Due Feb 2010

Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

Hello again, thanks for the welcome Pops - i had a rubbish midwife with my second pregnancy, when i went for my booking in she asked my age (was 22 at the time booked looked about 14 lol)then asked about prev pregnancies i told her just the one, and she just said ok and wrote on my notes previous pregnancy 'TOP' - which means termination of pregnancy! i asked what that meant and she explained and i was horrified! My pregnancy actually resulted in my beautiful ds who was then just turned 2!!! - she just said "oh right sorry" she was an absolute pain in the butt all the way through. This is my 4th pregnancy and in my experience most midwives are lovely, but occasionally you get one thats just a miserable bossy know-it-all! hmm was that a bit of a rant lol

becks130 · 28/07/2009 12:48

pops Good luck for the scan. The midwife is obviously stupid, the Dr found my baby heartbeat yesterday at 10+5!

QueenofVenus I was 21 when pregnant with DS and I found that a few midwives asumed I was a single perant, they even went as far as booking me on single parent antinatal class without even asking. My partner was at work which was the reason he wasn't at EVERY appointment with me, that suprised them even more!!

CaractacusPotty · 28/07/2009 14:57

Welcome to VLC and QOV

Glad to hear about good scans and blood results.

I have a lovely midwife, and had an especially lovely mw during the birth of ds1 - and it does make an enormous difference when they're nice. dh saw the mw from ds1's birth randomly a few weeks ago and she still remembered us, couldn't believe that ds1 is now 4!!

Well I bit the bullet and told my mother. She took it better than expected - but then, I waited until she'd had 2 glasses of wine and they had guests over so she had to be polite . Will tell ILs this weekend then we're officially public.

Jules - we had the dses there at the scan last week, no-one minded and the waiting room was full of people with kids. One lot (with older kids) left them in the waiting room and just called them in to look at the baby once they were sure it was ok. We took the kids in with us because they're too young to be left on their own. They didn't know what was going on, and we didn't tell them (though ds1 announced that evening "you've got a baby in your belly haven't you?", I asked how he knew - expecting him to say from the scan, but he said "because you've got a fat belly" And that's after I've lost masses of weight with MS )

threeplusone · 28/07/2009 16:28

Pops.. re the mw she shouldnt had said those comments.. but to be honest alot of medical professionals wont attempt to find a hb until 14weeks+ so that they dont upset the mother when they cant find one. I know they tried to find one for me when i was 14wks with ds2 but they couldnt until 16wks. But i do have a fair amount of blubber to get through!!
I am glad that alot of you have been lucky and able to hear the hbs so early.

I am sure I felt a movement last night.. it was a definate slight light kick... will see.
looking forward to monday for my next scan.

DS2 still isnt very well bless him going to see how he is by thursday then take him back to the drs. by then he will have had three days of antibs.

Glad the bloodtests came back all clear.
Hope everyone is ok .xx

QOV- How old are your other children..

chinook · 28/07/2009 20:11

Evening everyone. I had my scan today and all was well. It was a very wriggly baby sucking its thumb, just like my dd was. After having 2 mc's the relief to finally have a good scan was huge. I had tears streaming at one point. I just have to wait 48 hours now for the results of blood tests. They do blood tests automatically here to give you more accurate results for downs etc.

Now I have had my scan I am desperate for all my horrid symptoms to disappear. Fingers crossed.

Pops78 - Hope all went well for you today. Was thinking about you

mawbroon · 28/07/2009 20:33

Hi everyone. I feel like I am at the coos tail here with you lot all feeling movements! I felt some at 14 weeks with my ds, but it was a lot longer before I was completely sure it was the baby moving, but I reckon this time round I will know sooner.

I bought a banana guard today to help eliminate the squished banana boaking. Yuk. And a new bra. I had to get a 34E. I was an E cup at my largest when ds was around 6 months before my boobs started reducing as he ate more solid food. I am a bit at being an E so early! I wonder what on earth size I will be once I start feeding a LO.

