Astarte - your DH sounds like a godsend! What a sweetheart! Hmmm....maybe we should all send out pre-emptive texts every morning we're overdue to everyone we know "Not here yet" over and over again!

You've all reminded me I need to book our NCT classes. DH is quite keen actually - we'll have the same instructor as his brother and SIL and they've told us all sorts of stories, so DH is ready to wind this lady up Actually, apparently she's Hungarian and while her English is just fine, she doesn't really get sarcasm and humour - so most of the men in the class baffled her. Not to mention the fact that DH and his brother are identical twins, so that should throw her for a loop! Totally freaked out the estate agent we used to buy our flat - didn't realize until halfway through the process that BIL and SIL had used the same one. Think he thought I was a mistress that DH was trying to find a crashpad for!

GruffaloSoldier · 10/02/2009 12:11

LOL at identical twins and crash pad for mistress LBox

Astarte · 10/02/2009 12:15

I don't mind the calls so much tbh, but yesterday I'd had 5 by 11am and regardless of where I happen to be in the house the phone seems to be somewhere else!

I'm not carrying the ruddy phone everywhere i go to answer the same call from a different person.

Pubic bone is very sore today, hope it's her head doing that

Sparklytwinkletoes · 10/02/2009 14:04

I'm so sorry to hear how poorly you all are, Glask, love to you if you're around, Gruff, much sympathy D is horrible, nevermind when you're pg as well, take it easy and keep drinking lots of water so you and LO don't get dehydrated.

Kay, I've just had the most enormous ulcer - I assume you mean mouth ulcer? - I couldn't get rid so went to the dr and he told me to get these pellet things, you can buy them from the chemist, and you just put it in your mouth where the ulcer is and let it dissolve - mine was well on the way to healing over by the next day! Sorry about the pup, but maybe you can try again when the DS' are older? Don't be sad - you've had a lot going on.

Diege, does that bit about your name mean I'm meant to be reading you as 'deej'? I'm puzzled now...you've been 'dee-yage' (excuse my phonics!) forever to me!

GYo and Playing and co, so jealous of your ML, work is a real bind at the moment but I'm trying not to get stressed at all and when I feel things building up, I just kind of smile inside at the fact that I won't be here forever and my turn will come

If I get to the end of this week I'll be about six weeks, which I think is just a couple of days behind LTE - I had a text from her last night saying she was fine, but kind of enjoying the break of MN, I can understand that, she's been through quite a lot recently. She said she'll stay in touch on facebook though and to say hi to everyone.

I've been absolutely exhausted, I don't remember it being like this first time round, but I guess that was quite a long time ago. I've been going to bed the same time as DS and having about 11 hours a night! And I've been napping with DS at weekends if I can - i'll be in all sorts of trouble if he even thinks about dropping his naps!

My MW has been in touch to tell me to book my booking in appt for when I'm 8 weeks, so that's all sorted.

Astarte - come on, where's that baby, get sidling up and down those stairs!

Astarte · 10/02/2009 14:33

I'm so stupid....mouth ulcer....of course, I thought of stomach ulcer.

Waiting for Dh to come home so i can have a bath. Might not get back on today, I'm having a good mummy day today

Hello STT great news about your appt. it suddenly becomes very official then doesn't it? If anyone knows of a way to shift Goddessbaby I'm all ears.

Actually, she is very low atm, feels as if she's hanging between my legs. Have been wiping away copious amounts of pant snot too, wondering if it might be a show coming away gradually.

LO is looking tired, might go and lie next to him until Dh gets in.

lastboxoftampons · 10/02/2009 14:41

STT - Feeling tired is a good sign

Astarte - just misread your post and thought it said "Waiting for DH to come home so I can GIVE BIRTH!" you're sending subliminal messages! Oh, and pant snot = EW

Sparklytwinkletoes · 10/02/2009 14:47

Oooh oooh, pant snot sounds an awful lot like show to me

Get some rest Astarte, sounds like you're going to need it!

