I hope I've done this right - here is the new thread...and hopefully the last in ante-natal

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bunnymother · 03/06/2009 07:40

Morning ladies!

No baby, no symptoms and no idea when she will arrive! Tried the triple regime as followed by Naat, but with no difference at all. Although I did get woken by the old "1, 2" punch to the bladder

Thinking of you, Ineed and then how exciting Blueberry for tomorrow, and Tee now you know your date too!

Thinking of you, Effie and your darling little Rupert.

Daisy - how terrible for those little ones to lose their parents, then each other by being adopted out!!

Maybe if I waddle around doing housework and continue staggering through the mountain of paperwork we have, baby will come just to relieve me of the tedium??

MrsMcJnr · 03/06/2009 09:00

Hey ladies just checking in baby kindly left our anniversary to us and we had a lovely meal and got home after 1am, exhausted today but we had a lovely time and even some sex (not out you understand....) speak later off to soft play with DS, hope everyone is well

Ineed - thinking of you hon

Effie - Rooting for Rupert here

June2009 · 03/06/2009 09:18

Hey, just checking in, still here and still no baby either.
She was moving loads yesterday and I had the odd kick here and there, I even felt a bit crampy for about half an hour but that's it.
People have started freaking out when I call them "You in hospital?", "ANY NEWS?" "Got that baby out yet?" etc etc.
I've planned a big day of work, we'll see how that pans out. I usually get distracted by "baby stuff".

Going round the shop looking for toys yesteray we noticed there wasn't a whole lot of entertainment for newborns, I guess they really don't do that much for the first few months, do they?
We bought a mobile to put on the cot and when we switched it on and it made me cry. I just want her to be here and hold her :D
I'm still anxious about motherhood and wondering what to actually do with our daughter once she's here but really eager to get stuck in now, a bit fed up with just reading books iyswim.

I hope some more babies come today, take care juners!

LittleSarah · 03/06/2009 09:25

Nothing happening here. Had a depressing thought, all these things that I have been jumping at and wondering if they are early/pre labour symptoms, crampy pains, lower back pains, extra discharge, actually a few week ago I would have just assumed they were normal pregnancy twinges, they probably mean nothing!!

Lol, anyway, not due until Saturday so I'm trying to be relatively patient until then but just so uncomfy.

Today should be my last really busy day, maybe after it my body will realise I'm completely ready... or not.

Yes, totally cleaned kitchen yesterday, looks great and makes me happy! Today I will finish my research (whoop whoop!), then I'm cleaning dd's room, doing some dusting and hoovering, then out to buy last few bits and pieces before yoga. Then hopefully, r e l a x i n g.

Doris - You've really been through the onfusing labour mill, come on baby, let's go, it's time!

Tee - Great news about your date! Wonderful to know when baby will be here.

GOOD LUCK Ineed! Laura - I have also had lots of nausea, and yesterday morning lower back pain, but no show/mucus/cx or labour! I can only hope it means it isn't too far off...

Llynnn - You've just past your due date haven't you? How frustrating for you! Just cruel to keep you waiting like this.

Naat - Hope your regime has worked!

I really just want the excitment of labour starting, properly of course! I want to see how dh reacts, how it goes and then get a baby at the end! Oh well... you never know... could be any day...

silkcushion · 03/06/2009 09:28

morning presenting myself for registration - no bambini here

No flipping cooler either and everyone said the weather was changing today!!!

Off ro a nap now as I had a crap night's sleep, picking dd up at midday for our mn meet up later (very exciting but a little strange)

We're going to a pyo strawberry farm which has a soft play area - sounds like a fab location to me

Have good days

llynnnn · 03/06/2009 09:57

Going to enjoy a morning out at the beach with dd and have a friend coming round after lunch so hoping today will pass by quickly and I originally thought baby would come tomorrow (heres hoping!! ) so we'll see!

.

Naat · 03/06/2009 10:10

Hey Juners!

