Hope no-one minds me kicking this one off - 39 pages seemed a bit unmanageable!

Had 20 week scan today. Tiddler unco-operative to start with (although not as bad as DD was - took 3 goes to see everything) and it looks like most of the bits are in the right places. Decided right at the very last minute not to find out the sex. Realised that, if DD thinks she's going to have a sister, that nothing, not even photographic evidence, will change her mind anyway. So stuck with the 'don't ask don't tell' as per first time around and will just have to wait to sort out all the sodding clothes 'til we know what we've got.

Although... What do gonads look like on a scan?! Got a very good look at the hips from underneath, so to speak, and thought I saw two little bright spots, but that could be the sitting bones of course. Anyone tell me what the crown jewels look like on a scan?!

Heartburn - me too, I use rennie tablets the spearmint ones or milk.

Swollen ankles - again me too, have had for a few weeks and my left ankle seems worse than the right.

lydia did you get on okay with your scan??

cheeky I am having a meet with anaesthetist too as I also have a BMI of over 30 but also I am totally inaccessible and when I had to have a epidural to go to theatre last time they failed to get it in 9 times. They also can not get blood off me easily of get canulars in etc.

Anyone getting hip ache? I had it last time to. I lie on one side with a pillow under my tum and one between my legs but I'm starting to wake now after a couple of hours and have to turn over, then the same again. Last time I was PG I ended up sleeping from about midnight till 4am and then having to get up and go and sleep in an armchair as so uncomfortable. Not looking forward to it getting worse.

We had another sunny day today! Yey! I love the nicer weather.

I have been feeling baby move less and less and feel more wriggling now than big kicks, apparently this is normal but it does feel odd.

I'm having the hip ache too - can't sleep on one side for more than an hour or two, before waking up and having to heave myself over onto the opposite side. Have been trying wrapping myself around a body pillow thing, but I get so HOT with it. DP tends to sleep like a starfish, and the cat likes to be on my side of the bed as well, neither of which help particularly. The spare bed is beckoning for at least one of the three of us
Getting in and out of the bath is starting to get "fun" too. I can't do either very elegantly any more. And I do soooo love my baths and dread having to give them up

morning everyone - i am off work for the rest of the week. DS is in nursery this morning so i'm just relaxing until its time to pick him up.

hi patchybob - it sounds like your friend is being extremely rude to you. i am sure its hard for her to see you pregnant but there is no excuse for just walking past you!i would congratulate her when and if she says shes expecting again but i dont think i could be close friends again. will she drop you again the next time the green eyed monster strikes?!

pop1973 · 22/04/2009 09:41

Thanks for the messages about the measurements, not overall concerned, but just feel very big at the moment.

Due 2nd July, have been having problems with heartburn but just taking gaviscon and been prescribed something cheaper by the doctor for it.

I have started to get my bags ready, as I am really concerned that I will have this baby early. Just a feeling I get, and being miles away from the hospital isn't helping me and my worries much.

Plus we are hoping to move in a couple of weeks, not a great time, so along with getting some boxes packed, thought I perhaps should get my hospital bag and new baby bag packed and put in the car, just in case.

I am not going along to the hospital until week 36 to discuss delivery !!!!! is this usual, it is my second, but had complications last time with delivery !!! Not seeing the midwife again until week 34 at the surgery and I am just going into my 30th week. I don't feel that I am being seen enough !! Anyone else not been seen much by the midwife, hospital ????

chellebelle · 22/04/2009 10:12

pop have seen midwife at booking in, 16wks, 24wks and will see her next week for 28wk appt, then 32, 36 and 40 (I think) plus scan at 12 and 20 weeks, think that's pretty much standard and you only see them more if there are complications / concerns so officially it's a good thing if you haven't seen them much. It is disconcerting though having to depend on your instincts/the internet to know if anything is wrong.

mickeylou enjoy your quiet time - I have DS2 at home this morning while DD is at nursery but will put him in bed soon so I can get some stuff done (and maybe have a sit in this gorgeous sunshine for a while ).
Although have just tried to find my notes to check appointments and and can't see them anywhere - maybe I'll be spending the morning searching for notes instead

gillyan I'm getting to the movement rather than kicking stage too - I love this bit, especially when you can make out bits of body ie elbows that you see move, alien like, across your stomach

chellebelle · 22/04/2009 11:12

have found notes - yay! My DH has obviously been "tidying" again - found them shoved in the bottom drawer of the telephone table.
List of midwife appointments:
booking in, then 16, 24, 28, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 41, 42 weeks, scans - 12 and 20 weeks. GTT if needed 28 weeks.

My sister is pregnant (due sept) and had an ECS first time round due to complications in labour. She had one appointment with consultant to discuss the birth at 17 weeks and has another appointment and scan at 36 weeks to see where things are at and to actually make a decision as to whether she wants to go for a VBAC or CS. So think it's fairly normal to discuss options at that point.

Patchybob · 22/04/2009 15:05

mickeylou I agree with you, will never be able to trust her again really as like you say will never know when she could turn.

Had a great night sleep! Cheekycel did most of what you do and it does work. Only hope it works again tonight! Feel so much better for a good nights sleep.

My physio appointment has come through for next wednesday which will be good. SPD not as bad but getting quite a few shooting pains if I do anything too quickly.

Anyway off to get the DC, its swimming lessons for DD after school and then karate lessons for DS tonight. Its non stop!

lydiathetattooedlady · 22/04/2009 18:08

hi everyone! scan was amazing on monday have put some piccies on my facebook page, even managed to get one of him smiling...and definately a boy!
trying to catch up on here...im having the bad achey hips too, almost like they're out of socket!? my pelvis feels like its being pulled apart at the minute im in agony and cant wait to finish work ive had enough!
im quite suprised ive not had too much heartburn, in my last pregnancy with dd i was swigging gaviscon out of the bottle bleurgh!
im naively hoping that since dd was on time this one will be, my bump feels so heavy it hurts, does anyone else have this? im struggling to stand. also think this is why my back is so bad, i feel like i need a bra for my belly!
swollen feet and ankles...im already donning flip flops but definately need to get a cheese grater to my heels they're so dry its disgusting!

Phoenix · 22/04/2009 20:12

Lydia the pics are great. Love the one of him smiling

Welcome chellebelle i've added you to our list. Hello Pop have you been here before cos you're already on the list

I keep getting odd bits of heartburn but not bad enough to drink that ransid gaviscon yet. I didn't really get heartburn with ds either though (and he had masses of hair)

ilikeyoursleeves · 22/04/2009 20:34

Hi all, thankfully i don't have any heartburn and didn't last time either- incidentally DS was born with a headful of black hair! So not sure if that old wives tale is really true...

Welcome to Chellebelle and Pop, hope you are well.

Not much to report from here, still trying to sort out when I'm leaving work. I don't think my manager is keen for me to carry over 20+ days to the end of my mat leave so there is talk of exchanging my A/L days for hard cash! That might be a good option as things will be tight once I'm on mat leave and the extra money could pay for DS to stay in nursery for a bit while I'm off

Feeling quite tired and also very impatient for my scan- it's 5th May when I'll be 28 weeks, I haven't seen babba since 12 week scan!
