have thoughts on me havinga hair perm ladies

sorkycakey · 21/05/2009 12:49

is it for volume Tink or curls?

glaskham · 21/05/2009 12:51

sorry i'm a bit dim dangerous precedents?? isn't that like 'cursing' myself or something?

lastboxoftampons · 21/05/2009 12:54

Meaning - don't do too much so that your DH expects it all the time!

glaskham · 21/05/2009 12:55

tink- if its for volume and you're prepared to blowdry it after you wash it then no probs... if for the curls i'd say probs not, but probably because i just have horrid memories of my mums god-awful perms in the 80's when i was a kid!!

glaskham · 21/05/2009 12:57

ahh i get you... something told me it was like 'setting myself up for a fall' sort of thing.... i'm a woman of small words!!

ahh he knows not to expect it at all!! i normally do the majority of my housework in an evening so its a very rare occasion thet he comes home and anything's changed since when he left in the morning!!

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 13:01

Glask I was about to say EXACTLY the same RE perms!! My mums were bloody terrible!!!

LBOT, Just say to BIL "At least I have an excuse, What's yours?" Works brilliantly!!

We can't use booster seats because we have these terrible fold up chairs and it won't go on.

glaskham · 21/05/2009 13:02

right... DD1 fed and sleeping, nearly finished lunch, just gonna have a muller corner then i'm gonna go and wash lunch pots then start upstairs!!

glaskham · 21/05/2009 13:03

i'd say a second highchair may be needed then!! thing is haircuts have changed with the times- sadly perms haven't...

glaskham · 21/05/2009 13:16

sorry didn't explain the highchair thing... i meant to say maybe one where the tray comes off and you can adjust it to different heights so he's sat up to the table? we did this with DS for a while as he was too small for a booster up to the table but hated being in his highchair.

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 13:18

We're getting him this one

juleswastink · 21/05/2009 13:23

looks good kay

ye for curls
feel like a change off to a 30th on sun eve
had a perm when 13,16 and early 20s

glaskham · 21/05/2009 13:32

dont know if this would be bettet to buy for DS2 and then DS1 go onto a normal chair as soon as he's big enough? We had one for DD1 and have bought this one for DD2... can't wait to use it-!

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 13:37

That is quite tempting actually.

glaskham · 21/05/2009 13:38

they're really nice and really sturdy, DD1 was in hers until i broke it when she was about 2yo, but it would ahve taken DS at that time still and he was 3.5yo... so could even be used for DS1 maybe? ideal to take out to family too when staying for lunch/dinner etc..

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 13:41

Just not sure if our table will hold it though.

glaskham · 21/05/2009 13:42

just found it £10 cheaper on ebay here

lastboxoftampons · 21/05/2009 13:42

Kay I like the one you picked out - seems very versatile and has uses other than just being a highchair for DS1. If he's picky at the big table, you can have him sit at his very own...and it's affordable too.

Tink - from personal experience, I wouldn't. But my hair never permed well.

glaskham · 21/05/2009 13:45

ahh... what sort is it? if its a folding one can it go on the centre section where the feet support the weight? We have a pretty darn sturdy solid cherry oak table so have no problems with having a 2-3 stone weight on one end!!

sorkycakey · 21/05/2009 13:49

we have 2 of these

I think ikea also do a cheaper version

Tink I wouldn't go curly. Why not ask on the Style topic for ideas

Kayzr · 21/05/2009 13:51

It's a folding one so yeah it could go in the centre

juleswastink · 21/05/2009 14:02

cheers sorky

red chair looks good

lardybump · 21/05/2009 14:28

Hello everyone.

Can I sterilise DS Bottles (only way he takes gaviscone now) with boiled water only when I go to york? Also the expresser? Also will expressed milk be ok out of a fridge for the day if it is in a cooling bottle bag???

DD is in a booster seat now and ds will have her highchair

sorkycakey · 21/05/2009 14:39

could you take some Milton fluid with you?
I'd have thought that the hotel would sterilize them for you. Ebm is good for 24 hours once defrosted.

lardybump · 21/05/2009 14:45

Thanks for that sorky I might have to buy some milton then (only have microwave one here).. I will sort it out!!! I might leave him for one day without gaviscon just to see if it is reducing his sickness at all...
