Due Feb 2010

Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but my dd was so wriggly during her scans that the sonographers found them a bit challenging. And this one was the same last week, so I was thinking it was another girl. Who knows???? My dp said last week he wants to find out the sex of this one at the 20 week scan. I have always been dead against the idea but now I am warming to it. Have any of you found out the sex in your previous pregnancies and did you regret it?

Becks - how mean that you get rid of your ms and start with spd straight away. It sounds like you get it badly. My friend had it with both her pregnancies, and it was as bad, but no worse during her second.

Congrats to all those who have had nice scans.

mawbroon · 03/08/2009 21:14

chinook - I found out that my ds was a ds at my 20 week scan. I knew that it might not be correct, but I had later scans because he was in a funny position, and there were his bits, clear as day.

I loved knowing the sex, and will be hoping to find out again this time.

I have had a ridiculous hormonal weeping episode tonight. DH was telling me that the car we have just bought has lots of torque. I have heard of torque, but don't really know what it is, so I (big mistake) asked him. He started explaining, and I just didn't get it. I said, sorry, I don't understand, so he tried again a few times, using some props, but I just didn't get it. He was a little exasperated (not even that much tbh) then said, but you did Higher physics at school, how can you not understand. Then I burst into tears. How ridiculous. I knew at the time it was completely ridiculous, but I couldn't stop!!! And I still don't know WTF torque is. I might go and ask on the geeky stuff section.....

Anyway, I presume from this that the hormones are all still in order and that it's a good sign!!!

devotion · 03/08/2009 22:51

3+1 - congrats on your scan - great news!

Pops78 - she sounds like a horrible bitter woman!!! I'm Irish and from a Catholic background but I know none of my aunties or mother would react like that, its not the bloosy 50's. She just sounds nasty!

The best thing you can do is give her your best smile because she is over there and you are here so it doesnt matter. You will hopefully only need to see her now and then.

Not a nice experience for you though - I just have no patience for people like that. Whatever their opinion is they should keep unhelpful comments to themselves.

So a big hug to you and a twi big fingers to her , sorry!... right i'll take a deep breath and calm down now!

Still sick here and moaning just as much.

Treated myself to a pair of maternity jeans today. Tried in jeans in Hennes and they looked horrible plus I was squeezing my big old wobbly ass into sixe 12 when i am normally a 10 so i was NOT happy. Gave up then walked over to Gap. They have a small maternity section and their size 10 (uk 10) was too big so I had to get a gap size 4 which i think is a UK 8 so i left slightly happier.

Just goes to show how shops sizes are all different.

They are still not as nice as my normal skinny jeans so i think i will just have to go up town to Topshop Oxford St. They have the best maternity jeans.

Sweet baby dreams all.

Am I the only person who tries to start their dreams off about their new baby.

Ahhhhhh I can not wait to snuggle into their little neck and smell their brand new baby skin

devotion · 03/08/2009 22:52

can not spell or type tonight x

threeplusone · 04/08/2009 08:27

I didnt find out with DD but i did with both the boys and I will this time. I am too impatient. But i do regret it in a way as the surprise element has gone. Unless they are wrong that is. I am not even the type of person that can find out then not tell anyone, although may give that a go.

Devotion..It has been abot 13years since i was a size 10!!.. I wish..
Not sure what to do re my holiday clothes as when we come home we are hitting the shops to get the holiday stuff.. but think I am going to have to go up a size innormal clothes rather than buying summer maternity.

TBH was just saying to my nan last night.. why if the baby is still deep (yesterdays scan had to be done vaginally too)\have I thickened out and look further on than i am..

Devotion.. I know what you mean about wantingto snuggle up with the baby I am so looking forward to snuggling on the sofa on an evening as tbh dont think I will get to many chances during the day, for big snuggles..

devotion · 04/08/2009 10:40

threeplusone - exactly.

you are not free to coo over them during the day as you feel more little pairs of puppy dog eyes on you and then you say.. "and you are gorgeous too, and you" and in your case, "and you!"... oh i'm already tired

i didnt find out with either of my girls, i just love surprises! you have no say over it so why open your pressie early? i wont find out this time either.

i just love that bit, "is it a boy or girl?"... then "you have a ...!" - exciting!

i have to say it almost kills me waiting to find out, i love torturing myself

watercress · 04/08/2009 12:06

Part of me is really looking forward to all the cooing and head smelling (that sounds weird, but I'm sure you know what I mean) but part of me won't let myself because I'm absolutely terrified about my scan next week. In a fit of stupidity curiosity, I looked at a MN thread on going to scans by yourself and read loads of stuff from people who had had bad news and it's made me massively jittery

But, assuming all is well, I will definitely find out the sex. I'm a real control freak and it helps me get organised. And I think it's still a surprise, just a bit earlier! What would really be a surprise is if they said it was a puppy...

There's another practical reason for finding out: DH and I really struggle over names (different cultures) so finding out the sex halves the arguments debate. Last time we only had one name, which was a girl's, so when we found out that it was a DD at the 20 week scan, it was a huge relief!

Mawbroon, have you found out what torque is yet?! I think it's a man thing, like the offside rule and smelling your own farts...

