There's a woman on Jeremy Kyle who claims to have 'Obsessive Compulsive Eating Disorder' I think I might start saying I've got that too. ''I'm not a fat greedy cow, I've got OCED!''.

Beccabump · 11/06/2009 10:50

Phoenix I was told by diabetes nurse at the hospital to snack on meat or cheese products if I was really desperate as it doesn't mess your sugars up too badly Mini sausages and cheddar mmmm!

mickeylou · 11/06/2009 10:50

lol bonzo - well eating your leg would certainly solve the cramp problem!!

mickeylou · 11/06/2009 10:55

There you go phoenix get to asda and stock up on babybells. if its any consolation though the thorntons toffee has made me feel a bit sick.

OCED - i think i have that too! xx

Phoenix · 11/06/2009 11:14

Ah i don't feel so bad for eating all ds' babybels now Or the 3 slices of ham i ate straight from the packet last night

BLOODY HELL!!!!!!! Hello everyone

Just got back from seeing the conultant! The baby is now bloody BREECH!!! I can't believe it! He said the concern is now not that she will be prem but as I am 36 wks today and have had all the steroids etc. he said the worry is if my waters go ( which they did with DD ) that the cord may prolapse. He said ususally they would keep me in but as I am so close to the hospital and I seem sensible I can go home. But he said the minute I have any more tightenings/pain/just a funny feeling I am to go straight in. He said if my waters go to dial 999 and he said it doesn't matter if I have not sorted childcare he said just bring her with me and the midwives would look after her. he's booked e back in to see him next Thursday for another scan to see whats going on.

Can't believe that if she doesn't turn the decision would of been taken out of my hands after all about mode of delivery!

I carried on having tightenings all of yesterday and ended up ringing the mat ward and speaking to a midwife. She agreed that I sounded sensible enough and no need to go in. She just said if I get one pain then go straight up.

I am a bit scared now about my waters going but don't want to be in hospital. I think if the tightenings kick off again ( which they were this morning ) I'll have to go in and maybe stay put.

Just can't believe this is happening!

Patchybob · 11/06/2009 12:36

Gillyan you are having such a nightmare aren't you, its just one thing after another. Try to stay calm, it all sounds so stressful for you, but you do sound quite calm!

Re hunger, I am finding it really hard to eat very much at the moment, after a few mouthfuls I feel like there is no more room to put any more food. Also get a horrid burning sensation in my throat which puts me off!

DH has gone offf to Australia now so feel quite anxious that it may all kick off while he is away! He is in Singapore for 3 days first so its only 14 hours away!? Anyway hoping for lots of presents on his return!

It looks like we are all reaching the end of our pregnancies, wow, it has gone fast.Just counted and its 32 days until my c section! AARGh! Plan to pack my bag and get organised while DH is away. I made him put up the cot before he went so I can sort the baby's room out. Very exciting.

Anyway, hope that you are all ok and that the babies manage to stay put for a little longer! xxx

BonzoDoodah · 11/06/2009 14:01

Eeeeek Gillyan scary stuff. At least the baby is breech and not transvere. My DD was transverse with her feet over my cervix and they wouldn't let me go home (I was in for 10 days before she went head down). They told me that if she was breech or head down - if the waters went the head or bum would block the cervix and prevent a cord prolapse. I don't understand why they are worrying about a breech if that's what they told me. Cord prolapse IS very scary - there was a thread on here about it (thank goodness I only read it after my incident). I'm NOT going to find it for you but maybe you could ask for clarification on the bum thing.

Otherwise you're nearly term so it could be safely any day now. ((((big hug))) and lots of luck and try not to get too stressed about the cord thingie.

bonzo I think baby was traverse yesterday as I explained how my tummy had looked. She is extremely wriggly and the doc said he was worried she would lay across me. She defo was bum down down though so think thats why he let me go. I have read up on cord prolapse - VERY scary. trying not to worry. I think he said the cord has gone under her head from the scan, thats why they are worried. Glad yours turned, maybe mine will too!

christiana Ooooh ow exciting you'll be the firts of us probably! If baby turns before then will you be able to cancel the scetion?

moodylou · 11/06/2009 16:41

I can't believe how many problems you're having Gillyan! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the baby goes head down before your next scan.

Mine's been head down for about 4 weeks now and then the other night he moved and went transverse. I was not impressed. He's started to move back down again though so i'm hoping he's fully head down again by the time i see the midwife next week.

Christiana I can't believe that you'll have your baby this time next week You'll meet your LO before most on the June thread have met theirs!

