I hope I've done this right - here is the new thread...and hopefully the last in ante-natal

MrsMcJnr to read about your totally shitty day, particularly about your darling cat. You poor, poor thing. I wish I could offer you some advice, but the Spanish civil registry system sounds like lunacy.
You don't need all this right now. ((Sending hugs and hair strokes))
xx

lauraloo09 · 18/06/2009 21:35

mrsmcjnr sorry to hear about your rubbish day and that your DS is acting up just now, maybe behaving like this for attention after arrival of DD. So to hear about your cat esp when you need to decide what to do about op as it is going to be expensive...and the spanish registery system must be full of idiots for not registering the birth, i mean it wasn't your fault you didn't give birth at the hospital, hopefully they will see sense and have the birth registered asap xx

Laura - sounds like you will have your baby very soon. That was definately your show earlier. Maybe you will go to bed tonight and be woken by things starting to kick off? Thats what happened with my dc2. I had no pains before bed and woke at 1am with one big pain and knew that was it. Good Luck!

Ineed - so sorry to hear about your infection. I hope they get things sorted out for you. Our bodies have to cope with soooo much.

Silk - won't be long for you either.Hang in there. You will soon have your lo.

Ermin - I'm thinking of you as you were my due date buddy Did you go scrub the floor? Thanks for your words re: blood loss etc. When I went to the toilet in the hospital and "delivered" "something" into the loo I was bleeding so much that I had to keep wiping with paper and the toilet was stuffed so I didn't see what had actually fallen out. Probably a good thing really. I will never know. I have not had anything like that since, no major clots or anything just lots of red dripping blood (sorry tmi).Thinking back I was the same with other 2 dcs so will just keep an eye on things for now.

Many Congratulations Lynnn on the birth of Isobel Thanks for your birth story.
Sorry to hear about the bladder problems. We woman really are troupers with what we have to deal with eh!

Naat - sorry to hear about your los pains I know how heartbreaking it can be. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Loooouise - Looking forward to hearing news from you. Glad you liked my birth story. Just remember - Keep an open mind to labour. Everyone is different, every pregnancy, every labour. I was adamant that I was to get the epidural and made it my dhs one job on the day. He did his job and the dr arrived to administer the drug. I didn't need it. I did not EVER believe I could deliver a child into this world without the "big injection". I have a low pain threshold, am screamish at the best of times etc etc but when it came down to it I could not ignore what my body was telling me to do and it was completely natural to go with it.
Who knows, maybe if I dilated more slowly I would have had the jab again and then would have ended up in labour far longer. And I would never have got to experience child birth other than on my back! Good Luck.

chocciedooby · 18/06/2009 21:43

Mrsmc - at the Spanish registry system. What a bloody palava now....I hope you manage to get things sorted.

Sorry to hear about your poor cat I would be really upset about that. I hope you get a good outcome at the vets tomorrow.

DS will be ok. He is just maybe kicking off for a little attention. The same thing has been happening here and it is hard but a little bit of time each day set aside for just mummy and ds will work wonders. I am also making sure that I am not always seen to be holding baby in arms as I know DS2 is getting a wee bit jealous.

ermintrude13 · 18/06/2009 22:13

Hey choccie - nope, this LO is still cooking. I'm actually not too bothered since I know I'm on the home run and the other two were late (and by the date of my last period the due date is actually 20th; they changed it at the 12 wk scan). I'm not getting much done though - was about to scrub floors and then found one of the cats had left bits of bird on the kitchen lino and once I'd cleaned that up I felt a bit sick so used that as an excuse to do very little.

MrsMc if they thought it might not be your baby shouldn't they be interested in finding out whose it actually is? . What tosh! So sorry about your cat. If it's a complex injury which might involve a lot of surgery then it's not just a question of money but of what it's worth putting a pet through. I don't mean to sound callous - when our cat nearly lost her eye I was in bits and cried at the vets - but sometimes that's what the decision comes down to. Also, cats can manage on 3 legs... Really hope they can fix her though, and that you have a better day with DS tomorrow.

Hey lauraloo and silk

Tee2072 · 18/06/2009 22:17

Hey all

Sorry I've not been around. Obviously doing a lot of running back and forth to the hospital! Adam took his first proper breast feed tonight, so he'll be home before long!