Glynnispig · 04/08/2009 15:59

Hello all

I hope you dont mind if I join you? I was on here a while ago briefly but was a bit too scared to write too much until I had my scan! I had my scan on Wednesday and all was fine, I am 12+2 now, due February 14th!

Insanitybecomesme · 04/08/2009 19:01

Hello all,
I have not posted for a while as real life took over, had my dating scan today which was the same as the date I put here which is the 23rd Feb. It also showed 2 babies non identical I already have four and my youngest is 20 months so looks like I shall be very busy.

scoobyd00 · 04/08/2009 19:09

Insanity - oh my goodness, you're going to have your hands full! Congratulations!

Good to hear about all the other successful scans.

i thought I had my MW appt today but it turned out it was just to take bloods. have got my scan next Monday and it can't come quick enough! I'm running out of excuses for not drinking, playing hockey or doing my normal mad exercise routine!

chinook · 04/08/2009 20:41

wow insanity - you lucky thing. I am always a bit envious when I hear of people having twins. One of my best friends has non-identical twins (one of each) and she says it is perfect. There was no pressure for her to dress them the same because they didn't look the same!

Anyone else started with heartburn yet? I am sure it is beginning already and I am gutted. It would be nice to get rid of a few symptoms before adding new ones. I really am no good at this being pregnant business.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 04/08/2009 21:25

wow insanity thats fab news xxxxxx

devotion · 04/08/2009 22:43

Congratulations Insanity - I was wondering how when someone would announce twins!

You will do great! Sounds like you will have plenty of little hands to get nappies etc

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!!!!!

esselle · 05/08/2009 00:41

Congratulations Insanity! How wonderful.

I discovered yesterday that the best way to let absolutely everyone know you are pregnant is to tell a 5yo! My DD is just so excited it seems like she may pop! She told everyone at kindergarten, people in shops, and everyone else who crossed her path. I think that she is in for a long 7 months!!

Is there anyone else on this thread who is not in the UK?

Insanitybecomesme · 05/08/2009 09:14

Thanks everyone I am still in shock but looking forward to the challenge

eselle I know what you mean my eldest two want to tell the world about the twins, at least they are excited about it.

devotion there will be lots of hands to help I am sure though my dd is desperate for a sister as she already has three brothers, I have a feeling if these are both boys she will move in with her aunt in protest and she is only three

mawbroon · 05/08/2009 09:33

Congratulations insanity! There are twins in our family, but nobody in this generation has had any. I have one more sister who hasn't had children yet, so perhaps it will be her!!

I have just had the weirdest breakfast, but it was exactly what I fancied! oatcakes with guacamole, chilli sauce and cherry tomatoes. Delicious! Followed by left over choc cake!!

My appetite has been a lot less, and actually some of my trousers that were straining before I got pg are a bit looser, so I might have actually lost a pound of two, which is no bad thing really!

My DS is really excited too. He keeps talking about "our new baby" so I am hoping this means he is feeling included rather than excluded and I guess the tricky bit is to keep him feeling this way after the baby is born.

watercress · 05/08/2009 10:34

Insanity, how exciting!

Hope you're keeping well.

becks130 · 05/08/2009 14:20

Hi All,

Insanity Congratulations, you have a VER VERY busy few years ahead.

12 weeks today YAY!! I also felt the baby move today which was really nice, it's made me feel a little better about my scan on Friday.

I had a shock yesterday when I came home from work last night, my DS was bit at nursery and it's not just a little mark, it's broken the skin and bruised! So last night I was up for hours last night as everytime DS moved in bed he woke up because it was hurting so much so today I am VERY tired.

threeplusone · 05/08/2009 17:35

congratulations insanity.. you said you like chaos... xx

threeplusone · 05/08/2009 18:04

esselle I am in germany where are you xx

flyingcloud · 05/08/2009 21:19

Congratulations Insanity.

Wow Becks - you felt the baby move - I'm jealous!

Esselle - I'm in France - where are you?

esselle · 06/08/2009 01:40

I'm in Australia! I am so not looking forward to this coming summer - which is predicted to be very hot! I think I will just have to lay about in front of the air con and eat icecream!!

At the moment the weather is lovely and cool, which helped hid my not-pregnant-looking-but-blobby-looking tummy before I DD told everyone about the baby.

I am sure I have felt baby movement too but thought it was a bit early. Must be all that wind I seem to have these days!!

We are about to start builing a new house and I reckon it should be done when I am due. I am pretty happy about this as it means I won't have to do much moving! Yay! I will just tell everyone else what to do!

esselle · 06/08/2009 01:41

building

ktpie · 06/08/2009 07:48

Morning everyone,

Esselle - very exciting that you are building a house! Hope it isn't too stressful.

Becks - hope your DS is allright, sounds horrible.

Chinook - I think I am getting the beginnings of heartburn, got some gaviscon on prescription last time so going to ask for some next MW appointment. Who knows when that will be, should have been this week but she was booked up, they aren't sure if she is on holiday next week so fingers crossed for the week after (I'll have had the baby by the time they make me an appointment).

Insanity - Wow! How old are your older ones?

I have a little monkey here DS (13 months) seems to be going through a climbing phase and is climbing on everything.
