Lovelypear and Easyeggs - I'm in West Sussex now, but I used to go to school in T Wells (Bennett if you know t wells at all!) and know Crowborough quite well too!

I did think about the birthing centre at Crowborough as it has such a good reputation, but in all reality, it is just too far from where we are now!

LovelyPear · 17/03/2009 19:38

yay easyeggs and southernbelle! the birthing centre here in Crowborough is amazing - I feel sooo lucky to have it on my doorstep. I really wanted to have DS there but as we were induced we went to Eastbourne (where we had a v good experience). Fingers crossed we can at least transfer back there this time after the birth.

I do know of Bennett, but not too familiar with schools yet as DS is only 1.

Easyeggs, so know how you feel re needing some reassurance. This thread is the only thing keeping me sane at the mo!

alexdrake · 17/03/2009 20:01

Evening all, It's great checking in to find out how everyone is progressing - nice not to be in this alone.

Katster I know exactly what you mean, I was popping to the loo twice as often as normal given the continual peeing. Adding to that the visits for knicker checking I'm wearing a path in the carpet from my desk to the loo at work!

Helips whereabouts are you, any info on Basildon vs. Southend hospitals for maternity units - we've only recently moved to the area, I had DS in Kent.

mrsdisorganised · 17/03/2009 20:06

Hello....Wondered if I could join you ladies!

I got my bfp at the beginning of the month so by my calculations should be due around the 7th November, have only just told a couple of family members, who I am sure are bored of me and babies as this is our 5th!

Anyway have alot of reading to catch up with you all!

beepbeep · 17/03/2009 20:20

You lot can't half talk!! I too am feeling tad sick and absolutely shattered!

Have a GP appointment tomorrow but booking in sess with midwife is an hour long and first one they could get me is 7th April, seems like so far away.

I'm near Oxford / Glos and we have a great birthing centre here, just don't think they'll let me use it again as DS was over 10lb and they get abit wary of big babies cause they are a long way from a hospital, I hope i can go there again, but if they concerned the i'm not going to risk anything.

I've also had a few trips to the loo today to check knickers!!

Misdis - I know what you means about family getting bored, this is our 3rd and the 11th grandchild, no gets excited any more

A friend of mine mentioned that nuchal scans are now free in Oxfordshire (as they apparently are in some other parts of the country) does anyone know if this is right, could do with saving the £180!!

beepbeep · 17/03/2009 20:21

just read my post and half of it doesn't make sense, but sure you all get the jist!

weston · 17/03/2009 20:27

Argghhh I swore I'd get an early night yet the lure of a quick look on MN won out

mrsdisorganised Yayyy I'm not the only mad one lol!!! Congrats How old are you other lo's? Are you worried at all at the prospect of trying to fit another person into daily life? I have no idea how I'm going to do it

southernbelle I do know the school but only because I have a friend who used to go there. Small world Did you used to live in T'Wells then?

Suppose I should try getting that early night now....

LissyGlitter · 17/03/2009 22:32

Eek! just had a BFP! We weren't even properly trying yet! We already have a DD who is two and a few days. i'm a bit terrified as I had an awful pregancy last time with urine infections and morning sickness, followed by a hrrible birth and emergency c-section. I have to ring my doctor first thing tomorrow as I'm on a load of drugs for some mental problems that the birth last time made a million times worse. If I come off them god knows how mental I'll get!

helips · 18/03/2009 07:15

Morning all!

Welcome Mrsdisorganised, ahappymummy and lissyglitter, wow there are loads of us now! Can't believe you are on baby number 5 Mrsd, hats off to you

Alexdrake, I don't know about Basildon hospital but I had ds at Southend. Was meant to have a lovely home birth but ended up having an emergency cs. The staff were lovely and it was very clean. My only complaint really was that once I had ds the midwives kept waking us up to breastfeed even though we both just wanted to sleep, I hadn't slept for 3 days! Still, I'm sure they do that in all hospitals.

Cies · 18/03/2009 08:38

Morning - welcome Mrsdisorganised, ahappymummy and lissyglitter.

Hope everyone's feeling ok this morning.

I went to the hospital for the first lot of blood tests to check HCG is rising. An ENORMOUS queue awaited me. I was famished (no breakfast before taking blood) and it was sweltering in there. After 25 minutes standing in the queue, I checked in and then it was all quite simple - one tube of blood. I had taken a banana in my bag and stuffed it in my mouth as soon as I got back to the waiting area. Very uncouth

Stokey · 18/03/2009 08:43

Hello all - welcome to newbies - so many people & posts now, can't really keep track.

Can't remember who else was in North London, but I went to see Doc yesterday & am getting referred to UCLH, which apparently has brand new maternity unit & is very good. Was down for Homerton, but there's only a mile or so in it distance wise & UCLH nearer work... I get 22 wks maternity leave on full or 90% pay so am going to try & work up to the bitter end all going well.

Hope all morning sickness girls not feeling too rough, someone said ginger nuts are good? I'm lucky, just ever increasing boobs and felling a bit tired. Gotta run but enjoy sunshine ladies.

beepbeep · 18/03/2009 09:16

Morning all, feeling sick as a dog this morning, got doc's appointment this aft and gettig quite excited, though i know from experience it isn't particularly exciting!

Realised this morning that it's 3 years since i was on anovember thread (think i'm due about 2 weeks before DD's birthday) and have managed to fit a july thread in in between times!!

Hope everyone's feeling ok - gorgeous day, too nice to be feeling pants!

beepbeep · 18/03/2009 09:19

Stokey, that's not a bad maternity package there, we get 12 weeks at full pay then SMP. At least we get that for 9 months now, i was back to work first time round when DD was 5 months.

iggypiggy · 18/03/2009 09:25

What is SMP? Am so clueless...

iggypiggy · 18/03/2009 09:25

ps. I mean hw much - not 'what does it mean'

scarlotti · 18/03/2009 09:28

Morning all

How lucky are you lovelypear to live right by the crowborough unit. It's a bit far for us really, although I'd love to go there.
We need to be fairly close to the hospital as both my other dc's have come quite quickly.

Wearing my wristband again today, seemed to help yesterday with the ms so going to give it a go. Might be pure conincidence but I'll try anything!

Welcome to all the new recruits. There are so many of us now I'm struggling to remember who is from where etc!!
