welcome mumofshortie

lydia So sorry about your Mum that's really hard to deal with, she must feel terrible to do that. Hope she gets through it ok. Re- your symtoms, I've had all of them but then they lead onto regular contractions hence trips to hospital! maybe it's more noticable second time round.

I have an unusual symptom for late pregnancy..I am so horny! I don't know whats up with me!

Well had only a few BHs today and nothing regular so I'm sure thatthe fact baby is now breech is having an effect. I bet I do end up making it to 2nd July now, only 20 days to go! I feel lighter too, baby had dropped a few weeks nack so the heartburn and breathlesness ahd gone anyway but since she's gone breech I feel so much better. her head had been really low and it was painful to walk, Things are perfect now! Breech = deccision definately taken out of my hands re c/s too as not recommended to try and deliver a breech baby with the bad tear I had. maybe it will all go smoothly now and she'll stay put!

It's my birthday on Sunday and I can't plan to do anything as not allowed to leave the house or go anywhere etc. I'm not actually bothered though, I'll be 27 years young!

have a lovely weekend everyone xx

starmucks · 12/06/2009 20:17

Hello, can I join too? I am due 20th July, dc2, and no idea if it's a boy or a girl. Have balloned this time round and feeling very sorry for myself.

Welcome vanimal and mumofshortie

Re pains lydia It seems that some of us are getting some pains etc, but I would get them checked out on monday if you are still struggling. Sorry to hear about your mum. What a lot of added stress for you xxx

Hunny lol at up all night having sex!!!! In my husbands dreams!!

I have just ordered my 2 dc "I'm the big brother" and "I'm the big sister" t shirts. Got them on ebay in the end as it came up in a google search. They are so cute. Plain pink for her and blue for him wiith a white disk in the middle with the writing in it. They are only 4.99 so quite happy with that! Will give them to them the day before I go in I think. DS will probably think he is far too cool to wear it but dd will love it!!! Couldn't get her one and not him though!

Anyway, going to try to get an early night, starting to dread going to bed as I never know what sort of night it will be....nut I know you are all in the same boat. Hope its good for all of us!

Gillyan · 12/06/2009 20:26

Good idea to put the booked sections patchy you are so thoughful!

mumofshortie73 · 12/06/2009 20:57

Thanks for the nice welcomes, i can feel less of a fraud now for lurking and join in with the chat! Thanks Phoenix for adding me to the list as well.

Queenfee ta v much for the tip about getting a present from the baby to big sis, she will love that. She has already chosen one for the baby which was easily done.

Two more weeks at nursery then we can enjoy 4 weeks filled with toddler pursuits, if my energy levels do not wane

Bump def dropped now- i can breathe ! Now the 'fun' low down pressure is an interesting addition

ilikeyoursleeves · 12/06/2009 21:40

Hi all and welcome to the new ladies!

I went for a big walk today and have been having quite a few twinges but I think it's baby pressing down on my cervix? I'm feeling a bit worried (ish) about having to leave DS when I go into hospital to have this baby. The plan is for DS to stay overnight at his aunties (DH's sister) seeing as we might be in hospital overnight having baby like last time. DS has never ever stayed away from us and although he has had babysitters he has always been put to bed by one of us and woken up in his own room at home. But this time he'd be put to bed by SIL and wake up there without us and I am feeling sorry for him in case he wakes up all scared! He knows SIL fairly well (sees most weeks) and loves his big cousin so I don't know if these are just my own worries?

Anyhoo I have my work night out for me leaving on the 26th June and DH is also out that night so when we asked for a babysitter SIL offered to do a 'trial run' for DS to stay over at hers. I know it's prob a good idea but I'm not looking forward to it for some reason! I just worry how DS would be if he cries or something or wakes in the morn and mummy or daddy arent there! Any advice from anyone? Or am I being a silly hormonal mummy?

Cheekycel · 13/06/2009 00:24

Hi all and welcome to all the newbies!

lydia I'm so sorry to hear bout ur mom and sorry that ur having such a hard time as well.

gillyan have a fabulous birthday, whatever u decide to do x

Just catching up on everyones posts as I've been out of the loop since wed. One minute I was raving that I was finishing work today, and the next I was freezing, had headache, tingling fingertips. By bout 7 that eve I had raging fever which broke for the first time yesterday. Literally spent the last 2 days sleeping, which hips are now complaining about. Should have prob contacted GP but didn't want to make a fuss in case it turned out to be nothing major. Still have the odd headache now though.

Baby moving loads and uncomfortable most of the time. Have very low down pelvic pain, numb feeling in right bum cheek(?)

