Gillyan Hope you had a good day. I swear I didn't have a grey hair on my head until I had kids (thats what I tell them eveytime I find a new one anyway!) and now I've loads. I pull them out all the time!! One day I'll be bald!! I hope the baby is behaving tonight!

Well I survived the weekend alone with the kids and we had fun, the weather was great so we just mooched around at home. I am with you all on the ice creams....hunny I didn't know about cream egg ice creams......will be going to tesco tomorrow!

Feel huge now, I saw my mum and she kindly suggested that I am bigger this time than with the others. She has no tact though, after I had ds she came to see us in hospital and bearing in mind it was about 12 hours since I had had him said "My god, you still look pregnant" Duh, did she really give birth to me and my brother!

xxhunnyxx · 14/06/2009 20:24

Glad you've had a good birthday. I was just sayin today I could fancy some black forrest gateux so if you've got some left over feel free to send it my way! lol

I've had a lovely day too today, me n my mum went to Frankie & Benny's for breakfast, I have to say it was the best breakfast I've ever had in all my life! I'd highly recommendd it to everybody. I think I'm gonna take my Dad next week for Father's Day.
And then this afternoon we've just chilled out in the garden catching some rays and payed a little visit to the garden centre, very chilled out and lovely

xxhunnyxx · 14/06/2009 20:38

FYI everybody on Facebook - I haven't gone or goin to the hospital but I've just hinted on my status that I might be, hoping the message will get back to my ex and make him wonder if I've had the baby without telling him! (he's being a TOTAL cock at the mo, ignoring calls and texts).
Yes I know it's naughty and cunning of me but I haven't actually lied, just hinted!

Zorra · 14/06/2009 21:29

My EDD was a bit confused in my notes so I've been on the August thread, but I'm actually due 27th July. Will keep you posted as to which month Tiny arrives in!

Good luck and happy thoughts to all other July-ers x

bozette · 14/06/2009 21:36

Happy birthday Gillyan. I've had grey hairs since the age of about 25 and now at 33 have forgotten what my natural hair colour was as i have to dye it every 6 weeks or else have hideous amounts of grey roots! Glad you're still hanging on.

hunny i am very jealous of your ice cream stores. We just can't do that in our house as it all gets eaten straight away! I have an addiction to white chocolate magnums.

I'm also worried about how DS, now 21 months is going to react to the new arrival. He's so lovely and such amummys boy and i really hope he's not too jealous and doesn't turn into a monster. I will be getting him a couple of 'my first JCBs' as a present as advised. They keep advertising them inbetween programmeson milkshake and he seems rather interested!

soozze · 14/06/2009 23:49

Happy Birthday Gillyan

Hi hobnob I?ll be keeping ds in nursery 2 days per week ? he?s 3 so most of that is free time anyway and I thought he?d miss the time playing with the same age friends. Also I?ll need some sleep when the baby naps!

Lydia sorry to hear about your mum I hope she sees what the boyfriend is really like now.

ilike sounds like a good idea to not be holding the new baby when ds comes in and we have a few present ideas lined up already. I hope your ds?s trial overnight stay goes well so you don?t need to worry on the big day.

Thanks for all the other tips on bringing ds into the hospital, I think it will be better than waiting until we?re home. I?ve been reading him story books that show visiting mummy and the new baby in hospital and I will be in for a day or two so it would be too hard to wait. I?m not sure he?d go for the tshirt though ? he?s not so keen to be a ?big? anything at the moment and has already started behaving more baby like. He did enjoy picking a teddy though and even got one of his own out earlier to put aside for the baby as well.

I?m still worrying about when they leave though ? having to leave but me staying at the hospital with the baby. I think I?ll try and get dp to line up something exciting for them to be going to do. Lol ? he?ll probably be much less bothered than me at them leaving in reality!!

gillyan I had that unusual symptom last time, not so much this time though (much to dp?s disappointment !).

moody our hospital lets the mums children in but not visitors children too ? hope yours is the same.

Thanks Christiana I?ll look into reflexology. I can?t believe you?ll have your little one in only four days !!! Really looking forward to hearing all about it

Patchy the vaseline is a really good idea, I?ll add that to my bag list too.

I had a mother-to-be massage and pedicure today, totally fab ! Still not sorted out names, we get a new short list almost every day

I was really looking forward to the cheesecake in the fridge, but now all I want is icecream mind you I don?t think I could have a stock like that hunny, I?d just eat them all at once!!

Hi & welcome vanimal, mumofshortie, starmucks & zorra

I must try to post more often and keep them shorter

moodylou · 14/06/2009 23:52

Hunny that is very cunning and naughty but he deserves it

Facebook Can i join those of you on facebook? Don't want to be missing out on any baby photos now do i?

If you want to add me then just search for katharine curling (i'm the only one on there!)

xxhunnyxx · 15/06/2009 00:35

moodylou I've just added u on facebook.

