Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ineedmorechocolatenow · 02/06/2009 17:59

Hello all

I'm booked in for an induction tomorrow at 8am! The consultant was happy that I was suitable and that I shouldn't be this uncomfortable. She was lovely actually. She did another stretch and sweep (a bit more painful this time as she was a bit more aggressive than my MW). He's 2/5 engaged, I'm 2cms dilated, but 2 cms 'long' so it's not looking imminent. Oh well, after the stretch and sweep today, something might happen on its own overnight.

I cried a bit when talking to her and she wrote 'very emotional' on my notes . I think I'm just 'very pregnant'!

DH is off to Tesco to buy nice sandwich fillings and stuff to pack a picnic. Apparently it's going to be a long day!

So at some point in the next 48 hours (all going well), I'll be holding this LO! Got a bit scared when I read the leaflet as it lists all the pros and cons and after hearing Bigcar had ECS under GA after her induction, it's freaked me out a little.

So much to catch up on.

Looooouise - So sorry to hear about your colleague that is so awful. Life is so precious and short.

Insy - God, what a nasty bitch that woman is. What an EARTH does she think she's doing foisting her opinions on you? Grr!

Effie - thinking of you and baby Rupert x

Naat - How bloody frustrating! I hope you're not waiting around too long.

Doris - Hope your cx start soon xx

bunny - Hi there!

Love to all I've forgotten.

Wish me luck, I probably won't be on again til after the event xx

ermintrude13 · 02/06/2009 18:01

Yay Tee, how exciting. Bet I'll be weeks and weeks . Right,I'm just off to stimulate my nipples with pineapple curry whilst bouncing on a space hopper ...

MrsMcJnr · 02/06/2009 18:04

Tee - great to have a date wonder what number in the line of arivals your baby will be!

Ineed - so tomorrow it is! sending you lots of fast dilation vibes and hoping you have a quick and great birth, enjoy meeting your son and we can't wait to hear all about it!!

So after tomorrow we'll have 3 boys - baby girls come on!

June2009 · 02/06/2009 18:33

Hey Ineed, good luck for tomorrow!
How exciting :D Awww!
Do they have to do them inductions so early in the morning?

I just changed my next mw app. from 9am to 4pm. It's on my due date (sunday) but I figured if I'm still not having the baby by then I might as well get the sleep, right?

Dh didn't buy a paddling pool, nevermind at least it's not as hot as it was earlier!

Tee How cool that you know the date now :D, I bet you're really excited!

insy Gaaawwd this woman is an insult to any woman who has ever fought for the right to vote!

Seriously, who is she that she knows better than anyone else what is best? Each to their own and frankly it's all very well for her to be able to do it, some women would love to sah but just cannot afford it.
Others could not be any more miserable sah and neeed to get back to full time work for their own sanity.
In any case I think it's out of order for her to tell you what she thinks you should be doing, she might just be insecure and trying to justify her own choice.
Personally I simply have to carry on working. That's how my parents and dh's parents did it and we turned out perfectly fine. I really don't think it's that big of an issue. Give yourself time to find out how you feel about it all and what is right for you.

Someone mentionned something about nursing dresses and I realised that I have no nursing tops at all, would be nice to have one at least :S

And someone else asked what everybody is having, I'm having a girl :D

Tee2072 · 02/06/2009 18:44

effie's facebook status says: -

"Head scan clear- thank god xxx"

So things are looking up for Rupert!!!

lauraloo09 · 02/06/2009 18:45

ineed best wishes for tomorrow and sending fast dilation wishes to you

Someone asked what everyone is having...I'm having a little girl here's hoping some girls make an appearance

Another message from Effie for the juners:

Thank you all so much. Lovely messages.
He's being ventilated and has developed a pneumothorax! He had a brain scan to check for bleeding- which came back clear. Trying to express- but nothing happening !
I'll keep you posted xxxxxx

loooouise · 02/06/2009 19:19

Naat gasps of excitement about your eventful night! I'm getting jealous of all you girls with action! Hope you take heart from Ermintrude's story and it happens soon for you!

Ineed sending you loads and loads of love for tomorrow! How exciting! (Btw, I have a habit of constantly weeping to midwives, it's very embarrassing).

