Hope no-one minds me kicking this one off - 39 pages seemed a bit unmanageable!

Had 20 week scan today. Tiddler unco-operative to start with (although not as bad as DD was - took 3 goes to see everything) and it looks like most of the bits are in the right places. Decided right at the very last minute not to find out the sex. Realised that, if DD thinks she's going to have a sister, that nothing, not even photographic evidence, will change her mind anyway. So stuck with the 'don't ask don't tell' as per first time around and will just have to wait to sort out all the sodding clothes 'til we know what we've got.

Although... What do gonads look like on a scan?! Got a very good look at the hips from underneath, so to speak, and thought I saw two little bright spots, but that could be the sitting bones of course. Anyone tell me what the crown jewels look like on a scan?!

OMG that little boy on Britains Got Talent has got me crying, damn hormones

Misspaella · 18/04/2009 21:05

Jetli Ugh to all that Lucozade! Hope your results come out ok. That's the important thing. Not sure what to say about holidaying at 37 weeks. I was only a week early for both my DC's. Are you away for just a week and in the UK? Maybe if you do go away just suss out where a hospital is and bring your notes. Most people do tend to go overdue w/1st pg...

Gillyan OMG the pics are amazing!!! It is making me so excited. We have actual babies in our tums! You are so lucky to have had the dcan done.

Phoenix glad yours went well too, must have made a good day out.

Gillyan · 18/04/2009 21:12

Oh that bot was ace on BGT!

Thanks for your lovely photo comments! If you're not having one done then don't worry it will be no time till your littlo ones arrive and then u can look at them forever!! xx

Gillyan · 18/04/2009 21:16

I mean, that boy not bot! The guy we know wasn't on this week.

DP runs a music stop shop and he said there is a hilarious eccentric guy from where we live going on to play keyboards, and then we have Mr methane going on too, hope we get to see them.

lydiathetattooedlady · 18/04/2009 21:37

dp is out on a works do, have just text him to see if we can have one but not had reply!! my wonderful grandparents have said they will buy is whatever is on our list of needs for baby, so going to use this as an exucse as we dont need to buy anything now! my grandparents are amazing!
gillyan just realised you said you were from macclesfield, an ex of mine used to work in rob jones (think its rob jones or steve jones cant remember!) tattoo shop there, have been to macclesfield a few times!

BonzoDoodah · 18/04/2009 21:38

Lovely pics Phoenix and Gillyan. I'm hoping to have a 4D scan too. Can't wait!

Gillyan · 19/04/2009 00:10

*lydia' no way, I know Rob! He has done some of my tattoos, years back mind. He has Skin Creations, still going! What a small world. He's a nice bloke from what I know. My friend opened a rival tattoo shop so I had my big stuff done with him, but he's moved away now so will be booking in with Rob to have a new one done after the baby. I have DD's name with a design on my back so I'm going to be obliged to have a new one for baby. He's really good and gets booked up like 3 months in advance so going to book in with him soon. Hope you get your scan lydia, how many weeks are you? It's best to have it between 26 - 32 weeks.

lydiathetattooedlady · 19/04/2009 13:12

yay! dp said we can have a scan! i said i really wanted one and would be willing to shell out for it myself but he's said we'll pay together! im so excited just got to book one! think we'll go for babybond as its the only one i know of but may do some research!

Jenny79 · 19/04/2009 15:13

woollyjo · 20/04/2009 09:47

Hi All,

Starting my 30th week now and the penny has dropped this is actually going to happen (I'm a bit slow on the take up clearly).

I have started asking round for emergency child care for DD in the event that baby comes at an inconvenient time or that I have have to go into hospital (hoping for a home bith).

Feeling like a lump.

xxhunnyxx · 20/04/2009 09:58

I'm just off to the hospital, they want to put me on the moniter cos not felt any proper movement since Saturday.
Sure it's nothin, prob just bein lazy or lay facing inwards but best to be on the safe side

Gillyan · 20/04/2009 11:12

Hope you're okay hunny I'm sure you'll be fine, let us know x

Cheekycel · 20/04/2009 11:53

Hi xxhunnyxx hope all is well? im sure it will be fine though, thinking of you.

VERY jealous of the 4d scans! I want one!

My sis, friends & colleagues gave me a surprise baby shower on Saturday and I was spoilt rotten! Think im set with just about everything i'll need. My SIL even bought us a lovely travel system! Was so shocked and she obviously discussed with DP as it was exactly what i wanted! Friends bought lots of clothes, nappies, wipes, breast pads, maternity pads, bouncer, sling, lovely baby journal, cant even remember the whole list.

So touched and was in tears most of the time, especially as my family are all far away in SA. My sister will also be going back in a weeks time and SIL is moving to Wales so I was especially teary.

oh well, mammoth post again,
only a coupla more weeks girls oh and i have midwife appt this afternoon.

JetLi · 20/04/2009 11:59

Hope all's well hunny - come back and tell us when you can.
woollyjo I've just had a weekend of feelings like "Why are we doing this?" . After 5 years of trying, you'd think I'd have got my head around it by now, but to be truthful after that long I think I was probably more used to the idea of never having any kids.
Anyway had a chat with DP last night (who told me basically to stop being so bloody daft) and I feel a bit better now. First time Mum jitters I think - not helped by the vast majority of folks who keep saying to us that it will be like hell on earth when baby comes...
Aren't people helpful?!!