I think this nesting instinct is finally kicking in, I've not had a sleep today (v unlike me) and I've been tryin to get to sleep since about 10.30 without success so I've just got myself out of bed to clean!

Morning everyone
Welcome newbies
I have been away so haven't had time to read all posts.

Christiana I can't believe you are going to have your LO this week. So exciting!!

Gillyan happy belated bday and can't believe how cheeky your LO is being about wanting to come out (or not). Not long now and at least you will be considered term in the next few days.

I have had a great long weekend away with DH sans DC's. It was bliss. The hotel was beautiful and right on the coast so there was lots of romantic walks. I even managed to read a whole book.

It now seems a distant memory and we only got back yesterday.

DD turned 2 last week and the tantrums have increased in frequency and DS has had to go back to pull ups at night as we seem to have failed with the night time potty training. I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew with a 3rd due soon.

Insomnia I have been waking anytime from 4am too but being originally from the States I use the time to make some calls back home.

Have a good morning everyone.

Gillyan · 15/06/2009 09:56

Oh my Gooooooooooooooood! These Braxton Hicks are freaking me out!

I spent last night not daring to move in case my waters went. Was having BH at least every 5 mins, many of them excruciatingly painful. I was on my own at home and was considering calling exdp at 2am I was so convinced something was happening. Since getting up and doing the school run I've only had the odd twinge.

I can't stand weeks of this, it is scary!

BonzoDoodah · 15/06/2009 12:28

Gosh hobgoblin - difficult when you're on your own at night with no-one to say it's okay. Hope they are only BH.

All we can post photos in our profiles on here so no need to go to Facebook to do it (unless you want to)... just go to MyMumsnet at the top of the page, log in and then select the Share photos option. It's nice to have a little bit of info in your profile to say where you are and what you are like (if you want to).

mumofshortie I was hoping for a VBAC but this baby looks ike it is going to be big - so unless it arrives early it will probably be another C-S - sob - not what I want - and I've done LOADS of research and spoken to the head of VBACs at the hospital - but have to face reality. Having a scan at 36 weeks (end of june) to estimate baby's size and then look at plan again. How about you?
I read on the June thread - someone actually did have that scar dehescinece - very scary. I know someone has to be that low (one-in -x) statistic - but to read about it brings it home more.

mumofshortie73 · 15/06/2009 14:22

Bonzodoodah i love your name, by the way, makes me think of the doggie from the Singing Kettle !!

I will keep everything crossed for you that your baby is not too big to have naturally, sounds like you want to avoid another c section, as I do too. In my reading up on vbacs, size of the baby theoretically should make no difference to mode of delivery, but I guess hospitals don't like taking any risks
'Vbac Handbook' (Churchill & Savage) 'Blooming Birth' (Atkins & Guderian)

My consultant is keen to see how I get on, as long as baby is well, labour is progressing, cervix is behaving they will leave me to get on with it, providing me with pain relief as and when I feel I need it.

I do feel bigger at this stage compared to last time (stretched tum muscles lol/baby ROA so bump pointier) but again consultant said all was fine. much more low down pressure too so that lil' head is starting to nudge down on cervix, feels pretty different from last time, yay !

Is great feeling supported by the staff, last time I was at a bigger city hospital where they palmed me off for 3 days (try a warm bath & a paracetamol) and I still ended up with an emcs !! Here i am out in the sticks and they genuinely have the luxury of less patients and more time with you which fills me with much more confidence I can do this !

QueenFee · 15/06/2009 14:29

christiana very excited for you and a tad !
I am having a bad time now. I am swollen everywhere not sure if I should go to the dr as it is so bad everyone is commenting on it.
I was woken at 7 this am by the doorbell. A very kind binman returning my keys which I had left in my car door - with my house keys on too I really want these baby here now so I can go back to being myself keep crying over everything. My stroller (that I keep in the boot of my car)has given up the ghost this morning which means I now have to get another. An expense I could do without at the mo. I have also had to abandon potty training DS as although he was doing really well he suddenly decided yesterday he couldn't be bothered. So back to nappies.

My DH said something funny to me the other day (not sure if I told you) he turned round to me and said that he had looked it up on t'internet and it's true that sperm can help prepare for labour - what did he think it was just an excuse or something
Hope things going a bit smoother for everyone now

mickeylou · 15/06/2009 15:15

Hi everyone - its just taken me ages to catch up! i'm like gillyan in the sex department too. almost feel sorry for DH cos i'm so huge! he hasnt complained yet tho!

i'm also waking up at the crack of dawn every day

got very wound up with DH yesterday for doing jobs in the garden - painting back of house etc. i knew i was being an unreasonable so and so when i was having a go at him but at same time really just wanted him to occupy DS for a while as i have the overwhelming urge to do absolutely nothing!! we ended up taking DS to the beach - i was knackered after tackling the sand dunes.

