leannabananana - I changed my MATB1 form when I was expecting DS1! (shhh! Dont tell!) he was due 3rd June - but I would have missed out on maternity pay, so I changed it to 30 june! I had to have 2 diff numbers in my diary - one saying actual number of weeks and one saying "official" number of weeks.

katster37 · 31/03/2009 17:48

Thanks pavlov, koumak and leanna that's really helpful. I think I will tell my boss as I really shouldn't leave the classroom in lesson times and she is going to catch me I fear! Plus, you're right and tomorrow we have been told we have to go to this social thing that I really could do without if I feel anything like I do tonight, so could get me some leeway.
iggypiggy and cupoftea how are you feeling now?

pavlovthepregnantcat · 31/03/2009 18:47

katster - also, you probably move around tables etc? When my bf was pg she got her class to move her stuff around for her, but they were post 16! You need to make sure your stuff is moved around for you if you need it...so if they know, you can -boss-- the caretaker around ask for more help

cupofteaplease · 31/03/2009 18:59

Hi Katster- I'm feeling a lot more positive now, thans for asking. After all, baby is in right place, and heartbeat was strong, so it's all looking good. I gether you are a teacher- which KS do you teach?

I am currently doing my PGCE in a year 3/4 class and don't know when to tell my mentor or uni. Like you, I was just about to teach a lesson, when I had the need to leave the class pretty pronto- not a good look as a student teacher!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 31/03/2009 19:35

Hi everyone!

I do sympathise with the teachers amongst you. It must be very hard to keep cheerful and lively when you feel really sick. My bf is a teacher and when she was 7 weeks she had to be signed off as she was constantly disappearing to the loo. She suffered MS quite badly though. She had no choice but to tell her boss.

I'm suffering from the stinkiest of stinky colds right now and am feeling overworked. DH has just come home and is bathing the DSs. He seems quite tired too so I feel a bit bad for leaving it all to him. Not that bad, mind!

barnowl sorry you have all been ill. Stomach bugs are the worst thing ever. Let's hope that now spring is here we have healthy months to come

roomac · 31/03/2009 19:47

Hi all,

Have been lurking but not posted for a while. Have a scan tomorrow - will be 7wks - so keep your fingers crossed for me. As our DSs have finished school they are having to come too. They will wait outside with DH and come in if all is well.

Also have a stinking cold and feel generally rundown, and am also a teacher! Perhaps there's a connection! Have told the school who are very supportive.

Best wishes to everyone else who is suffering or having scan-related angst.

helips · 31/03/2009 19:57

Evening all!

iggypiggy and cupofteaplease sorry to hear your scans weren't as positive as you'd liked but keeping everything crossed that your little beans have a sudden growth spurt by your next scans and prove the doctors wrong. It's not over yet and easier said than done but try and think of the positives, heartbeat there and all that. cupoftea is it possible you could have got your dates wrong? I know you said you were sure of the dates that you and partner did the deed but sperm can last for 5 days so it's possible you conceived later than you think.

roomac good luck with your scan tomorrow!

scarlotti how did it go?

Hope everyone else is ok, I'm off to eat a large bowl of pasta, yum yum!

raggie · 31/03/2009 20:00

Hello all. Sorry ot hear your news ((iggypiggy)) I am thinking of you. Please let us know how you're doing/when you get more news.

Katster I am a teacher too and keep having to leave my class to go wee in lesson times, despite having gone at play and lunch! Must be all the water I'm drinking - I never drink enough normally so trying to make up for it now!

I have been wondering when to tell school about baby but think I want to leave it a bit, at least until I've been to the Docs. I'm only 5+3 and have an appt next monday during easter hols so perhaps once we come back from them. Don't want to tell them before nearest and dearest!

Just bookmarking...this thread moves so quickly!!

Leannabanana · 31/03/2009 21:48

thanks for sharing that pedalmonster - that makes me feel better about doing it myself....need to see what the scan says but hopefully i will be able to add about 20 days to my date.....it makes a huge difference to us financially....i am having the worst craving for meat.....rare steak to be precise or chicken with nice oxo basted crispy skin...mmmmm....so frustrating tho as i am a vegetarian and havent eaten meat for four years.....bugger

NewhereHelp · 31/03/2009 22:11

Hi all, sorry not posted - please remove me from the list I've just come out of hospital my pregnancy was eptopic and I had an operation to remove it yesterday. The good news is they managed to save the tube so I still have a chance of getting pregnany again.

Very very sad, good luck to all xx

PootleTheFlump · 31/03/2009 22:35

Hi Newhere, I'm so sorry to hear your news Take as much time as you need to recover, let others take really good care of you, thinking of you.

