Blotted My mum has a sewing machine that I've been dropping hints about (I've never seen her use it - she has a variety of Home Economic style gadgets for home and kitchen (I remember a groovy orange yoghurt maker from when was a kid, I'd love to know what happened to that) that she's never used. She can't cook for a start, which is why my brother and I learnt as soon as possible from my beloved Granddad!!). So yes please to email (I'm also trying to reacquaint myself with knitting too ha!). I'm [email protected]. It just looked so clever and (hopeful emoticon) relatively straightforward.

Oh and I too cleaned out the detergent drawer on my washing machine yesterday. It is, indeed, a vital job when heavily pregnant - I can reach it for one thing

Now you see, talk of peeling back foreskins reminds me why I don't want a boy. Ex-H was circumcised, I like to mention this now and then to DH to see him turn white and shake. He did the same when I suggested perhaps a vasectomy? [evil laughing witch emoticon]

Me & DD2 have just eaten one of my double chocolate chip (possibly triple cc if cocoa, dark chocolate chunks and milk chocolate chips are triple choc) cookies that I made earlier. They are heavenly. And now DD2 has decreed that sausage, mash and beans is what is desired for tea.

tummum Without seeing your lo's willy I can't really say what it is. It's would definitely be a good idea to let him lie without a nappy for a little while after a nappy change, obviously wee proof everything around him when you do, you know what boys are like If it gets worse get someone to have a look at it. Do you think he's sore when weeing? Is it just his willy or is it spreading to his bum too? As for water, I think that drinking 1.5l a day like recommended a day is enough. You could drink an extra pint a day if you feel you're dry, but a pint a feed is a bit much I think.

momino swollen ankles are perfectly normal after delivery. It's all the excess fluid you have in your body during pregnancy that's now sinking to your feet before your body elliminates it, by either sweating or weeing it out.

1stMrsF Great to hear how well the tongue tie snip is working for you and Amelia. It's amazing how such a simple procedure can have such dramatic effects. I hope Reggie sees your post soon. It'll make her feel better

pula thanks for the birth announcements link. Great idea.

SpangleMaker · 06/05/2009 16:31

Tummum H's winkle is like that too.. I've just been making sure it's clean & dry & giving him as much nappy free time as possible (but that's because of nappy rash). It doesn't look too bad & he seems to be ok with it.

Re fluids - I was told that you don't need to take any extra liquids on board for bf-ing, but that's assuming you drink enough fluids (1.5 to 2l per day). I don't know if this is true - I always feel thirsty when I'm feeding but then I think I'm drinking less than normal generally because I just forget. A pint per feed sounds a lot.

Grumpy thanks for asking about H He was weighed today - 7lb 12oz & has put on 11oz in a week. I know we're not getting hung up about weight* but I'm really pleased to see the bf-ing is working.

*speaking of which, how many extra calories is it bf-ing buys you per day? I have a feeling it's 500 but my appetite is saying 5000 Today that has mostly been in apple & blueberry pie & maltesers

Belgianchocolates · 06/05/2009 16:36

ses you wont find the f/b group on f/b without being invited. It's a secret club If I remember rightly it's llare who has got to invite you to join. I also think you've got to be her friend first. You know, it's only been a few months ago, but I've already forgotten how it all worked

I was thinking about cleaning the drawer of my washing machine too, but haven't got past the thinking about it stage yet!

grumpy either way it's always a bit strange when your baby is a different sex from the previous. I went from boy to girl last time and something seemed to be missing during those 1st nappy changes.

I keep having this really odd feeling that every time I look down my bump looks smaller. My mum has reassured me that it's not looking smaller at all I know that's impossible at most it can stop growing, but I still have the oddest feeling that I don't look as pregnant as a few days ago. Weird...

Belgianchocolates · 06/05/2009 16:39

spangle I remember being told that bf takes up the amount of calories that's in a mars bar a day. Not much at all. Glad to hear the bf is going well, btw. It does make you feel proud to know that all that growing baby H is doing is all because of your very own milk and no one elses, doesn't it?

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 06/05/2009 16:41

Thanks Febes and Belgian

Have just been playing around trying to find it so guess that's why!
Llare if you're lurking or when you read this, let me know what I have to do!!

ReeBee · 06/05/2009 16:43

As of about 9am this morning, my washing machine detergent drawer was also clean (and there are no longer coins in the coin trap)... Have also put new glass in some photoframes. However, have signally failed to do anything truly useful like clean the oven or bathroom!

Am sure BFing is 500 calories and all intake must be via medium of cake or of confectionery.

Hope all well, lots of conversation on here today but on the other hand it seems that all of us are doing well on the whole, which is fab.

Off to do some v important TV watching.

Belgianchocolates · 06/05/2009 16:47

Reebee I think you're right. Those extra calories must be taken in cake form, or something equally delicious and nutritious. That's my plan anyway

sophietom · 06/05/2009 16:48

congrats to aquababe and 1MrsF!

Jaffa cakecakecake is cooling- I made it to share with friend but she has been in touch to say she can't come round so me and DP will have to eat it all ourselves

Had awful night last night was awake from 2-5.30 with low back ache and heavy feeling in my groin, ended up sat downstairs reading, then went back to bed and slept till 10 so at least I got some kip- maybe it's my bodies way of preparing me for sleepless nights to come

Just had pervy heavy breathing and obscenities phone call- lovely, am hoping it is a one off

grumpy oooo sausage mash and beans sounds lovely - if I help peel the spuds can I come for tea!

