Can see it now

My bump seems quite firm too, don't know how with all the crap I am eating now to help the nausea.

Oh dear, I am 14+2 and have a large squishy bump that I think is mostly just the crap I ate trying to keep the nausea away . I have already put on 4 lbs. I am now eating much more healthily (loads of fruit, yogurt and salads) but still constantly hungry and eating too much I'm sure. Hoping 10 days camping and walking in Cornwall this month will help keep the weight gain under control. Too happy to care at the moment, as long as the bean and I are healthy I'm not going to worry.

HumphreysCorner · 02/04/2009 11:10

I have put on over half a stone now. Still can't face salads and yoghurts and used to live on them when on the WW diet. Will be taking my next bump pic on Tuesday when I will be 15 weeks.

I have put on 3 of the 8lb I lost (sorry). Sickness that doesn't ease with eating has its pros

BellaCullen · 02/04/2009 11:49

Hi everyone can`t believe we got 3rd thread already.

sammysam sorry about your tyest results glad you went with your instinct and got the test done.

I love prams.Would love a Bugaboo sadly too expensive and already got a micralite toro, just need to get a carrycot for it.Had a Mamas and Papas Pramette with dd and that was great got it for £250 with carseat from Just Kidding website they were great service.Silvercross 3D is the same as Mamas and Papas but cheaper.

Were going to find out babys sex as DP is desperate to know. Can`t wait till 22 week scan.Does it seem a bit late to be having scan at 22 weeks?

Put my scan picture on profile, tried to do bump picture but didn`t seem to manage to take it.

Has anyone got experience using cloth nappies?Would like to try them this time can anyone recommend some.14 weeks tomorrow.

have a great day,its lovely here today take your coat of and sunbathe weather

dogstar · 02/04/2009 12:42

sammysam - this is such a terribly worrying time for you - is there nothing mw can do to reassure you? I think a doppler is quite a good idea if it will help ease some of your anxiety, though I agree with whoever said not to overdo it (I read up some old threads on here about it the other day).

Re: bump - my tum is so big and squashy I have decided to tell people I am more pregnant than actually am if asked .

HappyTangerine · 02/04/2009 12:58

LittleMissBliss - thanks. Rang mw yesterday, she doesn't think its a bug at all but reassured me that the retching/vomiting was not harming the baby. She thinks I may just be one of those "lucky" ladies that could have ms until quite late in the pg.

SammySam - please don't wait until after the weekend to ask more questions, it will be th longest weekend of your life. You have a right to the information, kick up a fuss. My mw keeps banging on about how stress in pg is bad and this is such a worrying time for you that they should be doing everything they can. Sending you a massive hug btw x

littlepea72 · 02/04/2009 13:08

Sammysam....this is such a stressful time for you, no-one should have to feel like that, we are here to listen, so keep going! Will they do extra scans for you? It sounds like you have been left hanging in the dark, didnt anyone put you in touch with someone who knows the score on this? Big big hugs xx

headabovewater · 02/04/2009 13:55

Hello, can I join you all please?! Have been lurking for a while but due on 1 Oct with #2 and had my scan earlier this week.

Just wanted to say, Sammysam, that I think a lot of women get exposed to this virus in pregnancy and don't even know. I was training, sitting in with a GP, during my last pregnancy and was asked to examine a lady with parvo virus who had come in to see whether it was ok to mix with pregnant women whilst she had it. The GP reassured her that it was fine which sounded a bit suspect even to me....I then looked it up and went off to my own GP to get tested as I thought I might have caught it - had some viral symptoms etc. It came back positive saying I had antibodies and I was again 'reassured' that this was probably a previous infection. I didn't really worry about it and dd was born absolutely fine.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I possibly had been infected but didn't question the rather suspect advice I was given and therefore was able to relax.

It is impossible not to worry during pregnancy - I am now worrying about something completely different that also causes mc/pre-term labour - but the odds are vastly in your favour. Cramps are completely normal, but I understand that once you have a reason to worry everything seems worse.

Sorry for such a long initial post! I promise to be less long-winded from hereon...

patmum · 02/04/2009 13:58

bellacullen I'm a great fan of reusable nappies. Wish we could still have them.

