Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kayzr · 22/04/2009 21:50

We walked about 6 miles today(DH's short cut wasn't so short!!) and I am exhausted so hoping DS2 sleeps through. We all(except DS2) have sunburn. I have a white mark from my handbag as it is a cross body one!! I am slightly annoyed as the sun cream lotion we got for DS1 hasn't work and it is factor 50 so will be complaining.

Happy birthday to me for tomorrow!!!! My best friend is taking me for lunch and then we're out for dinner in the evening.

Might not be on tomorrow so hope everyone is well!!

tinkisenjoyingthesun · 23/04/2009 09:51

glaskham · 23/04/2009 10:23

Happy Birthday Kayz!! Hope its a good one, and enjoy your day out!!

Ruby was weighed yesterday and is now 5lb 4.5oz!!! wuhoo!! she'd put on 5.5oz in 5 days!!!

My sister is coming round today... thinking about having KFC for lunch... but i'd have to do extra workout on my wii-fit to make up for it... but i'm sure i can do that!! Haha!! I can't resist a naughty zinger burger!!

Then Ruby has her 1st jabs this afternoon ... she's so tiny and has skinny legs i honestly dont think she's going to like it, she doesn't have much fatty muscle to get yet!! poor girly!!

lastboxoftampons · 23/04/2009 10:36

Morning

GYO - congrats! Sounds like you've got this parenting thing cracked! Seriously, glad you had such a fab day and I hope it continues. Well done!!!!

Kay - Happy Birthday! Have a great day!

Glask - Well done for Ruby's weight gain! That's brilliant!

Nothing much to report here - except I handed in my MatB1 form this morning! This is all getting kinda real!

Moosy · 23/04/2009 11:57

Happy birthday Kayz, enjoy your day!

Glad you got your forms sorted at last LBOT

MW still hasn't rung me

Glask, well done for Ruby's weight gain, how's the feeding going now?

GYo, glad things are looking up for you, IME osteo is brilliant. Makes them cranky for the rest of day but is SO worth it afterwards. I've had it done on both DDs, it's really helped with reflux, night terrors, cold-related headaches, general grumpiness (hmm, maybe I should have a go?).

Diege, hope you're ok, no news since you said you weren't feeling well?

Feeling a bit better today, I've hung out last night's washing and put another load on, and, wait for it...... I've washed up - hooray! The kitchen no longer smells of dead things! Not sure I'm quite up to tackling the bathroom though, perhaps DH can be persuaded

NatalieJane · 23/04/2009 12:56

Hello

Oh my goodness what a week? I actually can't remember most of what I've just read but it sounds like all the new mummies are getting through any feeding problems as best you can, and it's all going good. I remember the first few months weeks with DS1, am very ashamed to say that it got to the point where one night I said to DH "if I ever get pregnant again, please remind me of all of this because I really don't want to do this again" and but I suppose time goes on, you learn some things the hard way, and it all turns out for the best.

I'm worried about Diege, hasn't she said before she was induced with one of her DD's for PE? The swelling and head aches and general unwellness was ringing alarm bells with me as I was reading it, and now nothing from her since. Has anyone got her mobile to stalk or anything?

Think my last post was about me being ill, and then DS2 coming down with D&V? That was last Friday, he carried on being sick and yukky nappies all weekend, we took him to GP's Tuesday because he stopped even drinking, GP said he had a red throat so prescribed him AB's for a throat infection, which incidently may cause D&V but I said to DH surely a throat infection wouldn't cause D&V, and the fact he'd been being sick 6 times a day probably had more to do with his red throat, the poor little thing has only really just got back to normal, he's still playing for half an hour and then having to sit down for 5 minutes before he's off again. Then DS1 had the sickness all day Sunday, once all over his bed, we are getting them bunk beds next month so we've chucked his mattress out and he's using his trundle thingymebob mattress for now. And then, just because I can't be left out of anything anymore, Tuesday night my stomache started griping, I was sick early Wednesday morning, spent all day yesterday completely out of it, and even today the thought of food is making my belly turn (so I'm feeling ya Moosy! ) and now Mikey is joining in with yukky nappies..... so we've had/are having great fun here!

