I have gone with Sorky's idea!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 17:46

Moos - this is going to sound silly, but I'm not sure... Just laid down and looking at bump it stays smooth and if I try to sit up and use my stomach muscles it goes all more out front. However, when I'm lying down, it's quite squidgy.
I guess I've still got 3.5 weeks to go and I'm seeing the consultant on Tues...

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 17:50

go for a hb diege. like you said if an epidural isn't there you don't think about it. then you can move, eat be where you want. if at anytime you feel you can't cope have it written in your birth plan that you wish to transfer to hospital, they can page the Anaesthetist who could be able to see you promptly.

3 grand seems a lot given they won't offer that much more except a ?debrief.
I had a vision of you attending said debrief at one hundred hours promptly " baby? check. mother? check. cheque? check. Well, that all seems in order, off you go then"

Moos every single one of my kids is a different sex according to that chart lol

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 17:52

Ah don't use your stomach muscles to sit up Ses. It sounds as if they've separated!
Lots of hands and knees positioning just in case baby is OP.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 17:55

Ooh no Sorky!! I guess my stomach muscles were never much before I was pg so maybe not much hope...
Will definitely get that gym ball out.

glaskham · 15/04/2009 18:02

used my wii-fit for the first time last night, just been on it again now, and since yesterday and the exercises i did then and today i've lost 3lb in a day!!!!

though i'm feeling very lazy now and have just ordered pizza for tea!!!! though my aim was to loose 1st8lb in 6mths so 3lb in a day was a bit fast... the pizza will even me out a bit!! haha!!

Nurse came round with some special formula for ruby, its got extra calories in it to help her catch up... she said hopefully that'll help get her weight up very fast. fingers crossed eh!!

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 15/04/2009 18:08

got bracken weighed has gained 1oz and had her 2nd injections wasnt impressed.
moosy - sweet!
glas - shame about formula
ses- my dd1s name for baby was socks lol

glaskham · 15/04/2009 18:08

oh and yesterday my wii-fit age was 21, and today it was 20!! DH's wii-age was 31 yest and is 40 today.... declan's wii-age is 22!! i've never known anyone with a wii-age lower than their actual age... and it's not taken into acount that i had major abdominal surgery just under 8weeks ago!! wuhoo!!

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 18:24

Moos George is better than Noddy, which was Dd1's first choice for Ds1

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 18:26

Ok so now I'm paranoid confused.

Poking and pushing around bump seemed to set off loads of movements just now and feels like baby has moved back into position it was in 24 hrs ago - head engaged, bum over to my right and back facing outwards. Loads of fanjo movements and went to the loo but not much came out of my bladder. Walked back into bedroom and felt a trickle of something. I've put a liner on and will wait and see I suppose...

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 18:42

ooh Ses do update us!

Diege · 15/04/2009 18:50

Oooh SES you and your poking . Sure all is well - could it have been a dribble of wee?? [only on mumsnet eh ) BTW, all my dds (and this one at moment) were posterior lie, and the saucer shape is VERY obvious. That's one reason I will be trying everything this time to get him to flip around, although I've been told that as I have an anterior placenta babies do like to face their placentas, hence greater chance of this one not turning...
SORKY, think it's just plain old fear that seems to be holding me back from HB. I do associate birth with fear, panic and being out of control, so obviously need to get my head sorted about this first!
GLASK, wii thingy sounds good (I feel so old...have a vague idea of what you're talking about ).
Right, dh back, speak later

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 18:51

Think it is just paranoia...
Nothing more at the moment. Was just confused that I had only emptied bladder a minute earlier...

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 19:09

Diege I used a natal hypnotherapy cd to help me to approach the birth calmly, as I was hurtling towards irrational panic. It's yours if you want it.
I think GYo bought the same one and found it really useful too
It definitely helped me to approach the birth positively and the breathing techniques also helped the early stage of labour for pain relief

Diege · 15/04/2009 19:23

SORKY, wow that's really generous of you Can I give you anything for it? Def sounds like something that could be useful for me and my panicky tendencies..
SES, don't fall for the old emoty baldder trick. I swear I've fully emptied mine when pregnant (rocking and everything) and then a few minutes later have done a full gush horse wee

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 19:28

Thanks guys

Off to NCT tonight. Maybe she'll tell us all about the secrets of the teasing bladder!

lardybump · 15/04/2009 21:36

Evening all, I dont seem to be able to get on during the day....