Lol about stomach ulcer, I was trying to work out what NSAID's were but that's like ibuprofen and stuff isn't it?

I don't actually feel very pg, just very blimin' tired - its a bit early for MS, I know only time will tell what's going to happen, but I just can't get excited - as in, I'm not excited at all because it doesn't feel real and I'm just waiting for it to end. I know that sounds pathetic and like I'm after sympathy, but I'm really not, it just seems all very matter of fact at the moment.

I guess it won't feel real until I have a successful scan, I think that will be a difficult milestone to get through.

lastboxoftampons · 10/02/2009 15:07

STT - I think there's lots of us on here who still feel that way. I've said it before - I've had a scan and I'm STILL not convinced there's anything in there! Take care of yourself and I think a little guarded enthusiasm is definitely allowed

kayzr · 10/02/2009 15:50

Hello!

Yes I did mean a mouth ulcer, sorry should have specified!!

I am an idiot, I have somehow broken the H key on the laptop. It still works but there is just a little black rubber thing to press!!

STT, I didn't fee pg at all with either of mine. It was really wierd as with DS1 I was half exoecting there to be no baby at the scan as I felt so well.

OP posts:
GruffaloSoldier · 10/02/2009 16:55

afternoon all,

delivery man just delivered the cot mattress however i didnt know it was coming today so was v.embarassed to answer the door in huge red fluffy dressing gown, bright pink pj bottoms, pink and red fluffy socks and red fluffy slippers. not to mention the greasiest hair

Astarte - pant snot sounds promising - let hope that babe is here soon!

Sparkly - hooray for booking in appointment!

LBox - I didnt really fell pg til 6 weeks when the nausea kicked in. Before that the only symptom I had was period pain cramps.

LOL Kayz - I was wondering which type of ulcer you meant. Mouth ulcers are a real pain though. I gargle with salt water with mine.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 10/02/2009 17:36

Afternoon everyone

Glask (if you are reading) sorry I completely missed Kayz?s update on you yesterday.. hope you are ok ? we are all thinking of you..

Diege- sorry to hear your breathlessness is back.. hope its better when you are working at home ?found sitting on train always made mine worse?Im not really not planning everyday but have a few things arranged with people who need me to book diary slots

Tink- hope DD2 has sorted out her windiness and you are enjoying your new mobile

Gruff- sorry to hear you are still poorly? sounds really nasty?

Ses- my DH really enjoyed the class (well, said he did one of the exercises we didn?t mention was to split into girls and men grps so it gave them a chance to chat boys stuff, especially when they had to come up with a list of how they might be feeling in the first stage of labour.. Would you consider going without your DH?

STT- hurray for the appt with the MW? remember that long wait for the MW appt very clearly?. Hang in there.. Ooh and your ML will around very quick... mine raced by (in hindsight )

Ast- LOL about the pant snot! Hope you get a nice relaxing bath

Hi Kayz, LB, Playing, Cosmo, Star, MinM, Nat and anyone else Ive missed (blame preg brain)

Just back from my shopping, lunch and MW visit. Another RH jab and Im now 2/5ths engaged and she reckons babys got long legs... which would explain why my ribs are suffering no end! Also she felt BHs on my bump when I was lying there- realised I've had them for ages and not realised as they hadnt hurt at all.. just made bump go rock hard....

Got some lovely baby stuff in H&M.... keep being drawn to the slightly more masculine colours I think mainly because thats what I prefer but wondering if its a subliminal message from the bump... (hurray for guessing games!)

More NCT tonight... am knackered and limping after all that shopping so will enjoy a rest tomorrow

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 10/02/2009 18:19

Hi! Back from MW and all well.

Measuring 27cm and am 27 weeks so need to tell myself all is ok.