Oh ses I had another look at the f/b page. Fi, pula or dandy can invite you too. I had a look to see if I could do it, but only the administrators can do it.

Belgianchocolates · 06/05/2009 16:53

x-post with dandy, ses. You'll be part of our secret f/b club soon now

pulapula · 06/05/2009 16:57

lol i looked at my washing machine drawer today and was tempted to give it a clean out too, but that was also as far as i got.

ses- i can invite you to join the FB group too. You can email me at pauladotfosteratblueyonderdotcodotuk if that makes sense.

tummum- my DSs willy often goes red at the tip- usually from dirty nappies irritating his skin. metanium or nappy free time usually sort it out. My DH nearly had to have a circumcision a few years ago (as his foreskin is very tight) and he was so glad when he was told it might be OK without! Might send him for the snip soon though . I have declined the sterilisation with my elcs so once we finally decide 3 is enough children, then he will be booked in.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 06/05/2009 16:59

Dandy - thanks! Have just emailed you!

sophietom - at phone calls!!! Not good. Hope your aches and pains are better tonight.

I tried to make sure I was sleeping on my left side last night and have been on my gym ball all afternoon in the hope this LO will be head down tomorrow. I have been sleeping with my feet up on pillows too as I've been getting quite swollen. It's helped with my feet but I'm thinking it may not have helped with positioning of the baby. Any thoughts anyone?

Belgianchocolates · 06/05/2009 17:00

lol I've told my dh that he's going to go for the snip too once we've decided 3 is definitely enough (and the way my pelvis is going it will be enough!) I'm fed up with pills, coils, diaphragms, etc... It's about time that he takes care of things

Belgianchocolates · 06/05/2009 17:01

ses Sit with your bum up in the air and chest on the floor (I know almost impossible), it worked for fi and me!

Jennster · 06/05/2009 17:05

Aquababe Congratulations. Look forward to hearing all about it when you are well enough.

Grumpy I love knitting too, and am not that bad at it, but it's soooo expensive to buy wool now a days isn't it?

Blotted Now how you get Fucker from Rachel I don't know but ds manages it..... There is a really nice story about the name I will explain later when and if bump really is a girl. I saw the recipe for the lemon drizzle, but wan't sure about the extra large eggs. Not having older hens to lay extra large eggs for me I decided it was probably easier just to adapt the jaffa one. Do you think it says extra large because Mary Berry is an old recipe book, or do you think doubling the mixture and using one extra large egg would do the trick?

Belgian It's interesting you mentioned about the deskilling and breech births. When my cmw was discussing the possibility with me yesterday, she said yes I would still be allowed to deliver vaginally (although of course not at home or in water). Being a cmw however, she would never have to deliver a breech, so it would be easy for her to say that wouldn't it? I imagine the hospital would have a different idea. Like you though, I would resist a cs.

Jennster · 06/05/2009 17:18

tummum Best to drink to thirst, but not if you don't drink enough normally if that makes sense. ie drink the normal 1.5L like Belgian suggested, but more if you are thirsty. Don't force yourself to drink. Breastmilk is very clever. More watery when it's hot, and less watery when it's not.

Forgot to mention. I was measured today for nursing bras in a special nursing bra shop. I am now the proud owner of 2 hot milk bras. Shockingly, I was wearing 34D, and I am now in 30F. She would have liked to put me in 28 band but they don't do them . They're not too tight either! this one and this one That's my HiP grant spent! I figure, if I feed as long as I did with the other 2, then I bloody well deserve something nice.

Jennster · 06/05/2009 17:24

Doh This is the second one.

sausagenmash · 06/05/2009 17:26

Jennster its bonkers re bras, isn't it. I measured 34G yeaterday. Wheres all that come from?!

Sophietom - and at the pervy call! Ugh!

Tummum - would advise what everyone else has been saying re LO's willy - I'd steer clear of pulling back the foreskin though, unless absolutely necessary..

Off to stretch myself silly in yoga...

minimenace · 06/05/2009 17:53

Wow blotted that was one fab catch up post I think you managed to get everyone !!

Congratulations aquababe, am guessing that was a phone post - lovely name and good weight. Hope you manage to get home soon to post back to us.

Llare so good to hear all is well with George - he sounds such a happy baby.

grumpy I love the way you mention Ginger kittens and Lemon drizzle cake being your favourite in the same sentence ... sorry but it really made me laugh !!

BelgianC congrats on your chickens egg - maybe it's a sign .... Oooh we do hope so.

nothing further today after last nights excitement - I have been rushing round all day, food shopping, long walk with DS in pushchair hoping it will get started again but nothing. Mind you since I have sat down to read here and catch up I have felt some small tightenings so maybe relaxing brings it on more. Oh well - maybe it's best nothing happens until they confirm the position at the presentation scan tomorrow.

Tummum · 06/05/2009 17:57

Thanks everyone for advice on water and willies (!) Have some yellow bum cream (can't spell it but starts with M) so will use that. Reason for question about water is that, ahem, I am a bit dry when poo-ing which I suspect is my body saying I need more H2O.

Monimo my swollen ankles are even worse now than before birth. My MW says same as Belgian - lots of water to get rid of and it all sinks to your feet. I have been reassured that it will be better in a week but still waiting for improvements...
