It does babe , I was on my knees for 3 days of 6 feeds a night!
Lasts no more than a week usually, hang on in there everyone, you're doing fabulously well!

Diege I haven't forgot my guess I'm just on my phone will post it when I get on laptop.

GYo you should've posted up, that's what we're here for woman! Liklihood is one of us will have been through the same thing.

Kayz do you me to post up the gf bed routine for ds2's age?

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 21/05/2009 09:07

Does seem to be a common issue then!

Sorky - DH sleeping in spare room partly because he normally takes up nearly two-thirds of the bed anyway, I'm paranoid about one of us rolling on DS (and this kind of halves the risk in my head) and also I'm sleeping with bedside light on so I can see DS as soon as one of us stirs. I can easily sleep with lamp on but DH has never been able to sleep with light on.

DH goes back to work Tues. My cousin's coming back for the day then and I have another friend over Wed pm and mum is around too so hopefully should be ok.

lardybump · 21/05/2009 09:10

FGS Owen has just been so sick he has bought up a whole feed..... It is hard enough with out this!!! Ladies when I see you on saturday I will be the plump one with the black eyes and smelling of sick.... Must go and clean myself up now... Will be back on later this afternoon!!

sorkycakey · 21/05/2009 09:12

I hope you have some luck with the transition to Moses basket then Ses. I could never get enough sleep once I had to wake up enough to pick them up
Luckily cosleeping seems to work for us but we do have a very big bed perhaps that helps, I don't know.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 21/05/2009 09:12

Thanks for advice though.
DH really did surpass himself in the first week and he is v good with DS. I'll try and think of the things he can do to help at feedtime.

12 week growth spurt sounds quite scary!! LB - I know it's been said but I'm in awe of how well you've done with everything the last few months have thrown at you!

lardybump · 21/05/2009 09:13

ses I only live in maidstone so could be at yours with in an hour so if you fancy a meet up when dh goes back to work or a little help just give me a shout and i will be down the M26 faster than lighning..... he he he he right i really must go and change even I dont like the smell of my babies sick... poo weeeeeee

lardybump · 21/05/2009 09:16

well not in maidstone with all the other ruffions you understand but rather in a little village outside....

glaskham · 21/05/2009 09:17

I never had any problems with DH and BFing- seems i'm the only one... though saying that he's more the sort of man to start 'bonding' with them better once they're a little older and he'll sit for hours pulling faces etc, shaking rattles... so the first few weeks he always gives me and baby enough time together to get ourselves into a routine.... think he knows i'd flip if he ever offered to give a bottle too!!

He's always been 110% behind my BFing, and was the one telling me not to introduce the bottle when the nurses told us to- he said we knew best etc etc... he's got my back he has!!

Its nice to see him bonding more with DD2 now she's getting to be awake more etc, in an evening he'll have her on his chest while i sort tea out, then he'll have her after feeds in the evening, usually she'll just sleep on him so he'll wrap his arms round her and read a book or play on his ds...

LB- seems we're all getting the growth spurt- i think ours lasted 4 days here, first day i just thoguht she was feeding more, but after the second day i knew it was something more!! last night she went back to normal feeding and only woke me twice!!

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 09:17

Yes please Sorky. That would be great. He is a wonderful sleeper but will just not go upstairs to sleep before we go up.

juleswastink · 21/05/2009 09:17

morning

kay regarding sleeping i used to worry about dd2 waking dd1 when started crying would leave dylan in the cot and he should eventually go off .

brackens routine is as follows :-

obviously realise that dylan is older bracken is 4 months old:-

has a bath @ 5:30pm
last feed 6-6:30pm then put her into cot.
we wake and feed her @ 10pm
then she sleeps till 7am

she has daytime naps in cot in sleeping bag @ 9-10am 12-2:15pm

congrats mitm lovely name
congrats aunty lb

haveing a quiet one here

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 21/05/2009 09:17

Aww thanks LB
We can compare the bags under our eyes!

glaskham · 21/05/2009 09:22

sorry Kayz- it was pouring so didn't text- but sorky's on it for you now so you'll have soem more tips/hints etc.

LB- plump? i've seen your FB pics- you're not plump at all!!

Ses- I was too scared to co-sleep with DD2 as she's so tiny, but i've accidentally fallen asleep while feeding her now, and we're fine. Apparently BFing mums have a natural 'thing' where they lie in a way to protect their baby, stopping them roll over the baby and so they feel anyone else close... thats what my HV said the other week when she suggested co-sleeping to me (yes, a HV actually suggested it to me!!)

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 09:25

It's true Glask. You sort of bring up your knees so that they can't move down the bed. The funny thing is that DH also slept in the exact same postition as I did so maybe Dads have a 'natural thing' too.

glaskham · 21/05/2009 09:29

right- i really can't spend all day on here... DH is home at 2ish as DD2 has her second jabs this afternoon... and as the cats have gone i'm going to have a mega blitz and make the house as tidy and cat-hair free as is humanly possible in a morning!!