Pops78 · 28/07/2009 21:58

Hi all, yippee scan brill and was so cool to c our baby finally and be assured all was well. Chinook - so pleased your scan went well too, was of course also thinking about u!
On a down note have however had worse evening of ms and ended up in floods of tears as was just in despair with non stop being sick. Trying to calm myself down though by looking at my baby scan pic :-)

becks130 · 29/07/2009 08:31

Morning,

Pops and Chinook, Congratulations on your scans.

I had a really bad evening last night, was sent home from work as I work on my own in the evening and I got my horrendous headache back but on top of that I was feeling really light headed and sick

I have to wait till next Friday for my scan, it seems so far away!

skibelle · 29/07/2009 11:14

Hi everyone,
Congratulations on your scans. I feel a bit behind everyone. Lots of people in RL seem to be ahead of me too. Should look at March thread to make myself feel better! My combined scan is next Thurs so I feel your impatience Becks! Seems like it will never come.

Am going through a bit of a worrying spell at the mo for no real reason. Still feel v sick and sore boobs but keep reading about people who had MMCs with lots of symptoms, so am trying to put it to the back of my mind and not read too much! We seem to have told lots of people now, which we didn't really intend to do. Whoops.

Bought some super comfy Topshop mat jeans the other day. They're brilliant -think I should wear them all the time! I could pass for at least 7 months gone after eating. I'm still only 10+3, but the only thing that stops me feeling sick is to eat so I am enormous

Anyway, sorry to go on about me a bit. It's like therapy! Love hearing al your news. Stay well! x

becks130 · 29/07/2009 11:19

just a quick question, has anyone had strange not so much pain but feeling far down in the pelvis? I've had these strange feelings for the past hour and have not idea what it is, i've never had them before.

devotion · 29/07/2009 12:01

Yippee on the scans!

Becks - i get so many different niggles, it could just be everything softening and stretching. If you are worried, call your midwife x

I am 14 weeks now and I am so sure I am feeling the baby move now. Sounds to early though but I see someone else has felt it about 14 weeks too. I did not feel my other babies move until 19 weeks.

Im sure it is, right at the front like a little pop!

Three were really close together.

Pops78 - sending you big hugs! Poor you with all the vomiting! I dont know how you cope. But now you have a pic of your little one it is sure to help.

I feel bad complaining about my sickness because its nothing compared to yours. But its really getting me down. Even more is the tiredness. I have two dd's who are so bored of their complaining mummy.

I have no energy to take them to the park. They've spent alot of time indoors. I just hope my energy will return in the next few weeks for their sake!

My youngest was moaning an hour ago, took her temp and it was 38.7 so given her soem nurofen, couch and cbeebies! Poor thing, hops its not swine flu!

Watercress - wondering how you are, not seen you on here for a bit. Hope you are feeling better!

Take care

ktpie · 29/07/2009 16:32

Had my scan this morning and it was fine, dates match mine as well. It all seems a lot more real now!

Devotion - I'm hoping that my energy will suddenly return as well, fed up of feeling so tired. I felt movements for the first time at the weekend, at 13 weeks.

Becks - maybe it is the baby moving?

Better go, got loads to do, hope you are all feeling well today.

scoobyd00 · 29/07/2009 18:13

Excellent news about the scans.

Don't worry skibelle you're not being left behind, I'm due around the same time as you and my scan's not until 10th Aug. It seems ages away!

I've stil only had mild pregnancy symptoms so either it's bad news or I'm one of the lucky ones. I'm hoping it's the later. Pops your ms sounds awful - I must count my lucky stars! I'm having a bad day if I can't face the gym/gentle jog!

