Thanks to Nutty for all the thread suggestions including this one. I hope no one minds but I picked this one in honour of the brilliant race commentary we had from Nuts and Frekkles the other night. Hopefully we will get some more.

BabyBolat · 17/03/2009 15:29

boff you are eeeeeeeevil!!

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 15:29

I should call if BoffBeef stew really, shouldn't I?

It has mild onions, butternut squash, carrots, tomato puree, red wine, beef stock, S and P, garlic, 3 cloves (magic ingedient), and 1 lb of stewing steak. Might put some thyme in it if I can be fagged going out to the garden.

mumblemumhome4lunch · 17/03/2009 15:29

I've had a bloody show this morning

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 15:30

I did.

I am last and proud.

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 15:30

Yippeee Mumble!

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 15:32

Glad doctors was okay BB. I daresay GPs are less experienced at hunting out foetal heartbeats and so on, whereas MW does it a zillion times a day. My MW has a quick prod and then goes straight in for the right spot with the doppler! Deeply engaged sounds promising - the measurements used here are the same I think - they record the palpable fifths so the smaller the better! Did he do your BP after spending ages for the heartbeat? Possibly just the old white coat effect!

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 15:33

Juwes, we found a slight coding flaw that lets us bypass the rules. I worked it out when I was competing against Springy a few threads back. If you think about it you will be able to work out what to do as well.

mumblemumhome4lunch · 17/03/2009 15:35

Just a flying post....I hear small feet coming up the stairs !

Really excited although I know you can get a show weeks before anything else happens but I've not had a show of any sort before so very exciting.

Rang DH as work to let him know - now maybe he'll actually start handing over some of his deadlines due in the next month as I know he hasn't actually done so up til now.

gotta go before DD starts posting !!!

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 15:35

Think about it? Goodness, you overestimate me.

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 16:07

I think, therefore I am a Mumsnetter.

Is there some kind of regulation which states that this server must go down at least once a day?

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 16:08

Boff, I've been wondering about slow cookers - I've never even heard of them before MN, but everyone seems to rave about them. What are they exactly?!

I just prepared some chicken en croutes for dinner tonight. I don't really like cooking real chicken after my many years as a veggie because I'm always convinced that I'll give people food poisoning. I'm hoping to have avoided that...

I also just sat & ate an entire cucumber Pregnancy is so very strange.

& Boff - you underestimate me

bronze · 17/03/2009 16:11

oooh better check my phone is charged and that I check it regularly

If I'm going to be the last to pop I want to be one of the first to impart good news.

Ju- thats yur problem Pooh was abear of very little brain. You need owl or Rabbit

"Owl," said Rabit shortly, "you and I have brains. The others have fluff. If there is any thinking to be done in this Forest - and when I say thinking I mean thinking - you and I must do it."

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 16:12

mumblemum - YAY for the show!

BB - equally YAY for the 'deeply engaged'!

It's almost as exciting watching everyone else edging close to the finish line as doing it myself. It's good that I can live vicariously.

bronze · 17/03/2009 16:14

Can I put in a request that you all carry on posting after you've had yours or again I'll be sitting on an empty thread

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 16:16

Well Boff is clearly Owl, and Springy has to be rabbit! It all makes sense!!

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 16:16

I don't know why I should tell you about slow cookers if you insist on defying your elders and betters by finishing the other thread.

With a slow cooker you basically bung in stew or chilli ingredients, or indeed anything else that requires a sauce, and leave it for six hours or so to cook while you are out at work. You come home to a house smelling of delicious food ready to eat there and then. They are also useful for keeping food hot at parties, and making rice pudding and things like that.

When I am au pairless and have the boys in after school clubs I get this all ready before I leave in the morning, and then dish it up when we all get in at 6, which works really well.

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 16:16

I definitely have fluff.

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 16:18

I think I'm more of an Eyore at the moment, actually.

bronze · 17/03/2009 16:18

If it makes you feel better Ju I think I'm eeyore

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 16:18

Also, re: slow cookers, whole chickens apparently! Without adding fluid! I had heard of this, but didn't believe it until I saw that other thread recently.

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 16:18

Or Marvin the Paranoid Android. Brain the size of a planet, and the diodes hurting all down my left hand side.

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 16:19

Oh no! Two eeyores.

Perhaps we will build you a house, at Pooh Corner, that you can share.

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 16:21

"Your plastic pal who's fun to be with"?!!

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 16:22

Will it be a house porn commune?