DS is getting a ben10 scooter from the baby. the hospital here lets your own children in during the daytime visiting. i also read you shouldnt be holding the baby when they first come in . i am worried about how he will react to be honest because we are very close and he is a real mummys boy.

glad you had a nice birthday gillyan

MrsCrunch · 15/06/2009 16:11

Hello all,

I have just moved back to Balham (after 2 years abroad) and am 37 weeks pregnant (due 6th July, having a girl). I have done all my antenatal classes abroad and would like to meet new mums/mums to be in the area. I feel I have missed out a bit on the antenatal class bonding with other mums as I knew I was going to be moving and now I feel a bit out of the loop.

LargeGlassofRed · 15/06/2009 16:12

Had a scan today 37 weeks the boys are both 5lb 9 and head down.
Having a sweep on thursday getting very excited now, Dp on nights all week so pray they don't come in the middle of the night.

BonzoDoodah · 15/06/2009 17:18

Welcome MrsCrunch - join the swollen gang.

LargeGlass - head down is a great sign and a really good weight for twins too - good luck!

MumofShortie - I took my nickname from the The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - a bit of an odd-funny lot from the 60's. (I'd have been Bonzo but someone had taken that name!).
Sounds like you are doing all the right stuff for your natural birth. And how relaxing to have staff who have time for you - lovely. As for me - I know baby size shouldn't make a difference but DD had a really large head (39cm) and never engaged. After a long discussion with the head of VBACs and the consultant we think she just couldn't get into my pelvis - at 38 weeks she was transverse and then turning round and round and round. I had to be admitted and was in hospital for 10 days while they worried about cord prolapse. Eventually DD went head down - but still not really engaged. So they let me home. But when my contractions started at 41 weeks she still hadn't decended into my pelvis. I had SIX DAYS of v v painful contractions (latent phase labour as I didn't dilate) and I finally had to admit that my water birth wasn't coming and had a C-Section. Only then did they find she was brow presenting. but the consultant and VBAC lady say there is probably some combination of headsize and my pelvis that meant she was trying and trying for all that time but just couldn't get down. Hence - a scan at 36 weeks to estimate head size and see if the same thing is going to happen. They said if I go into labour early it may well be go for a VBAC but each day overdue - and the headbones calcify and are less likely to squash down and so natural birth is less and less likey. Phew ... Sorry to rabbit on - but yes - I'd love a natural one but am having to come to terms with the fact that fat-headed babies don't come out that way

Phoenix · 15/06/2009 18:03

Belated Happy Birthday Gillyan, hope your little madam is still behaving

Welcome again MrsCrunch (you are already on the list )

Good weights for the twins LGOR, good that they are head down too. Not long for you now

Moodylou - I've added you on Facebook too

Hopefully we'll all have nice easy births the way we want them

I'm officially on maternity leave from today after been on leave for 6wks

Can anyone come up with any good thread titles for when the babies start arriving. Think we should have a new thread for that

hobbgoblin · 15/06/2009 18:36

Quick new thing to check up on with you all...

I have turned into a grumpy old witch. I am actually feeling very happy and very content, if a little impatient, but keep getting these bursts of irrational grumpiness at fairly random moments throughout the day. I was a little abrupt with a checkout person who was telling me DS couldn't have a Nintendo magazine because it was 15 rating. I hadn't realised but had had 3 BH round supermarket and was having another at the till and thinking just GIVE ME THE MAGAZINE I NEED TO GET HOME, I am over 15 JUST SELL IT TO MEEEEE!!!!

Am also being a little dim, leaving things places in a vacant fashion and foregtting to pick up mobile, then wondering if it is lost in a shop somewhere.

Also had repeat of waking up crying which I had in v. early pregnancy, plus bleeding gums.

We definitely need a witty/clever announcement thread title, I agree.

Patchybob · 15/06/2009 20:06

Hello all...we it looks like by the end of the week we will have 3 babies what with LGOR and Christina.......how exciting!

MoodyLou going to add you to facebook nowxx

Am totally full of hayfever so feeling really crappy. Am going to take some piriton as I can't cope any more!!

Had one of ds friends for tea tonight who it turns out is the most obnoxious little toad in the history of little boys....I do hope that my dc never behave so badly when they go to others houses. It is such an eye opener!

Sorry to winge...think I need to go to bed!!

krumbockmummy · 15/06/2009 20:35

Hello to all and the new comers

i must add my name to that list keep forgetting its nice to see that some1 is due the same day 27th july.

Been having braxtons for the last few nights and rib is really sore from baby boy using it as a foot stool.

Got consultant 2omz really not looking forward to that, fingers crossed for natural birth this time. Had emer c section with 1st she was face 1st, bk to bk and 22 hours later got stuck. They also split her head with forceps after pushing her bk up. Still feel guilty after 3 yrs every time i look at her scar think this is y i am wanting VBAC.

Just hoping i am doing the right thing by pushing for natural birth so hard ??