To crown it all I missed my own farewell at work today

hobbgoblin · 13/06/2009 07:49

Sorry to hear it's going a bit pear shaped Gillyan, but good that baby is staying in for now!

I have made it down to Hampshire for my nice weekend away and have a Christening to attend today which I'm really looking forward to.

Braxton Hicks are a lessening in intensity but still fairly frequent.

My weirdest pregnancy 'thing' right now is waking really, really early in the morning. My bladder has been very well behaved this pregnancy so it's not needing to go to the loo, it's a weird wakefulness.

Normally if I wake up early I do not actually get up until the latest possible moment under any circumstances but today for example I've been awake since 4.45 in huge and lovely hotel bed with no DC to attend to and I am BORED and want to GET UP!

Anyone else like this? Is it maybe part of the nesting thing? I did scrub floors on hands and knees yesterday. I haven't done that in years!

hobgoblin I've been waking up at about 4am every morning and unable to get back to sleep, I've been putting it down to my body saying ''right baby is due a feed, get up!''. I don't think my body quite realises that baby hasn't been born yet!

mumofshortie73 · 13/06/2009 11:25

I am with you all on the early morning waking though mostly it's in anticipation of DD1 getting up, usually around 5.30/6

It was an unheard of 8.30 this morning though, hurrah !

Fighting the urge to 'nest' as am getting weary now, essentials like the nursery painted, got moses basket, looked out a few sleepsuits/vests and got a few things together for hospital bag all done.

Now all I need to do is kick DH up the bahookie so the kitchen gets plastered & painted

Mij · 13/06/2009 14:46

Hello everyone, what a dramatic turn this thread has taken recently! Thinking of all of you with positioning/crap consultant/early baby worries.

Return of good weather = great for DD's birthday picnic tomorrow but crap for enormous ankles.

Did NCT sale this morning and got a decent moses basket (didn't have one for DD as was lent one which she then refused to sleep in anyway). If we don't use it it can just go straight back into the next sale .

This babe is still moving around a lot. Sure it's still head down but def not engaged cos hiccups moving around!

Sleeping - terrible at the moment, waking up throughout the night even when DD isn't too restless. Had a rubbish evening last night as she woke 3 times before we went to bed, couldn't tell us why, wouldn't let me take her temperature, just grizzling and wanting to be cuddled, poor wee thing. Spent the night in her bed so DP could sleep undisturbed and I'd feel less bad about getting him up early today!

Hello to the newbies, Christiana I'm a little bit envious that you know that by Friday you'll have your baby in your arms. I hope it all goes well.

Only 2 weeks to go for me and only 3 more days at work (yippee!) spent a large part of last week wondering why I was still there and how I was going to get everything done in time.

Bump just feels huge and baby is uncomfortably active. I'm knackered and not feeling great either.

Whinge Whinge

vanimal · 13/06/2009 21:18

Hiya BonzyDoodah,

We do have quite similar situations! How are you finding being pg with a toddler running around? I am still working fulltime (so DD is in nursery fulltime), but weekends and evenings with her are such hard work being so big.

I reckon I'll end up having a CS again (no idea why, just a feeling), so not sure how I will cope with DD wanting carrying, putting in the bath etc. DH has been great though, so will just have to do these things for me as much as possible.

Looking forward to seeing both DCs together though - have asked DH to video their first meeting

I am based in Birmingham, not that close sadly. Am looking out for mums to hang out with on mat leave though, as I found it pretty boring challenging last time.

How are you finding things?

vanimal · 13/06/2009 21:19

oops - BonzoDoodah

BonzoDoodah · 14/06/2009 08:20

Eeek Lydia that sounds like early labour to me. No wonder with all those horrible things going on. I hope your Mum is okay and gives the boyfriend the boot (if not get the police involved - I?m sure what?s he?s done can?t be legal.

Welcome mumofshortie and starmucks good to have you on here.

Ilikeyoursleeves - snap! We were worrying about DD and her first night away - we went out last night to see Bill Bailey (FAB!) so she slept at Mum and Dad?s house - her first sleep-over. And a good chance to get a like-in for us!! Is that why I was WIDE awake at 6:45??? Grrrrrrrr. How did your DD do on Friday night?

vanimal - I?m working full time too - will do until 38 weeks. It?s exhausting. We?re keeping DD in nursery full-time until after the birth so she?s not disturbed too much and to avoid hassle when or if I go into labour. But I?m sooooo tired. Last time we could just sleep when we wanted couldn?t we. This time every minute until bed-time is taken up with making the most of DD. We went to a birthday party yesterday and they had a huge climbing frame/treehouse thingie. So of course DD wanted to spend the entire day up the ladder dancing around at the top (and me dancing attendance at the bottom). I was shattered by the end of it.
I?m worried about the CS with DD too. So restricting. Have you gone to Antenatal classes this time? I have just so I can meet local mums with babies the same age. I found it very isolating last time. I found the NCT coffee mornings and met mums from the A/N classes so that really helped.

mumofshortie73 · 14/06/2009 10:01

Morning folks

I'm enjoying a bit of quiet while DH takes DD along to DG's- bliss !