June thanks for the update re Effie, she must be going spare. I can't think of anything more frightening right now.

chocciedooby · 02/06/2009 19:25

Great that you got your date Tee. Mrsmc - I also worked hard at my career, loved my life pre DS, sometimes loved my job, sometimes hated it but I just couldn't bring myself to leave DS once he was here. Then when he was 7 months old I fell pgt again. That was pretty much it. I was a full time SAHM. I do sometimes wonder what it would be like to go back to work but with 3 kids now its not possible. Child care just costs too much. I have to stick to Suduko, adult conversation, reading to stimulate my mind.
Thats a big baby you are measuring to have

Ermin - You can't swing a cat in our downstairs loo so it would have to be the carpet ! DH says if baby comes fast I can have it in the kitchen floor. Our floor is rock hard marble!!!

chocciedooby · 02/06/2009 19:31

Naat - wow sounds like things are getting kick started for you too .

Keep us posted on how you are doing. This is all so exciting now. The babies are all going to start popping fast.

Ineed - good luck with the induction tomorrow I will be thinking of you.

ermintrude13 · 02/06/2009 19:38

Ineed hope everything kicks off for you beautifully tomorrow. xx

llynnnn · 02/06/2009 19:45

Ineed - good luck with the induction tomorrow, hope it goes really quickly for you and you are holding your little baby by this time tomorrow

Louise - sorry to hear about your colleague, how awful, hope his family get some answers about what actually happened to the plane

Insy - ignore that stupid woman!! no one can tell you what to do grrrr! so annoying!! everyone is soooooo different. since having dd i have worked part time (3days a week) firstly through neccessity, but i have found as time has gone by i actually enjoy/appreciate my job more now than i did before dd and enjoy the space, adult company, chance to do something for ME etc etc that i didnt before hand.

Tee - great that you have a date to work to! brilliant news!

Effie - sending much love to you and Rupert x

June - dont blame you for changing the time, definitly get some sleep while you can, especially on a sunday!

laura - i have felt like the baby was going to fall out before, think they push down so low sometimes. i have also felt like she has been headbutting me and trying to push her way out but my body just wont let her!!

Doris - hope you got on well at your appointment, wonder if you are having your baby right now, good luck!!

well i've had a rubbish day today, its been far too hot, i'm narked that its my due date and NO sign of baby, dd has been running rings around me all day not listening/tantruming/throwing things etc etc, and i've spent most of it panicing how i'm ever going to cope with 2 dd's! (has everyone with more than one or 2nd on the way felt like this??) its been horrid! could do with a big glass of wine now, no such luck hey!!

blueberrysorbet · 02/06/2009 21:21

insy, she sounds dreadful, if she brings it up again just say your husband has asked you not to discuss it further i had a complete stranger start berating me about having a c section (for medical reasons). i butted in and said " its all arranged and i'd really rather not discuss it so close , ie 3 days away. Apart from that, I don;t know you!" she just kept talking! i walked off- am nervous enough without a scaremonger!

llyne, hope it goes well. I am in the middle eeast, not the UK, so have no idea what they do there at diff hospitals. you could always check on the labour talk thread with the doulas- lovely LULUMAMA

mrsmac, my lo inside has been scanned and is tsame weight as yours, and it feels it, so heavy, like a sack of spuds tied round me.

june, also the bumper strings- baby could chew them and choke. saying that if you are doing feet to foot, baby won;t be near the bumpers at its head and they can't move on their own for a few weeks at first. if baby is in sleeping bag, should keep draughts off if any.

last day just me and ds 2moro. seems v surreal. am planning our day. am also typing up his fave bedtime stories as dh is not british and doesn;t know them off by heart

forgot who asked, but no, dh can't leave early- the restaurant is full wed eve already plus private dining- he said he will try and get out.

bigcar · 02/06/2009 21:27

congratulations to effie Could someone please pass on our best wishes as we're sending very positive vibes and huge hugs Ruperts way from the bigcar household.

