Oooh ladyhelen- wonder if they've kept you in or not. exciting stuff.

euromum · 01/05/2009 18:37

Ooh ladyhelen how exciting! Good luck!

blotted I just had a look at your blog - it's lovely and very impressive - you must surely be the definition of domestic goddess! I would love to do all that baking/knitting/craft/etc but have never managed it even pre-dd - only ever got as far as a serious cooking (ie eating) habit. Your bakewell cake stands a very strong chance of being first thing I do with my new oven when I finally get back into my newly-renovated house. Yum yum!

Baby poking me in the front of my crotch (is there a word for that?) and ribs simultaneously. Both hurt. Grumble grumble...

Belgianchocolates · 01/05/2009 18:44

Pula Where I trained el c/s's were at 38 weeks. Your lo will be fine.

Just had some lovely fajitas cooked by dh.

Still having tightenings, haven't timed them or anything, they're not all that often, but feel like they're getting a bit more regular. It'll be for one of these days I'm sure, I don't think I'll go overdue [positive thinking emoticon]

I told DH about blotted' java cake that's getting rave reviews. He wants me to have a go too, but I really can't face baking at the moment. I have to have a normal pelvis before I get baking again.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 01/05/2009 19:31

Just back. They just checked it was water (it was) and now got to wait for ctrx to become regular. They have started and had 3 or 4 between 6.30 and 7 but nothing in the last 20 minutes. EIther way, will be back in tomorrow sometime as they want me back in within 24 hours of waters going. So going to sit on my ball and hope things start pretty soon.

Hope everyone ok. Didn't have time to catch up earlier except to spot Jael's news. Hope she is ok.

sausagenmash · 01/05/2009 19:41

Woooooooo LadyH - go for it, girl!!

Ta Blotted!

What do these tightening things feel like? Whats the sharp knitting needle up the lala feeling I keep getting every now and again?

Tomorrow, for the first time as a grown up, I am going to try and bake a cake. I shall fill you in tomorrow. Either that, or I won't be back, from food poisoning....

Reggiee · 01/05/2009 19:49

Good luck LADYHELEN

Blottedcopybook · 01/05/2009 19:49

Euromum I honestly don't do that much really, I just blog everything I do do!

Belgian Would your DCs be able to do it if you told them exactly what to do? All they'd need to do really is measure the ingredients, once it's all measured it just gets thrown together and mixed up. Honestly, less than ten minutes from weighing to oven Hope your contractions start going somewhere for you

Helen Wahey!! If I were you I'd be away out for a walk somewhere, get the baby moving down and get some fresh air while you can!

Sausage Good luck ;) For me the tightenings always feel like my tummy being pulled like an elastic band with a bit of period pain thrown in for luck. Think the knitting needle pain is just baby hitting a nerve.

Blottedcopybook · 01/05/2009 20:16

A query for you lot - I've never noticed this before, it's totally a new one for me but I think the baby is practicing breathing? She's lying down my left hand side and my tummy is moving rhythmically - are any of the rest of you seeing this?

Momino · 01/05/2009 20:19

ladyhelen, good luck and relax. can't wait to hear your story.

i'm not either. 1st of may is almost over so i'm officially overdue. and depressed. am really sick of people calling and asking, 'did you have it'... well, of course not. really getting me . i'm sure many of you are the same.

having a curry tonight. hope it has some effect. feeling really cynical today about baby ever arriving. i think i'll just have this bump forever [knows that's a silly thing to say].

what are you all doing tonight? hope you're well.

runningmonkey · 01/05/2009 20:20

Hi All,

Go ladyh hope you get some ctx soon. bounce away on that ball girl

Blotted Sorry to hear you have had a nightmare couple of days. Have just told DH about jaffa cake cake, will be making one tomorrow! Lucky I didn't mention the bakewell one as he would want one of those too! Ah, just seen your post too belgian reckon we were having the same conversation at the same time how spooky!

Just uploaded my first and probably only bump pic to my profile and fb if anyone fancies having a look - please also make note of my lush new carpet, am stupidly proud of it [saddo pg lady emoticon]

Hope all are well and having a nice evening.
xx

runningmonkey · 01/05/2009 20:22

blotted I get these too - I wondered if they are hiccups?

Jennster · 01/05/2009 20:26

blotted Could be hiccups. Mine had hiccups this morning and just now in the bath. Dd was 3 at the end of January btw

ladyhelen Yay. I would take paracetamol and try and sleep to be honest. If the contractions don't get going tonight then you could be absolutely knackered in the morning, when suddenly they do. Good luck.