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday at a BBQ- new ante natal class pals, is so nice to have met some new people locally who are expecting babies too- mummy friends I met last time at classes are still fab but is a faff to always be heading up to the city to see them.

Typical bloody Scottish weather though, it pissed it down torrentially, was DD bothered though ?! She had a ball running up and down the garden providing the entertainment for everyone

Feeling confident about trying for a vbac this time round, baby in solid head-down, back to my tummy position, def dropped in last few days, consultant obs. fully supportive. Lol I did grill him a bit about hospital policy re timings/monitoring ... ! I know what you ladies mean about coping with a toddler after a c section, would be really hard going but as long as we keep popping those pain relief pills and ask for help with everyday stuff, we should be okay, if it comes down to a repeat c section.

Vanimal and Bonzodoodah plus others- Sorry but don't remember if you have chosen elective c sections or are potential vbac'ers like me !

Christina you rock, girl ! so excited that you will be meeting your wee one so soon, that is brilliant !

mumofshortie73 · 14/06/2009 10:07

Yes and I am another example of 'God, I am truly starving, what can I eat NOW ?'

Massive meals (despite tummy squished up to my left armpit) interspersed with substantial snackage, is getting ridiculous.

Heartburn seems a constant though weirdly is worse when I haven't eaten anything- what's that all about then ?

Also feeling knackered and heading to bed before 10 most nights.

Nurturing & nesting methinks...

Gillyan · 14/06/2009 10:32

Morning everyone!

I have just found a grey hair!!!!! It is my 27th Birthday!! I am mortified! It was pure white! I just hope it's a one off!

I ended up in hospital AGAIN last night! I was having rrally strong, painlful and regular contractions. The doc came in as I was having one and put her hand on my stomach and shesaid straight away that she thought I was in labour.

Sh escanned me and baby was still breech and in a very akward position. She was talking me through the section as she examined me only to find yet again my cervix was totally closed!! She couldn't believe it.

Only explanation is that my body was trying to turn baby with very strong contractions. They gave me some co-codamo=al and let me go after I begged them, after a few hours of monitoring.

This baby is so naughty!

Having a nice birthday so far, all my friends are at the Download Festival though so it's a quiet one.

Had the new Green Day album of DD and a huge bottle of the new Gucci perfume of DP. Had money and vouchers too so doing well so far!

Hope you are all doing okay, not long now!!!

moodylou · 14/06/2009 11:39

Happy birthday Gillyan

I found my first grey hair at 26 and i've got 4 or 5 now that i'm 30 but i just get dh to pull them out so that i can forget about them until they grow back

Can't believe your LO is still giving you a hard time. Hopefully the baby will be really good for you once it's been born

My appetite has really picked up since i hit 36 weeks which i'm putting down to the baby having a final growth spurt rather than me just being greedy. DH doesn't always seem to believe me when i say that the baby wants a magnum though!

xxhunnyxx · 14/06/2009 14:02

Gillyan happy birthday! I'm only 26 and I've got loads of grey hairs, started getting them when I was about 19! I'm quite lucky tho cos I don't get them round my parting so nobody can see them and Nice and Easy tends to work a treat!

I can't believe how naughty your LO is, does she not know it's her mummy's birthday? I'm sure she'll be worth all the hassle when she finally turns up tho .

moodylou I'm defo with you with the hunger and the magnums. I was just saying to my mum I could open my freezer up as an ice cream van, I've got such a good selection; magnums, lion ice cream bars, soleros, Fab lollies, milk lollies, strawberry splits, cream egg ice cream and cookie & cream ice cream. I think i could fancy adding some calypos or fruit pastill lollies to my collection too!

Gillyan · 14/06/2009 19:39

Glad I'm not the only one with grey hairs under 30!

I'm with you guys on the ice-cream/lollies. I cannot stop eating calypos and snickers ice cream!

had a nice Black Forrest Gateux cake for my birthday.

had such a lovely day, had a few visitors and we've sat out all day.

Only had a few BHs today thank god! 17 days to go......Woooo!