I hope everyone is doing well. Congratulations to anyone I missed who might have given birth over the last few days!

Get cracking to the rest of you...especially erm...::flees::

Naat · 18/06/2009 22:32

Hi Juners!

Thanks to all who gave me some advice re. Mila's problem with wind. I'm putting it all into practice as of now! I know it's not what people call colic itself as they tend to happen at the same time and last hours on end, and this is not Mila's case, but well, it's definitely trapped wind. This afternoon she had no problem passing it and did it but then in the evening we had another 15min session of pain until one came out. I'm hoping she doesn't have one during the night

Today I tried some milk expressing as my boobs were HUGE and rock hard... I expressed 70ml in 30 mins! So I guess that's the milk coming I was literally dripping while massaging them to make them a bit softer so I thought expressing a bit was the way to go...

Catching up now.

mrsmc, so so sorry to hear about your cat. It brought tears to my eyes as I can imagine how you feel! We have a cat in Arg. and leaving her there was the hardest thing, even though she's with a friend of ours. I can't believe the daftness of the Spaniards re. the baby's registration. Unbelievable, really. I'm so angry for you, hope they come into senses and register her soon.

Choccie, great birth story!! You must be so proud of yourself! You should be Well done you! Elina is a lovely name

Laura, yay on the show! Hope things get kicking soon!!

June, I'm having everything crossed here for no news to be great news and that you already have LO in your arms!

Loouise, I know what you mean, the last days seem endless! And it seems like everything you do ends up in you thinking about the baby and labour Hope things kick in soon

Ineed, so sorry to hear about the pain and the infection. Hope those antibiotics work soon.

Silk, hoping the curry does the trick for you tonight I asked the MW today when she came and she told me not to eat any more dried apricots (I was eating 4 dried ones a day to help with n° 2, as I was terrified of going to the toilet after the tear) She also suggested a warm bath (but I haven't given Mila her first one yet) so let's see, for the moment I'm following the Juners' advice.

Llynn, hi! Congratulations on the birth of Isobel, she's gorgeous!!!

Hello to all the rest of the Juners!!! sending birthing vibes to all of those still waiting!

MrsMcJnr · 18/06/2009 23:12

Naat ? lovely to hear from you well done again! It?s best just to think from feed to feed the pattern seems to change everyday in the early weeks. I really feel for you on the crying, my DS was like that, it was awful and exhausting, we started on infacol and that made quite a difference. That and walking around with him upright massaging his back.

Wow Choccie that was some sleep your LO let you have lovely to read your birth story, I know what you mean about the pushing stage, you finally get to do something that helps the pain congratulations again on your surprise girl when Aaliyah was born and DH and I were sitting there in the bathroom with her, it was about 5 mins before he sat up and said ?we?d better check she is a girl after that friend of yours on MN? so I checked and sure enough she was I passed a huge clot with DS, think it was part of the membranes as they were ragged and this time I bleed heavily for the first 5 days (dripping all over the floor when I stood up ? sorry if TMI) they had to change my bed completely in hospital twice due to the blood but here I am day 9 and I seem to have stopped bleeding completely with DS I am sure it was weeks?

Go June go June !

Tee ? great news on Adam taking the bottle hope you get him home tomorrow!

Silkcushion ? hope you enjoyed that walk down memory lane

Worriedamy ? NO hon, don?t read that scary stuff before bed!! Read the fun stuff and think about the smell of your baby?s hair and the expressions on his/her little face and how much he/she will adore you those things are so much nicer.

Hey Ermintrude and Looouise and Laura ? hope you are hanging in there and not getting too fed up! Remember I did a big scrub of the house the day before Aaliyah arrived

Zozokat ? can?t believe some of those comments!

Llynnn ? congratulations on little Isobel, what a positive induction story, should make all those worrying about it feel better sorry about the bladder issues though, you poor thing

Ineedmore ? poor you try to get as much rest as you can, your body needs some time to recoup.