Jael Congratulations to mum and dad.

runningmonkey · 01/05/2009 20:28

momino sorry you are feeling fed up, I think I will feel the same as you in three weeks time if mine hasn't arrived on due date. You still have a few hours of today left tho - how about a brisk walk around the block before or after curry?

I'm going to go watch some crap telly, knit and eat chocolates tonight before getting an early night - we have a carpenter coming to fix a door at 8.30 tomorrow morning so no Sat lie in for me, boo

Momino · 01/05/2009 20:33

runningmonkey, maybe will try that walk? my lovely sister has been doing reflexology on my feet (so relaxing).

i don't mean to be down about it but it's just that I've been having 'signs' for a few weeks now so actually expected baby last week. i need to heed my own advice to expect the unexpected. baby will come eventually so will try to relax.

might join in the crap telly brigade which is always nice.

Tummum · 01/05/2009 20:41

Monimo I share your pain. I'm due today too and fed up. At least MIL hasn't called today - I think she got the drift when she called yesterday. Have you a sweep booked? I haven't until next Thursday when I will be almost one week over . I am trying hard not to be of everyone popping or starting to pop. But it's not working

Sausage you might not feel tightenings with a first pregnancy (lucky so and so !) as sometimes BHs don't happen first time around. But when your stomach muscles are as buggered well used as mine, I have had tightenings since about 21 weeks !! But no sign of LO whatsoever !!!!

sausagenmash · 01/05/2009 21:05

Thanks Tummum - and sorry you are fed up. Hopefully it will all happen soon!

Blotted and Running - I get these too! Its so weird! Its not very hiccupy, I've noticed those as well. Its a lot more 'fluid' rather than jerky. Ooohh tis soo exciting!

Got a call from the pram people to say its being delivered on Wednesday! Yay!

We've just ordered a pizza! Shame that my (small) glass of wine is nearly finished!

Who's due tomorrow?!

Belgianchocolates · 01/05/2009 21:12

blotted That's so funny that you should mention your tummy moving like that. I first noticed when I was being monitored in hospital, because the transducer was moving up and down in this rythmical way, even though I couldn't feel baby moving. I've noticed it quite a few times since. It's not hiccups, because you can feel that. I think it might be practicing breathing too you know. It's weird, because I can see my bump move up and down, but I can't feel anything.

Those tightenings have stopped again . I did just have a small show, so hurray for that.

sausage this is my 3rd pregancy and the 1st time I can feel tightenings/BH before I go into labour. I had 2 quick and easy labours, so you don't have to feel them.

My mum just asked me wheter ds (7!) is going through the first stages of puberty and voice change . OK he is a bit hoarse at the mo, but only because he seems to be coming down with a cold today.

I've washed and changed my sheets today, thinking that I'm more likely to break my waters on nice clean sheets You know, I'm trying the sod's law method of labour inducement, LOL.

Right, I'm going to watch x-men with dh now.

Belgianchocolates · 01/05/2009 21:13

Oh and ladyH have some rest now, your contractions might start in a few hours. With my ds (no1) they didn't start until about 6h after my waters went.

Jennster · 01/05/2009 21:14

sausage baby could be just limbering up for a race down the elastic slippery birth canal? I've just finished a glass of red wine too. (and steak with blue cheese sauce potato wedges and roast veg)

Jennster · 01/05/2009 21:15

Omg I've just watched my tummy do the same thing! Mexican wave type movement.

bekkaboo · 01/05/2009 21:18

Hi does anyone know what happens if say, ive had a mssive meal tonight then go into labour naturaly when meant to be having a c section? I guess they wont perform it on full stomach???

Jennster · 01/05/2009 21:21

Well if they do an emergency CS, they have no choice if it's on full stomachs so it is possible. That is the reason you are now allowed to eat while in labour now.

flippineck · 01/05/2009 21:41

Evening all! You've been too chatty to cath up properly again.

ladyhelen - how exciting!

I'm planning to make the jaffa cakecakecake tomorrow, I'll send DH out for eggs, got tons of oranges to use up so it may be extra orangey.

FiKelly · 01/05/2009 21:51

just logged on with my phone and seen ladyhelen's exciting news.. yahoo!!! rest while you can and look forward to hearing the news of your new arrival

douglas dog likes his new specialist dog food and has started the new tablets.. he has another weight check next week.. so lets hope this works.

I'm not having such a great night as with my duff spatial awareness pregnancy brain I've got the measurements and layout of our new shelves in the store room completely and utterly wrong. have been in tears for most of night with dh saying it's his fault as he should have taken the day off to instruct the guys what to build and I'm not to blame. which just makes me feel worse.. we're going to have to get them to rip it out, buy more wood and start again which makes it a very expensive mistake..
