Grumpy, lol at your idea of relaxing... can you come 'relax' at my house with a few cakes?

FiKelly · 30/04/2009 15:33

msg you must be really looking forward to your first day of ml on mon don't over do it on your last day though!!

Momino · 30/04/2009 15:38

just adding on messages whilst I have the time.

Reggiee, congrats to you and glad to hear all is going well.

Sophietom, about your ibs - maybe it's also your body 'cleaning' itself out before the birth ? never know. hope you feel better anyway.

Momino · 30/04/2009 15:41

i'm supposed to be doing my natal hypnotherapy whilst my sister naps. instead, i'm MNing (and eating biscuits!) . well, i do have it playing in the background.

runningmonkey · 30/04/2009 15:57

Hi all,

congrats Looby good that you are home, sounds like you are doing a brilliant job. No advice from me but I'm sure that I am going to be feeling exactly the same in a few weeks' time. I'm loving the name Matilda by the way ans she and you both look fab in the pics.

Thanks for posting the bag list pula have just gone through mine again and realised a few things were missing.

Fi so glad to hear that there are options for your dog, I'm not a pet person myself but my auntie has had hearing dogs for years and they always become part of our extended family and its v hard to say goodbye when they retire.

Hello petal you have inspired me to write some notes for a birthplan this afternoon as everyone is convinced I'm going to be early. I'm not banking on it but it would be nice as I'm so blimmin uncomfortable.

I have been so tired today - we had the last of our carpets fitted yesterday and so I put together the nursery furniture and unpacked all the baby things into drawers, was really emotional looking at all the little sleepsuits, etc. I just want to meet my lo now!

Am going to post this now, am aware I haven't namechecked everyone but got interrupted by two medical students who I forgot were coming round to interview me about my experiences of pregnancy so I'm off for a second catch up!

chocolatebunnies · 30/04/2009 16:03

just quick message, i've got a new phone today so have a new number, i've put it up on facebook, please take it and swap it over! Would be great to hear from you all!

Oooo getting anxious now . . . .

runningmonkey · 30/04/2009 16:08

Ooh reggiee congrats again and fab middle name. Sorry about the sore nip - cabbage leaves apparently are good for that? Not sure if it has to be a specific type of cabbage tho!

grumpy at the baking, have been too tired to do any cooking today but I think I might have a go tomorrow and make some welshcakes.

Been meaning to say blotted your blog is fab - I am def going to try the jaffa cake sounds yum.

momi lol at your relaxing hypno session! I am picturing you mumsnetting 'with your eyes comfortably closed' (I should also add thats about the only bit of the CD I can remember )

choc you are prob far to busy to be on here but have a fab day tomorrow - can't wait to see pics. I echo what Fi said about making to take a few steps back and make some good memories of the day. At mine last summer, I remember coming back from the loos and just standing in the doorway seeing my new DH talking to my Grandad and thinking how lucky I was to have everyone I love in one room. Also me n DH snuck off for a walk after dinner just around the outside of the building as the sun was setting. We felt we hadn't had a chance to say hello to each other since we got to the reception, was a really nice moment.

runningmonkey · 30/04/2009 16:11

Knew there were some important people I missed...

hope all is going well for divedaisy jael Gert and good luck tomorrow MrsF

Can't remember saying congrats to llare how rude of me. Look forward to hearing all about it.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/04/2009 16:11

Momino I'll swap you a cake for some reflexology from your sister . The Jaffa cake loaf looks and smells divine, but I am being very stern and making everyone wait until after dinner.

DD2 and I have already had a slice of lemon cake each though . She pronounced it 'belishus' and 'goooooorjuss'. She is a tough critic as well and is the first to point out if something is yukky or not as nice as x's.

I'm getting really peed off by the size of my ankles and calves (or is it calfs?), they're just huge all the time and I'm getting incredibly self-concious. Being on my feet in the kitchen rather than feet up on the sofa probably doesn't help though. I just worry that they'll never go down

llareggub · 30/04/2009 16:40

Hello! We're home!

I haven't read much of this thread but thanks for the good wishes and congratulations. George is happy, up all night like his big brother did feeding and is a handsome little chap.

The induction didn't look like it was going anywhere and the original plan was to give it 6 hours and then go for a section, but somewhere along the line the plan changed and they put me on the drip, and boy, that worked!

I managed on just gas and air until right before the end, when I was tired, in pain and really wanting my section after all! They gave me an epidural which didn't really work, and then all of a sudden I felt like I needed a big poo...which made the midwife very excited and all of a sudden I was pushing out a baby. All I could think of at that particular time was us talking about mooing on this thread, and waving our bums in the air!

It did bloody hurt, but it was manageable in all honesty. I did tear, and have stitches, and I can't even feel them now. I didn't feel myself tearing either.

I gave birth at 8am yesterday and by 4ish I was walking around, having a shower and all that stopped me getting up sooner was the effect of the epidural on my legs.

We're just waiting for the inlaws to bring DS1 home and I'm really excited about introducing him to his little brother. I might pop back on later depending on sleeping and feeding because I could do with both, but pate and chocolate are on the cards tonight!

Oh, and I think the midwives must have gone to the Belgianchocolates school of midwifery because they were all fab and very supportive.

pulapula · 30/04/2009 16:48

llareggub- welcome home- you and George have done well to be out quickly. Looking forward to seeing the photos and hearing about how B reacts to his new baby brother.