Thanks for all your lovely, supportive messages

lauraloo09 · 19/06/2009 05:46

morning juners hope you have all had a good nights sleep unlike yours truely here

Finally for to sleep at 1 only to be woken at 4.45 with really painful period pains. Still got the pains and they are coming every so often so i suppose i better start timing them . I have a midwife appointment at 12 so hopefully i can hold off until i see her but after so many false alarms i'm worried that this could be another one do you think if i tell midwife i had a show yesterday she will examine me to see if I have started to at least dilate?

I really hope that no news from june is good news and she is holding her LO in her arms, after the bother she has had she deserves this

June many congratulations and what a wonderful name. Welcome to little Calypso and look forward to hearing all about it once you've had time to rest and get some sleep

Lauraloo still sounding promising. If the contractions are painful - not agonising, but to the extent that you need to stop and 'breathe through' them - then that's a good sign. I'm definitely going to clean the bathroom and toilet floors today.

Naat It's great that your milk's coming in - maybe the change will help Mila's wind. One tiny word of warning: don't express too much at first, because it's sending your breasts a message that you need more milk, and until your supply has settled there is a risk that you might get too engorged. Get Mila to feed as much as she can and you'll produce the right amount for her. Once the pair of you have got that sorted it's easier to assess how much expressing you need to do depending on whether you're building up a freezer-full or just planning on DH giving her the odd bottle at some point.

Tee so glad Adam took to the breast

LittleSarah · 19/06/2009 09:48

Congrats to June, llynnn and Choccie! Choccie - Great birth story! Well done lady!

llynnn - I hope you get your ability to wee back soon !

MrsMcJnr - Ugh what a dreadful day you had! I can't believe they won't register Aaliyah! Bastards.

Naat - I really feel you with the huge rock hard breasts! I was exactly the same and also expressed a little, ermin is right though, don't over do it! It does calm down in a day or two. I had forgotten and got very concerned but it is far better now. Although they still get pretty hard... I have no good advice about wind I'm afraid, but I can say that everything about babies is a phase, absolutely everything!

It looks like Alex is now a twice a night waker which is nice. About 3/4am and then 6.30am... just about manageable. And the latch is much improved, still stings at first but pretty comfortable now.

Right, off to dd's 'graduation' from nursery... then later should get final uni results... ahhhh!

Will hopfully do a proper catch-up this weekend.

chocciedooby · 19/06/2009 09:57

Congratulations June Well done girl. You must be over the moon. Can't wait to hear your details. Hope you are getting some rest now.

Laura - How are the pains? I really do think you will have your baby in the next 24 hours. Let us know how you get on at the MWs.

Tee - Great that Adam had a breast feed. Really hope you get him home tomorrow.

Mrsmc - Hope you have a better day today. Any news on the cat? Have the authorities found the parents of that baby girl yet that was born in your apartment?! .

lauraloo09 · 19/06/2009 10:19

oh june what a lovely name and congratulations on the birth of Calypso bet you'll be happy it's all over now

Well pains have calmed a bit, was able to get back to sleep at 7.30 but up every 15mins again but i really needed to try and sleep, at the worst of the pains during the night they were coming every 5-10 mins and lasting for about 30 secs the pain was both period type cramp and a very sore pain at the top of the bump like a severe tightening. Had a bit more discharge there when i went to loo so hopefully midwife can advise what is happening...think it is time to put hospital bags in car so whereever i am i will always have the bags with me

You lot are little monkeys! Hardly a word on the thread all day yesterday until I go to bed early and you all come out chattering

MrsM - terrible news about Tia hope it goes ok at the vets today. Flipping Spanish authorities eh?

June - congratulations and hello to little Calypso (very exotic name)

Laura - definitely sounds promising this morning.

Thinking Dreamy must have produced baby number 8 by now as we've not heard from her.

Erm - it'll just be the two of us left soon

Well yesterday's waddling and spicy curry did nothing. I have been struck down with apathy now. Have considered another walk or maybe a swim. But so far can't even be bothered to put the washing on!!

Need a virtual kick up the arse please.

Laura something's gone wrong with the list cos Insy had her little Bear earlier this week.

It was added to the list early and now has gone. I've tried to change it but am so completely useless I buggered the whole thing up and gave up.

Are you able to do it? Inbetween your contractions I mean

Ask the mw to have a look at midday as it sounds like labour has started - you might be like I was first time round and have yr baby on it's due date
