmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

And even better......

It's FRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Is it wrong to be dribbling at the mouth over the thought of a lovely box bottle of wine tonight? At 7.37am? .....Didn't think so

(They know it's Friday when I'm dancing around their room to wake them!)

(Am only slightly pissed off that I rushed to get DS1's uniform washed and dried last night, forgetting that it's non-school uniform day today ) Oh well.

IT'S FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

GruffaloSoldier · 17/07/2009 08:09

Good morning all!

All ok here, GC slept through so obv ok from his jabs, although a bit of an explosive bum after his bath last night

NJ - hooray for Friday DH finishes early on a Friday so looking forward to him coming home. LOL at Diege pretending shes busy

Kayz - sorry to hear your DH is not helping. I have to say that my DH is a star. The three days he is at home in the morning in the week and then of cpourse the weekend he gets up with GC so that I can catch up on some sleep and then either I get up after an hour or so and he goes back to bed for an hour or he waits til GC's morning nap and then I continue to sleep and he gets into bed too and we all have a nap. Maybe you could suggest something like this?? You might need to spell it out to hi that you need some sleep too??

I keep getting tummy ache Had it for a few days. It's like wind pain but its worse every time I eat

Have got some packages arriving today from my mum for GC, am quite excited

tinkisback · 17/07/2009 08:34

hi dd1s last session of nursery today

nj - dd1 is only 4 on the 29th of aug so one of the youngest.
will do 5 mornings then a few full days then a few mornings then all the time

what sort of purees do you give mikey.
starting bracken on meat etc mon.
purees r a price pain!!!