Well, the curry + pineapple + sex regime didn't work yest (sad) I lost my plug, though, so hopefully things aren't going back that badly (hopeful emoticon). Up at 2.30 hungry and not feeling sleepy at all. Luckily I managed to go back to sleep at about 3.30. Here's hoping baby comes soon!!!! Please please please, let it not be Saturday, GOD!!! Cross your fingers for that, Juners, please.

Hi choccie, ermin, llynn, louise and the rest of the juners!!!

Right, MW appt today at 11.30, let's see what she says about all this. (Smile) I'll keep you posted, ladies!! Have a lovely morning!!

(((Waves)))

chocciedooby · 03/06/2009 10:28

Just checking in.
Hope your appt. goes well this morning Naat. Daisy - That is so sad about your neighbours leaving their 4 kids behind and them being split up. How devastating. That story will be embedded in my mind now and will give me the kick up the bum to do something about a will. We wrote a short one out last year but it needs updating and no-one actually witnessed it. Want to get a proper one drawn up after the birth of this lo.

Lynnn - Hang in there girl. Baby will arrive soon.

Silk - Enjoy the strawberry farm. Sounds a lovely day out. I feel like a very lazy mum as I simply don't have the energy to take the boys anywhere in this heat. It is a bit cooler today thank goodness. Didn't have a very good nights sleep either. 3 times to the loo and then DS2 woke wanting PJ bottoms back on. (I had stripped them down at 10pm as kids were sweating buckets).

*Littlesarah - I have been getting all those wierd twinges, back pains etc too. I am getting so much movement from my baba that I really think its too happy in my tummy to be making any early appearances.

Blueberry - Good Luck for tomorrow

Bigcar - Any pictures of baba yet? Would love to see them. Are you getting lonely waiting for the rest of the Juners to pop?! .

MrsMc - sounds like you had a lovely anniversary. And you scored!!!!! Lucky you .

June - I'm sure you will be a great mummy.

Bunny - so you are doing the triple regime as well! I have not bought any pineapple, have not eaten any hot curries and have even been forgetting to drink my RLT! I really must get my act in gear.

Was supposed to be minding my BFs lo this morning but she has cancelled as her kids are sick so I am going to spend the morning doing ironing and laundry and should manage a bit of feet up time too

LittleSarah · 03/06/2009 10:33

Choccie - Yes lots of movement here too! Just want him/her to quieten down and make their way oot!

Naat - Loss of mucus plug... ohh I'm so jealous!

June2009 · 03/06/2009 10:48

naat Also about that plug , I haven't got any specific sympoms what-so-ever.
Your triple regime must be working :D I'm not so keen on curries though so I'm going to give it a miss.

Well my big "work" day has started with making some tomato sauce for the freezer, not exactly what I had in mind for today.
Let's see if I can get back on track and do some paperwork

blueberrysorbet · 03/06/2009 10:57

hi tee, am having my scheduled cs 2moro (eek!) and go in tomorrow- have to fast after midnight (so no getting up eating frosties) i know when i was in the uk, people came in early the same day even if had gd- think this was because they may cancel if LOTS of ladies go into labour and take up beds

have spent morning drawing pics/ painting from 6.30am (!) cuddles and clearing up wee (potty training) am expecting little friend of ds this afternoon to take mind off everything. dh furious as kitchen issues mean he will be vvvv late this eve, aftermidnight. have tried not to sob, but am quite scared of the op etc.

sounds like some babies are on the move, very exciting... keep checking the thread out

daisy5 · 03/06/2009 11:16

Oh blueberry - you are in the middle of potty training too. My daughter is on her fourth pair of panties and trousers for the day!!! I hope you are having more luck.

Don't be scared, so many cs are done that they must be very good at them. All my friends had good experiences of their cs. Lots of good karma to you honey.

LittleSarah · 03/06/2009 11:36

Good luck blueberry - I'm sure you'll be grand!