I've got a hen do this weekend and I've somehow got to get out of Go Ape and 2 nights of drinking without giving the game away. As I've been on fertility treatment for so long I'll think I'll use that as an excuse. I feel so bad telling porky pies! Only 10 days to go then if all is ok we can go public!

becks130 · 29/07/2009 20:33

I CAN'T WAIT TIL I GET TO 12 WEEKS!!! I just can't relax and feel positive about this pregnancy, it is really starting to upset me as I wish that I could enjoy it. I think I'm going to rent a doppler, my Dr found the heartbeat easely on Monday so you are able to hear it on one. My DH thinks that I have gone mad and that it's a waste of money but I'm thinking if it helps put my mind at rest it's good isn't it.

Sorry rant over! How is everyone?

TheOldestCat · 30/07/2009 13:42

Glad to hear about good scans and some people feeling better. Scooby - my scan's on the same day as you, so will think of you too. Like you, I can't wait to go public, although I'm guessing lots of people have their suspicions...

Becks - try not to worry too much, you'll get there! I'm 10 weeks and can't wait until the 12 week mark so I share your pain.

Hope you're all feeling ok today - am off to scoff some cake (only thing that manages to keep the sickness at bay - a spare tyre round my middle is a small price to pay!).

devotion · 30/07/2009 13:54

Gp reckons my three year old has swine flu - grrrrrreat!

Told me to give her tamiflu, last night she was SO ill but today seems ill but alot better.

Nt sure I am doing the right thing giving it to her now! So stressful with so much conflicting advice.

I wonder how Watercress is? She has not been on here. I am so worried I will get it now.

CaractacusPotty · 30/07/2009 14:19

Afternoon.

Great news on all the scans . Less great news on all the MS , let's hope it starts to improve soon. I actually had 2 hours without feeling sick and managed to take the boys out for lunch with some mates. Normal service has since resumed... I'm with you, devotion, far too much cbeebies going on here, but I'd rather that than I was grumpy with them because I'm sick and tired...

Scooby - at you still getting for runs and to the gym. I feel like all the fitness I've worked hard to build up this year has just disappeared.

devotion - hope your dd feels better soon. I guess if you do get it, at least it's probably better to get it now than in the winter time. So, sick, tired, flu - how much fun is that going to be Cbeebies is the only answer (no I don't have shares!!). Like you, hoping Watercress is ok.

watercress · 30/07/2009 14:59

Hello all,

Sorry to disappear for a while. The swine flu really wiped me our and I'm still incredibly tired so doing anything at all has been a huge effort. I've been back at work this week and it's taking all my energy.

It's a bit frustrating because a couple of weeks ago, I was feeling a lot less sick and tired and now I'm back to where I was. And it's not helped by DD, who has been waking up for hours each night with a nasty cough - the GP thinks she may have asthma.

Sounds like people are starting to feel better and there have been some good scans and appointments. I had my MW booking this morning, which was fine (a bit of digging for blood, but nothing new there). They did try and find the heartbeat, but said it was a bit early and their machine wasn't very good, so I'm trying not to be worried that they couldn't. My scan is the week after next, so fingers crossed that all is well in there.

Like a couple of other people, I've been convinced that I can feel movement. But maybe I'm just going mad!

Adding to the worry in the Watercress household is the fact that DH, who lost his job a few months ago, has been offered a brilliant new job. The only thing is that he'll have to spend Monday to Friday every week for the first three months 250 miles away. While part of me knows that DD and I would cope (though I work a long way away and would need to do all the childcare runs myself, which is really going to be pushing it timewise), I am worried that I'm going to struggle a bit, espeially as last time I got carpal tunnel syndrome and couldn't drive.

Sorry for self-indulgent post, but I'm a bit stressed about lots of things. Probably best if I disappear again for a while.

Take care all x

devotion · 30/07/2009 15:59

Dont be silly!

Thats what we are here for.

Sounds like you are over the worst of it. Did you take the relenza and did you have any side effects like wheezing.

