Oh Fi what a nightmare. Big hugs.x

FiKelly · 01/05/2009 22:12

thanks for the hugs.. got loads from dh tonight too. heading off to bed soon as the emotional night has worn me out..

llareggub · 01/05/2009 22:13

I'm never going to be able to keep up with this thread now!

We've had a trying day. George has jaundice and has lost 8.7% of his body weight, so we have spent most of the day in bed having lots of skin to skin contact, lots of feeding and obviously rest for me. As a result, he has fed every hour, hour and a half or so, and is looking a little less jaundiced. His poo is also turning a greeny colour which I know is a good sign. We have to get him weighed again on Sunday (day 5) so I am hoping for a weight gain.

He has also had lots of sun baths in our conservatory, and although he has slept a lot today, he is definitely less sleepy than he has been.

Apart from that, (sorry) there is still no movement on the bowel front so I have invested in some Lactulose and I am hoping it will do the trick soon! I am sorry if my tale of stitch woe scared anyone, and honestly it isn't too bad. I do have to sit a bit gingerly but suspect I would have to anyway!

ladyhelen how exciting! Go girl!

blotted I had that weird tummy thing too. I've no idea what it is though.

fi I am sorry you are so upset. Try not to lrt it get to you.

Belgianchocolates · 01/05/2009 22:41

Oh fi Try not to worry to much about it. There's no real harm done, isn't there, just a delay and having to redo it. It's exactly the sort of reason I refuse to take responsibility for measurements, I would do exactly the same thing

bekkaboo don't worry about having had a massive meal. 1) what's the chance of going into labour on the night you've had an enormous meal 2) emergency c/s's are done regardless of how much the woman has eaten. The complications associated with having a full stomach are extremely rare anyway.

llare an 8.7% loss isn't that bad, anything up to 10% they don't worry. Actually were we live babies don't get weighed by the mws at all, they don't get weighed again until the HV comes at 10 days. From what you're saying you're doing really well with the bf, lots of poos and wees are a good sign. Oh and it's a good idea to let him have sunbaths too, that'll help with the jaundice.

Momino · 01/05/2009 23:09

hi all. tummum, did have a sweep today, wasn't too bad. but, at 11pm, nothing happening.

just had a curry, see if that does anything.

now, to bed. hope everyone is sleeping well tonight.

FiKelly · 01/05/2009 23:16

llareggub I know you must be absolutely exhausted after a day like today but a day in bed with skin to skin, cuddles, feeding and resting sounds just lovely..

still awake as you can see.. but v tired. calming down after my big oops. I suppose I got so upset as with being a dress maker i'm usually spot on with measurements.

night night xoxox

Gert2a · 02/05/2009 04:31

Ladies, so sorry to have kept you waiting, but just to let you know that Edith Ann Elaine was born on wednesday 29th April at 10.14am by a very wonderful and calm elcs. Birth weight 7lb 10oz. Came home today after 2 decent nights in hospital.

We are completely besotted of course! Just up at the moment as edith has decided that sleeping on her own in a cot or on a bed during the day is fine, but during the night she'd rather sleep on one of us and wails if put into her cot! Any advice very gratefully received!!

Photos on facebook soon!

llare congratulations on George

Jael congratulations on Jacob

Both fantastic names.

daizydoo · 02/05/2009 07:07

Congrats Gert and Jael - both babies have great names!!

Hope all is going well with divedaisy and Ladyhelen and anyone else who is in labour or beginning labour!

Hope you feel better this am Fi and have got a good nights sleep!

I finished work on Thurs - not a moment too soon - I was shattered by the end of the day!

Grumpy/tummum - all this talk of swollen feet, ankles has reminded me of the cankles I had when I was pg with ds. They rivalled my 95yr old Grandmothers, thankfully this time they aren't too bad

Whoever was worried about having a 2nd child, can I join the club. I'm not so worried about the baby, its ds who I 1/2 expect to whack the baby round the head and go 'blah' as he does to everything else he doesn't like! On that note Llare your photos were beautiful and hope you had a good night with G.

Sorry if I've missed anyone...