Am looking forward to the weekend though, so long as everyone is better, I'm going to an Ann Summer's party, never been to one before (how sad is that?! ) so I am strangely excited! Warned Told DH he'd better sort out the toy box Think he is looking forward to Sunday night more than I'm looking forward to Saturday! LOL

Right think I'd best put a brave face on and get DS2 some lunch, even the smell of the fridge is enough to turn my stomache, not sure how I'm going to manage actually making him anything

Diege · 23/04/2009 14:24

Hello! Sorry for worrying you - just been a very hectic couple of days as maternity leave is heading ever closer! No worries of pre-eclamasia (I hope) though swelling is getting worse, and I have 'got form' as NAT says so may see moidwife next week just for usual checks. Saw the doula this morning! She seems lovely, though poor dh didn;t know where to look when she started telling him that birth was a 'sexual process' - his face was priceless . Think we will go ahead with her, though after having a good think, am veering more towards the NHS midwife led unit than home - really more to allay dh's concerns, but also because I would actually be as happy with this as home - just don;t want laying down on back consultant-led birth this time!
Must have a read through!!! Happy birthday for today KAYZ!! Anything special planned?
Hello to everyone - back when I've caught up!

NatalieJane · 23/04/2009 14:42

Sexual process??? My arse! And that's not a sexual process either!!

Seriously, am v. pleased you're OK, just keep on top of it!

Have heard of these women that have orgasmic experiences in child birth, have always been a bit about it myself, how something ripping through the very place you are most sensitive can be orgasmic is far beyond me... but each to their own.

So has anyone on here seen this thread about cutting your own hair? MN has gone mad!

Diege · 23/04/2009 15:08

I know what you mean NAT - about as sexual a process as Bernhard Manning
Must investigate hair cutting thread - not something I'd consider!

glaskham · 23/04/2009 16:38

Moosy- feeding is going well again, think we're almost back to normal... she's been feeding every 2hrs or so today so far. her last feed was actually at 1ish... so so far so good.

I text Kay earlier to wish her a nice birthday and she seems to be having a nice day so far!!

Got back from her jabs just before, went as well as can be expected. Went to the baby shop in the village and bought the most stunning little baby's hat ever!! Think she'll be wearing it tomorrow as its just so pretty!!

afternoon all. I dont want to brag to much as I am sure it was a fluke but DS slept through last night!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!

He fed almost all afternoon and then went down at 8.30 and went through till 5 then fed till 6 and went back down till 8.

We are just back from London where we had a lovely day with friends. DS has been very sick today so dont think he will go through tonight as he will be tres hungy!!!

Good to hear from you NJ sorry you are all ill.

Happy birthday Kay

Glad doula went well diege

Moose sorry

hi everyone else

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 23/04/2009 18:07

LB - brag away!! Make the most of it when it happens

tink - good to see you're still shopping!

Diege - thanks for reassuring us! Good news about doula.

NJ - sorry for all the sickness. LOL at sexual process

GYo - glad osteo seems to have helped. You're starting to make it all sound so easy. Hope it's feeling that way for you

Moos - can't believe MW still not been in touch!!!

LBOT - err...yes it's real, girl!!

I've had a nice day. Lunch with a couple of work friends, then a bit of cleaning, bit of chilling, dead heading of daffs, another friend popped over briefly and then tonight out with some old school friends for pizza!
Think I might need to rest tomorrow!!

glaskham · 23/04/2009 18:20

Ladies... need some retail help... GHD's... do i get gold, black, or purple ones?? the purple come with matching travel hairdryer, which to be honest i dont need as i still have my uber expensive proffesional one i bought when i was a hairdresser, but i love the pattern and that i'd have it all in one little bag... but for £13-18 less i can just get the straighteners which is all i really want and need... DH has just said to buy what i want but i feel guilty buying the expencive ones just for the pattern (can you tell i'm not used to splashing out on myself??) and the basic ones will do exactly the same job... i am thinking if i was to get just a black one i'd have extra money to treat the kids, and as we're going to the sealife centre tomorrow i'd feel much happier... argh!!!! help me decide?? i'm wanting to order tonight to get them asap...

