sooze I think my DS (21 months at that time) will come to the hospital with DH to meet baby. I have read that it's best for you not to be holding or feeding the baby when your DC comes to see you, but to give DC loads of cuddles and attention then introduce them to baby. Baby will have a fabby pressie for DC too of course!

moodylou · 11/06/2009 23:15

My ds will be getting a pressie from the baby too but not sure if that will happen in the hospital though as was told at antenatal class that children aren't allowed to visit due to new hospital policy

I'm hoping that they won't be that strict once i'm there though and they'll let ds in for a bit.

Morning, I'm so tired today. Ds has been getting up around 5.30 all week and not going back to sleep in our bed. I went to bed early last night and he was up crying for a few hours with leg ache so it was still after 11 when i got to sleep and 4.50am this morning 'muuuuummy, i'm awake. I want to come in your bed' . Luckily he went back to sleep til 7 but i'm still tired.

At my hospital you can take your own children in but they don't like other visitors children in. We've got ds a Leapster hand held game thing and some games from the baby.

The more i think about my birth options the more i don't know what to do. I just keep thinking if they do break my waters and i don't go into labour then i'll end up with an emerg c-section. Or if they break my waters and i do go into labour and the baby is back to back, like ds was, or if my previous scar ruptures, or if i have a horrific tear because of the size of the baby....Oh i don't know. I'm back at the hospital next week anyway so i guess i could go armed with some questions Of course if they can't break my waters it doesn't matter anyway because my c-section is booked already and i can still change my mind about induction too. Aaaarrrggghhh

Morning Ladies
well I'm shattered today - woke about 20 times in the night to either turn over (major undertaking - shift bump, supporting pillow, bedclothes, ... wriggle round to get comfortable etc etc), go to the loo (again?) or leap out of bed with raging leg-cramps. Then to top it all I woke up at 6:30 and just couldn't get back to sleep. How unfair is it?? Bump aches today and I'm sure this one is lying sideways.
Sorry for the moan ... just shattered and aching. Sigh.

Morning all! What alovely sunny day!

re- Breech - baby was head down, had been for weeks. They scanned me last week when I went in and she wa shead won then too, and all through my notes she has be described as 3/5 engaged so can't believe she's turned now! As soon as the MW said she thought she may be breech it made sense as the nightbefore I had een saying to DP she felt different. I didn't notice her turn but she is SO active and really never keeps still.

I have definately got an irritable uterus so yes anythig like her turning would start contractions off, even when she moves it does.

christiana I'm feelin okay, you? How many weeks will you be when you have your section? Doc told me to go backnext wk ( 18th ) and they'll re-scan me and if she's still brecch they can do the external turning thing but he said as I am booked for a section anyway there's no point, so I wonder if he'll do the section next week?

Im 36+1 I'll be 37 next thirsday. That'll be a bit too sound won't it. Just dying to getthis pregnancy over with now as sick of all the uncertainty!

They are scanning me again because of the risk of the cord prolapse.

scully · 12/06/2009 13:01

My baby is also head down feet to the right and has been for a while now Lots of movement still but position doesn't seem to change much.
I had a c/s with dd1 because she was breach, my recovery was fine and although my preference is for a vbac again with dc3, it wouldn't be the end of the world if it was another c/s. Main issues I have with c/s are not being able to lift dd2 or the washing, for example, which although people say just don't do, in reality it isn't always possible to ignore Also you aren't supposed to drive for 6wks after any major surgery, it's an insurance issue. I don't know about the UK but here you can get a letter from your doctor to confirm you have recovered ok and some insurance companies will accept that.
Good luck for next week Christiana, how exciting, probably our first baby
Your having such a stressful time Gillyan, sounds like you're coping well with it all though. How is dd, understanding much of what is happening?
Did your consultant say they would induce you Phoenix, or just break your water? I've been told that if I go 2 days or more overdue they will induce me, but because of c/s they will not use drugs, but a balloon/catheter which is inflated in the cervix.
Sozze, when dd2 was born, dd1 came up to the hospital twice to see her before we came home. She had a 'big sister' t-shirt on and was very excited (she was 3.5yrs). This time dd1 will be 7 and dd2 3.5yrs and both will have big sister t-shirts to wear as a surprise and I think dh will have trouble keeping them away from the hospital If you're there for a couple of days and your dc are old enough I think it is nice for them to visit in hospital and see where mummy is etc. Kids are usually really interested in the doctor/nurse side of things, and any gadgets in the room
Wow Patchy, how long is dh in Australia for? Hope your baby behaves whilst he is gone I'm loving the cooler weather we're having down here now, around 7deg at 6.30am when I get up and highs of around 20deg during the day and sunny. So much nicer than the months of humidity I endured in 1st/2nd trimester
Have a nice weekend everyone

vanimal · 12/06/2009 13:22

Hi,

Can I join in? I am 36 weeks pregnant with baby number 2, due on 9th July. I don't know what I am having.

I have a nearly 2yr old daughter, born my C-section, although I am planning on birth via the regular route this time!

Am happy to share my experiences, or just whinge about being so enormous now

Patchybob · 12/06/2009 13:26

Hi everyone,
Scully he's in Australia for 2 days, spending most of the time away in Singapore. A very fleeting visit but not the best time to be away!! I'm only 35 weeks so am pretty sure this one wont come while he is away! It is hard coping with the 2 older ones 24/7 though, but they are old enough now to be quite self sufficient. Hooray!

