hi ladies

Got a postive test last thursday, (and one everyday since ) after 4 long years of trying .
anybody else due in november?

Statutory Maternity Pay is paid at 90% of average earnings for the first 6 weeks and the lesser of £117.18 per week or 90% of average earnings for the remaining 20/33 weeks

Got this off the web, I know mine usually works out at full pay for 3 months then £117.18 per week for rest of 9 months (though my employers still continue taking my pension, union payments etc so doesn't amount to much really, but better than nothing!)

ok have looked our policy up:

I get
8 weeks full pay
18 weeks half pay + SMP (so long as total is not more than normal salary) providing I return to work for 3 months after maternity leave
13 weeks SMP
remaining unpaid - but allowed up to 52 weeks off in total.

Is that good?

Scarlotti - maybe we should write where we are from on the list? Just a rough idea - so people can see?

Morning all.....just struggling with fierce attack of easily forgotton mornig/all day sickness, housework and sick dd4, at least it's sunny today so the washing is on the line (we haven't got a drier!)
Thanks for the welcomes, nice to know I'm not alone on #5 Easyeggs....have you told anyone outside of family yet? I'm dreading the reactions actually! My dds are 8,6,5 and 18 months.....all I'm going to get is 'hope it's a boy!' which I can't stand as I want a healthy baby and not bothered if it's a girl or a boy, sorry rant over!

mrsdis Haven't told any family yet!! It's their reactions that I'm not looking forward too. But it has nothing to do with them so tough I have 3 ds and 1 dd. They are 7, 5, 20m and 6m I am definately going to have my hands full! I'm sure I'll get the same with all the "oh I bet you want another girl?" Ermmm nope, as you say, a healthy happy baby will suit me no matter what colour

I am quite lucky as far as MS goes so far, pretty much nothing. The only symptom I have is needing to wee all the time! I'd like a little ms so I at least feel pregnant. I'm sure I will regret saying that in a couple of weeks though.

I cannot believe how time is taking this long to go by.... I am still not even 5 weeks!! The curse of the early test... Still feeling quite rough, am hoping that is a good sign, but we will see.

iggypiggy that looks a similar maternity package to mine. Think they are all fairly similar, although have heard of someone who gets 1 whole year on FULL PAY!! I would be popping one out a eyar if that was me!!

Hi All and welcome all newbies.

Had a hard few days, my son has had tonsillitis

I have been picking my brain and driving myself mad with my dates as when I had my scan on monday they said that I am only 5 weeks pregnant. I have now relised that the Dr works it out from your LMP so technically I am only 5 weeks but in material terms I should remain 7 weeks. Pregnancy is already driving me mad!! when I was pregnant with my ds I walked out of a shop without paying and it was VERY embarissing going back to explain, especially as I was only 10 weeks pregnant and not showing!

also very of your maternity "rewards" as i am on the basic 90% for 6 weeks and then only the SMP

and so dit you easyeggs oh well

I am now thinking of going private for 10 week scan just before i go on holiday and later on i will be finding out the sex (I am terrible with secrets it would drive me nuts!). I did know with ds and it made life easier (we did have one girl name as back up just in case the doctors got it wrong!)

Koumak I'm going to be getting a private scan at 8wks, if all going well still, as I just need the confirmation things are ok. Will be finding out sex as well, it's just too tempting and if they can tell you then why not?! I didn't with eldest 2 ds but did with dd and ds3. I can't wait

i cant really hide it much longer my bump is definitely there now and gets bigger and bigger with the meals....

Yayyy I'm sure it feels like quite a relief to be 8wks. I can't wait. I'm only 5+1 today. It's going so slowly but I did find out before 4 wks so that's probably why!

Luckily I don't work so don't have all the stress of telling boss etc but I can imagine
how apprehensive you must be. You just never know how they are going to take it. Hope all goes well when you do spill

Hi all,

Just thought i'd pop in to say hi. Sorry to hear of people's stresses and very pleased to hear of the positive scan results. Talking of scans have used the fetal medicine centre twice. Seem to remember (it was almost 8yrs ago) that the first time we were too early for the nuchal scan so had to go back but were only charged once.

Hope ms etc not too bad for all. Am off food at the moment, as I went from 9 stone to almost 14 with first pregnancy, not necessarily a bad thing! Am also waking up at 6.30 which is great as am normally rubbish in the mornings!

Am still leaving my edd as ?? as very sceptical about the one I've been given.

roumac wish I was off food. I've just eaten a whole pack of chipstick type crisps - after having polished off all my lunch I'm constantly starving and it's driving me crazy.

think our maternity pay is set out the same as yours but they just simplify it by making it 3months at full (or 90%) then rest at smp to 9 months, then unpaid to a year.

Just a tip.. Anyone suffering from ms, well apparently green apples can help the nausea. I have been craving them the last 2 weeks but couldn't face eating them (along with any food!) I also had cravings for apples when pg with ds. I have been managing to eat a few the last couple of days and my ms is almost gone. Might just be a coincidence

I can't keep up with everyone!! Doesn't help that I am totally shattered today! Couldn't sleep half the night and then got woken up far too early by dd and can't rest during the day! MS started properly today! Well last night really but this morning I woke up feeling rough as dogs! Not too bad if I eat often but with MS coming, my appitite has disappeared! Anyway, thought I'd update the list while I have 2 seconds free!
