Thanks to Nutty for all the thread suggestions including this one. I hope no one minds but I picked this one in honour of the brilliant race commentary we had from Nuts and Frekkles the other night. Hopefully we will get some more.

Evening All,

It seems that I have missed an entire thread due to DD's chickenpox. I am knackered from getting up so much at night. Oh, and I have been reminded of the selective night time deafness that DH suffers from. I am going to castrate him if he tells me one more time how tired he is (after no interruptions to his sleep except once to tell me that DD was crying ). Those of you who already have children will know exactly what I'm talking about and will understand why part of me is dreading this baby being born!

LuLu, I haven't technically been on strike, but merely because I was on sick leave due to my knee, then there were 2 wks holiday and now I'm on maternity leave. But were I not on ML, I'd have been on strike for 7 wks now, as I am so utterly opposed to the planned reforms of education and to the way they are being implemented.
Half my colleagues are still on strike, the other half have gone back to work, fed up with the lack of response from the government and worried about what will happen to the university year. It is grim. I have resigned from all my (unpaid and very time-consuming) administrative functions, so am unsure what will happen about those once I return to work.
The lecturers' strike is kind of separate from the general one-day strikes, as it has been going on for so long.

Want to see my workplace, anyone? This is the delightful state of what is considered one of France's better Arts faculties...

Bronze - That's a shame about DS. I hope it passes quickly. It's crap when you feel like you're taking one step forward and then two back. You have my sympathies.
And I hope DH makes it up to you on Sunday. Give him what for tomorrow.

Clairey - Fingers crossed for you. A girlfriend of mine successfully employed some of the methods WFH suggested within a similar time frame. Take care sweetheart.

Purple - I'll be keeping them crossed for you too.
And poor DS, I would have lost it at the useless bloody HV. I hope he is better now?
Have a fantastic time tomorrow.