I am very of you all having 4 hourly feeds. I would kill for 4 hours sleep at the moment!!! I got out dd's book today and she was sleeping through the night at 7 weeks!!! I really did have it easy with her! (apart from her weight issues and having to give up BF). DS has no weight issues and BF is ok (although he does get stressed at boobie somethimes but we think that is because we can not wind him and he gets really bad trapped wind) but he doesnt go more than two hours! DP gave him a bottle of expressed Breast milk last night he took 4 oz really nicely and went 3 hours!!!

4 hours oh please just give me 4 hours , I might even consider selling my first born for 4 hours sleep (cheeky little monkey that she has become)!! No not really I couldn't part with her she actually sleeps at night....

anyway as you are all doing something more important than MNing I will love you and leave you!! Going to the big smoke tomorrow with the both children so wont be on until later so have a lovely day one and all..

Congrats to gruff and mr gruff phew what a time you had!!! All worth it in the end though, looking forward to seeing the pics...

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 16/04/2009 07:28

Morning everyone...

LB ? lol about sellng your first born for 4hrs sleep.. i know what you mean though it feels desperate after a while. Do you get to sleep during the day at all?

Diege- backing up what Sorky said, I?d recommend the Natal Hypnotherapy CD (I had the Maggie Howell one). Worth getting and starting it sooner rather than later, though its helpful from as late as just before the birth. I did use the relaxation techniques during early to mid labour. I also use them now when trying to go back to sleep after a night feed. I cant believe a birthing centre is charging 3000...

Hi Ses- how was NCT? Hope your poking/ bladder teasing has calmed down.. Isnt it time to start your syndicate now the Gruff-not-so-ette has been born

Moos - your DDs are so cute.. bet they are so excited... funny they chose a boys name to suggest.....

Hi Glask, good to hear from you. Sorry you are being asked to give more formula to Ruby. Hope the hi cal stuff gets her going soon. Hope your nephew recovers soon too.

Sorky/ Diege Im interested in hearing how you get on with routines and b/feeding. Ive got the GF book lurking on the shelf and really keen to get going with a routine once the small giraffe starts gaining some girth.. I find the demand feeding quite hard going for some reason.. would much prefer a routine

Kayz- great to think about relactation. Has DH changed his mind about it at all? Im sure DS2 would love it.

Things here moving along. The lactation consultant came yesterday. Suggested frequent feeding via biological nurturing positions, cranial osteopathy and seeing the GP which I?m doing today. Fundamentally DD looks really healthy so it?s a mystery why she isn?t piling on wt or pooing much... She is still 450g below her birth wt at nearly 4wks, though she is being weighed again tomorrow. The consultant also suggested holding her myself all the time and not letting others hold her, other than DH... to help with the bonding/ milk prod etc Not sure how well that will go down at the two family events I?ve got this w/e- DD will be meeting her cousins and my uncle from overseas for the first time, I?m going to look like a neurotic / PFB mother (though I probably am!!) if I don?t let them hold her but equally I don?t want her being treated like a toy!

Diege · 16/04/2009 08:26

Morning! Have dd3 off today with older dds as she had quite a nasty cough this morning so have kept her off nursery...counting down the hours to bedtime already
GYO, sounds like things are going well, although I can see your point about trying not to come across as overly neurotic at meet-up with family . Think I would let them have a quick cuddle each then tuck her away - tbh I wouldn't worry too much at all about weight if she seems to be healthy - as in the womb babies follow their own 'curve' and have spurts that don't always fit to those they 'should' have! From memory the gf routines for bf baby look pretty complex (inc. lots of expressing) partly why I chose to bottle feed with dds 2&3 but of course worth it if you want the benefits of bf and the relative ease of routines! I never really got on with demand feeding, though perservered - don't think me or dd1 knew whether we were coming or going with it!
LB, sympathies on the sleep front! I know it's hard going, but (as you know) it will get better. Must be a shock after having such a good sleeper with dd! How is she getting on with her baby brother?
Hope everyone is OK and that your bladder has calmed down SES!

sorkycakey · 16/04/2009 08:30

GYo I'd be tempted to babywear her and carry on with demand feeding until she gains her eight if that's what you're worried about. I don't know whether you co-sleep either but that might be worth considering too.
I find demand feeding hard too, but for me, it increases my milk supply massively so it's kinda worth it. Might well be different for others though.