Re other dc coming to the hospital. My ds was 21 months when dd was born and he didn't really have much of a clue to be honest bless him! On the way to the hospital DH stopped to let him choose a teddy to buy her and he still talks about it! He had a broken foot at the time and I could hear him walking down the corridor, clippity clop all the way! Looked out and there he was carrying this enormous teddy! So cute! We had a present from the baby to him. They didn't stay long, but I am gladdh bought him.

This time round they are so aware and are expecting to be collected from school with the news of what it is and bought straight to the hospital!

Backache not so bad today but didn't sleep much last night. Going to have a little sleep before I collect them from school.

Haven't packed my bag yet, keep putting it off for some reason! Will do it next week. One thing I took for both my dc and will do again is some vaseline to smear all over their bottoms for before they do that nasty black first poo! Makes it 10 times easier to get off!!

BonzoDoodah · 12/06/2009 14:24

Hi vanimal - welcome! My DD will be 2 in early August and I'm due 25th July ... first by CS but hoping to have a VBAC this time (but not looking likely) so looking quite similar. Hope all goes well. Where are you based? I'm in South Manchester.

Gillyan · 12/06/2009 15:39

Hiya vanimal and welcome. My due date is 9th too although I am booked for a c/s on the 2nd! Won't be long now!

scully hello - DD is okay, she got very upset at leaving me in hospital and wanted me to come home. She knows I was in becuase baby sister was trying to get out too early. She kept talking to bump and saying 'stop being naughty baby sister'

I've started to get really upset about Dd though as I never see her. She's still in nursery Mon, Wed and Fri and we're keeping hwe doing that till I recover from c/s then dropping her to the 2nhalf hrs a day for pre-school. The Tues and Thursday I'm having to get people to have her all day as I am not sleeping. I really miss her and I'm convinced she's going to start hating me, then the baby will be here and I just feel really bad on her. people keep telling me she won't rememebr any of it in years to come.

She's started saying she doesn't want to go to nursery and wants to stay at home with me, I thik it's just cos I was in hospital.

lydiathetattooedlady · 12/06/2009 17:31

hi everyone, i broke the computer after my last message whoops i got a telling off! finally fixed agaimn. ive tried to have the usual scan through to get up to speed!

i just wanted to ask you ladies for advise too, ive been having these symptoms for past two days and dont know if i need to speak to midwife or not, its just i never had them with dd and want to make sure everythings ok

Beccabump · 12/06/2009 17:41

I'm with you on those symptoms lydia !

  • lots of strong braxtons mainly in the evening but really taking my breath away and having to breathe through some of them!
  • period pain low down in between the braxtons (having them now actually!)
  • really heavy feeling down below
  • generally thinking 'this could be it' about 10 times a day!

and I'm only 35 weeks so trying to hang on a bit longer, seeing my mw on Tuesday so will get her opinion!!!!

lastboxoftampons · 12/06/2009 18:01

Hi Everyone!

It's been ages since I popped in here, but since we're all getting so close () I thought I'd say hi and wish those of you who are imminent lots of luck!!!!

I'm 34 weeks today and this little guy is not in position at all! Anyone else????

mumofshortie73 · 12/06/2009 18:02

Hi there,

is there any room for another one on this massive thread ?!

I have been lurking since the start of it but not got off my backside and actually posted !

My second baby is due to make an appearance around the 27th July, no idea if a girl or boy. My daughter is three and a half, slowly coming round to being a big sis

Have really enjoyed reading all your posts and look forward to joining in the banter for the last leg !

lydiathetattooedlady · 12/06/2009 18:03

glad im not the only one becca saw my midwife on tues who said with everythings thats happened with my mum/brother/partners redundancy/business closing...the stress could bring on labour early so im panicking a bit and trying to relax but finding it so hard! also nervous that at 34+6 on tues i was measuring just over 39 weeks eek!

xxhunnyxx · 12/06/2009 18:05

lydia so sorry to hear about your mum, I know what it's like, my mum has tried/threatened it quite a few times and it's awful. {{{{big hugs}}}} x

I'm also gettin funny symptoms, pubis is very sore, fanjo feels tender too like I was up all night having sex (which I defo haven't!), and I've got a heavy, achey, sore feeling like I'm on my period, but not actually getting cramps or BH.

My cousin's baby was born last night (11 days over due) and I'm so jealous, I'm gonna concentrate on doin some nesting n then I'm gonna work on gettin this baby out of me!

QueenFee · 12/06/2009 19:10

Hi all
Off to my moms this weekend and I could really do with the time out to think about options. I feel so confused. Had very long appointment with Consultant yeaterday ended up in tears she was really trying to push her opinion on me so we ended up with stalemate. Am going back to see her at 38 weeks. (am 36+3 now)
I am having all the same symptons and have also started an intense program of evening primrose oil, sex, walking etc to try and get things ready.
hi newbies siblings last time DD came to see me in hospital with a present for DS and DS had 'brought' a present for DD. Seemed to work ok for us
I am really fed up today finding even the most normal thing almost impossible and in the middle of potty training DS and this is causing me problems having to keep going up and down stairs I can feel the SPD returning