We used Motherease sandy's with airflow wraps until just before ds turned two. Unfortunately, I have a child who drinks copious amounts of water and he ended up needing more capacity. We were using 3 sets of clothes per day (on the days he was in nursery) towards the end of using them! So now he's on disposables which is a shame because I hear it's easier to potty train with them.

Lots of people like the pocket type nappies but they just didn't work on ds I guess he was the wrong shape, the two part ones were best for us.

At night we used additional hemp inserts that gave us the extra capacity but was a little bulky for during the day.

CalypsoFlame · 02/04/2009 13:58

sammysam I'm so sorry that you've become so stressed and anxious, I wish we could all make you feel better!

Regarding the doppler - I've had one for 4 weeks now (I'm 14+2) and I can't hear a thing on it except my own pulse, so be aware that having a doppler may not give you the reassurance you hope (makes me twitchy so I hardly ever get it out, hate the disappointment and worry that I can't hear anything yet again...). Of course perhaps it'll work wonderfully on you!

Speaking to your MW sounds like the best solution, or even NHS direct if you're not happy with the MW.

Hope you feel calmer soon
x

Flamesparrow · 02/04/2009 14:07

bounces up and down at the mention of cloth Love it, advise on it, sell it...

lixanismapolium · 02/04/2009 14:35

bellacullen - we half used cloth nappies with DD1. We used them whenever we were at home, but switched to disposables when we went out - I just couldn't bear having to carry around dirty nappies when we weren't at home, must easier to just have a dirty disposable that you can throw away. Will pobably do the same this time. Our next scan is also at 22 weeks ..... seems such a long way off. We are definitely going to find out the sex.

sammysam · 02/04/2009 14:45

Thank you everyone for being so kind. I feel very bad that it is not just me but icantbelieveitsnotbitter in the same situations as me as well and i'm the one doing all the moaning
I feel a bit better after a morning of crying and also looking up some more positive info. Welcome headabovewater and thank youit is good to hear peoples experiences (especially if good) I can't get over the fact that so many GPs have no clue about the dangers in early pg-It is crazy-makes me very
I have decided to try and forget about it for at least the weekend and hopefully til I get the rest of the blood results back. We have a very busy weekend with our friends wedding so that should make it easier.

We have used cloth with dd since she was 2months-and have loved it. I must admit we haven't used them much over the last 3months as my morning sickness wasn't helped by the smell and the fact that (sory if TMI) dd's poos have never been very solid so clearing up is never the quickest easiest job
I'm getting to the point where I could just about cope with them again but we are going to attempt potty training next week as I'd like there to be a while where she is trained before the baby (hopefully) arrives which will hopefully mean no/less regression

We have found any wrap other that motherease ones to be rubbish which is a shame as some of them are so nice and have mainly used wambamboos (don't think they are called that anymore-we ordered a couple of the new versions and they weren't as good on dd) They have been fantastic. Also a few months ago we got a couple of flexitots and I'd love a whole set-they work really well on dd!
I would definately say get cloth-it is great!! It has saved us money and when you see how much of your bin is filled with nappies at the end of a week you will be very

I'd love a new pram but we didn't really ever use the one we had for dd (a quinny buzz) and I have thought it was the biggest waste of money-so couldn't really justify it!!! We used several slings/carriers and loved them for so many reasons-especially not getting held up/stuck in town. So think this time i'll treat myself to a nice new sling or wrap......can't wait to get researching

I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine! Really should go to the pet shop as promised with dd since we missed our toddler group this morning....poor dd!

Flamesparrow · 02/04/2009 14:58

I acrually dreamt about nappies earlier

hackneybird · 02/04/2009 15:21

at reading your posts about prams and nappies. I have just realised that we are going to have to make lots of decisions and choices. Eeek. As a first time this is all very overwhelming. x

Flamesparrow · 02/04/2009 16:11

It all sort of falls together tbh.

BellaCullen · 02/04/2009 16:54

Thanks for all the advice on cloth nappies really want to use them.So glad there seems to be so many who have used them.
There just seem so many makes and types. Is it better to go for ones with different sizes depending on their weight or ones that fit from newborn to 3 years.Looked at some makes at the Baby Show and just confused me completely.
Flamesparrow where do you sell them?Online or in a shop?Tells us about the good, the bad and the ugly I know you want to

patmum · 02/04/2009 17:47

bellacullen I bought all mine from babykind website they've always been really helpful.