Sorry to hear about your dd, my brother had asthma but grew out of it. Hopefully your dd will too. Can you get a second opinion because my dd hd bad cough before and gave me an inhaler but i waited a couple of days and she as fine and no problems since.

Congrats on the job but i totally understand how you must feel about the travel. Three months does go very fast and you would deserve total rest at the weekends.

Is there anyway around it that he starts just three days and slowly build up to five days? They have to understand?

I dont know about carpal tunnel syndrome - is there anyway of reducing your chances of getting it again.

Does anyone at her nursery live close to you?

What about public transport? I dont drive so just use to using it especially when travelling to work.

Good to hear from you and that you are a pregnant Swine Flu survivor

Take care

raindroprhyme · 30/07/2009 20:56

hi ladies
been lurking for last couple of weeks.
had my scan today, lovely wriggly baby in there.
finally feel like i can breathe and start to enjoy this pregnancy now.
hated being at the hospital tho so conformation this baby wil be born at home. was just so nervous evening pulling into the car park.
new date too altho list seems to have disappeared.
baby will arrive 2/2/10

devotion · 30/07/2009 22:36

Welcome and congratulations to raindroprhyme. Why were you so nervous driving into the hospital car park?

Is it your first baby or did you have a bad experience at a hospital before.

I've had two babies at hospital, I did not get to go into the natural birthing unit at the hospital as it was full both times but I still got to have two natural births at hospital and both times I was really happy with the treatment during and after. I was looked after so well.

Just thought I'd let you know that there are many positive experiences and to not worry about having to maybe go in if things dont work out at home.

I would love to have a home birth but my partner is not comfortable with it so I need him to be totally relaxed next to me and not a bunch of nerves

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Take care
x

becks130 · 31/07/2009 13:06

Welcome and congratulations Raindroprhyme.

Like you Devotion I would love to have a home birth but my DH is also VERY nervous about it so I have decided to go to the Birthing Centre within my hospital, that way it is a little more comfortable but Dr's are available if needed.

I've had a lovely relaxing day, my mum has taken DS out for the day and had him overnight last night, bliss.

I received my doppler today and I found a heartbeat almost straight away, it really has put my mind at ease so well worth the money.

Hopefully we should all start to feel better in the next couple of weeks as the 12 week mark nears.

chinook · 31/07/2009 14:50

Hello everyone. Glad you are on the mend Watercress and hope your dd is too devotion.

Got the results of my blood test today and I am 1 in 7400 for Downs. Don't think that's too bad for an old bird of 37 like me! I am determined to stop worrying now and actually enjoy this pregnancy.

I don't think I am brave enough for a home birth but my midwife has highly recommended a local Birthing Centre to me. She said they only deliver 300 babies a year there so you have everyones full attention and are allowed to take things at your own pace. I plan to check it out before I make my decision.

Is anyones ms definitely better yet? I still feel exactly the same and have had some awful headaches this week. The sonographer said symptoms often disappear at 13 weeks when the placenta takes over. Well that is today, so bring it on!

This is a long post for me. I have set dd up washing her dolls in the kitchen sink and I am trying to ignore the pools of water on the floor. Well it beats Peppa Pig!

Have a good weekend

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 31/07/2009 21:08

hi all finally had a letter with scan date of the 14th Aug!!!woo hoo think i will be about 13 weeks by then but we shall see!!!!LOL

hope everyone is ok,

have a great weekend ladies xxx

raindroprhyme · 31/07/2009 21:34

this is my third and had lovely natural births in hospital with the other two.

Very bizarre my sudden aversion to the hospital.

my DS2 has a genetic condition so we are involved with the children's hospital quite a bit for him but it is on a diffeerent site to teh maternity unit.

May be something to do with feeling DS2 belongs to the hospital in lots of ways so want to keep this bubba to myself in every way.

DH is just glad i don't want to free birth, came across some sights when reaearching home birthing pools. He was a little freaked out.

he is planning to be in the birthing pool playing xbox for the duration. at least i will know where he is
