I hope I've done this right - here is the new thread...and hopefully the last in ante-natal

@ thinking Richinda was yr daughter's name Bunny sorry

Update here - called mw at 7.30 for a chat. She suggested I had a bath and rang back at 8.30. Contractions have gathered in strength since about 6ish. Now have to stop what I'm doing to breathe through them.

New on call mw has just rung and she'll pop round at 10am to have a look and see what's going on.

Will probably update later

worriedamy · 20/06/2009 10:05

good luck silk!

loooouise · 20/06/2009 10:13

Still here, my 'contractions' did a runner, no symptoms since, so don't worry worried, I'm probably on the homestretch til July too!

Silk - go girl go! Sorry you haven't had much sleep, but wishing you a splendid birth, keep breathing! Hope DS settles down and (ahem) the bowels perform soon...

Lauraloo - you have my sympathy. How awful to have all this pain yet be told that you're no closer. I agree with Silk keep calling the labour ward and if you something doesn't feel right, insist that they see you.

Zozo good luck! Sounds like you'll get your solstice baby!

Bunny lovely to hear your news and how besotted you are...ah. Richinda isn't the craziest name I've read on MN!
But look forward to hearing the real one when it's ready

Poor, poor you MrsMcJnr, I feel terribly sorry for you. Decisions such as these are the hardest things when you have much loved pets; your vet should have been more supportive.

Hello Ermitrude, how's that floor cleaning coming on?

ermintrude13 · 20/06/2009 10:23

Silk hope this is it for you, though our dwindling band of ladies in waiting is making me impatient! Today is 40 wks by my dates (ie LMP) so I keep reminding myself of that. Even so, and despite not feeling in the mood at all, I've told DH he must do his conjugal duties tonight in case that helps . He didn't look too nervous, poor deprived chap.

Ineed antibiotics give me thrus too but I had a UTI a few months back and made sure I ate 2 probiotic yoghurts a day whilst taking the antibiotics and had no thrush at all. You can get tablets too. Because the antis destroy lots of the 'good' bacteria, the pros can help replace them.

Naat Our babies' early baths were always with us. One of us would get in the warm bath and the other would be there to hand baby in and take out. Because you can hold them close, which is reassuring, they took to the water very easily. Of course it is a 2-person job so not always practical but we found it a good way of starting off - easy to handle and wash the babe when you're in there too.

Zozo hope everything's going well for you today

Looouise, how are you doing?

ermintrude13 · 20/06/2009 10:43

Didn't read this page!

Bunny congratulations, phew that she's not called Richinda

Re: feeding - I just went on demand, never tried to do it at certain times and tbh mine never really kept very regular hours until a few months in. It's only if you/ medics are worried about her not having enough that you'd need to wake her, normally there's no need.

Sorry to hear you've got sore nips. , Try to get all the nipple and most of the aureole in her mouth - you should be able to see the top of your aureole - and check the little muscle by her ear to see she's swallowing. (you can gently press the top of her jaw on either side of her face - by the ears - to make her open wide if she doesn't do it automatically. Do it on yourself first to see what I mean). Rub your milk in to the area after each feed, or use cream - everyone seems to recommend Lansinoh. If problems persist do call and NCT or LLL or other b/feeding counsellor who can give you personalised help.

Looouise what a shame, still, all these pre-labour signs mean you're gearing up to it. Cleaning the floors just gave me backache...

Tee hope you're coming home today with baby A

lauraloo09 · 20/06/2009 10:53

morning all

ermin happy due date along with me here's hoping something starts soon with us.

silk here's hoping this is it good luck hon and keep us posted if you can

bunny sorry to hear your having a hard time BF baby, like others have said why not try some nipple cream for after feeds (first timer here so no idea what i'd do too lol )

tee hopefully you're home with baby Adam enjoying all the hugs you can get xx

Well today is my due date and thro the night had some minor cramps compared to what i was having earlier in the night, and a lot of pressure on my pelvic area (maybe thats babe trying to make the Great Escape) This morning had more thick clear discarge when i went to the loo now feel really nausious (sp?) need to go shopping so hopefully the exercise will help. i think if the pains come back on strong today i'll be heading to labour ward at consultant hospital MIL is on call now as her and DH are now off for hols waiting on baby to arrive

Bunny - sorry to hear about your sore boobs. I thoroughly recommend Lansinoh and the pads too as they don't 'stick' to your nips if you know what I mean. It does get easier (about 10 days of religious lathering of cream after every feed - don't forget or you'll suffer for it).

Agree with Ermin about the latch. I think MrsMc posted ages ago about squeezing your boob flat and 'posting' it into LO's mouth. I've been doing that and I have much more success than not. Don't forget that 'let-down' can also be a bit sore and that it might be this hurting too. Mine feels like burning prickles behind my nipples (both at the same time, regardless of which side I'm feeding on). At first I was gently pulling her off and starting again, tho it was the let-down not a bad latch that was hurting.

I had a horrendous time with DS and gave up after 10 days, I'm 17 days in with DD and it's going okay. I do wake her up sometimes for a feed if my boobs are a bit space-hopper-ish and need draining. She's more than happy to oblige most of the time!