So i'm going to guilt myself into it by writing a list of jobs i'll be doing and can only sto and chat once i've done them all!!

  • clean where cats bowls and litter trays were
  • sort the PC desk
  • hoover upstairs and down
  • change all bedding
  • clean bathroom
  • iron the last pile of clothing on the dining table
  • put the clothes all away
  • put washing load into dryer and new load in washing maching
  • was breakfast pots and clean round kitchen

think thats as much as i'm gonna attempt....

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 09:32

Ooooh Glask I'll join you!!

-clean and sort PC desk
-tidy front room
-clean kitchen
-finish washing up
-hoover
-descale iron
-tidy bathroom

See you when it's finished!!

Diege · 21/05/2009 09:37

Morning! Thanks for new thread GYO (is that right?) Sorry, mind is a mush yet again! Soem really interesting comments regarding growth spurts, dhs etc. Have been relatively lucky with mine, as he's happy to take on board stuff with the older ones etc. Don't think I have that natural sleep position thing! Remember so-sleeping with dd1 (bf) and her ending up under covers at foot of bed one morning - was very scary!
So sunny for Saturday, yes!!! Rain pelting it down here so a bit of sun would be very welcome. Can't believe I'll be catching the train to York tomorrow evening!
Frined coming round this morning with her 4 chilren, and then booster jabs for dd3 this afternoon, and midwife appointment for me. Dh is coming back at midday to help out - rain, public transport, crying 3 yr old and the school run are way beyond my capabilities at the moment!
Sorry for the me post! Back later, still have stuff to mark

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 09:42

Arghhhh!!

Why is it that DS1 hates sitting in his highchair even at dinner time but as soon as we want to put DS2 in there, he throws a huge tantrum, climbs in and the even straps himself in!!

idreamofbeanie · 21/05/2009 10:03

Hi all, sorry I haven't been posting much. I have had a horrid d+v virus thing so have been lying on the sofa reading through posts but just had no energy to reply . Loads better today thank God so will still be able to make Saturday without passing on the lurgy. Really looking forward to it!

Nat - I'm really sorry you are having to make such a difficult decision but it sounds like you have really thought through what is best for you and DCs. I was 8 when my parents separated which I think is just a bit older than your DC1 (is that right) so if it would help to know a bit about how my family dealt with it (the good, the bad and the ugly!) let me know.

CONGRATULATIONS MinM!!!

Hi IDOB
sorry you've been poorly, so miserable when pregnant. Glad you are on the mend.

Kayz- am sure ds2 will adjust with perserverance. Im sure you've tried itg but when i try to get dd to sleep upstairs during the day I often have to go up when she cries, comfort her & put her back, usually several times but she gets idea eventually.

LB, Ses- am not far either. would love to join in the fun

Hi Sorky, Diege, Glask

OP posts:
glaskham · 21/05/2009 10:26

Morning IDOB- can i ask about the maternity stuff? do you want to have the size 14 cargo pants and PJ's? just another MNer has asked for photo's, wont be sending her any of the size 16's but wasn't sure what you'd decided on them 2 things...

Sorry you've been poorly- its not nice when PG!! Glad your one the mend and able to make sat still!!

God- i forgot what proper hard work was like... and how time consuming it is...

Have curently done:

  • washed all pots and cleaned kitchen to within an inch of its life- it actually resembles something like a kitchen now!!
  • hoovered downstairs.
  • scrubbed the floor/area the cats food was... i never knew the floor was that colour!!
  • Put washer load in dryer and new load in washing maching
  • tidied PC desk....

having a rest as i'm tired already... give me 10mins and i'll start the ironing- think i have the cleaning bug today!!

idreamofbeanie · 21/05/2009 10:40

Morning Glask - I'm really not sure the size 14 bits will fit. If no-one else wanted them I would have given them a try but if another MNer is interested why don't I just stick to the size 16s and you can send her the size 14 bits. Is that okay?

glaskham · 21/05/2009 10:55

Haha- X-texted!!

have just taken photo's of it all- can't actually believe i had so much to be honest!! most of it was barely worn!! I'm a little sad seeing it go as maternity clothing is my fave clothing ever!! But i'm never gonna wear them again, no point keeping them for sentiment!!

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 11:04

-clean and sort PC desk doing
-tidy front room
-clean kitchen done
-finish washing up done
-hoover
-descale iron doing
-tidy bathroom

Thought as I am cleaning the PC desk I might as well be on MN too!!

glaskham · 21/05/2009 11:21

haha!! i've only just finished sending the email about the maternity clothes- haven't done the ironing yet!!

glaskham · 21/05/2009 11:22

just realised the time too- will have to get DD's ready to collect DS now, so can't do anything till after lunch now... so i'll have around 1hr after lunch to make the house dazzle before DH gets home!!
