morning

kooky great news

for xmas getting dd1 - leapfrog pink leapster and tag reading system
for dd2 - crazy cooks and elc 1st kitchen

lardybump · 24/04/2009 08:58

I knew it was too good to be true.... I have been up every hour on the hour since 1 feeding DS. I gave up at 5 and got up......

Going to toddler group now and then getting car MOT'd so wont be on until later

Hope you all have a great day...

glaskham · 24/04/2009 09:13

LB- sorry your DS was up loads last night... on the positive note it all turns around very fast at the early stage- i was up every 30mins during the night for 2 nights in a row with DD2, then last night was only up twice, and she'd not even had her bottle of formula last night!! Not sure if i have the guts to stop it alltogether and not give her another bottle... if she's not gained much weight by next weds then it'd be on my shoulders... but if she did still then i'd be over the moon that it was all my doing!!

NatalieJane · 24/04/2009 09:32

OK am over Ses' little outing now!

Diege, Bernhard Manning and sex just doesn't compute, a bit like a certain Mr. Cowel

glaskham · 24/04/2009 09:35

Oh the links i put up last night were for a large wooden play kitchen for DD2 for xmas, and a large wooden dolls house for DD1... it'd be £248.45 for both inc delivery.... but that'd be their main present bought and paid for already... and i've said i'm only going to buy co-ordinating toys for their main presents and clothing for xmas for them as they will get more than enough off other family, and already have more than enough toys too.

I did want a puppet theatre for DS and a wooden farm set but DH says that he doesn't think DS would play with them much at all as he's more into ben10 etc!! Boys- they grow up too fast!!

glaskham · 24/04/2009 09:41

Nat!!- forgot to say hello!! Not 'seen' you in a long time... then 2 days in a row??? are you feeling ok?? DH doesn't want to buy the girls the things until after our holidays, but thats all the way in oct!!! he said he doesn't want to spend all our money every month and get a month before our holiday and realise we have no spends....

BUT i have worked out that we'll have way more than enough to cover the holiday, with planty to spare if anything was needed between then and now!! Plus we've already paid the holiday balance, so all we need to pay still is our spends and passports, which we're paying passports in 2 weeks time.... why does he not understand me??? he's happy to spend over £350 on a wii, and buy a new car... but not on something i want to spend money on!!??

NatalieJane · 24/04/2009 11:24

Hiya Glask

GLTC (as well as the 10% you get off through MN) have some v. good sales throughout the year, you might be best to wait to see if either of them come up in the sale? But if you're anything like me, once I have something in my head, nothing will get in the way! And yep, DH's do tend to always manage to get their way, when we were expecting Mikey, --he'd- we'd said I we weren't going to buy anything until we knew everything was OK (after the previous MC) but by the time I was about 8 weeks (I think, it could have been less) he'd already had the bigger car sat on the drive! Men eh?!

There is something about men and cars though, when we were going through all the shit last month with the house/car, he was all over the car sales sites looking at what we could potentially afford, never mind the house, who needs a roof over your head when you've got a car?

DS2 is in bed, Mikey is sort of half asleep after only 4oz (usually takes 6oz each feed) I might try and get my head down for a bit, feeling mighty crap, and if I stay awake much longer I am going to give and eat and I can't do that! To say I'm starving isn't actually far from the truth!

GYo · 24/04/2009 11:47

Hello

Wow, quiet here today, guess everyone is out in the sunshine.

Great to hear from you Nat, sorry about sickiness... hope you are all better soon. No idea how you managed poorly DCs and being poorly yourself!

Hi Glask!

Ses- 1am!!! good on you though!! I was only up at 1am when I was that pregnant if I was in the loo

Diege- glad you are ok, was worried after reading Nat's post.

Moosy- did the MW ring yet? bit rubbish that. hope they are better when you meet them.

Lovely day again here and I've even hung out some washing and DD is now having a nap... So I am thinking of sitting outside in the sun or having an early lunch, am starving.

back laters.

NatalieJane · 24/04/2009 11:52

Hello

No sun here today, it's grey and miserable, cold, and still threatening to rain, and as I type the sun is just breaking through some cloud so maybe there is hope yet!

I've not gone to sleep, but I am using MN as a distraction from the food! It's working so far!

Diege · 24/04/2009 12:07

Hello! Phone hasn't stopped ringing from work despite the fact that I don't work there in a Friday but finally have a chance to get into MN!!
NAT, I don't care how poorly you are, you leave my Simon alone I can honestly say I would have one of those orgasnic births they talk about if I had him there twiddling my bits . I suppose Nadal could step in if Mr c wasn't available...
Hoping you feel better soon, esp now that you have a picture of Mr.C twiddling firmly in your mind
SES, I bow to your stamina and staying power - like GYO being up at 1am is strictly reserved for toilet visits . Having said that am off out myhself for a meal with friends tonight in Liverpool. Hopefully not back too late!!
Enjoy your nap GYO - no sun here!
GLASK, know exactly what you mean about tight wad dh's . Like getting blood out of a stone for things like shoes for the dds, but will thinking nothing of spending £400 plus on bike parts etc..

