headabovewater · 03/04/2009 16:13

HC - yes, I'm fine thanks, just a bit random with my MN activity! Just a quick one as I am returning to my beanbag! . DD seems to be playing happily on her own (quite a rare event) and I am really tired today so making the most of it.

Glad you are feeling happier SSam - have a good weekend everyone.

DevilsAdvocaat · 03/04/2009 16:18

cor i wish i had a big pair of knockers my 34 c bust hasn't changed although have filled out loads which is nice! even when bfing ds my norks were only up to a 36d.

i have a double buggy as we walk up to our local supermarket to get milk and bread etc which is 30 mins each way. i could not do that with lo in a sling or ds on a buggy board. it's too far. however, i really do recommend getting a good sling as i used mine loads, especially around the house when ds was fussing. i have a kari-me which is a massive piece of material which can be used front (for a newbie) or back (for an older child). it was amazing but ds was born in june and it was just too hot to wear on some days. in fact, some days when really hot he'd go in it with just a vest on! it was excellent when we were on holiday (on the beach etc). i also had an old simple one like a baby bjorn but not as good. it was most uncomfortable but great for putting on quickly or when very hot. i found having both was handy. it's something i may invest in this time around as my sling was a present and the other was lent.

end of my first trimester today - hurrah. also dh goes finishes school for easter hols so can't wait to spend some time together. feel like i hardly see him anymore with going to bed so bloody early! hope the weather holds out...

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 03/04/2009 17:05

Hi Sammysam. I've seen the consultant and she's pretty much confirmed what we already knew. Increased risk of miscarriage - for 8 weeks after the virus - and possibility of fetal anemia when the baby is unable to make it's own red blood cells. If I was 20+ the baby could have a transfusion in the womb but, at only 13 weeks the baby is too small for any intervention and it's a nature will decide kind of thing.

BUT, her typed notes on my scan report for today do say that over 90% of babies are not affected.

The last paragraph of her report states "i have emphasised that today's scan findings are encouraging". On the handwritten notes she has also put 'Parvovirus positive but no evidence on scan today'.

From your other thread I saw the comments about IgM and IgG and I was 'detected' on both - so I guess they can tell whether it's a recent infection or not (lose one mark google search!!)

I'm happy to have seen the heartbeat again - baby was waving both arms above it's head and sonographer said what a happy baby it was !!

My bloods and nuchal combined all came back really good - 1:6434 for downs and 1:53291 for the other two tests.

Because of all the delays in blood tests etc I'm only 4 weeks away from being 8 weeks away from the virus. I'm sitting tight and, for now, so's this baby (no midnight minnie escapes for chocolate biscuits or anything )

BellaCullen · 03/04/2009 17:11

Hi
feel sick today too and completly exhausted as been going to bed late with my sister being here, she flew back now so will be going to bed around 8 tonight so looking forward to some sleep.

Still wearing underwired bra but will be definitely getting non underwired next week as my boobs are killing me,so hoping maternity ones will be better.Got some nice maternity tops from Pumpkin Patch a bit pricey but lovely only realised prices at home.Had my maternity trousers on today and they were still massive on me.Had some great ones from Dorothy Perkins but have no clue where I put them probably will find them after baby is born.

Regards comfortable sleeping I had a big U-shaped breastfeeding pillow from Mothercare to sleep which was great.Need to find that too.Got such a baby brain keep forgeting things constantly and sometimes forget midsentence what I was talking about.

Flamesparrow thanks for e-mailing back will look through info and am sure to ask more questions.Didn`t think about drying time as we have no tumble drier will need something that drys quick. So glad asked about it and its great that so many of our group use them.DD reacted very badly to disposables as she has eczema(sp?) and always had nappy rash.
x

theboob · 03/04/2009 18:05

ICBINB, really glad your little bean is ok and you had good news today x

I cant wear a under wired bra, they really hurt now and it just adds to it, have put a new bump photo on my profile, DS2 was doing the same as me , we got some cracking picture's of both our bellys

hope all is well with everyone ,really glad your feeling better about things today sammysam x will catch up more later

Flamesparrow · 03/04/2009 18:14

I hadn't heard of Hot Milk - I think I love you. Have just ordered a stunning bra

SassJ · 03/04/2009 19:03

Hey guys, thanks so much for the bra advice -DevilsAdvocaat you're hillarious, but you definitely don't want big knockers - very unsightly when they appear to double in size overnight (and apparently at different rates, I swear I veer to left when walking now). Anyhoo, I think I'm going to stick with wires until the midwife threatens to forcibly removes them.
Having some very wierd cravings - mostly fruit juice and anything citrus. Also just eaten an entire bag of Doritos (am thinking that's more likely to me being a greedy pig than a real craving.....)is it any wonder I have indigestion and the baby has hiccups? Managed to get my lovely husbabd to go out and get me Cadburys mini rolls last night on the 'craving' premise - does it make me a bad person?

SassJ · 03/04/2009 19:05

Jeez, is my dreadful spelling down to baby brain or can I blame the British education system?

theboob · 03/04/2009 19:06

forgot to say welcom SassJ

SassJ · 03/04/2009 19:10

Thank you theboob - just had a look at your profile, and that's a mighty impressive bump you have there. Very jealous. Can't wait until mine looks a bit more 'I'm pregnant actually' and a bit less 'too many Doritos'.

theboob · 03/04/2009 19:36

thankyou SassJ, with my first i never showed until around 20 weeks, now with my 4th there is now stoping it but the KFC does not help lol x

littlepea72 · 03/04/2009 19:54

I also had to stop wearing underwire bra's, as im now into an F cup. Found that the wire was digging into me & making me feel sick. Only problem now is, because my tummy is getting so big, my boobs sit on top of it! I look like a cross between a bubble & Fat Ba**d from Austin Powers! My first pregnancy my boobs only got upto a size D.....