Dd2 is 8.5 weeks old and I've finally got my mojo-jojo back , she was up this morning at 6.30am fed and snoozed another half hour, so I got up got dressed and had breakfast before the rest of me hearties awoke. She fed the other side at 7.15am, so now if the routine goes to plan I'll put her in her cot at 9am.
Diege if you send me your address I'll post the cd to you (same one as GYo had) alongwith the Tramadol.

LB have a lovely day , you doing fabulously on 3 hours sleep , rather looking forward to meet-up I have to say

Morning to everyone else......off to gather up History books, it's Cleopatra and Greek myths today (I love history )

Kayzr · 16/04/2009 08:43

Morning,

Sorky WAITT!!!! I'll just come to your house please!! I love history especially ancient history!!!

Ses Sounds very exciting, keep us updated please!!!

Diege Hope the DDs are very good for you today!!

GYo The graphs in the red books are based on formula fed babies so don't worry too much. After the problems with DS2, I have come to think that providing they are putting on weight then that should be enough. I like Sorky's idea and just let family have little cuddles.

LB I am with you on the sleep. DS1 slept through every night from 8 weeks. DS2 is still in his routine of a week of sleeping through and a week of waking up.

Hello everyone else!!

Diege · 16/04/2009 09:04

Hi SORKY, KAYZ!! Agree, I'll pop along for some history too SORKY - sounds fascinating! Will e-mail you with address details - thanks again - drugs and relaxation, exactly what I need Can compensate your postage with a large slice of Betty's cake
KAYZ, must be frustrating having ds 'teasing' you with sleeping through (and then not!) Let's hope we all have an easy time of it today! At the moment I have all 3 dds screaming their heads off (some game..) and the bleeding cockatiel screeching his head off too

Kayzr · 16/04/2009 09:11

Diege You are nearly at the top of the list!!!

sorkycakey · 16/04/2009 09:25

Drugs & Relaxation coming up!

Diege she started twisting at 8.30am, so I took her up to her room and got her in the sleepybag thing, closed the curtains and pottered about putting clothes away so she knew I was still there.
She moaned on and on, so I picked her up and put her over my shoulder whilst I put the boys' clothes away. I noticed she was falling asleep so put her back in her cot (8.50am) and she's there now.
How long does she sleep for?

Kayz is Ds2 working shifts and not told you? A week on, a week off hehe.

I'm letting them watch TimmyTime atm whilst I have a cuppa and MN for the last time this morning

This mornings books are:
'Atticus the Storyteller's 100 greek myths'
'Cleopatra: discover the world of cleopatra through the diary of her handmaiden Nefret'
'The Story of the World: History for the Classical Child' comes with an activity book after a chapter of the story has been read.

Followed by some handwriting practice if I can cajol (they both dislike writing)

Before lunch they will both read to me followed by an Usborne book this afternoon called 'See inside Pirate ships' when everyone is starting to get tired.

That's the plan anyway everyone is welcome round mine but you must bring cake!!

Diege · 16/04/2009 09:33

Right SORKY sounds like you have gf baby there...from memory it's up to bed at 8.45, think they get to sleep until 9.45 max, then up for 'awake time' , feed at 11am, then back to bed midday ish. That's bottle fed babies at least - must be hard fitting demand-feeding around that... Have sent you my address throguh FB - hope I have got the right person . Love the idea of the 'Classical child'...where can I get one of those??
Surely not KAYZ!! I cannot be anywhere near the top I am sure I have months and months to go!!
