Hello Euromum I'd been wondering how you were doing. Good to hear you're well.

Engagement with 2nd or more babies. Well, they don't necesarilly engage before labour and when they do engage they can pop out again too, because the muscles down there are a bit more lacks. I hope that explains. E.g. With me in hospital they could feel 2/5th of the head, a few days later at home the mw felt 3/5th and a few days later again she felt 2/5th. So it's bobbing up and down a bit.

Dandy Lovely to hear you're back and not in labour. Maybe all that walking around the school set off some seriously strong b/h? Anyway, have a rest and hopefully lo will stay put now until you've managed to write a brilliant appeal. We've got a slight situation with schools too. We're moving to the other side of the country, so when we're going to buy a house we want to buy it close to the dcs school, but no school is able to offer us a place unless we can give them an address, which we don't have, because we want to know what school they'll get into first. So it's a catch 22. Finding the right school can be so stressfull.

Spangle new pics of Harvey are gorgeous, he is a real cutie beauty xx

dandy glad you got checked out and no need for panic just yet - this stage is sooo weird isn't it!

ALL TENNIS BALLS IN YOUR LABOUR BAGS - fab to press into lower back in throes of labour esp if stuck on back with a belt monitor on

My LO is app fully engaged and I'm pretty uncomfy - so hope I haev some dilatation going on or will be disapointed on Tuesday.

DD has a viral ear infection which explains her temperature and general unwellness - it is so horrible when littles are poorly Nursery seems to be one virus pit - its one thing after another, grrrrr

Hope I have caught most people - looking forward to hearing about the next few babies due tomo and Friday

Pula snap on the pre preg and preg boob sizes - we must be twins!! I have bought 36F for breastfeeding - will see how we get on but remember melons appearing on day 4 last time

Does milk come in earlier 2nd time round?? Does anyone know??

Sprung cleaned the study today - v pleased with outcome but am shattered so off for clary sage and milk bath now, nite all xx

pulapula · 29/04/2009 22:25

Detsy- my milk came in earlier second time round (3 days rather than 6), and i wasn't quite so engorged either which was a blessing. I had my cabbage leaves all ready too but hardly needed them. It all calmed down within 24 hours maybe?

Febes · 29/04/2009 22:28

I have had some pretty hectic BH tonight. I don't think its anything proper because its not been regular but they have been stronger. I have work tomorrow though so don't want anything happening just yet.

frazzledoldbag · 29/04/2009 22:31

llare - Big, big congrats on your VBAC little boy....can't wait to hear all about it and him. Hope all well with you x

Quick question for water-birth veterans - WHAT DOES ONE WEAR WHEN IN LABOUR IN A BIRTHING POOL IN HOSPITAL - (assuming you don't want to be naked I mean)? If I'm going to be going to this Midwife Led Unit and using a birthing pool (hopefully) I'd like to wear something but imagine a normal T-shirt would just flap about and be annoying. Any suggestions or have you all just been naked and proud?!? OR is it best just to wear a bra? Or WHAT?

(mind you not sure why I'm worrying - in my first labour I ended up totally naked on the bed - no idea how or when during the proceedings that happened! I have a vague recollection of DH tucking a sheet over me between contractions and me kicking it off in a rage

Anyway off for a milk and clary sage bath (like detsy).
Looking forward to my visit to the unit tomorrow. Might be quite exciting!
Night all.
More babies tomorrow I hope x

frazzledoldbag · 29/04/2009 22:34

oh and detsy that's a good tip and luckily I just bought a pack of 3 tennis balls for DD1 this afternoon (for her tennis practice, not for my back obviously) - may have to sneak one upstairs into my labour bag.

Oh and note to self - better get on and pack the labour bag, what with being almost 38wks and all!

Blottedcopybook · 29/04/2009 22:40

Jennster Oooh! How did the cake come out?

Frazz With every single one of mine I was naked, I am not quite sure how it happened but I knew I wanted there to be nothing in the way for skin to skin contact. With DD, I moved from a bath to the birthing pool and was quite happy to be starkers and unrestricted (they only managed to wrap me up in a towel to transport me by wheelchair from the bath to the pool!). Would some kind of bikini top work out for you?

detsy · 29/04/2009 22:44

I ended up ripping my theatre gown off as I was sooo bloody hot - (was in a gown in case I needed surgery ??) So was also starkers and had a fit with my mum as she kept trying to cover up my arse - i mean honestly WHO CARES at that stage

I'm planning/hoping for a water birth and was thinking starkers would be fine again?? Can't stand wet things sticking to me in water.

