Heeelp nearly passed out on the bus into work, I was so hot! Wondered what all this 'hot hot hot' stuff was about... phew! Last night my boobs were bright red and were boiling!!

detsy if the cow fails, how about white t-shirt, white tights, black nose and cotton wool stuck everywhere? Ta da! A sheep! (at least, thats what my Mum did for me circa 1977!!)

Told dp about my, erm, hairdressing skills. Or lack of. He couldn't stop laughing and said he'd do it next time! Awww (he even said 'what are they all doing on mumsnet?!')

Belgianchocolates · 24/02/2009 10:17

LOL, I've got a funny sight here right next to me. Looks like chickens love the sun too and one of them is sunbathing on the decking with her eyes shut. She's clearly chilling and enjoying life. She also tried relaxing on a bit of drainpipe lying there (untidied storm damage), but ended up rolling off

sausagen welcome to the club of the overheated pregnant ladies. Hope someone offered you a seat on the bus! Great idea for a sheep too, better than your hairdressing idea I'd say

chocolatebunnies · 24/02/2009 12:01

Fi The disc has arrived this morning! Im quite looking forward to listening to it later, although did have to chuckle that it says on it "do NOT listen whilst driving or operating machinery" hope it works. Thanks so much for getting out to me so quickly!

FiKelly · 24/02/2009 13:22

I came across the paper plate ideas while looking for diy party activities for ds birthday party last year.. didn't do that one in the end.. but maybe will this year instead & sausage love the sheep idea

chocolatebunnies glad cd arrived safe..

belgian hope your meeting wasn't too scary after all & i'm sure the dc's will love the pancakes tomorrow just as much

i'm trying to decide whether to make thick american style ones or crepes

OP posts:
Momino · 24/02/2009 13:25

hi all. we (actually, I) made pancakes today though I don't know how because I've got a very clingy 18 month old and 3 yr old who's constantly whingeing and trying to bang her sister's head against the kitchen table .

chocolatebunnies, how's your sore throat? i get sore throat as a result of anxiety -don't know ifyou're feeling similar. my throat gets really tight and physically starts hurting. I need some relaxing CDs.

About hypnotherapy, I'm going to York's nearly new NCT sale this weekend and going to see if they've got any used ones. Otherwise, I'll buy from Ebay or internet shop. I heard that the ones for birth you're meant to listen to from wk 32. Somehow I think I could use hypnotherapy right now!

Momino · 24/02/2009 13:28

fi, you can't go wrong with either. The crepe ones roll better though. We made American thick banana ones and ran out of maple syrup after the 2nd one so did the lemon-sugar thing which doesn't work as well on the american ones (though we're doing a great job polishing them off in any case!).

enjoy !

Tummum · 24/02/2009 13:28

Hi Detsy
I might be interested in your buggy. I was half thinking about getting a Maclaren XLR but I really really want a pram / carry cot too. How small does it fold up (I have a v. small car boot.) Love the colour btw.

detsy · 24/02/2009 13:51

Hi tummum
Just put it on ebay this minute. The chassis is quite large for a pram but then I've got used to my Bee now - the measurements are on the advert on ebay though. There are also lots of pics too!

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=300296263964

Unsure if that llink will work but the last numbers are the item number and its listed as a Quinny Buzz Dreami Sulphur

Quite sad to sell it for silly attachment reasons!! What an idiot I am!!

detsy · 24/02/2009 13:52

Hmm I think that links to my personal page but no matter at least you can see it!

detsy · 24/02/2009 13:53

Right have to dash to buy cow things..... I could well be cursing later and reverting to cotton wool balls....

Polony · 24/02/2009 13:55

Fi thats clever, I love the cows. It reminds me of when I was at kindergarten, my mum was our teacher and there were so many things you could do with a paper plate...we made bear faces once, you just cut extra ear shapes, cover the mask with cotton wool, paint brown or whatever colour bear you fancy. We all went on a teddybears picnic to the local swimming pool, theres a photo of 15 little kids cross legged on the lawn in swimming costumes eating sandwiches with bear faces on.

FiKelly · 24/02/2009 13:56

I meant to say i get a dry/kinda sore throat.. weird sensation really late in the evening when i'm thinking of sleep.. if i have a snack or some milk it goes..

i make the thick american pancakes quite often so i think i'll make mostly crepes for a change.. will have to do a few thick ones as ds prefers those.

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag · 24/02/2009 14:15

I get the dry/sore throat thing too in the mornings but I think that's probably because I'm constantly quite stuffed up and so breathe through my mouth at night (and probably snore too ). Usually my sore throat goes away after I've had a hot shower and a drink so I think it's just dryness from the night. Not very nice though.

frazzledoldbag · 24/02/2009 14:23

BTW I think the cow outfit sounds fab and super cute. Clever you fi. Good luck making it detsy.