Patchybob · 20/04/2009 13:09

xxhunnyxx hope you are ok, thining of you.

I haven't been on for a while as dp has been off on holiday and between him and the kids I haven't been allowed near the computer. Anyway, he's back at work today and the kids are at school......bliss!

I am feeling so tired at the moment and not sleeping at all well. I wake up tired which is not a good start! DP has been banished to the "spare room" ie soon to be babys room as he is keeping me awake with his snoring. I feel really bad about it and its weird not sleeping in the same room, but I just can't cope with no sleep at the moment.

It was dd 6th birthday at the weekend and we had a few days of excitement with parties etc. It was so sweet and she loved every minute of it.

Are any of you suffering with hayfever at the moment? I have it really badly, which probably isn't helping the sleep situation.

Anyway, feel like I have had a good moan! Hope you are all ok, and I love the scan photos! Very envious!

xx

BonzoDoodah · 20/04/2009 13:30

JetLi I don't know who's been tellign you it will be like hell on earth! And I wonder what their agenda is! Having a new baby is hard work and like nothing else - but not hell. It really depends on your baby and what you are expecting. if you still want to go clubbing and sleep whenever you want and generally live the life you lived before then it will be a shock. Otherwise ... it's lovely. I had an easy baby I have to admit - but she slept a lot and looked a lot and ate and looked and slept and then smiled and smiled and was generally lovely. True - waking inthe night for feeds wasn't fun - but it wasn't hideous either. I just slept when the baby slept later in the day.

mickeylou · 20/04/2009 13:45

Hi everyone, sorry i am been absent for so long. its my first day back at work today after two weeks off - one sick with a cold and the other holiday. i now have anemia and am taking horrid little iron tablets that make you contstipated and turn your pooh black!! lovely!!

honey - sending you lots of hugs. let us know how you get on. am sure you will be fine - little one is probably just playing tricks on you. x

jetli you wouldnt be normal if you werent apprehensive about how much your life is going to change but ignore anyone who says having a baby is hell on earth. its the best thing you will ever do and pretty soon you wont be able to imagine life without them!! it will be hard work but i promise its completely worth it

xxhunnyxx · 20/04/2009 13:58

Thanks ladies - back from the hospital now and I'm pleased to say everything is fine. They put me on the moniter and gave me some cold water (which apparently makes them move!) and he then decided to start moving around, altho I couldn't feel a lot of movements. They said that his movements are beautiful for 29 weeks
So it looks like he's just lying differently so I can't feel as much.
I tried to convince the doctor that I need to go home and rest in my garden for a couple of days but he sadly wasn't biting the bate and told me to go back to work

Being at the hospital with all these machines etc actually made it hit home that in the not too distant future I am actually going to need to deliver this baby and then I'll have this real life baby/child forever. Of course I already new this but the reality of it is now sinking in more.

I went to Ikea yesterday and got a few things for baby's room, I've decided to make it quite bright so he's having an animal/jungle/safari kinda theme. All the walls are white tho so it's not gonna look tacky, gonna look fab .

mickeylou · 20/04/2009 14:18

fab news honey. enjoy doing his room!

JetLi · 20/04/2009 15:18

Well that's a relief hunny - although I think 2 days off work wouldn't be unreasonable - it was probably a Vitamin D deficiency caused by lack of sunshine, so Dr. Jetli prescribes 2 days in a deckchair in the back garden

About the "Hell on Earth" comments, most of these come from the folks at work and I work in an all male environment (apart from little old me - the token bitch in the department). Maybe that has some bearing on it?

I think they'll be glad to see the back of me for 12 months to be honest . In my opinion, working with them has prepared me very well for a few years spent wiping somebody elses arse!!

Gillyan · 20/04/2009 16:19

LOl drjetli that very funny. I prescribed myself some Vitamin D this afternoon and burnt myself! Was nice though! 'hell on earth' yes people are ridiculous. I personally don't think babies are too hard ( I too had a pretty easy baby ) It's when they're on the move and start answering you back that they get tougher I think! Just remember to sleep when baby does and sod off all the chores etc and just make sure you get lots of rest so you are happy.

cheeky what a lovely surprise, especially the travel system, you must have some lovely family/friends

patchy me and DP are still sleeping seperatley too. It won't be forever.

hunny so glad you are and baby are okay

has everyone had gorgeous weather today? Been lovely here. I'm really tired and have no motivation to so anything, not sleeping well and I feel sick all the time and can't eat more than a few mouthfulls of food at a time as just so full. Bet this baby is massive! Oh well it will all be over soon enough.

xxhunnyxx · 20/04/2009 17:22

Omg I've had the most horrendous afternoon at work!! Why didn't I tell work that the hospital were keeping me in for observation whilst I went home and enjoyed ice cream in my garden??? I haven't had one day off work due to this pregnancy and I really think that situation needs to be rectified SOON!
Anybody got any good excuses I can use???