Looks like this is it ladies - the babies are coming, ready or (in my case) not [sheer panic emoticon]

Phoenix · 11/06/2009 17:27

Gillyan - Scary stuff, bet you don't know if you're coming or going. Hope you're getting plenty of rest

Christiana - Wow, a week to our 1st baby

Well my consultant appointment actually went ok. They aren't going to do a growth scan as they know the baby is big so it's pointless according to them (measuring 43cm today ) So i'll be going in at 38wks where they will do a sweep and see if they can break my waters. If they can they will and see what happens (if no labour then it will be emerg section). If they can't i've got a c section booked for July 10th so i'm quite happy. I wasn't keen on been induced but he explained it all and was very nice. Because of the c-section last time they will not use any prostin it will just all depend on if they can break my waters.

thelollipoplady · 11/06/2009 17:38

Wow it's all kicking off isn't it!!

Hope you're ok Gillyan.

midwifes appointment a couple of days ago and head's engaged already! I tried to do a search on archives to find out if that means early labour (as it's my 3rd) but you just get polarised replies - complete ends of the spectrum from 'head was engaged for 7 weeks...' to people who had the baby the next week. I'm 37 weeks on tuesday, so guess that makes things easier, but it doesn't help with the waddling!!

I had an acupuncture session the same day, so maybe it's all linked...

anyone else got that grapefruit between the legs feeling?!

xxhunnyxx · 11/06/2009 17:38

Gillyan what a nightmare! I can't believe she was partly head engaged and then she's just decided to turn herself round! How naughty!

christiana how exciting! Looks like u'll prob be our first Mum! Gosh it's all getting a bit scary that these babies are starting to make appearances!

Just been to a guided birth class and there were quite a few women who are due end of July - August and they're bumps are bigger than mine! I think my bump is just about right, so I wonder why ppl (mainly neighbours) insist on telling me I look like I'm about to pop and get comments like ''well u can't get any bigger'' or ''are u sure there aren't 2 in there?''. I've obviously not abnormally big when women who are due a month later than me or bigger than me!

And my Dad is starting to irritate me cos every single time I speak to him or see him he says ''you're still pregnant then?'' he's been saying it for about 2 months now and it's just not remotely funny anymore!
. Sorry I think I'm just gettin tired and irritable today!

Packed mine and baby's bags today so at least I'm one step closer to being ready. Just need to feather my nest now!

Christina OMG, next week! Hoorah thats fantastic, so exciting. You can be the c section guinea pig and let the rest of us c sectioners know what to take, do etc! (Thats if you don't mind!!)

I hope the rest of you are ok. I have terrible back ache tonight, think I was on my feet too much today. I was at school teaching this morning and the Head teacher is def getting twitchy about me going in to labour! She found me sitting on the floor with a group of children and had a panic, insisting I had a chair and then moved us all into the library so I could have a more comfortable chair. It was so funny as I was actually quite happy on the floor!!

Have a good evening everyonexxxx

LargeGlassofRed · 11/06/2009 20:35

Hi all, quick update bump has dropped loads so easier to breath but harder to walk, did a belly cast the other day pics on profile, was quite fun dd2 really wants to take it to school
Had a really positive meeting with the head of midwifery about my birthplan. She was lovely and very supportive, have compromised on a few things but on the whole she was very supportive of natural birth.
She also rang one of the consultants and got them to agree to give me a sweep at 38 weeks, if I go that long.
I have a scan and consultant appointment on Monday and just praying all goes well.
I have a 50 inch waist now

rubyriley · 11/06/2009 21:11

OMG Gillyan Hope you're ok and just taking each moment, hour, day at a time. My baby's head been down though free, back to the left, feet to the right, for many weeks now and never dreamt that it could turn!! Did you feel it turn? Is that what started off your contractions do you think?

We all have ideals re our birth plans but most important of all is the safety of us and our LOs. I want everyone on the July thread to have happy outcomes regardless of method of delivery.

Am feeling VERY excited at the thought of us popping one at a time. Also confess to a little that might get left behind (as I'm a natural 40wks + 10 gal) and would LOVE to deliver naturally any time after 37 weeks but suspect not gonna happen!!!

hunny If I had a £ for every time someone has said "you're huge" or "are you sure there isn't 2 in there" so rest assured you are not alone. Have also had comments like "it really is just your bump" or "it's all up front nowhere else" Said to midwife today that folk like to comment (and why?) She said that those carrying back to back will naturally have smaller bumps than those whose backs are sticking out the front. Think it's a common complaint by PG mums as midwife seemed familiar with the topic!!