Do you know when you have those moments when you suddenly realise what's at the bottom of it all? I had one earlier. I think I'm getting really down about getting so big because I think I'm just getting fat and don't really believe I'm pg. I've been pg twice before and neither time has resulted in a baby and I think I'm automatically thinking the same thing. I know it sounds mad - I am. I think deep down I still feel a fraud and as if I so want to be pg but I can't believe that I am. Not sure I'm making any sense now... I think that's why I've been so reluctant to buy things as well - only 2 tops and the huggies newborn pack that was practically forced on me by someone at work. Anyway, I sort of realised this all earlier and had a bit of a cry about it but I know I'm being really silly so am going to just ignore my stupid subconscious and try and bring reality into my consciousness...

Anyway, enough of my mad ramblings as I should be grateful things are ok and I'm not imagining it as the MW found hb and felt bump.

With regards to the NCT classes, I still think DH will come but just reluctantly. I would go without him but hope it doesn't come to that. Was there anyone at your classes that was without their DH/DP?

As for everyone on sickbay, I'm so for you all. I wish I could stretch to a magic wand to improve things for you all.

Kay - if your ulcer isn't improving, the pellets someone mentioned are very good and are called Corlan pellets.

Diege - (I'm also wondering now if that's Dee-ayge or Deej) take it easy and may be worth getting your iron levels checked?

Glask - thinking of you

LB, Gruff - hope you're both starting to feel a little better

Astarte - hope you can make use of that pool soon!

IDOB, LBOT & STT - I know it's easy to say, but it's so true about not feeling pg. Just look at my initial paragraphs to see how mad one pg lady can get when she has a 27 week bump!!!

GYo - Hope you've had a good 2nd day of ML!!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 10/02/2009 18:25

Oh, also meant to say, I came home from MW to find dog poo and wee in the lounge and the dining room

Not really their fault. We normally put them out during the day as they have a small room at the back of the garage with a dog flap to shelter if they want. With the bad weather over the last 10 days though, we've been soft and let them stay inside. They've not had any accidents in all that time.
Also we have a child stair gate that blocks them in to just the dining room and their room in the house. I think I must have left the gate without catching properly as one of them was the wrong side of the gate when I got home and had made a mess in the lounge and had been upstairs and emptied the bin in our bedroom. Not what I wanted to find and had to just get stuck in clearing it all up.

Also, MW asked me to do a glucose tolerance test next week. I have to fast from midnight one night, then drink 410ml of Lucozade at 7am the next morning, go up to the hospital at 8.45am and get a blood test done at about 9am!! All seems quite involved and I hate Lucozade!!! She said she's only asking me to do it because of my age but do all glucose tests involve Lucozade???!

tinkisluvingbeingamummyagain · 10/02/2009 18:31

hi

dd1 got a great nursery report teacher is really pleased said she is doing so well
my mum had dd1 and 2 here we went 2 asda after nursery bought dd1 a watch for doing so well and an easter egg for our pud. i chose filled pasta and sauce for my tea.
have been playing with mobile have sorted wallpaper etc on it

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 10/02/2009 18:33

Hey Ses- not sure what I can say really to help... I can understand how weird it must be for you, having had the two previous pregancies.. I similarly didnt want to buy anything for ages and didnt til I was 31wks... I wasnt ready really and then suddenly at 31wks i felt ready and it kind of broke the seal of buying stuff... I think its completely normal to feel like that so try not to give youself too much of a hard time... >

At my nct, everyone was there was partner... I think you might feel a bit odd on your own (sorry to say it but rather be honest)... Does he already know the key facts about labour/ pain relief etc?

Also, its still early, he might come around closer to the time... he might feel reluctant for same reasons you feel a bit down....

Right enough of Ses DH analysis

Another plus point from the dads perspective is that my friends NCT grp (met last year) are really good mates and the men go out quite regularly for beers and stuff. THink they like it as it means they "understand" about geting home to wife etc when other non parent friends might not quite get it...