We used a mixture of both the sandy's which are sized and the "one-size" They both work pretty well but it was nice to have some smaller ones of the sandy's for when he was little as the "one-size" did rather swamp the newborn bottom. They all look so enormous when the baby was tiny but then as he grew they were proportionally smaller.

I made myself write that bit first because I am so excited.

I'm REALLY sorry I've been a pain and a moaning whinger for the last few days. I got so hung up on my numbers.

My midwife just rang (a whole week earlier than I was expecting her too!!!) and....

My pre screening number was 1:221 and my post screening number is 1:4428.

Totally gob-smacked. Yes I know that I could be "the one" but it's so much better than I thought it would be. So we're not going for the amnio after all.

Once again, sorry for being a pain when there're so many people who have concerns that are tangible and mine are all in my head. Thanks to everyone for sharing their numbers and stuff with me. Much appreciated.

I'll post my scan picture now (well later on sometime!). All of a sudden it seems real!

Flamesparrow · 02/04/2009 17:51

www.bumfluffnappies.com - I can get anything babykind can btw, and will sort out an october discount later.

If you want to email me bumfluffnappies at gmail dot com I can give you a full nappy thing to explain the different types and talk you through what best suits you (tis easier via email)

LittleMissBliss · 02/04/2009 18:05

Idreamofbeanie I have the quinny buzz travel system which i loved. But it does have pros and cons.

Pros-
0 attractive looking pram/pushchair as prams go!
0 lovely carry cot attachment.
0 you can attach a maxi cosi car seat, so don't have to disturb a sleeping baby
0 rear and forward facing, i had it rear facing untill about 8/9 months and used to chat to ds allot.
0 easy to steer, take corners and you can lock front wheels if you prefer.
0 great for off roading
0 easy and quick to put up, you can kick it up, put down (you can't kick it down).

Cons-
0 Can't use on a beach because of hydrolics
(sp) all the sand gets into the mechanics.
0 I have to take the back wheels off to get it into the boot of my small car (Clio). It is easy to take off the wheels, just extra fuss.
0 Bit of a pain in small or overstocked shops as its quite wide.
0 not light weight, say if you have to carry it up stairs.
0 you can't hang bags off the handles and the basket attachment is quite small.
0 It is quite bulky to store so i leave mine in the car.

It is a really nice buggy and i have learnt to live with the flaws, we also have a silvercross stroller which is really light weight but a bugger to steer in comparison. I would buy the Quinny again but think that there are cheaper travel systems/buggys that have allot if not all of the pros of the Quinny, and fewer cons that come with the Quinny. A friend of mine has got the mothercare hommage to the Quinny Buzz which she is happy with.

We are also getting a tandem with ds only being 23 months when new bub arrives. I don't like the phil and teds because the baby is so close to the ground and has little to no view. I think i'll get smomething allong the lines of this, But i know loads of mums love their P&T, so its all matter of opinion!

Sammysam So sorry you are so worried. I hope you get some more info soon.

OP posts:
fidelma · 02/04/2009 18:06

love the chat today.Baby seems so far away hadnt given any of this much thought.I do have all the gear though although my friend gave my crib away so will need something to start off with.

I am so impressed with the cloth nappy chat.I used motherease nappies and found them to be very good. However I strongly recommend that you wait a few weeks until you get over the birth etc.

I am feeling better today although the 2 young ones are ill and I am looking after them.It feels like the house of sickness.

Enjoy the sun

Ps I always use the sling to carry baby around. Then I have a 3 wheeler as we live in the country and a small fold up maclaren for shopping !!!sorry that sounds like alot of gear.Make sure that you can collapse the buggy with one hand.

HumphreysCorner · 02/04/2009 18:24

Hello, welcome and congrats headabovewater and don't worry as we love a good gossip chat on here.

patmum-those are good results.

HappyTangerine-are you still very sick? Poor you.

Oh, am I the only Pampers disposable nappy user? Also never used a sling in my life. So behind the times.