Done dd's room and dusting, marched on to start hoovering and hoover doesn't appear to want to work! Phoned dh to find out if there is some kind of special way to start it, is new and he usually hoovers and of course he isn't answering phone!

ermintrude13 · 03/06/2009 13:12

Good luck tomorrow blueberry I'm sure you'll be fine; scheduled CSs tend to go smoothly and you'll get to meet your baba at last

Naat glad that plug has worked its way loose (with a bit of help, it sounds like and hope things will start for you soon.

No time for big catch up, but hope babies Edward and Rupert and their mummies are doing well, and that all the twinges everyone else is getting are moving us each towards D-day.

I had my hair cut and coloured this morning so am glad the LO waited for that - and am 38 wks today so any time now would be fine by me (well, from tomorrow, as DH won't be home till midnight).

Looouise awful about your Brazilian friend. Too many sad stories in the news at the moment.

Re: Angelo. I don't think it's pretentious but it's worth being aware that it could potentially cause a bit of teasing. You can't 'proof' your DC against playground teasing by calling them Jane or John, and it's not a made-up or outlandish name. However, it doesn't have an easy shortened form in English apart from feminine ones - Ang, Angie etc - and kids tend to use diminutives. He might end up being called Jello!

The Brotherhood of Man (way before your time but I remember them!) had a hit record called Angelo which someone like the Baron Knights did a spoof of called 'Anne and Joe' but apart from that it doesn't bring anything else to mind.

Not much help, sorry. Just some thoughts.

snowwombat · 03/06/2009 14:19

Downunder check in, sadly no news yet!
11:15pm in sydney and too tired to catch up properly. Have had a few hours of contractions but now stopped! Bugger!

hope everything goes well for ineed and blueberry - how exciting to have more bubbas arriving!

Thinking of Rupert and Effie, Edward and bigcar and hoping things are getting better. Great news the brain scan went well for Rupert.

off to bed for another crappy nights sleep
Sending contraction vibes to all!!!

chocciedooby · 03/06/2009 14:37

Hi Loooouise.
Names can be such a difficult thing. DH and I have still not fully agreed on a boys or girls name yet! Every name that I like he seems to find a shortened version that other kids will use to tease the lo with when older. This has never really crossed my mind before but he does have a point.
I think the name Angelo is a lovely name but as Ermintrude said, what would it be shortened to?

The other thing to take into account is that no matter what we call our lo's there is also the possibility that they can be teased or nick named by their surname and there is not much we can do about that. My DH is still known by all of his friends as a horrible shortened version of his surname!

Sorry I'm not being much help...do you have other names to consider as well?

loooouise · 03/06/2009 14:45

Hi Choccie and Ermitrude - thanks for those points. I agree about diminutives. They're problematic (although very few people call me Lou, as I'm not fond of it).

Funnily enough, my surname is also problematic with unfortunate connotations...I may even consider changing mine and baby's to my grandmother's maiden name to create a new little family identity.

Other boys' names I'm thinking are:
Jude (ironically, also a girl's name, so poss same teasing potential)
Lucien (poss too similar to Lucifer!)

Erm, that's it. I was on Reuben for ages and ages, but curse of surname spoilt that...

It's a bloody nightmare.

On a brighter note, have just booked an appointment to make my will!!

loooouise · 03/06/2009 14:49

Btw, I don't know FOR SURE I'm having a boy, just have this incredibly strong notion it is. The 4d scan pix at 27 weeks just looked...like a little boy.

Hilarious if i have a girl, as I'm just as dithery on that front...

June2009 · 03/06/2009 15:56

louise I have a friend whose son is Angelo and he has had no problems that I know of, he must be around 10 or 12 yo by now.
You know "lilly" was very fashionable last year but when we said to sil that we considered that name she said, oh no, she'll be called "Lilly-willy" at school. Lilly's a perfectly decent name, what can you do, you can't win.
Incidentally we realised that the initials of the three names we chose spell out "CRaP" so back to the drawing board. Or we could swap them round and have CPR which isn't as bad!

