I have gone with Sorky's idea!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diege · 17/04/2009 17:19

Yes, tis a good sign the sickness, esp if you've had it before so they say... I really was unprepared for quite how bad it would be this time round, and to my horror felt the old retching when brushing teeth/gaginbg when taking vits rearing its ugly head again last night. Feel fine today though, and am currently (very guiltily) eating dd3's packet of Thornton's strawberry marbled buttons (for the milk you understand, to help the heartburn)
The doula I mentioned e-mailed back and sounds lovely. She's local too, and has suggested meeting for a 'no strings' chat. eek!! Feel very nervous now..perhaps I should mention to dh when he gets back.. Can't help but feel I'm making this whole birth thing into far more than I should maybe because I feel I 'failed' the other 3 times?!!

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 17/04/2009 17:23

moosy - that sounds like a stressful situation hope it gets sorted!!

lbot - ye for purchases

wish i could buy playhouse, trampoline, baby annabell and dolls pram - cant buy till not this tues but following one

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 17/04/2009 17:24

diege - doula sounds good

i am so impressed with how well i am keeping up on here

Moosy · 17/04/2009 17:24

Oh Diege, you didn't fail, they came out alive didn't they?! The chat with the doula sounds good, no harm in it anyway!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 17:32

Moos - sounds difficult with XW in Oz. Hope it manages to get sorted as easily as poss.

Diege - I don't think any woman can ever fail in childbirth no matter what the outcome. Even though I've not been there (yet!) I don't see how any woman can stop her body doing what it has to do. Yes, there are certain things that can help, such as relaxation, but each birth is different and for some women it is really stressful. That does not mean failure!!!

I've had an afternoon nap for the first time today! Just feel even more sleepy as a result now!

Diege · 17/04/2009 17:51

Thanks . Oh but I am truly rubbish at childbirth, really I am I'll admit. I am such a perfectionist in most areas of my lfe (see jeans buying!)that I think I'm just frustrated at my inability to do more than cry out for pain relief!! I mean there must be some technique that I'm not 'getting' . I appreciate what you're saying SES and MOOS though!
TINKS, yes v. impressed at keeping up
Dh and dds not back yet...hope all is well, they were meant to be back mid-afternoon.
Lovely and sunny here now - odd weather!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 17:59

My DH has just got home from work. He went to Tesco on his way home and got the baby a cute baby gro, vest, hat and bib
(His main reason for going to Tesco was to replace his broken beer fridge but they didn't have one!)

Diege · 17/04/2009 18:27

Sure you're not married to Homer Simpson SES
Dds back and dd3 has spotted the empty choc buttons packet . I've said it's mine but she's not convinced...

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 18:32

LOL!

I can just picture DD3 looking suspiciously between you and the empty packet

Have you met my DH???!! He always says he aspires to be a cross between Homer Simpson and Joey from Friends
(Just with the irish accent!)

Diege · 17/04/2009 18:36

Thinking about it, Joey from Friends does share many traits with Homer (just a lot more easy on the eye..).

lastboxoftampons · 17/04/2009 18:41

Moos So sad that a little girl has to be in the middle of all of this. I hope everything works out alright.

Glad you're feeling okay. In my first tri, I was nauseous a bit, but not absoltuely constant, and every morning I had a bit of retching/gagging, which never amounted to much, but kept me reassured

Diege - they're just from Next, and I think they're comfy just because the others were so UNcomfy. But actually they're a really good length, just long enough to wear either with flats/trainers or heels and not look stupid either way. I'm not mad on the color, but they'll do. I feel much more, um, secure (?) with over the bump trousers - and they help to smooth out the very unattractive valley that seems to be my bellybutton at the moment! and, what utter rubbish about you being a failure at childbirth! You are brilliant to have done it at all let alone four times!!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 18:45

Hmmm... Don't think DH would forgive me for telling me which he looks like more... He certainly has the belly of one of them!!

LBOT - I'm with you all the way on over the bump trousers/jeans. I got my pair from JoJo Maman Bebe.

Diege · 17/04/2009 18:52

Thanks LBOX!! Have just spoken to dh and he is happy to have a doula if it's what I want . Will def ring her up and arrange a meeting .
May have a last minute look at Next for jeans - had sort of dismissed them as I'm in between lengths, but a look wouldn;t do any harm
SES, think Joey has a bit of a belly too these days from what I've seen

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 18:57

sorkycakey · 17/04/2009 18:59

I have spent the entire day cleaning out our HE room I'm now knackered and off for a bath.

