ooh, just ordered my home birth pool... went with pool in box as I've left it rather late...

MW coming Friday AM to chat over what will happen.. excited now... well, as excited as anyone can be about labour!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 18/02/2009 13:17

which one do you like best LBOT?

Sparklytwinkletoes · 18/02/2009 13:28

Hi everyone - feeling much better now, I've had;

two chocolate digestives
a small banana
some chocolate
a huge morrisons cheese, ham and coleslaw sub

I've got left in my stores:
More chocolate digestives
Plain crisps
Marmite crisps
A kiddies snack pack of pineapple

And lemonade in some vain hope that it will help settle my tummy .

Sorry for quick post, am in the office so its quite hard to get on.

KK - so, so pleased for you [gri n]

Its been a long road, but we're all getting there!

GYo - I've got two BPIAB's, the first one came and when we put it up, there was a hole in it . Not actually a major disaster because the hole was between the rings, rather than to the outside, IYSWIM, but as it wasn't perfect I phoned about it and they sent me a new one and said to keep the old.

DH filled it up but then I wasn't allowed to get in it, and ended up as an EMCS. I burst into tears when I got home to see it still sat there. Poor DH had spent so much time with me at the hospital he hadn't had time to empty it and deflate it - but he did it the first night we were home.

Still, we've got a couple of nice big paddling pools for when DS gets older

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 18/02/2009 13:47

Hello STT.

Glad food is helping to make you feel better.. Real lemondade (not diet) was always great for me

LOL to have two pools!
May I ask why you ended up with the EMCS with DS?

Do you plan for VBAC for DC2 when the time comes?

kayzr · 18/02/2009 14:01

I don't know if we'll ever have DC3. DS1 has just jumped on DH and mainly landed in between his legs. Poor old DH, I tried so hard not to laugh at him

lastboxoftampons · 18/02/2009 14:51

Aw, Kay, poor DH. I'm not sure what it is that's funny about men getting whacked in the midsection, but for some reason...

STT - glad you're feeling better! I found that I felt very nauseous if I let myself get too hungry. I had to eat small and often!

GYO - I really really want the Micralite to do all of the things I want it to (ie face forward or backward and to not require the carrycot from birth) but alas, it doesn't. I have no idea because I haven't really been in the store to have play, but at the moment I'm leaning towards the Britax. As Ses and I have discussed on here, the Icoo is nearly impossible to find in person, but we're headed to Spain this weekend and I thought I might have a better chance of finding it on the continent, so fingers crossed!

Cosmogirl · 18/02/2009 15:07

Hi Lbot,

Yeah we saw the new Britax in the catalogue but I wasn't as keen on the look of it, plus more expensive, so we went for the original model.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 18/02/2009 15:12

LOL at your DH Kay - poor DH!

LBOT, last time around I lost my appetite and couldn't eat, hence loads of sickness, this time I seem to have the most enormous appetite and still feel nauseous...but hey ho!

With DS, I went into labour spontaeously (waters broke) on his due date and contractions were coming hard and fast. Then when midwife came to house she did a VE and found his head hadn't engaged. DH then rushed me to hospital (quicker in car than ambulance where I am) in case of a cord prolapse, his head never engaged and his heartbeat kept dipping everytime I had a big contraction - they thought maybe the cord was getting squished and were concerned for him, so I was whipped off to have him taken out via the sunroof.

There's lots of other bits to pad it out that I've learnt to ignore come to terms with since, but that's it in a nutshell.

I'd like to think I'll be brave enough to go for a VBAC this time, but I'll def. cross pethidine off my list and just skip straight to an epidural!!! It took me about three days to come down and I have very poor / few memories of DS when 'new'.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 18/02/2009 15:15

BTW, I'm not ignoring the pushchair chat, but I really am clueless I'm afraid. I have a graco travelsystem for DS which I love (its all the things that everyone hates, big and heavy, which to me equates to strong, sturdy and carried loads of shopping! I also have a silvercross buggy which we use when we go away for the weekend as it takes less space in the car!

I'd buy the graco again but not the silvercross.

But its all kind of irrelevant as I'm a tightfisted skinflint and don't plan on buying anymore! I have been given a double by a friend so will just use that and save the pennies to stay off work as long as possible!!!

Astarte · 18/02/2009 15:15

2 pics added to the wagon fb page

Starshinetiger · 18/02/2009 15:27

Great photos Astarte! Thanks for posting them.
Can't stop - kitchen emptied and about 1/3 cleaned. Only have 2.5 hours to get it cleaned and restocked before I collect DS - on a tight schedule!

Diege · 18/02/2009 15:29

Really gorgeous piccies ASARTE!! She looks so grown up and sure of herself . Want mine now...

ohsnap · 18/02/2009 15:31

Lovley pics Astarte, the first one looks like she's wiping her brow and saying 'phew, that was hard work!'

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 18/02/2009 15:41

THanks for the story STT... sorry to have asked but Im very interested in hearing reasons why HWBs didnt go as planned.. Love the sunroof reference....

Lovely lovely pics Astarte she is beautiful and what a proud big sister

Glad all is well

lastboxoftampons · 18/02/2009 15:45

Congrats, Astarte - she's adorable! those cheeks are amazing!

Cosmo - there is something unsettling about the look of the new Britax - somehow it looks slightly flimsier than the older version...will have to see in person I guess.

STT - what a story! But I was PIMP about the "sunroof"!

kayzr · 18/02/2009 15:55

Astarte both your DDs are gorgeous!!!

Congratulations again!!!

Hello! I'm back!!

I've ordered a pushchair!!!!!

Went for the 2009 Britax Vigour 4+ and car seat.
Didn't realise there was so much of a difference between the old and the new versions but having seen them both, the new one has more space and goes flat so there's no need for the carrycot (although you can have it if you want).
I went for the puschair and car seat which together with the rain cover and foot muff, all came to £419.99 which - having looked at some prices on the internet - seemed quite reasonable. They've had to order the car seat so will go and collect in a couple of weeks.

It was really easy to click the car seat and buggy seat in and out and fold the frame down.

For anyone that lives in the vague direction of Chessington though, the place I went to was called A3Babybarn and was fab! They had all sorts in there - good range of puschairs, car seats, cots, bedding, etc. I'd definitely recommend. They're in the middle of a golf course though so you'd never know they were! I was lucky I found them via the internet.

Also had a good lunch with my Mum and she bought me 2 dvds for my birthday.

Astarte - just seen your piccies on FB and both your DDs are absolutely adorable! It also helps all this seem real - I can't wait to have my own DC

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 18/02/2009 18:10

Kay - Hi! Was that LB or Glask you heard from?

Diege · 18/02/2009 18:20

Excellent shopping trip SES . Sounds like you made some sensible purchases there - very exciting .
Sounds like GLASK might be the next baby then! Really hope everything goes well xx
Had lovely lunch out with friend, and back now with dd3 from nursery. Seems really quiet just the two of us!

kayzr · 18/02/2009 18:24