Hope fully will get a chance to catch up tomorrow with all you other lovely ladies, thanks for all your kind wishes over the last few days much appreciated! More babies soon please

silkcushion · 02/06/2009 21:29

Evening

Lots going on I see.
Ineed - wishing you well for tomorrow
Tee - good news that yr cs is booked and you can properly count down.
Naat - sounds like the triple whammy worked for you. Lucky girl it looks like you might be early.
llynn - I've no idea how I'm going to manage with 2 dds.
Insy - on the work front yr church 'friend' would think I'm a dreadful mother. Dd has been in nursery f/t since she was 4 months old and this lo will be aswell. Had to do it through financial necessity but I was also amazed to discover I missed work It's not easy to be a f/t working mother (constant compromise) but tbh I'm not sure I'd be any good at being a sahm (sad to admit but I discovered my limitations)

No sign of anything here - in fact at this rate I'll have to kick myself on to the July thread

Wish you all a good night's sleep

bigcar · 02/06/2009 21:32

ineed, good luck for tomorrow You'll be fine I'm sure, don't let what happened to me affect how you're feeling, I was one of the very, very, very small % of women who's scar from previous cs decided to rupture, would have happened whether induced or not iyswim! Looking forward to hearing about a very straight forward birth from you

silkcushion · 02/06/2009 21:34

Hello Bigcar - how''s yr scrummy new baby doing?

And how are you after last week's dramatic events?

Tee2072 · 02/06/2009 21:38

Okay, new thread rule...no coming back and posting after giving birth without pictures!! bigcar I'm talking to you!!

ineed good luck tomorrow!

Does anyone else who is having a scheduled CS have to go in the night before? It may be because of my diabetes...

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 02/06/2009 21:54

Hi all,

Good luck I need for tomorrow very and likewise to you blueberry for thurs.

Bigcar lovely to see you back again and I hope you're feeing ok.

Tee- congrats on the date whooooo it's so exciting.

Effie- what a relief just take each small piece of postive news as a nother step closer to holding your LO and getting him safely home X

LLynn- I panicked a little at the thought of 2 but you do adapt and as you've done it all before there is less (still some but less) anxiety about doing stuff 'right' iykwim

Hi to all the other juners

Right my day, ummmm have not cx since this morning properly, went in for check up, LO fine having vague irregular cx on monitor but nothing I could feel. MW doesn't believe my waters have gone ( I on the other hand am convinced) have been walking around the hospital for the last hour and a half to get a sample in a pad but nothing doing!!! (last night was going thro pads at a rate of knots).

Had a speculum examination which showed some 'unpleasant disachrge' which the mw thought could be thrush and so now have a canesten pessary for tonight and have checked with the dr and can still gohead with the sweep tomorrow.

DD's are at my parents as we were up all night last night, and weren't sure what was happening! so off to bed for me in a mo to catch up on much needed beauty sleep. I am sooooo fed up I just can not express. Beginning to think I will be heavily pregnant forever.

Right night all,

Naat · 02/06/2009 22:03

Hello lovely Juners!!

Tee2072 · 03/06/2009 05:55

Good morning Juners!

I've been up since 3. Too excited to sleep, I think. Its gonna be a long week!

I hope everyone has a lovely day and we have lots of lovely babies born!!!

daisy5 · 03/06/2009 06:59

Good morning Juners,

So pleased effie that Rupert's initial scans etc are looking good. Thinking of you.

Ineed - you must have gone to the hospital by now so can't wish you all the best, but excited to think that the next time we hear from you, there will be a littleIneed probably saying 'I need my nappy changed, I need some milk'

naat - you really did get things started with your 'triple regime'.
doris - know how you feel. I hope something happens today.
blueberry - hope you have a lovely day 'preparing' for tomorrow.
bunny - lol at watermelon - a very large, very active watermelon!
erm - love the idea of your Life of Brian kick-off.
bigcar - happy to hear you are home with Edward. I hope you are getting lots of help.
mrsmcjnr - buenos dias mrsmc
loooouise - so sorry to hear about your friend on the Air France flight. That is so very sad. I hope it was sudden and so not horribly frightening for the passengers on board. When I was young, our neighbours, a Dutch couple flew back to Holland to see family, leaving their four children at home. The plane crashed into the sea as well. I was too young to understand but I think back about how sad it was for the who were girls all adopted out - thankfully the two youngest to the same family. How these disasters can tear families apart .

I had a funny day yesterday. My hormones were all over the place and I was quite 'low' but my headache, cramping and nausea were gone and so I was finally able to do some work on my final photography assignment which was comforting - I will try and get further on today - and don't really mind the baby not coming, so long as I am not feeling 'unwell' like over the past 2-3 weeks. Baby still wiggling and kicking so I'm not worried about him. When I did a big poo last night, the head descended some more till the point that my entrance was numb and tingling!!!