LargeGlassOfRed Don't want to measure my bump but can tell when catch a glimpse in mirror en route to shower that I am officially a weeble And it's gonna be oh so saggy when baby comes out But on the plus side, we can lie on our tummies, hoorah!!!

christiana Can't wait to hear your news!! Good luck!

bozette · 11/06/2009 21:12

Wow! Things are hotting up around here!!

Christiana next week, how exciting! Gillyan hope you're getting plenty of rest and being completely spoiled.

Just want to reassure those booked for c-sections that they are fine! I had one for breech DS. It was very relaxed and calm, no stress and a lovely experience. I stayed in for exactly 48hrs and went home as soon as i was allowed.
The midwives were very helpful with breastfeeding and made sure i was happy before i left.
The most important thing to do is to make sure that you take regular analgesia rather than waiting for pain. I took voltarol and co-dydramol regularly and continued once i was home for a few days. I also got mobile as quickly as possible and within 3 weeks was walking 2 miles and driving again. I was lucky in that i'd managed to stay reasonably fit throughout my pregnancy, which helped i'm sure.
I also reccomend big cheap granny pants from tescos or asda to go over the scar!

Clicking i heard that loads with DS, but have only once or twice this time. I've no idea what it is!!

hobnob57 · 11/06/2009 21:59

Hey, good luck Christiana! I have a colleague at work who was thrown off the sofa by her LO turning at the last minute, but a friend whose DS was breech because he had the cord around his neck and she was so glad she hadn't waited for labour. Whatever the outcome, you'll get a gorgeous wee baba soon and it'll all be fairly irrelevant. I had an emergency cs and found recovery a bit difficult, especially with residual SPD, but DD is so worth it all! I got staples in my scar so no nasty micropore to peel off!

Gillyan so sorry you're having a hard time - fingers crossed once LO is out they'll be angelic for you!

LGOR and the other twin mums, I've no idea how you're still standing at this stage! Big fingers crossed for you over the next few weeks!

Really wishing I was having a July baby still - November is so inconvenient work-wise and because all our birthdays are in Nov/Dec, but beggars can't be choosers, eh? Just relish that when you're BF in the middle of the night it's not pitch black and Baltic!

FIngers crossed as ever for you all xxx

hobnob57 · 11/06/2009 22:07

PS wonder how mavornia is doing?

Also still dithering about childcare during/after ML. Did you keep yours at CM/nursery or have them home with you to save money? Was it ok or would you rather just sleep? Do the DC need some 'normal' time out with the new baby in the house or do they need to spend as much time as possible with them, adjusting?

soozze · 11/06/2009 22:13

wow gillyan, you're certainly being kept on your toes! you're so lucky to live that close to the hospital. Like ruby my baby's been head down feet to the right for ages now, I figured there was no more room to turn.

Today felt like first day of mat leave and I just slept most of it I've been off all week but had ds and still lots to do around the house etc..

becca sorry you're having such a hard time with the consultant. It is hard not feeling like your on a conveyor belt to induction sometimes. I had my appt yesterday and they really pushed for induction (not at 38 just if I hit 40 weeks). The room was really hot and I ended up bursting into tears, not my finest moment. He was really nice about it though. I guess will try all the curry/pineapple/sex stuff over the next few weeks and hope I don't get to 40 weeks.

ruby I didn't mean an outfit for me more for the little one. I'm overthinking it with all the cute babygrows out there. For me it'll be joggers or other maternity wear too

phoenix yep my hairs are growing back way too quickly, they're usually slow too so it's annoying. I'm glad you had a good appt. Does that mean if they can't break your waters they will send you home until the 10th?

krumbockmummy I've been trying to get my baby to kick/nudge dp when he's asleep as thought it'd be funny. She hasn't obliged yet though, I imagine I'll get a similar reaction

lol mij at the peas and torch method.

How are those of you with dc's going to introduce them to the baby? Is it best to do in hospital or wait until you get home?

ilikeyoursleeves · 11/06/2009 22:23

Wow there's been loads going on here! My laptop died last week so ended up buying a new one so I'm just really getting back online and checking how the July babies are behaving. Best of luck to everyone especially Christina Gillyan & hobgoblin, I wonder who will actually have the first baby? It's very exciting!!!

Well not much exciting from me, I've only got a week left of work and I'm soooooo looking forward to having some chill out time after that. DS will be in nursery 2 days a week until early July then down to 2 mornings so at least I'll get proper rest then although I will prob go into nesting mode. I am going to start packing my bag this weekend too, it all doesn't seem that real yet though!

I'm starving loads too, yesterday I went out for lunch and had a whole pizza, then had loads of cookies in the afternoon OOPS!

Hope everyone is doing OK
