OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 09:18

I have just put dd2 in her cot for a nap, she fussed a little but has gone to sleep herself. I simply cannot lug the girl around whilst she sleeps on my shoulder anymore, my back and shoulders are killing me!

I'm wondering whether to let her sleep until she wakes or wake her at 10am. What do you reckon Diege?

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 09:22

I might try a routine

4 kids needs some level of organisation I'm thinking.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/04/2009 09:25

CONGRATULATIONS GRUFF AND MR GRUFF!!!

[GRIN]

Kayzr · 15/04/2009 09:27

Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Gruff and Mr Gruff!!

Lovely name!!

Diege · 15/04/2009 09:33

Right you're asking the right woman about routines . I would always wake for a feed (however cruel that sounds)if she would usually be ready for one then. Do you mean 10am or 10pm? I have to say I followed GF quite to the letter with my bottle-fed babies, simply because I needed a routine myself -and they actually seemed to like it too! May try bf this time around as I did with dd1 and could foresee how that would be more difficult in early days. How old is dd2 now sorky?

Kayzr · 15/04/2009 09:35

I am considering relaction. I really miss BF and it is really tempting. Haven't spoken to DH as he will probably think I am mad!!!

Diege · 15/04/2009 09:36

Many congratulations to the GRUFF family Wow, bet that was a surprise - didn't the sonographer say a girl???
Gorgeous name too

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 09:44

YAY!!!! Congrats Gruff
I'm sure sonographer had said girl but I also remember Gruff having a smidgen of doubt.
Lovely news though

(Morning everyone else!)

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 15/04/2009 09:53

ahe was 12 weeks on mon wondered if a growth spurt

lastboxoftampons · 15/04/2009 09:54

Congratulations to the Gruff family!!!!!
I LOVE the name Zachary!!!!
But at Gruffette being a boy!!!!!!! I hope they hadn't bought too much pink stuff!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 09:56

This baby has definitely moved position during the night. May explain why I kept waking up!
Ac ouple of weeks ago when I saw the MW she said the head was engaged and the back going across my right side. I could definitely feel what felt like the bum poking out my right side.
Suddenly this morning I can't feel that and movements are much more central so I think baby is more vertical. Just hope it's still head down!

GYo - if you're texting Gruff, do pass on our congrats

Kay - I don't know anything about relactation. Would LLL or NCT be able to help?

Kayzr · 15/04/2009 10:01

I think LLL would be able to help. Might also see GP as they can perscribe(sp) medicine to increase milk supply. Just need to discuss it with DH.

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 10:10

Wow! I hope it'snot been too much of a shock

Congratulations on the birth of your BOY! Lovely name too.

Sounds like it may make for an interesting BS.

Diege I'm off to wake her now (10am). I'm still fully bf'ing obv. but need to structure sleep during the day. She roots but doesn't wake in the night. Her feeds are more on demand which has been fine until now, but I could do with structuring those a bit more. It'll help for when Steve looks after when I return to work 1/7. It's a while off yet but I might as well get everyone used to it, then it's not so much of a wrench iyswim.
Could you email me the 8 week old routine, she's 8 weeks old now. I used to have the book but gave it away when we AP'd ds2. That's not happening this time I can tell you.

Diege · 15/04/2009 10:12

Good luck KAYZ! I know it's possible, and with some good advice may well work
SES, could well be that baby SES is getting into launch position! Very exciting
TINKS, just thinking you could squeeze in another feed at 7pm, although if not keen on 11pm one might struggle. I would try eeking out feeds to 4 hourly intervals, as she may well take more than 3 ozs at each sitting. Really difficult to know though!
Hi LBOX! Yes, hope Gruff didn't get too much pink, although if slightly doubtful of sex may have held back!

Diege · 15/04/2009 10:14

No problem SORKY, although I will have to find it myself first! What's 'AP'd' refer to btw?

Moosy · 15/04/2009 10:23

Yay congrats on your BOY Gruff!! Can't wait for BS. Hope all is well with you all.

Good luck with the relactation Kayz, can you still get anything out at all if you try? If you can then I guess that's a good start?

Feeling a bit better this morning, haven't felt sick at all and ate my breakfast easily. Of course now I'm worrying that something's gone wrong.

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 10:31

AP is attachment parenting, thanks Diege.

Glad you're not sick Moosy, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about just a different way to be pg.

Kayz will he still suckle if you put him to the breast. I can check out what the 'bestfeeding' book says if you like, there's a section on there for relactating

Or I'm sure the LLL site has a section on it.

Diege · 15/04/2009 10:37

Ahh yes, attachment parenting!! Is that like the baby wearing thing?
MOOSY, it's perfectly normal for ms to come and go in early stages, as hormones are all-over the place! Or you might be lucky and miss it out this time - does happen!

Moosy · 15/04/2009 10:43

[bleurgh] aah, that's better

Here you go Kayz

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 15/04/2009 11:01

ye i do feed her @ 6:30pm - 7pm before 10:30pm feed.
still luv little tikes one think she would play with it more as it has sink and hobs
think it woul be brighter inside too.
getting that one and pink mamas and papas dolls pram

sorkycakey · 15/04/2009 11:21

Gah!
Diege I woke her just after 10am, fed & changed her, dressed her etc. Lay on her little mat to have a wriggle. She was fine for 1hour then she fell asleep! Managed to rouse her and have put her back in her cot to sleep.

will I let her sleep until 1.30pm then? or let her go until 2pm and carry on from there?

Diege · 15/04/2009 11:26

Hmm, this is what I found hard with the gf routine - keeping them awake when they 'should' be awake! I think from memory you're supposed to wake them a little earlier than the prescribed 2pm if they go off earlier, so I'd go with the 1.30pm. This must feel so far from the AP I'd imagine Will look for the Book tonight!

Diege · 15/04/2009 11:27

BTW SORKY did you read the post in the larger families section about 4 kids being the fashionable thing to do? Article they link to in Times is quite funny, although I felt tired just reading about life with 4 etc....What have we done

Kayzr · 15/04/2009 11:33

I have the Bestfeeding book. I completely forgot about it so I will read it and see what it suggests. Thanks for that link.

glaskham · 15/04/2009 11:44

Hello all- I've managed to get on the laptop again!!!

GRUFF!!!! wow- what a shock that must have been- i know you were told a girl because we'd said it was fab we were due a day apart and both girls!!

Nurses have just been to weigh Ruby, she's still only 4lb 13oz so am going to have to give her formula twice a day now!! Really heartbroken about it... Just hope it gives the result we want!!

dont know if Kay has said but i'm hoping to make it to the meet up in york next month.
