Thanks to Nutty for all the thread suggestions including this one. I hope no one minds but I picked this one in honour of the brilliant race commentary we had from Nuts and Frekkles the other night. Hopefully we will get some more.

OP posts:

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 13:46

Ah, damn it. these

LuLuBai · 17/03/2009 13:48

Ok - you lot are making me laugh myself silly but I must leave the house now. I have done all the ironing I can do and washed all the clothes, blankets, towels, rugs etc and officially run out of laundry and cleaning products, so going to do a supermarket run.

If that cat dares to welcome me home with one of his special gifts I'll pack him off to the RSPCA .

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 17/03/2009 13:56

LuLu - enjoy the supermarket chaos see you later!

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 14:12

Nutty, I put about a third or a half of one of those little pots or Bicarb you buy for baking cakes into quite a deep bath.

BB, I have now followed your suggestion and phoned up the manufacturers of our pram for replacement cushions, we they seem to get more and more yellow the more I wash them. Even though it is 11 years old, they still make replacement liners for it, and for a grand total of £38 for the mattress, liner and special car safety cushion they will be sending it out tomorrow and I might have it by the end of the week. I was really very impressed with their customer service (it's Mamas and Papas by the way). I am pleased because we have really looked after the pram and otherwise it is in perfect nick.

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 14:14

Also Nutty I got a bit of an itchy fanjo when wearing my new maternity jeans so I switched to jersey leggings for a bit and it got better.

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 14:16

Dunelm Mill is good too for linens

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 14:20

My shower curtain is currently in the washing machine. This is a whole new level of domesticity for me. [prouder than I should be]

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 14:21

I am about to blow up the birth pool.

This is not a euphamism, by the way. And I am not about to give birth - it's a test run.

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 14:22

Why are there so many kinds of pillowcases?

I need a Victorian mother figure to come & sort me out, I think. My upbringing has clearly been inadequate...

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 14:27

All I have discovered about pillowcases is that an Oxford pillowcase has an extra flappy bit of fabric around the edge.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/03/2009 14:32

how come some people can still post on a thread an HOUR after it tells ME there's no more room! NOT FAIR.

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 14:35

I don't understand it either Purple. I wonder if they have some kind of administrator rights? Either that or they're doing someone at MN Towers!

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 14:35

purple, I wish you could finish it - I hate to think that Puzzle will get another notch on her threadpost

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/03/2009 14:38

surely I have MN seniority? time for an email to MNHQ i think...

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 14:56

Haha, life just isn't fair

I've just realised something - I'm nesting! I'm actually nesting. I'm tidying & cleaning & washing & about to cook - because I want to. This is unknown territory for me

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 17/03/2009 14:57

Thanks Boffin oohh have fun with the pool

at notches on threadposts

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 17/03/2009 14:58

Go Springy Go Springy!!!

am going to have a nap methinks, so tired lately Booooo just as it gets sunny too. hey ho

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 15:02

I didn't think I'd actually get the nesting instinct I'm not making much progress because I'm fat & slow, but there is some progress & I'm taking it as an indication that things are still moving along as they should in terms of hormones & stuff. Yay

Have a nice nap, Nutty

Juwesm · 17/03/2009 15:08

Wahey for the nesting Springy! I too don't believe I'll get nesting instinct - I'm just not very nesty. I've been cooking, but that is normal for me, and I've been cleaning, but only because I've been making an extra-huge effort not to be an awful slattern. Isn't full-on nesting a quite-close-to-the-end thing? Maybe you'll pip the favourites at the post yet!

SpringySunshine · 17/03/2009 15:18

I don't think it can be last-minute nesting because I'm totally ignoring the baby things

I'm just doing lots of other stuff instead. I have a strange mentality that I have the Moses basket set up (& laundered with non-bio, etc) & that'll pretty much do for now. Although I am about to wash some babygrows & muslin squares as soon as the current load finishes. But yeah, I'm really not going crazy with the actual baby stuff because it doesn't feel relevant yet

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 15:22

Well, I have given up with the pool because it is big and I am knackered just getting it out of the bag. I think I will put the hoover into reverse and puff air into that way. Or rather get DH to.

I have also realised I need a hose pipe and tap connector so will send off the AP on a mission to the garden centre for these.

I am feeling reasonably domesticated though as I have got a beef stew on in the slow cooker - I asked AP to do this at lunchtime ready for supper this evening, and she has just realised you need to do this ahead of the time you actually plan to eat it. But tbh it was nice to have a bit of a fiddle around in the kitchen and make something.

BabyBolat · 17/03/2009 15:24

Hello - no don't all leave now I am back from the drs and finished most of my work for today!!! grrr!!

Ok so doctors was fine-ish

Rash is hormonal it will go away when it is ready (helpful!)

The reason for my pelvic pain is because the head is 'deeply engaged' he can't actually feel any of the head but has but wouldn't be confident enough to say I was fully engaged so written on my notes 2/5 (we do ours backwards to Boff's mw so essentially 3/5 is engaged) which confused me slightly - well he wrote 2/5 or less so that is a good sign. He also said should be fully there in a couple of days all being well (in terms of engagement)

Took AGES to hear the heartbeat tho' which freaked me out no end and my b/p has rocketed (did this before the lack of hb so no effect on that) so I have a home visit from my MW tomorrow to check it out again. No protein or anything so should be fine!

yay for nesting springy - I am not nesting, but then I am a bit of a clean and tidy person and tend to tidy up / clean around most days if even for a little while and I also love to cook / bake so again not really sure what my nesting will entail!

BabyBolat · 17/03/2009 15:26

oooh Boff stew... yum yum

BoffinMum · 17/03/2009 15:27

Springy and Puzzle, a message to you.

I believe the expression is 'na na na na na'.

You will know why.

BabyBolat · 17/03/2009 15:27

I say I love too - I don't actually do it all that much even when I have the urge!!!