I also had a strong feeling I was having a boy, never considered that I could have a girl as a first baby, wasn't even sure that I would ever have a girl. My little brother is still convinced that I'm having a boy. when I showed the scan to my aunties they said "ooh, definitely a boy!"
But the 20w scan confirmed that my baby is a girl, and a very pretty one at that .

My bloody neighbour is doing our heads in about cutting a tree cause it's releasing pollen and she says she's allergic. (the tree has been here for 40y, we only bought the house and moved in 2006.).
Personally I don't want to cut the tree, and they don't want to contribute to the cost, but that's all she's been talking about for the past 2 weeks.
They had a tree surgeon come today to give us an estimate: £1200. And they'd come in 2 weeks.
Like I have 1200 to spend to cut a tree right now AND as if I wanted the tree to be cut when my baby has just made it home!

Anyway, not on my list of things to do as far as I am concerned!

Any news from Doris or Ineed? :D

ermintrude13 · 03/06/2009 16:11

June and Looouise my Matilda has always preferred to be called Tilly and yes, she does get Tilly-willy, just like my youngest sister used to get Annie-fanny, but in neither case has it done any lasting damage! It's true that you can't come up with anything completely foolproof and personally I'd love a more interesting name (than Ermintrude ).

And June, at your neighbour. It's a shame if she's allergic to that type of pollen but it's not incumbent on you to chop it for her benefit, and certainly not to pay for it! Nowt so queer as folk...

daisy5 · 03/06/2009 17:02

Just a quick drop in. Hi louise - for what it's worth I always wanted a cool nickname but no one would ever shorten my name, so when I went to High School I told people my name was xxxxx but that my friends called me xx (an shortened version of my name) - a white lie. However at my brother's school it was terribly uncool to be called by your real name and everyone had to have a nickname - but sometimes one unrelated to either first name or surname i.e. spud. My older brother was Richard so he of course was called Dick. My younger brother looked like his geography teacher so he got his name. But this is in NZ.

I've never come across an Angelo so can't comment on abbreviations...but like erm says I am showing my age by telling you that I used to know all the words to the song.

Long ago
High on a mountain in Mexico
Lived a young shepherd boy called Angelo
He met a young girl and loved her so.

Rich was she
Came from a very high family.
He knew it could not be.
So they ran away to their destiny.

Running away together
Running away forever, Annn-gelll-o

I used to love this song about eloping and thought it was very romantic. Clearly I knew all the words. It had a bit of a Romeo & Juliet ending I think.

DH talking about going down to London tomorrow - bet baby will come tomorrow then

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 03/06/2009 17:27

Hi all,

No news here - getting also too fed up to sign in now (no news and all that )

Had a reasonably positive day, lovely sleep last night (to make up for the night before)and the DD's were at GP's (1st time for DD2), dh got all soppy walking round the house missing them (oh it's so big here without them etc )

Saw MW this am, sorry if TMI but tried to have a clean up (in the shower) down below before my appt, as the pessary was somewhat messy bleurgggghhhhh I was so i just kept apoogising to my lovely very experienced mw. Had another quick listen and all was good so had sweep, not AS painful as I'd anticipated propably on par with a smear but without the speculum....she said I'm 1-2 cm dilated and soft (or positive as she kept saying) however she's booked me in for another over the weekend if no joy -I'm not holding my breath.

Oh and the last joy it may be back to back so I have been on my hands and knees scrubbing carpets this pm trying to encourage the little bugger tease that is baby no 3. to turn.

Right just going to reread then I'll post again as I have forgotten everything!!!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 03/06/2009 17:30

Just checked facebook more news from effie

-Rupert appears to remain the same- but won't say it too loud! His main problem is that is lungs are too stiff to maintain his oxygen levels! He hates being handled and it takes him a while for him to get his oxygen levels up. He may need abit of phototherapy soon aswell! For my nursey freinds- his on really high pressures and they don't want to come down- think 39/5m Good news is his pnemothorax has closed.