1stMrsF · 30/04/2009 16:49

Just testing how to post from DH's phone so I can update you when the girls arrive... Feeling a bit anxious about tomorrow but also so fed up of being pregnant that any change will be welcome!

runningmonkey · 30/04/2009 17:07

llare have also said congrats on fb. Well done you and George. Sounds like a positive experience and great to hear you were up and about so soon too. Look forward to seeing pics xx

CoteDAzur · 30/04/2009 17:40

Llare - Congratulations again

Meanwhile, I started washing/ironing little baby clothes which was all very uplifting and even started making my hospital bag, which is very optimistic of me, considering my CS is on 27th and I have no sign of imminent labour, not even a single Braxton Hicks.

Very jealous of those who have already had their little babies

SpangleMaker · 30/04/2009 17:43

llare CONGRATULATIONS and well done! Sounds like you did fantastically well. Glad you & George are back home. Can't wait to see pics, I'm sure he's gorgeous.

Looby great to hear from you. I second what the others are saying - suggest banning visitors for a day & settling in for snoozing & skin to skin cuddles. I really wish I'd done that but was inundated with visitors - who, to be fair, were very helpful and offered lots of help around the house, but I'd have liked at least one day by ourselves. You're doing a fab job with the BFing.

Dandy glad you get a reprieve to sort things out and hopefully get your appeal done. Sounds like your body's gearing up though!

Wonder if Jael has had her c section?

It's my birthday today I actually forgot - I received a parcel from my Auntie yesterda & I thought it was another present for Harvey! We are going to take H to the local pub - thought we would start him early - hopefully if I feed him just before we go I should have enough time to eat a meal & have a nice glass of wine

Llare & Looby Welcome home with your lovely babies! I hope it's all going peacefully for you :D

Spangle Happy birthday!

Running Thank you!

Grumpy Oh you miserly sod, teasing the family like that! How did yours turn out? I might make another one after dinner.

TMI I am normally a once-a-week poo type girl, I know that's terrible but it's honestly just my IBS. This last day or two though I'm going at least twice a day and it's quite loose. I really hope I don't have a tummy bug!

What are we all up to this evening?

emmabemmasmom · 30/04/2009 17:52

Happy Birthday Spangle !!!!!!

Although you forgot I hope you have a lovely evening and manage that glass of wine. You deserve it!

emmabemmasmom · 30/04/2009 17:55

blotted I have been the same in the bathroom department. With this pregnancy I am lucky if I go once a day. Lets just say I am going a lot more too! I think maybe it is your body getting cleared out for birth but I don't know!!! Could be soon???

aquababe · 30/04/2009 18:01

Congrats everyone whose had their babies wow do you guys talk!

I'm steadily beginning to go crazy. I'm trying the pineapple option tonight!
let's see if that does anything for me.

so far sex has done nothing but please hubby.
neither has
gardening,
scrubbing floors,
2 sweeps,
bouncing on the ball
nipple stimulation (though I may have done this wrong)

Heading towards reflexology or acupuncture

Blottedcopybook · 30/04/2009 18:01

Soon would be nice! I don't feel particularly about-to-go-into-labourish but who knows. I'm only 36w today though so another week would make me more comfortable.

Tummum · 30/04/2009 18:03

Wow Llare congratulations !! George is a fab name and you did so so so so well doing an induction, with drip, on (essentially) G&A... WOW!!! So glad that you are up and about so soon too and that that tear / stitches aren't too bad. I found tearing healed much quicker than a cut.

Happy Birthday Spangle LOL at forgetting your birthday... welcome to the world of motherhood !

Blotted the regular 'going' could be pre-labour.... maybe...?!

1stmrsF good luck for tomorrow. V. exciting

Chocbs have a wonderful day tomorrow and I am so glad you are happy with your dress

SInce my sweep I have been feeling uncomfortable in the (TMI alert) fanjo area. Hopefully it has woken it up !! But no fear of actually giving birth for a while frees up my diary tomorrow to hit the shops and spend 'I'm now overdue so want to cheer myself up money"! Yay !

1stMrsF · 30/04/2009 18:37

Llare - congratulations!
Looby - welcome home!
Chocbunnies - have the best day ever!
Petal - welcome!

Thank you for good luck messages from various of you.

I'm going to sign off now and try to relax this evening, have a bath etc and a glass of wine etc. as I had such a horrible night last night and I've got that 'night before an exam' feeling now so I'll try to calm down a bit. Thanks for all the support from all of you and I look forward to letting you know how it all went.

Hope some other babies arrive this weekend too!

llareggub · 30/04/2009 18:39

Thanks again!

dandy the stitches did hurt, but worst of all was that the midwife who approached me, needle in hand, came across as completely incompetent and useless. There was no way on earth I wanted her stitching me down there. So I did the only thing I had left to me under the influence of gas and air, adrenaline and general knackedness, and I burst into tears and had bit of a tantrum about how I couldn't do it.

So, I ended up with a surgeon who stitched me well, and I used gas and air which did take the edge off. They don't hurt now, only during the actual stitching.

I gave birth at 8am, spent the day and evening on the ward and was told at 8am I could go home as George's 24 hour blood monitoring (due to my GD) was fine. It took them all day to get round to the formal discharge papers and doctors rounds, so we were out of there by 4pm.

DS was absolutely amazing when he met George, and immediately asked to see him. He looked overjoyed, and it was really emotional. I have some lovely pictures of him kissing and cuddling his new little brother.

I'm having a rest while DS has his bath. George is asleep and I am tired...sleep for me soon I think!