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 10/02/2009 18:33

HI Tink, great for the good nursery report

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 10/02/2009 18:36

Oh thanks GYo - I'm sometimes too good at self-analysis and think I just need to go with the flow... I guess I'll be fine in 3 months once I've got my lo in my arms.

lardybump · 10/02/2009 18:44

Sorry to barge in with a me me post but Astarte or ohsnap I need some help. Just realised that we can not put a buggy board onto our push chair so dp has agreed to get a new double (yipeeeeeeeeeeee) and as the waggons experts on all phil and teds I need to know what one to get and what to order....

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 10/02/2009 19:02

Hello LB! How are you feeling?
Sorry, don't really know about P&Ts. Has Kay got one too?!!
Exciting though to be buying a new buggy!!

lardybump · 10/02/2009 19:08

I am ok thanks ses. Getting a few period like pains today but apart from that i am fine... how about you???

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 10/02/2009 19:35

Doing ok as long as I don't think too much and just get on with things!!

I have most of next week off work (all except for Tues when I have an all day meeting) so I'm looking forward to that and planning a good mix of chilling, shopping, lunches out and using my spa voucher DH gave me for Christmas!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 10/02/2009 19:40

Evening- decided to have a sneaky peak on here as i'm getting withdrawl symptoms!! DH will be home from work soon so only popping my head round the wagon door or i'll get a telling off from him!!

LB- just saw your post, I know Kay has a P&T, she got it from Kiddicare online, but dont know what you'd need.

Thanks for all the well wishes... not much time to catch up so just thought i'd let you all know i'm ok and alive. On Sunday I had some pinkish discharge first thing, didn't think too much of it as it wasn't so much blood, just pink... then by lunch it was blood, again as i was feeling movements and having no cramping/BH/contractions or anything decided to see if it was just a little or if it carried on. About an hour later I had a failry bigish clump of a show with some more blood so phoned DH at work, and got him to make his way home, and phoned the delivery suite for advise. They said to go in asap to be monitored. They did a VE and said my cervix was softening and the lip was getting shorter ready for labour, but baby isn't down enough to be opening it too much yet. There is still a pretty good amount of the mucus plug/show left in place too. Baby was monitored and was fine. If i get any strong BH's i need to go in to be examined and monitored, and am on bedrest as much as possible for the next few weeks or until i deliver basically.

I've been told i could still be able to carry all the way to full term if i take it easy, so its nothing too scary yet... I have fully packed a hospital bag with premmie sized clothing just in case, was very odd doing that!! And if i was to give birth at 37weeks then i only have another 44 days to go now... so i'm just counting my blessings with each day she stays up there... once she engages thats when things could kick off at any point really...

Anyway, i feel ok, DH is taking DS to nursery each morning, and i'm only having to do the walk once, then once i'm home all i'm having to do is make our lunch, sort naps, then make tea later on... DH is doing everything else and working!! He's being such a star!!

I wont be around too much over the next few days/weeks but i'll pop in as and when i can!! if anyone wants my number send me an email at [email protected] and i can keep in touch via text... if not if anything happens i'll text those of you who i have numbers for. But hopefully i wont be needing to do that!!

Astarte · 10/02/2009 20:01

reassuring news there Glask take care x

Ses I didn't acknowledge I was pregnant until was past 30 weeks. I think we all go through a certain degree of madness to do with pg. Do you think that having your Dh share in the movements and classes etc may help bring it home? Perhaps have a chat with him and be honest about how you feel

LB I bought my P&T from Kiddicare I got the buggy, doubles kit, cocoon and raincover. I went through Quidco as well rather than direct to the site (it then directs you to the site iyswim) and it came in at £375.
Even without Quidco, it was still the cheapest from Kiddicare and their service was excellent.

You can buy off eBay too. I almost did but the resale value is quite high and the difference worked out at about £70, so I just bought it new.

It is fab btw.

GruffaloSoldier · 10/02/2009 20:04

Aww Glask - Its good to hear from you. Glad you are managing to rest etc. Take care of yourself and that LO and keep resting. Sorry you are having to go through this though. Im sure everything will be fine. We havent got too long left now.