Horrendous night last night. She screamed from 12 til 4am with trapped wind. Infacol didn't seem to even work. Off to cranial osteopath next week. Not having another night like that again!

silkcushion · 20/06/2009 11:11

Latest update mw just left. She has gone to the hospital to pick up oxygen and entonox cylinders and plans to come back between midday and one.

She did an exam - I'm 4cm and she's convinced it's all progressing well. So am I. Contractions are far stronger since she did the internal - having to really focus on getting through them now. Dh keeps saying 'are you ok?' whilst my face is screwed up in pain/concentration. feel like telling him to piss off sort of need to be left to my own devices during labour I think

Hopefully should be posting later with birht news

bigcar · 20/06/2009 12:21

I hadn't realised we had so many more girls than boys so far! Thanks for posting that.

Edward is doing really well, still sleeping well at night, usually only gets up once He's definitely awake more now, pulls some wondeful faces! He definitely knows when he's with his mummy now too. I finally got round to ordering myself some decent nursing bras, sooo much more comfortable now!

llynnnn · 20/06/2009 12:43

just a quickie, good luck Silk!! hope evrything goes really well for you!

Tee2072 · 20/06/2009 13:48

Quick message...Adam is across the room from me in his grandmother's arms. HE'S HOME!

ermintrude13 · 20/06/2009 14:10

Ooh silk, good luck, that all sounds great! Remember to breathe through as much as possible - if your face and muscles hunching up too much it can be because you're fighting the pain rather than 'riding' through it and it can get v tiring. Poor DHs can't do much about it; I think it's the worst bit for them. Hope to hear news soon xx

MrsMcJnr · 20/06/2009 15:15

Thank you all so much for your empathy with the cat situation it is awful

Silk - way to go! hope things are progressing quickly for you now.

Bunny - lovely to have you back

Just a quick post from me, hope to be back later. Poor Aaliyah has caught DS's cold and is snuffling away like a hedgehog, I feel awful for her I have propped her up in her basket and have some saline nose drops on hand if I need them but I feel so sorry for her, she is so little

chocciedooby · 20/06/2009 16:53

Congratulations Silk. Wonderful news. Another girl to add to our list
Sounds like you had a lovely quick home birth. Well done you.

Tee - how lovely to have your little boy home

Mrsmc - sorry baba has a cold Hope it clears soon.

Bigcar - your little man sounds like a wonderful baby.

Ineed - you are doing great with the bf. I only managed 3 days with DS1 and it put me off for life . Every day that you ladies do is admirable, especially the pain that you go through.

laura - you are on quite a rollercoaster each day. You are going to end up with a very special lo and it will be all so worth it

Any new mummies out there feeling the blues??
It hit me quite badly today. I left the house for the 1st time to take DS1 to a birthday party and when we got there he struggled to join in the party games. All the kids partnered up and he was left walking around looking for someone to partner him. He looked like a little lost lamb and my heart went out to him. He ended up being left out of a few games and no-one really seemed to notice. He didn't want me to leave him and kept coming up to me for a cuddle and asking me not to leave. I had my car parked on double yellows for 30 mins so couldn't stay and in the end had to offer him the choice of staying alone or coming home with me. He came home with me but was very upset He said he was scared at the party etc. I felt so sad for him and got all emotional (far more than I normally would) and I came home and cried for an hour.
I forgot how hormonal I can be after having a child.

Congratulations silk! What fabulous news xx

LittleSarah · 20/06/2009 17:16

Congrats to silk on birth of Eleri! Sounds like it went well, can't wait to hear more!

LittleSarah · 20/06/2009 17:19

Choccie - Certainly I am a bit up and down at times! I feel quite teary about your ds's party experience, poor wee lamb! I keep thinking of the things I wanted to try and do while on maternity leave (make extra cash selling stuff on ebay and try and write my novel - cliched!) and wondering when I'll ever feel up to doing any of it!

ermintrude13 · 20/06/2009 18:26

Wow silk, you popped out to have a baby in between posts! . Many congratulations on the birth of Eleri, and well done!

choccie Sounds to me like whoever was running that party wasn't doing it very well - you just don't organise games where some children might be left without a partner . He might already be feeling a little vulnerable - only natural with a new arrival - and the host/s should have been extra careful to involve all the children in the games. I am outraged on your behalf! Whether pregnant (still.. zzzzzzzz) or newly-delivered I think we can all get pretty tearful at the moment. I'm sure he'll cheer up soon.

bigcar · 20/06/2009 18:26

silk, huge congratulations and welcome to little Eleri Must have been quite quick in the end?!

tee, wonderful news

choccie, still feeling a little bit blue every now and then, it takes a while for everything to go back to normal! Lack of sleep never helps either. Hope your ds is ok now.

llynnnn · 20/06/2009 20:07

Tee - fab news, so so pleased for you

Silk - CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of Eleri! beautiful name!

Choccie - sorry to hear you are feeling teary. i am so worried about dd1 feeling upset and pushed out by Isobel's arrival. its only natural, try not to beat yourself up about it, our hormones are still all over the place

Mrsmc - hope Aaliyah is feeling better, how awful for her to be poorly so young

June - congratulations on the birth of Calypso, hope you are both doing really well

Laura - happy due date, cant believe you have made it here, must be frustrating for you. ive thought soooo many times that your baby was coming. hope you dont have too much more of a wait

Hi to everyone else, hope all mummys, babies and mummys-to-be are doing well
