Morning all... DS slept from 9 till 3 last night but was again up every hour from then. Butsee here any advise would be good...

Diege sorry about piles, I know how you feel I really suffered with them with ds. Didn't have any with dd... hope gp just takes your word for it...

LBOT hope yours clear up soon as well. But get them treated because if you dont the bleeeding could effect your iron levels...

Ses he could be picking up on stress if you are feeling abit worried about today... Try to relax and let him decide what to do.... I really hope today goes well I am sure he will have put on weight!!

hi to everyone else...

sorky · 12/06/2009 13:01

Hi LB have replied.
Ds2 has been asking to be picked up more as well. I stop what I'm doing immediately and pick him up, he has a 4 or 5 second cuddle, then wants to be down again.
I think this is possibly down to Dd2's appearance and him simply wanting to know that he is still important

Diege, I thought you had to be +/- 4cm before they worried. Could it be the way the m/w measured you perhaps? Sorry for piles, sound horrid.
It won't be long now

Mattress is wonderful! It's like lying on a cloud!

Woohoo for norkage Moos, make the most of it

Waves to all, kids are dragging me away.

Diege · 12/06/2009 13:27

Hello! LB, sounds like problems with dd could well bge due to appearnace of ds, although having said that all of mine started the same lark at age 2, when no new baby here. It's really frustrating, esp when nothing seems to work (I remember dd2 making herself sick in her bed if we ignired her - happy days..)but it is just a stage. I think we struggled through with a mixture of controlled crying (from me) and dh getting all soppy and sleeping on floor by bed (too well-trained.)Dd3 has just started to do the same, so feeling some of your pain.

SORKY, have vision of you being frog-marched away from computer by dcs .
Great news on norkage front MOOS! If you're anything like me make the most of it . Have had 2 rather swanky bf vests delivered, along with my support knicks this morning. Strangely enough a purchase that I can't get excited about. And the knicks look awfully small..Still better too small than too big when it comes to tummy control I suppose!

Interesting about measurements etc SORKY..I've just got off the phone from speaking to the supervisor of midwives, as was concerned what would happen re: birth plan if I went into labour before appointment with 'suspected' ph but no diagnosis (I do get myself wound up about these things..)She said it would normally be a measurement of 3-4cm over, and a referral to day unit to confirm by 2 separate mws, before a scan was ordered and then possible diagnosis, so didn;t seem too concerned. Said that mw yesterday would have referred to day unit today if she had been concerned, rather than leaving till next week.
Looking at my notes again, my mw has actually written down 40cm (she had said 41cm), so according to my notes I'm only 1.5 weeks ahead . She also said that where there were underlying problems, they would almost always see polyhydramniosis developing week by week, far earlier on. She says if I went into labour before next Thursday that they would assess me properly beforehand, to see if there were any concerns about fluid levels etc, but that usually in mild cases you can still have your active birth etc. So nice just to have a conversation with someone who actually listens! She must be a mumsnetter Sorry for going on a bit about this but needed to get it out!
SES, please don;t worry too much about weigh-in, I'm sure all will be fine When is your appointment?

lastboxoftampons · 12/06/2009 13:31

Ses - could DS be slightly uncomfortable from his procedure still? Don't want you to think that he is in pain or anything, but I suppose if you can't find any other reasons for fussing, that could be one?

LB - I agree with Sorky RE: your DD. When my neice was born nephew, though fully trained, started wetting the bed at night. They also said that he was distracted at nursery school/didn't want to go. The teacher felt he thought he was missing out on what was going on at home. I think the appearances of LO's affect them for a bit until they get used to the idea.

As for my piles (and again, sorry this is so TMI! ) they never hurt or itch, it's just when things get, um, backed up, there's straining and blood. I never thought to have them checked out, I just switch to caffeinated coffee instead of the usual decaf for a few days, eat some raisins and hope for the best. It usually goes away.

sorky · 12/06/2009 13:35

All in know Diege is that when I was sent for a growth scan with Dd2, the consultant said it was the way the m/w had measured me and because my uterus was a bit lax ( cheeky wench) when I lay down the baby could move a bit more (this was at 32 weeks though).

Sure enough, when the consultant measured me properly, ie, over where she was actually lying, I was spot on for dates. She scanned me anyway and said all was fine.

She was 8lb 12.

I think it's been the m/w tbh. At this stage of your pg if they were even remotely concerned they'd be talking about a scan, then a week later another scan then maybe induction, by which time you'll def have had him.

I mean, look at how long Nat had to go back and forth before they did anything for her, and she really did have a little tiddler.

Bigger babies are easier to birth anyway

Diege · 12/06/2009 13:36

LBOX, re: piles wait until you get to 38 weeks then the itchies start . Oh and caffeinated coffee has same effect on me

lastboxoftampons · 12/06/2009 13:39

Diege - sorry, Xposted. Did you consult your Doula? She may have some advice?

Diege · 12/06/2009 13:39

Thanks SORKY! He is lying head down, sideways down apparently, which I presume may have made my bump stick out more! I've also had the uterus comment (though 'knackered' was the adjective they used for me ). So what's this about bigger babies being easier to birth???!!! They just rip you in 2 and fall out?