Tummum · 02/05/2009 07:47

Congratulations Gert2a hope you and Edith are settling in nicely. No wise wisdom to impact on the sleeping in a cot thing I'm afraid. I would stick with putting her in the cot during the day so that she gets used to it. Have you tried swaddling?

Monimo were a both officially overdue today !! Grrrr.

Weather this weekend looks fab, hope you all have a nice day.x

pulapula · 02/05/2009 08:09

Gert2a- congrats on baby Edith. Look forward to seeing the photos.

I seem to remember my DS being similar (sleeping fine in cot in day but not at night). However, due to sleep deprivation, not sure what worked in the end, but think swaddling had a lot to do with it.

Are you putting her down awake or is she waking up when she realises she is being put down? I am a strong believer in the putting them down awake so they get used to settling themselves, but in those early days i would usually make sure LO had fed well and was very sleepy, often feeding them swaddled so they are not shocked by a change in temperature or environment. I also used a dummy on DS from an early age which might not be everyones cup of tea...

Blottedcopybook · 02/05/2009 08:10

Just got a text from DiveDaisy - Her little daughter was born at 0047am

CoteDAzur · 02/05/2009 08:11

Congratulations Gert2a!

On sleeping issues - It's still very early days. In a couple of weeks, if you still have the same problems, it might be a good idea to gradually impose sleep rules, but for now, just enjoy her closeness and let her sleep on you would be my recommendation

Meanwhile, some babies have more trouble with their digestive systems and/or have reflux issues, so don't like lying down completely flat. Have you tried raising her cot a bit so her head will be above her tummy? (for reflux) Also, wedge her on her side, with knees under her tummy (for tummy problems).

Blottedcopybook · 02/05/2009 08:12

Oh! Gert2a Welcome home and congratulations on your little daughter - what a lovely name!

CoteDAzur · 02/05/2009 08:12

Congratulations Divedaisy!

pulapula · 02/05/2009 08:19

I've updated the list, but not the no.of weeks, as i need to get DD to ballet in 40 mins and noone has had breakfast or got dressed yet!

Blottedcopybook · 02/05/2009 08:22

Pula you beat me to it :p

Divedaisy's little daughter is Sofiah Rose - remember she was worrying about not having the name? I think she got it in the end

FiKelly · 02/05/2009 09:02

yay gert2a congratulations on edith (love the name) glad the cs went well and you manage to get some sleep with edith at night. a few things you could try are.. swaddling nice and tight.. or wear a comforter, toy or muslin in your bra to make it smell of you and place it near her to reassure her you're there.

eventually got to sleep at 11.30pm last night and ds didn't wake up at 6am so got a little lie in till 7am.. dh bless him has worked out what needs changed with the shelves.. so just got to get a quote to get everything changed now. he's off to ikea on his own at the mo to get ds's new wardrobe, chest of drawers and toy box. so glad to not have to go with him as just don't have the energy. ds and I have to do the post office and sainsbury's instead.. not for a big shop just for milk and blotted's jaffa cake stuff

I started writing this over an hour ago.. better hit post before I get interrupted again!

Febes · 02/05/2009 09:02

Welcome to baby Sophia and Edith congrats girls. What lovely news to wake up to.

Febes · 02/05/2009 09:03

Oppps Sofiah x

FiKelly · 02/05/2009 09:10

wow another arrival congratulations divedaisy on sofiah rose. all these babies are making me v excited to meet ours.

detsy · 02/05/2009 09:30

More and more babies every day - hooray, well done girls xx

Fi glad u r feeling better about the shelves - made me smile (sorry) as this is exactly the sort of thing I would do - as someone else said, its simply resolved and far worse things happen at sea Glad Douglas likes his new regime too!

euro emma i'm absolutely with you on worries about no 2 and feel exactly the same and have exactly the same strange thoughts. i'm hoping that as all say, nature will take over

detsy · 02/05/2009 09:35

Flippin Febes how you feeling girls - wonder what our birthing order will be??!! I'm expecting to go over AGAIN, keep thinking things are afoot and then they aren't - patience, patience....

detsy · 02/05/2009 09:38

DD and Dp gone out for a while - hooray, so am slipping back to bed for a catch up nap - see you all later and maybe there will be some more tiny newbies to welcome xx