Moos XW's are rarely endearing creatures. Perhaps she'll be more reasonable with a solicitors letter. How will she react do you think when you tell her you're expecting? Will she admit your needs are greater?

Diege I think the Doula is an excellent idea and a very positive step to taking control of a process which is uncontrollable iyswim. It is a brave decision to birth at home if you're scared or unsure of being able to cope and a doula can certainly help with those feelings.
Having had 2 previous hwb, I was scared shitless of the last one, I'd been there and done it, but it didn't stop the fear.
I had to try something different so gave the cd a whirl and honestly no one was more surprised than me when I started to look forward to the birth, rather than fear and dread it.

Can't remember anything else I'm afraid, brain feels befuddled atm.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 19:00

DH is asking for me to get his meal. I'd much rather go out to the pub round the corner but he doesn't want to after a long week at work. Guess I really should get to the kitchen. Not as if I've done anything constructive today...
In fact I think today was the first day of ML that I haven't had something scheduled!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 19:31

Oh I am a bad wife... Have persauded DH to phone out for Chinese...

Diege · 17/04/2009 19:53

I think that's it SORKY, being able to look forward to something feeling that you've at least had some control over the uncontrollable! Big clear out sounds good! Bet you feel very virtuous now, if knackered
SES, I would get a take-away for you and dh if I were you . That's where I've sent dh - for a nandos and a horror dvd
Right, probably off for evening...poor dd3 hasn;t stopped wailing about those buttons..next time I'll make sure I dispose of the evidence first! I'd forgotten LOs remember everything about their possessions!

Diege · 17/04/2009 19:54

That's my girl

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 18/04/2009 05:34

Been awake since 4am. Woke up needing a wee and then couldn't get back to sleep with indigestion and ?BH. Have finally given up and come downstairs in my dressing gown. Hopefully I'll be able to get a nap this afternoon and catch up. This morning we have an extra NCT class 10-12.
Hope you're all still snoozing happily

Kayzr · 18/04/2009 08:18

Morning,

Ses, I was awake then feeding Dylan and didn't get back to sleep until 6 I should have got up and had a chat!

Moos, I hope the stuff with XW gets sorted out. I think it is a bit unfair her asking for money when it was previously agreed that he wouldn't have to pay. If he does end up having to pay they are very good. My friends DD is in oz as her mother(wanted to write another word there) decided to go back to Oz while she was pg. They take into account how much it costs for your DH to fly there, stay in hotel and fly home.

Now I can't remember anything else!! I still have pregnancy brain!!

Kayzr · 18/04/2009 08:50

Oh and a little excitement here. I am looking at going back to college to do an Access course in Midwifery. Hopefully I'll get accepted and I can be a midwife.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 18/04/2009 09:37

I'd say that is VERY exciting Kay

I did fall asleep for an hour on the sofa at 7.30. Now off to NCT.

Catch you all later!

mommyinthemiddle · 18/04/2009 09:44

Trying to catch up with the thread but you have all been so busy chatting i haven't got passed page 13 i think. We have been without proper internet access for a few days due to moving. Had withdrawal sypmtoms

Move went ok, not having own space is just as bad as i thought if not worse, i was in tears on the first night. Suppose we just have to get use to it. Will try and read through today and catch up with everyone properly. We are still busy moving furniture and trying to clean up old house, please swimming lessons today so no promises.
Hope all is well
CONGRATULATIONS to Gruff on Zachary (i did manage to catch that) Love the name.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Diege · 18/04/2009 10:41

Good to hear from you MIM! Are you actually in your new house now, or still 'in between'? Just imagine, in a few weeks you will be settled, and ready for the new arrival
SES, I was also awake at 4am, after dd3 woke me up asking for 'Reesy' her best teddy . Just lay there till about 5.30 feeling sorry for myself, and bad indigestion from last night's Nandos! Glad you could get a rest this morning, and enjoy the NCT class
KAYZ, that's great news about your plans to be a midwife! My sister is a midwife, so just give me a shout if you need any 'inside' info' re: filling in forms etc as she does process the ones that come to our place to get onto midwifery
Lovely day here, so thinking about going to pub with outside play area for lunch. Hope everyone has a good day!