Have packed on old nighty for birth on land but doubt it would be used TBH

Right bath time

detsy · 29/04/2009 22:47

And think i need a trump or is it BH or is it preppy labour.....

detsy · 29/04/2009 22:49

39 weeks today...
Going now honest... xx

frazzledoldbag · 29/04/2009 22:51

Right am off to rummage in my cupboards and see if I can find anything that might 'do'. Although i expect after a while I'll probably just rip whatever i happen to be wearing off and fling it across the room (gas and air has a similar effect on me as vodka unfortunately!)
Night all. sleep well.x x

frazzledoldbag · 29/04/2009 22:52

ooh ooh was just about to go but detsy I'm all agog now!

minimenace · 29/04/2009 22:53

OMG a new thread and another new announcement - WELL DONE LLARE you star, fantastic and inspiring news about your VBAC can't wait to hear all the gory details.

Belgian Thanks so much for the advice about the sweep - been feeling a tad bruised since so not looking forward to next week but hopefully as you say it will be better positioned.
enjoy your time with DH tomorrow fingers crossed it gets things moving for you.

I've been feeling a bit low and run down today so only just catching up - Oh BTW does anyone know the score on taking eccanasia (sp?) I squeezed 15 drops into a glass of water today and gluped it down and then suddenly thought ... ooooh not sure if I should have done that !! so if anyone can advise before I take another lot tomorrow. Last thing I want to do is get a stinking cold right now so want to fight it off
before it starts.

Anyone hear anything from GERT2A yet ?

And isn't someone else booked in for an ELCS tomorrow - can't find the last list but I'm sure there was - anyway good luck whoever it it - hope all goes well.

Just LOL at Detsy and your Trump confusion ....

frazzledoldbag · 29/04/2009 22:53

Were you on time with Lottie? Or a week early ?

pulapula · 29/04/2009 23:02

minimenace- jael is booked in for tomorrow.

Tummum · 29/04/2009 23:03

Frazz I had WB in DD2 and wore nothing - like Blotted got to the pt where I really didn't care! Really hope you get to have one (a WB) - I loved it (well, as much as you can when in the throes of labour)...

Belgian thanks for the info about engagement. When the ar*e of a consultant felt LO today he said LO wasn't engaged at all I was a bit concerned but now not so worried.

Right, half watching desperate housewives and half trying not to complain about SPD

Tummum · 29/04/2009 23:04

So Dets what's going on then ?!?!

Tummum · 29/04/2009 23:14

Right. Going for another bath (4th of the day) to ease my back. Desperate Housewives was rubbish. Night all.

Tummum · 29/04/2009 23:15

Doing a Detsy now and talking to myself. Blah blah blah blah blah.

Tummum · 29/04/2009 23:18

And DiveDaisy hope you are OK. You sounded pretty tired on the other thread.

Right, really am going to go take my miserable body up the stairs...

Jennster · 29/04/2009 23:19

blotted They look quite dark. After 30 mins at Gas 4 (I too have a thermometer and checked it was the right temp) I could still 'hear' the cake, so moved it down in the oven, turned the heat down to 3 and left it another 5 minutes. I thought it was pretty much done after 30, but left it in. Very impressed. It stopped popping. Will assemble it tomorrow.

minimenace · 29/04/2009 23:37

Ah thanks Pula good luck tomorrow Jael

Feeling shattered so must go now.

Night all. x

Blottedcopybook · 30/04/2009 07:50

Jennster yeah I thought they were darker than normal sponge cakes, I dunno if it's because of the sugar or almonds. Let me know what you think!

divedaisy · 30/04/2009 09:00

congratulations to llareggub!!! Well done babe!!! ANy names picked yet???

Fi - glad to hear your Vet has given you a bit of hope for Douglas. Lets hope his new diet works for him! Come on Douglas - start wagging you tail again boy!

I'm away to find the list and update... back in a mo.