Anyone offer any advice re: my doula? Part of fee is two post-natal visits, but I really don't want these (just like being left to ourselves really)Would it be cheeky to see if she would adjust her fee to take this into account?? Feel a bit cheeky asking her, but wondered if I'm just being my usual conflict-avoider self??

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 24/04/2009 12:08

LOL! DH was a bit confused when I got home and (half asleep) asked what the time was...

Lovely and sunny here too - washing on the line. Think we need to make the most of it as I don't think the weekend's going to be so good.

NJ - nothing to eat since Tues lunchtime and looking after 3 DSs!! You sound like superwoman! Hope you're all feeling better soon.

GYo - hello! Sounds like all is well with the little giraffe

Baby moving well here but definitely developed into more ripple and bulging type movements! Still getting BH every so often (normally in the evening) but all quite mild and I'm kind of assuming that's what it is!

NatalieJane · 24/04/2009 12:16

PMSL I am quite ill enough without the thought of him at your buisness end twiddling or no twiddling thankyoumuchly!

Re. the doula, if you're sure you don't want the post-natal visits (have heard they're very good at making cups of tea! ) I would make it clear from the start so she doesn't feel 'pushed out' (but then I'm a softy!) and I'd leave the money thing up to her if you can affordibility wise. If not, you could just be blunt and ask if there is any give way in it. Have heard that many doulas will try to adjust their fee's regardless of how many visits etc. if they know someone is a bit tight. I suppose you have to think that they don't do it for the money, (although obviously they have to eat!) it is much more about just being there, well it's always the impression I have got anyway.

NatalieJane · 24/04/2009 12:18

Sorry Ses x posts.

Not superwoman, superhungrywoman maybe!

Mikey is waking up, going to try and get some more milk down him, will probably be back in a bit avoiding the fridge.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 24/04/2009 12:27

Diege - I'm completely with Nat on your Nadal and Simon Cowell fantasies.... YUK!!!! Good news is we'll never fight over them!
I think she's right about doula as well. I tend to avoid conflict for the sake of harmony too but I really think in this instance just explaining that you don't really want the PN visits (you've done this 3 times before) but would value her input for the birth and what would the cost be then? Perfectly reasonable that she should adjust her fee as it's much less of her time. Nothing to lose by asking!

Nat - hope Mikey get's some more milk down him.

Diege · 24/04/2009 12:29

Thanks for advice NAT!! May play it by ear and see if she suggests a lower fee etc...think I would just feel under pressure to have house tidy etc if she was popping round after the birth. Was bad enough doing it yesterday when she came round Hey on if first signs I was pregnant was fridge avoidance . You're not are you??
SES, also have similar movements, with the odd shuddering kick. Have always noted change to 'body ripples' from about 30 weeks, and same this time. Quite a nice feeling when they move away from diaphram (sp!!) and let you breath for a few secs!
Right off to Jo Jingkes with dd3 - wish us luck - first proper trip out with just knickers on (her, not me )

Diege · 24/04/2009 12:31

Yes, think I may well just ask SES - you're right, need to feel I can be open with her...all she can do is say no,

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 24/04/2009 12:42

Ooh! Good luck with just knickers at Jo Jingles!!
You made a good point yourself actually, Diege. You do need to feel relaxed and open with her anyway so don't avoid the conversation you need to have!

Right! I'm going to raid the fridge for lunch (sorry Nat!)

BBisfinallyPG · 24/04/2009 13:01

Hey all

Sorry for my absense!! honestly i AM going to keep up now as i have told my work so i can login from there at lunchtimes.
I am now 13 weeks and 1 say, had my scan tuesday, was all good am sooo happy!!

Big apologies for absense!!

I am going to be honest and say i will try to catch up but will defo keep up now! hope you are all well? if anyone is feeling charitable enough to give me a catch up i would soooo appreciate it xx

Kayzr · 24/04/2009 13:04

Hello,

I had a brilliant day yesterday!!! We had a lovely meal last night where DS1 was star of the show. He was asking for Beer and kept shouting "Drink" just like Father Jack from Father Ted.

Then this morning DH was at work for a few hours so I had planned a nice 3 mile walk next to the train line. Well half a mile in we stopped to stroke some horses and one bit DS1's finger, which then swelled up. Cue lots of screaming and a paniced run the the doctor's. All looks well and he was prescribed ice cream. It has gone down but I am a bit worried he will have a life long fear of horses now.

Tomorrow I am off to Whitby for Goth Weekend, must get DH to take a picture of me in all my gear.

Hope you are all well!!