Talking of second hand prams I have been meaning to sell my Mamas & Papas MPX travel system for ages. It is in very good condition with carry cot etc. and was only used (lightly) for about 6 months with DD2. It is in the grey Bloomsbury fabric (now discontinued I think) but there is one on ebay just now in that colour if you want to be nosy and check out the colour. Not selling the car seat with it but M&P Primo Viaggio car seat clips straight on the chassis. It also has a front or rear facing interchangeable seat unit which the child moves into once too big for the car seat and carry cot. Anyway if anyone is interested let me know. Otherwise I'll prob put it on ebay in a few days. (Don't need it as have an old McLaren, a Bugaboo Cameleon and am considering a double OutnAbout 360 like my SIL's - hers is fabby).
Am a buggy freak, I know.

decided to make both thick and thin pancakes.. ds came to help ;) pancake batter all done.. and ds needed a complete wash and clean clothes after. he was sitting next to me on the kitchen worktop in his vest and t-shirt helping me weigh and stir.. he ended up with flour and sugar etc on his face, legs, tummy, arms, caked on his hands.. over worktop and dropped on floor. had a ball and thank goodness he was contained to kitchen! just seen status update of a friend on Facebook who is now cleaning up eggs from around her flat!

Dandy hugs to you. Hope your down-ness improves.

I really should be working now.... but given I don't know whether I have a job or not for another couple of weeks, I really cannot be bothered.

FiKelly - I hope you took a photo of your son!!! Priceless memory! As for the cow - amazing!!!

I'm afraid I cheated with pancakes - I bought some crepes in Tescos and toasted them a bit with Nutella melted over them... I wonder why I'm putting on a bit of weight!!! Between that and 'Fifteens' and Lyons Midget Gems!!! Not too bad really with the weight - could be a lot worse I suppose. 6Kg since beginning of preg is OK??

I get a dry throat especially in the mornings - VERY thirsty - I go straight to the kitchen (and please excuse my lack of hygiene... but we're all family...) and gulp down as much milk as I can drink out of the carton!!! It is a necessity - honest!!!

My pains (thanks for all your empathy!) were better this morning so didn't need to wear the belt. Though by this afternoon I was starting to get sore again. So getting ds a bath and then I'll be taking a soak before bedtime. I'd seriously recommend co-codamol for it!!

As for bringing your own antibiotics into hospital - WHY??? And how on earth do you get them prescribed when you don't need them?? My GP won't prescribe unless absolutely required - and rightly so! if you have an infection there are broad spectrum ABX to start with and then specific ones if the infection doesn't clear. But using your own .... I dont want to offend onyone, but I think it's dangerous & potentially futile! Overuse of ABX causes their effectiveness to weaken - have you not seen the advert??? And the same for taking your own painkillers - do you tell the MW/nurses what you have and are taking - you could end up overdosing - if they give you eg paracetamol and you take eg tylex (co-codamol) you are taking TWICE the amount of paracetamol... This is dangerous. If you're in need of stronger analgesia or ABX you will be given it - just moan more!!!

divedaisy · 24/02/2009 18:52

Dandylioness - what a total immature bitch she is (Your MIL)- what is her problem? It is totally unaccpetable - I'm fuming for you!! I await her explaination... what could she say to justify hanging up on you?

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 24/02/2009 19:09

Dandy - that's just plain rude of your MIL It's not you that's the cliche, it's her.

llareggub - glad things have moved forwards positively with your MIL. Long may it continue!

Detsy - hope the cow worked out ok!

I had my consultant appointments this afternoon. Endocrinologist was pleased as my thyroid level is the best it's been all pregnancy. It's meant to be around 2.0 or just below and has varied between 3.3 and 4.4. Today it was 2.58!! She hasn't upped my thyroxine for the first time in this pregnancy! Have to go back in 4 weeks though just to keep an eye on it.
Obstetrician was v nice and found FHB first go. He reckoned baby is head down at the moment and seemed v happy but I'll see him again in 4 weeks when I see the Endocrinologist.

I mentioned the pain I had been getting and he thinks I need a bit more support under my bump overnight whilst I'm asleep and that it was more a muscular strain in my abdomen. It sort of makes sense as it was always so bad after a night's sleep so I'm going to use a rolled up towel tonight.

FiKelly · 24/02/2009 19:12

dandy at your MIL & how extremely rude. she could at least have said hiya made some chit chat and then rang off to call your dh on his mobile.. without mentioning it was dh she wanted. i just hope she's avoiding talking to you because she's planning a nice surprise for you.. but from what you've said it's not likely is it?!

OP posts:
detsy · 24/02/2009 19:23

dandy how rude and pathetic for a grown woman, hope your DH is going to give her a piece of his mind! Deep breaths girl, its always so much more powerful when you can stay calm and rational in the face of such appalling behaviour!

I'm off now to start the cow...OMG. Fi if you lived closer you'd be def roped in for this one. Went a bit mad in Hobbycraft so we'll see how all the accoutrements hang together.... Home alone so no supporting DP to encourage me (yeah right )

I'll post later if I've not stuck fingers to glue gun to let you know the outcome

FiKelly · 24/02/2009 19:40

detsy dd will love just getting dressed up.. I'd start with the head gear ears or mask if you're going for whole look. that way if you don't feel like it you don't have to decorate the clothes & you must take a photo of her dressed up.. just have fun with it and don't stress.. it doesn't need to be perfect. if i were closer i'd have loved to help!