I had an ectopic last year and found the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and the Miscarriage Association really helpful at different times, plus of course the MN boards.

x

LissyGlitter · 31/03/2009 23:46

I'm already looking and feeling really pregnant! It doesn't help that I've had to dig out my old dresses from last time as I can't stand a waistband digging into me! Really need to get around to getting that wee pot to give my gp the sample. Today my sister came round and I just let her play with dd while I sat back and had a little rest

helips · 01/04/2009 07:37

So sorry newherehelp hope you are ok and good luck for the future.

turtle23 · 01/04/2009 08:10

So sorry newherehelp...xx

iggypiggy · 01/04/2009 08:41

So sorry newherehelp xx

Not much update from me - but symptoms keep disappearing - I no longer needed to get up early to go too loo - am back to normal on that score - to be honest I just know that something is very wrong.

Have been v. tearful - hormones etc. But Dh and I are pretty sure that this one isn't going to make it. Will let you all know tho. Also have moved scan to 7th April - Just cos even one day less wait is better.

xx

katster37 · 01/04/2009 09:02

Hi all,
NewHereHelp I am so sorry to hear your news. But as you say, it is really positive that they saved a tube. A friend at work had an ectopic last January, and her gorgeous son was born in November - she conceived straight away.

pavlov I hadn't thought about moving tables - you're right, I do tend to end up carrying chairs, random bits of furntiure/pushing huge TVs around Oh no - hope I haven't done any damage so far. I get the 'big strong boys' in my class to do some bits (they are 7 but love helping!).

cupoftea I started teaching in a mixed 3/4 class but now I teach in KS1 (year 2 the past 2 years). Whereabouts are you training? I remember the PGCE year - it's quite exhausting at the best of times - you must feel knackered at the minute! Raggie what age group do you teach? I too was hoping to hold off telling them until after Easter but the fact that I had to come straight home today after puking in the foyer ( ) may have given away some clues. It was so so embarrassing. Head was lovely and sent me straight home which was to be honest a huge relief as i have had no sleep and feel like sh*t.

Sorry for ridiculously long post. I hope you're all OK.

BeckyBendyLegs · 01/04/2009 09:23

My symptoms seem to be getting better I am seven weeks today. Perhaps my cold is masking my symptoms but I'm not optimistic. I've had two MCs in the past.

Newherehelp I am so sorry to hear what you've been through. Take good care of yourself xxxx

pavlovthepregnantcat · 01/04/2009 09:25

Newherehelp - I am so sorry for your news. I hope you recover well, and phew that they could save the tube. I wish you luck for the future.

Katster - I doubt very much you have done any damage moving stuff around so far, but it is worth knowing as you progress, as your muscles and ligaments start to stretch, and as you start producing elastin (not sure when that happens), you are much more likely to pull something by heavy lifting/pulling (baby will be fine, well cushioned!).

We have the electrician round fitting new extractor fan in our bathroom - DD said 'look at my belly' and the bloke said 'oh do you have a fat belly?' 'yes' dd said 'just like mummy's' . the bloke laughed his head off! I am a skinny thing, but do have a fat belly right now!

Cies · 01/04/2009 09:25

So sorry nowherehelp

Iggypiggy sorry you are in a limbo. Try not to write it off yet. Hope the time before the scan passes quickly for you.

Last night I was woken by the street cleaners hosing down our road at 4.30 am Why oh why would they do this at that time? Then of course I couldn't get back to sleep, so am all befuddled this morning. Really must take the dog out for a walk but have no energy. I'm going to take her to the park and hope there are other dogs there she can run around with while I stand still!

I'm now 7+6 and have noticed that I don't feel so sick now. But I think I may have jsut become better at managing it. I never leave the house without an emergency supply of dried apricots and digestive biscuits.

I haven't told work yet, partly because I haven't had to miss any classes for appointments yet and I haven't been sick or too tired to work. But also because it's a very casual place and I suspect that the person I told wouldn't keep it to herself. So, while I don't have to tell them I won't.

tigger32 · 01/04/2009 09:29

newherehelp I'm so very sorry to hear about your eptopic pregnancy its very sad, like others have said though its great news that they saved your tube, i wish you the very best of luck in having a "straight forward" pregnancy next time. Take care of yourself

pavlovthepregnantcat · 01/04/2009 09:30

I forgot to add, seeing as MS is mentioned...My MS came back with a vengeance this morning. Yesterday I was unwell with fruit juice so this morning I thought I should eat straight away, and it promptly came straight back up, luckily before the builders/electrician got here

tigger32 · 01/04/2009 09:35

roomac Good luck with the scan today

katster37 · 01/04/2009 09:44

Yes roomac good luck

BeckyBendyLegs I was just reading an article about how MS can be very on-off so maybe your body is almost concentrating on dealing with the bad cold? Mine certainly affects me to varying degrees each day. I hope you're feeling worse (!) later on.