Diege · 24/04/2009 14:38

Back from Jo jingles! All good, no accidents although dd3 did insist on showing teacher her knickers (which turned out to be full exposure) much to shock of teacher . Also ended shelling out almost £50 on new trainers and sandels for dd3 - that's one thing I still havenlt got used to, the price of kid's shoes!
BB, great to hear from you and good news on the scan - that really came around quickly!! I'll leave the catch up summary to someone far more qualified as my brain is mush at present!
KAYZ, glad you had such a lovely birthday, and goth nweekend has come around quickly! I remember you going last year. Yes, get dh to take piccy so we can have a look at costume!
Must ring doula - feeling very scared about asking about price etc - what a wimp ; maybe I'll leave it until Monday...
Right, off out again to get girls from school, then train to Liverpool when dh gets back!
Hope everyone is well. Sun out again here!

tinkisenjoyingthesun · 24/04/2009 14:46

diege crossed posts
glad jo j went well isnt she clever. shoes are exspensive arent they

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 24/04/2009 15:00

Diege - If you don't phone her, you'll only think about it until you do. (I know that would be the case if it was me!)

tink - I love that pram and bag

BB - yay for scan and having you back

Right, I'm off to Tesco in a minute. DH finally went to inflate my gym ball last night only to find we don't have the valve. I really could do with it to bounce on, lean on and put my feet up on!

Starshinetiger · 24/04/2009 15:42

Flying dash - can't remember what I've responded to and not.
GYo - yay for mini-Giraffe. How did the rest of the night go after the 7pm settling? You sound like you have got this motherhood knack down pat - I'm 2.5 year in now with two DC, can you give me some tips?! Glad you had a lovely NCT lunch. Might try osteo for DD - we did it with DS and it had some success. Will have to be after another trip to GOSH though - we have to go back on Monday as DD's scar has flared up - has a little red lump in it and she seems unsettled - went to GP this am then he sent us to local hospital, they rang GOSH and they have asked us to come in on Mon - as usual they were fab and told us what to look out for if it changes and then to let them know straight away, otherwise to go in on Mon. Meant I missed NCT lunch, which I had made a dish for - ho hum, making plans and children really don't go together
Nat - sorry for all the sickness in your household, hope you are all better soon.
Diege - agree with Ses on the Doula front, but like you, I would um and ah about mentioning it, but you know you'll feel better if you do. It is also a business arrangement as well as your birth support, so there is no harm in asking - she can say no.
LB - sorry for last night - was like that here, but DD just wouldn't settle, wouldn't feed, just seemed uncomfortable - if it happens again tonight, will just come downstairs with her I think! You and me both hanging in there for them getting more settled I think.
Kayz - glad you had a good bday, have a fab time at Goth weekend.
Glask - yay for Ruby's weight gain, hope it continues well. Boo for DHs and spending on pressies - you have time to work on him still!
BB - good to see you back, yay for 13 weeks!
STT - haven't "seen" you in a while, hope all is well and you're enjoying the glow of 2nd trimester.
Tink - your shopping prowess never ceases to amaze me - those things all sound lovely.
Waves at IDOB, LBOT, MIM, Gruff, Cosmo.
My cousin had her first baby the other day - over 10lbs - can't believe that's 2lbs over what DD is now and she's 6 weeks on Sunday!
Right - both DC fell asleep on way home from hospital, so am supposed to be getting myself a cuppa...

NatalieJane · 24/04/2009 15:53

Mikey had a full bottle It all came out the other end PDQ but at least it's going in !

Glad you had a lovely day Kay Have a great weekend

Tink, tut tut tut, ideas in head are no excuse!!! (except for my ideas and my head!! )

BB, hello stranger!!! I can't believe you are 13 weeks already Really pleased for you that the scan went well, how exciting!!

Ses, my first ball with DS2 had the valve missing as well, it's tres annoying!

OK, any FB experts about? I am trying to finally get my head around it all. If I make it obvious to all my old school friends who I am (i.e. none of them know my married name, so will mean changing my FB name) and then if I add some as friends, will they be able to see all of you on there and then link it all back to here and read everything on here? Have nothing to hide as such, but really don't want some of them knowing the ins and outs of my life, but would be nice to say hello and see what they're up to IYKWIM? Also, if I add my super-duper sister, that means I have to add my not so super-duper sister (have got round it so far by saying I have no idea what FB is for!), and I have written things on here about her that she probably wouldn't want to hear, so I really don't want it trailing back to MN. Will they know I spend half my life on here?

Ann Summer's is cancelled, was my friend's sort of friend hosting it, friend's sort of friend turns out to be a sarnie short of a picnic apparently, so we are having a little get together tonight (not sure how long my belly will last.....) but am about to go and try and make myself look not quite so much like death warmed up! I think the only way forward is surgery (or at least a bit of lippy and some magic pants )