LittleMissBliss · 03/04/2009 20:53

bOOB very shocked[bshocked] and jealous at your bump. I was sort of getting one and now nothing, nada, ziltch, well maybe a little ponch but no risk of anyone approaching me and asking me if i'm pregnant[sulk].

SassJ welcome!

Still in regular bras here. Went up to a 34E/F when breastfeeding! But now back to a 34B/C but much fuller now which is nice.

The minnie story made me chuckle too i can't wait for ds to start chattering away!

HC glad to hear that you are eatting peanuts too, with ds i avoided peanuts but this pregnancy i have just been eating them as normal, which isn't allot but not restricting myself. Its so confusing the advice re-peanuts.

Went to meet an old friend today who i haven't seen for arround 4 years, which was lovely to catch up. Did anyone see that programme last night on bbc1 'when Wollies became Wellies'? It was about the Woolworths turning into 'Wellworths' in Dorchester (where i used to live and went to school) The friend who i met today, her dad is the town cryer who was featured. My claim to fame!

Really tired today so off to bed soon. Ds is nearly better but keeps night waking and crying, which he never does. Hopefully things will be better next week.

hello to evryone else.

Hope the sickies feel better soon.

DevilsAdvocaat · 03/04/2009 21:25

sassj, i'm also craving fruit juice and citrus stuff. i found myself eating a lime recently!

am also eating peanut butter if i fancy it. i did with ds but we don't have any history of allergies in the family.

lixanismapolium · 04/04/2009 06:16

I'm with SassJ ..... started off with a G cup and wouldn't wish them on anyone! Not happy at the thought someone might make me give up my wires. Actually, think I held onto them all the way through last time around. MW said they would cut off the milk supply and prevent me from being able to BF - still managed to bf for almost 2 years - how long did she think I wanted to carry on for? That was long enouh in my book! Actually seriously considering getting them reduced after this baby as it's planned to be the last and they will therefore have completely lost any usefulness they may have had.

Flamesparrow · 04/04/2009 08:56

I am lucky that my cup size doesn't tend to increase bar those first few days when the milk comes in, I am just fuller iyswim

CalypsoFlame · 04/04/2009 09:25

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter I'm glad your scan and consultancy has such a positive outcome
SSam I hope this gives you courage, fingers crossed for your results soon X

hotMilk gorgeous

theBoob Nice bump!

SassJ {waves} welcome, I'm a few stops up the Northern line, so we're practically neighbours

LittleMissBliss · 04/04/2009 09:28

Think i spoke too soon poor ds was up all night with D&V. Poor boy, he's just getting over his chest and coughing, then this . So tired today.

Hope you all have a good day, looks like the suns out!

Oh no LMB

My sickness seems to be back with a vengeance today - no idea why, I have been taking my pills, not had too much dairy

I had it in my head that peanuts were ok again now, but can't remember why. I am eating anything I can stomach atm. I have lost weight again - which I am thinking will be positive after the baby, but is worrying me now. I know the baby is sucking out all the nutrients though .

Has anyone got mothercare maternity leggings? Every shop I go in that sells mat leggings are really really thin ones with very little lycra so they'll go all baggy on the bum within about 30 mins of wearing them. Don't want to go through the hassle of ordering the mc ones, paying postage, then finding out they are just the same! I even drove to Poole to see some in person, and they didn't bloody have any in

DevilsAdvocaat · 04/04/2009 10:54

no idea flame but i've spent the morning on the internet looking for maternity clothes and am a tad dissapointed.

i don't really wear trousers and there are a serious lack of skirts out there.

bum.

KKKKaty · 04/04/2009 11:24

From what I understand, the reason that midwives recommend that you stop wearing underwired bras is because a stupidly large proportion of women wear the wrong size bras. This means that the underwires can dig into your boobs and thereby cause damage, I believe. However, if you have been properly fitted so that the underwires sit where they're meant to be and don't dig in then there's no problem at all with wearing underwires throughout pregnancy. I went to Bravissimo a few days ago (love that shop) and was fitted again - up from a 32FF to a 34FF - eek - and bought two new underwired bras in a style that they recommended - one that copes well with being adjusted upwards using the shoulder straps and hooks so that I can hopefully wear them for a long time yet. HTH.

fidelma · 04/04/2009 11:56

Morning all.

Penuts are now meant to be safe to eat so enjoy.(think I will get some Kp salted today)

The boob just checked your profile also and am very impressed with your bump.I am also getting pretty big although I was hardly showing at this stage with my first.I am putting it down to number 4 also.(and the need to eat to stop the sickness)

Still wearing under wired bras and dont think I will stop.Gone up to a 34 DD I dont like it I feel huge. But my flat chested girlfriends always make me laugh about it.

This thread is moving so fast I can hardly keep up.

Welcome to all the newbies

My MS seems to have just about gone which is very early for me perhaps my body is finally getting used to being pregnant!!!

DH is now on holiday for 10 days.so extra help with the children.

Have a great day.
