Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Starshinetiger · 18/04/2009 11:18

Morning all - keep getting on to catch up and then not having a chance to post.
Sorry for illness everywhere - hope all are recovered now.
CONGRATULATIONS Gruff and Mr Gruff - love the name.
Ses - ooh, my labour with DS started with me being up at 4.30am with period style cramps - I gave birth at 8.51pm that night - but I guess it would be a bit early for you
Kayz - good luck with midwifery access course application.
Moos - sorry for problems with DH's XW - hope it all gets sorted out.
Sorky - how do you find time to clear a room out with 4 children to look after - I'm struggling to get anything done with only 2!
BTW I didn't mean to imply on my post the other day that people bfing in public should ccover up - just wanted to suggest some ways GYo might feel more comfortable bfing in public.
Those of you bfing - are you in any kind of routine? DD is 5 weeks and guess she has found her own routine, but it involves feeding all evening until about 10.30 and then going to sleep and feeding every 2-2.5 hours, during day is just on demand. From what I can recall, we did manage to get DS into going to bed about 7ish from about 9/10 weeks, but by that time he was on bottle top-ups, as he was losing weight (due to severe reflux). I'm only 5 weeks in, but not sure whether just to go with the flow with her, or try and get her into a bedtime routine - how do you do this with more than one child at home (DH works evenings 4-5 nights per week, so I'm on my own and DS is in bed somewhere around 7.45 and has his own routine I need to include - any tips?!). Have GF and Baby Whisperer, but while they say you can routine with bfing, it doesn't seem to work for me so far.
Also - when do you express? I managed to express 2ozs when I got up yesterday morning, but that was it and am worried to express while she's sleeping in case she wakes up and I don't have enough for her in my boobies. Can anyone also recommend an expresser?
Sorry for all questions and me post.
Diege - enjoy pub lunch, sounds lovely.
Is DH's bday tomorrow and we're going out for lunch somehwere - something I wouldn't have considered when DS was 5 weeks old - PFB and neurotic mother syndrome combined and all that!
Wishing you all sunny days!
Also,

Diege · 18/04/2009 16:37

Hi STAR! Good to hear from you . How is Charlotte doing? I know what you mean about routines - never managed one with dd1 who was bf, though surprisingly easy with bottle-fed babies.
Back from pub - very relaxing as we just let the dds run around screaming at the outside play area, and pretended they weren't ours... Feel shattered now after all that sunshine!
Hope everyone is out having fun!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 18/04/2009 17:50

hi everyone, not been on for a bit but have been Reading via phone so kind of up to date. Having a bath whilst dh holds DD so bliss!!!

firstly msg from Gruff; apparently little Zach had a few probs from the delivery so she is still in hosp with him. I passed on all the congrats though.

Hi star, good to hear from you, the pics of charlotte and your family are great , you all look really happy. Sorry I can't offer routine advice but I will be watching the replies with interest. I'm Reading the whsiperer book now!
Was it you who suggested a southern meet in Reading? That would be great for me, I'm really not far away at all

Diege- great newss that DH is ok with idea of doula. Hope she can help you decide about the home birth. Fwiw, I was shittingbricks about doing it but the cd and Ina Mays book really helped.

Moosy- sorry about the xwife. Hope its ores soon. Stress is no good for sickness. Have u been sick yet? Hope it passes quickly for u

Sorrky. I'm shocked that you manage 4 DCs, schooling them and tidying up all day. Makes feel ashaed to struggle with one!

Hi MinM good to hearfrom you.

been out all day diggin the allotment so haven't had a chance to catchup.

Hope gruff's doing okay

Speak later x

Moosy · 19/04/2009 09:42

Morning all, feeling crappy today and felt awful yesterday, had no energy, was really hungry but didn't have enough energy to lift my fork! Perhaps it is a girl after all!

XW situation isn't as bad as we thought, turns out she's not a money-grabbing *&%^$£ after all! She had to do the application by law as it effects her taxes and she's happy not to claim anything from us, it's just a formality. Her words were "she has everything she needs, sun, sand, sea and all the pineapple she can eat!"

Hope Gruff and Gruffboy are ok, any more news?

Reading sounds good for the Southern meetup, it's easy for me to get to by train with just one change at Bristol which even I can cope with!

OMG someone pinch me I think I am dreaming.......

I was so tired yesterday DS had a very sicky day and didn't sleep hardly at all. So when he went down and nine o clock last night I went to bed with him... The (wait for it wait for it) he woke up at 3 o clock for his feed. Yes that is 6 hours!!! I couldn't believe it. He then fed for an hour and went back down at 4. DD woke up at 5 and came into our bed but then we all slept until 7. I fed DS and he went back down so I went back to sleep and DP has just woken me up with breakfast in bed!!!!!!!!!!!

I must of had about 8 hours sleep in all last night. I feel like a new women even if I did have to go to bed early.......

DS is still asleep in bed next to me we havent even got up yet.... I am eating my bacon and egg sandwich and drinking my coffee and MNing in bed..... bliss!!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 19/04/2009 10:53

Morning

LB - that's great that you got a solid block of sleep!! Now he just needs to learn to repeat that!!

Moos - big sigh of relief then re XW!!

Reading also good for me for meet up later in the summer.

Sorky - I'm with GYo...Don't know how you manage with 4DC, HE, running the house and digging an allotment!!!!

GYo - thanks for the Gruff update. Thinking of them.
And get you! Only 6lb off your pre-pg weight!!! I feel like I'm growing by the day here. Guess I am!

Diege - glad your DH has been supportive re doula. Probably a good time to start looking into your options too.

DH is off to Belfast with work this afternoon and then back tomorrow. My cousin's coming over later and staying over. She's agreed to do me a pedicure

Hi everyone else.... tink, Star, Kay, NJ, LBOT, IDOB, MITM, Glask...

Kayzr · 19/04/2009 11:00

Morning!!

Thanks for the update on Gruff, I hope she gets to come home soon.

Sorky, I also agree I don't know how you do it.

Yay for nice XW after all Moos!!

LB, that sleep is fabulous and what a lovely DP you have.

I am dead, literally. We walked 5.6 miles yesterday and I am knackered. It was ok until we got to the hill I had to push the boys up!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 19/04/2009 11:11

we managed in our new room!!
dd1 is much happier in her own room
dh working till 3pm having mummy time.

Diege · 19/04/2009 12:51

Afternoon! Have had a lazy morning, and even after a good sleep feel shattered...Had a dream that we (all the wagoners) were living in my nana's old flat in Llandudno with our newborn babies, and Sorky was passing round bread and jam for the babies who were just licking off the jam. Very bizarre!!
Good to hear update on GRUFF - hope things are ok and that you and grufette will be home soon xxx
SES enjoy your pedicure! That is one thing I must get done as can't reach to paint nails at present and have refused dh's offer to do French manicure (also his offer to do bikini line ).
KAYZ, think of all the goodness the walk will have done you! Can you claim back WW points for exercise these days?
MOOSY excellent news about x-wife - you must both be very releived!
LB, great to hear you got sleep and breakfast in bed too!
TINKS, glad the new sleeping arrangements worked!
My god SORKY do you ever stop We had an allotment round the corner from our house a few years ago, but found it so time consuming after dd1 was born that we had to give it up. Do you get much produce from it?
Right, am going to wake dh up from his 'just reading my book for a few minutes' slumbers

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 19/04/2009 13:15

Diege · 19/04/2009 13:44

Diege · 19/04/2009 14:05

Oh, and I did tell DH about my dream, he was a bit annoyed though, as I don't have enough energy for such things when I'm awake!
