Bleugh - woke up at 12, 2, 4 and 6am to be sick last night. Don't know whether it was ms (I ate dinner early as I was going out to work quiz and probably have eaten a bit toast when I got back as I always feel sick if I'm a bit hungry) or some kind of tummy bug. I look and feel like death warmed up this morning and am wondering how I can possibly manage with sleepless nights when we have a baby. Just want to sit and cry after just one night - how pathetic!

idreamofbeanie · 06/02/2009 08:48

Oh ffs - thought I'd have a lovely warm bath and go to work a bit late and have just filled entire bath from cold tap. My brain won't work!

tinkisluvingbeingamummyagain · 06/02/2009 09:01

oh yes sean bean especially in his uniform.
have sleet here frezzing brrr
dd of nursery is ill and dont do driving in icy

ohsnap · 06/02/2009 09:24

We're snowed in! This hasn't happened here since 1978! My dad's gone out in his tractor to rescue our car from a steep hill after he abandoned it there last night, then he's off to Sainsburys in the tractor

Diege · 06/02/2009 09:27

Morning! IDOB, that sounds horrendous - maybe it is a bug rather than such intense ms so early on? I don't know which to wish on you!
KAYZ, 7am for gp's appointment They'll be offering 24 hours soon like the supermarkets
ASARTE, good luck for today - is it your 'unofficial' sweep or am I making that up??
COSMO, well may you run...
Snow gone here all but a few piles on lawns. Have dd3's class, and then must try and get some marking sent out. I am already a day behind, and this lot won't be sent I don't think till Sat morning. If there's a scandel involving late A level exam results you'll know who's responsible - and it's the wagon's fault!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 06/02/2009 09:43

Morning

IDOB- hope you are ok, sounds terrible... could it be something you ate rather than MS? either way take care of yourself today

OS- how exciting to be snowed in! We couldnt open our back doors on monday due to the snow... shame its re frozen slush now... although we may get more snow today...
Is all of your area bad? my dh has to come through there on his way home from south wales on the train.... he was hoping the trains were going to be better than the roads!

Morning Diege, Tink and Kay. kay, hope the docs appt was worth while for 7am

My last day at work today

May have to celebrate tonight!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 06/02/2009 09:44

Ooh hi cosmo... LOL re Nigel H.... will have a think on that one...not "seen" him for ages... has he aged well?

kayzr · 06/02/2009 10:04

I have torn my cruciate ligament on both my knees. I need an x-ray to just check it is nothing more serious. They bloody hurt though.

Oh and Pixie our puppy is coming today!!! The lady that has been looking after her is busy this weekend so asked if she could bring her today instead.

OP posts:
Diege · 06/02/2009 10:18

ooh good luck KAYZ that does sound painful Pixie's arrival sounds exciting!
OS, snowed in sounds a bit of a nightmare for me, though if you are warm and have lots of supplies does have a certain romanticsim about it Good luck with it anyway!
GYO, wow last day of work!!! Hopefully there will be lots of presents and cards How long are you taking for mat leave?
Still in dressing gown but have been doing bits, so not too bad. Only feel guilty if postie comes with parcels etc and I'm not dressed!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 06/02/2009 10:31

Hi Diege- re dressing gown! I've been up since 5.45am

Am very excited to be going, and Im off for 10months in total, 9mths ML and 5wks holiday so December seems a long time off for going back to work, though Im sure it will fly...

Am quietly hoping to slip away unnoticed... my boss has never been pleasant about me being pregnant so would rather he didnt do anything really as it would seem rather false..!

Hoping to leave at 3.30ish!

Ouch Kay sounds painful... my DH has had the ACL repaired before when he damaged his on a motor bike years ago.

Diege · 06/02/2009 10:37

GYO, I'll bet your colleagues will have got a little something for you...I'll be going back hopefully Jan from my leave, adding hols too. Hopefully we can manage with the money situation - I've just become the main earner after a pay rise, which dh is (surprisingly) fine about, and we fancy sharing the leave. Gov have it in the pipeline apparently that leave can be shared (should have come through april 09), but it's been held up by the CBI getting all arsey about men taking time out of employment ...Anyway, rant over and back to real life. Have a nice bowl of tomato soup to eat that will give me heartburn but what the hell, I'm living dangerously

ohsnap · 06/02/2009 11:03

GYo, not sure about the trains, the motorway is open but looks like this!

How did you wreck your knees Kayz? Sounds nasty!

lastboxoftampons · 06/02/2009 11:11

GYO Have a fab last day!
I know what you mean about trying to avoid being the center of attention, but I've found that mostly you just have to grin and bear it. It will be over soon enough!

Gosh, I haven't even thought about how long I'll take and if I'll even go back after maternity leave. I'm secretly hoping we'll manage a move back to the US in the year that I have off, but I think that might be wishful thinking - we do need to start DH's visa application soon.

See, Sean Bean just reminds me of LOTR, which then reminds me that he wasn't a nice person in that and that Viggo Mortensen was MUCH nicer and therefore hotter and besides he gets all his kit off in the Russian mafia movie he was just in.

kayzr · 06/02/2009 11:13

I don't know, apparently it is very easy to do especially while pg or in the 6 months after giving birth as everything is softer because of pregnacy hormones.

OP posts:
lastboxoftampons · 06/02/2009 11:32

Kay What's the prognosis and treatment for something like that?

kayzr · 06/02/2009 11:39

I just have to take anti-inflammatories and it should clear up in about 3 weeks. I think it is just a very little tear. I have had it before. I'm going to be x-rayed just to rule out anything else.

But my Grandad, Uncle and Mum all have arthritis in their knees so I think I will always have problems with mine. My Mum and Uncle are very young sufferers of arthritis as they are both in their 40's.

OP posts:
Diege · 06/02/2009 11:49

KAYZ dh had the same in left knee and he found cycling really helped, keeping the joints mobile and withough the impact of running etc. Did you say you were thinking of cycling?
Wonder how ASARTE is getting on? Maybe we'll have a baby for the weekend

kayzr · 06/02/2009 12:01

Yeah I am Diege. I am hoping to persuade mum to buy me a bike for my birthday.

OP posts:
Astarte · 06/02/2009 12:13

quicky....
pool failed this morning (my fault) we're having a nightmare! Think it's fixed now.

M/w has been and gone. I have protein in my urine and BP was up further, legs still swollen. Down by the time she'd left and taken it again though. I knew something wasn't right, didn't I?
I'm a great believer in trusting your instincts. see how it goes.
If I don't deliver over the weekend I'll go and get checked out again, but I have now been made aware of the implications of it being pre-eclampsia

Did a VE at my request, cervix not as good as I'd hoped, hurt a bit, but has resulted in some strong BH. So I'm keeping moving and will only be back to update if anything happens.

Nigel Havers has not aged well.

Take it easy Kayz

lardybump · 06/02/2009 12:30