Diege · 12/06/2009 13:40

Yes LBOX, doula actually rang this morning after I'd spoken to her yesterday after appointment. She advised me to ring supervisor as she knew I'd still be stressed today

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 12/06/2009 15:25

HV just been for Owen's weigh in. He has gained weight but not a huge amount - 2.5oz in a week. That still only makes him 7lb 13oz when his birth weight was 8lb 9oz and he's 5 weeks tomorrow.
Guess I just need to be pleased that this is his highest weight except for his birth weight and he's headed in the right direction now.
HV seemed tempted to refer us to GP but didn't and is coming back for another weigh in on Monday.

Diege - glad you're feeling a bit better. The more I think about it, the more just a couple of cm over really doesn't seem that significant.

julesisoneyearolder · 12/06/2009 15:54

hi ses - glad owen has put on weight
bump - have replied on other thread
diege - u r a worrier like me

how r your los feeding and sleeping brackens routine is as follows:-

7:30am - feed - 3ozs
9-9:45am - sleep
11am - feed - 5ozs and puree plus rice
12-2:30pm - sleep
2:30pm - feed - 3ozs
6pm - feed - 5ozs

she seems to have got into pattern of how much she eats @ certain times since weaning

sorky · 12/06/2009 16:15

Jules that doesn't sound like very much milk

julesisoneyearolder · 12/06/2009 16:20

oh ye whoops and

10pm - 5ozs

in total - 21ozs a day

sorky · 12/06/2009 16:26

@ whoops!

I don't anyone else has weaned yet Tink, sorky baby still feeds when she wants to, but seems to be becoming a bit more regular I've noticed this last week or so.

I'm not planning on using purees, but did buy some bibs, spoons and matching bowls from Asda the other day and guess what?........ They're PINK!

sorky · 12/06/2009 16:32

Argh, stoopid phone.
That shouldve said "I don't think anyone else has weaned.

julesisoneyearolder · 12/06/2009 16:33

hi starting weaning her on hv recomendations @ 4 mnths same as i did for dd1

she has had all sorts of purees - green bean, sweet p,pear, apple, carrot etc gr8 fun

Diege · 12/06/2009 16:50

Back from GP who prescribed me rectogesic for piles (she says it's fine in pregnancy but leaflet says not to use - any advice SES??), co-cocodamol for after pains (hee hee eh Sorky ) and lactolose for side effects of the last one . I needed some for dd3 anyway, so all happy
TINKS, looks like good milk/food mix. I remember with dd1 having to include lots of yogurts etc as she went off milk at around 6 months!
Great news of weight gain SES- I think sensible to avoid referral. I know it's not quite what you wanted, but if he's putting weight on surely he's heading in the right direction? Do you feel better after the appointment or more stressed?
Oh and doula is dropping off her birth video tonight . Poor dh doesn't seem keen at all bless him

lastboxoftampons · 12/06/2009 17:11

Diege, glad you got all your drugs, LOL! Now are we going to have this baby by the end of this thread, or is your little guy hanging on for his own, brand, spanking new one???

Ses - Yay for Owen! That's fantastic! Not a huge amount, but a gain nonetheless and as Diege says, headed in the right direction!

Went to mothercare at lunch time to look at the Bee again - the sales person was having a hell of a time folding it and demonstrating for me But I think we're probably going to go with it. It's really probably the best for our needs. Also popped into Primark as I thought it might be a good idea to pick up some t-shirts for me, for now in a bigger size and then some huge ones for the birth. But OMG, it's a ZOO!!!! i've never been in one before!

Cutest thing though - on the tube on the way back to work, there was a little boy sitting and his dad was standing in front of him. He was telling his dad to move and he said "You KNOW I need to watch the closing doors" He thought that every time they made the Watch the Closing Doors announcement, he actually had to watch them close. Bless!

Diege · 12/06/2009 17:16

That's so cute aboiut the little boy watching the doors LBOX. Know what you mean about the bee; was my choice but went with pliko prammette in end due to buggy board issues/height of pram. Saw one the other day though and felt .
I'll have to post frantically when I go into labour so that we reach the 1000 and I get a brand new thread

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 12/06/2009 17:20

Sorky/Jules - weaning sounds like a whole other ball game! I'll park that one for a few months!

Diege - thanks for asking.. was initially more stressed as still have the weigh ins continuing but if it was his tongue causing a problem, he's only had 2 and a half days for it to have made a difference... Just now focussing on Monday. Bet you I'll feel lost when they do stop weighing him!
Rectogesic basically hasn't had full clinical trials in pg. I'd say logically there is no reason it can cause any problem at this stage. Have you tried any other otc treatments such as germoloids?

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 12/06/2009 17:27

LBOX - that story about the little boy made me smile
Can unerstand your buggy dilema. Sounds like Bee might be easier on public transport.

lastboxoftampons · 12/06/2009 17:27

But Ses, if it is down to his tongue tie, he might've gained the 2.5oz in the past two days!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 12/06/2009 17:27

Now that would be good!

Diege · 12/06/2009 17:36

Thanks for the info' SES! Have tried anosul which worked initally but now is having no effect. GP said this was the next stage really, and did say a few women had contacting her re: the leaflet and pregnancy, but it was basically a 'no clincial trials on pregnant women jobby' and she didn't know of any problems in research studies etc. Think I'll give it a go anyway as I am in sooo much pain!
Oh and I think you're right about waiting for effects of tongue tie op to kick in; I'm sure you'll see another gain on Monday, but even if not I can't see a problem. I think the appointments would hang over me, but then I am at the extreme end of the worry continuum!