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 23/04/2009 18:25

I'd go for either purple or black.
Purple does look fab and if both were the same price, the obvious choice
If you got the black ones, would you forever look at them secretly lusting after the purple ones??

glaskham · 23/04/2009 18:28

possibly... but for the pretty big price difference i think i'd be happy with the black- i mean i'm only going to be using them for special occasions.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 23/04/2009 18:30

Maybe you could look at your lovely new black GHDs then with smug thoughts of how you saved money which helped with your day out with DCs?!

glaskham · 23/04/2009 19:09

have just bought the gold set (but standard black GHD's) as i searched the free products and they are about £7 each to buy... so i can justify the extra £5 when i'm getting a free bag, purse and 3 products!!

Have also listed our old car on ebay this afternoon.. got a couple of watchers already, within a couple of hours.

Kids are looking forward to seeing all the fish etc tomorrow, but DS has said he'll be scared of the big sharks!!

Diege · 23/04/2009 19:42

Good going on the shopping gLASK . I've had my GHDs for a few years now, and they have been worth every penny.
LB, sound a good day out, and fingers crossed ds sleeps through again. It's a great feeling!
SES, sympathies on shoe shopping front. I also thought an extra size would suffice, but the only thing that will 'take' my elephant feet are birkenstocks (at a pinch) or flip flops. Thank goodness the weather is nice!
Hello to everyone else! Have read through but have a brain like mush, so apologies for not responding to everyone!

kookykid · 23/04/2009 20:29

Remember me? Have been so rubbish at keeping up with posting.... again, but trying to lurk to keep up to date. I've been keeping busy with Mum being here, potty-training and trying to cop with going back to work after the Easter holidays (Yuk).

Kayz - Haappy Birthday! Hope you got spoilt rotten and had a lovely day. Whatcha get, whatcha get??

GYO - great that the osteo worked wonders for mini-giraffe. Sounds like it could make all the difference!

NJ - all the illness sounds awful - hope you are recovering now.

Diege - the doula sounds nice, but had to PMSL about birth being a sexual process!! Classic! MW-led birthing centre sounds like a good compromise for everyone.

LB - great that Owen is sleeping through - long may it last!

Moos - how're you feeling?? Hope early pregnancy isn't being too rough on you.

Glask - poor little Ruby with her injections - ouch. Great news about her weight too. Can't help with th GHDs - I never do anything with my hair! Too lazy I think.

We had our 20 week scan today (although am 21 weeks already!) and it was the best scan we've ever had. Really lovely sonographer and very clear picture of our little boy. He was kicking like mad and she could feel him too! Am so glad we found out the sex as I feel really close to him already. So relieved after all that worry earlier on.

DD is being sweet about her "lickle brudder" and sings him songs and kisses my tummy (melts my heart every time!). She has done really well with the potty-training, although still finding it tricky to poo in the right place! Having my mum here from Oz has been such great timing. It's been much easier with 2 people on the case.

glaskham · 23/04/2009 20:37

Kooky- Congrats on the BOY!!! so glad your scan was so good for you!!

I think i have the spending bug today- i'm currently searching ebay for a hand knitted matinee coat for ruby to match her hat, and to fit her before she's in newborn size.

Can't find any nice enough or that match in the right size... may have to just settle for the hat!!

glaskham · 23/04/2009 21:04

Think i'm getting this for the girls for xmas!!! I've fallen in love with it... i wanna buy it now, I'm working on DH to let me buy it now and stash it away for them ready for xmas... is that a bit silly to be buying so early?? He thinks buying it now i'd want it putting up and use it now and then just want to spend even mor eon another main xmas present for them!!

glaskham · 23/04/2009 21:12

sorry this but i think that may have to be just for DD2 as i've now also seen this for DD1- her barbies will fit in it!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 24/04/2009 07:37

Morning

Was out with 3 old school friends last night and didn't get in til 1am! Was good to catch up but quite surreal at times too as some things never change... The one that always used to get really drunk was still the one that got really drunk - falling over her handbag on the way to the bar and needing a bit of support to get home! Just like old times!

This morning I've got a friend popping round who's down from Liverpool staying with her family. Haven't seen her since before I was pg! Then this afternoon I may need to try and catch up on some sleep!

Glask - couldn't get those last links to work but shopping sounds good.

Kooky - great to hear all well at scan. Can't believe you're more than half way!!!

Kay - hope you had a great birthday!

NatalieJane · 24/04/2009 08:23

Ses!!! You dirty little stop out!!

Will be back for more after school run, just couldn't let the 1am finish time from a very heavily pregnant woman pass me by! xxx
