Sorry to hear about all the crises.

TBM hope Tink is feeling better now?

Can't believe that the whole capital has ground to a standstill. First time I've ever known this to happen. No buses, no trains, no tube network, no schools open, it's insane. So I'm holed up at home with two kids and daren't venture out in case I fall over!

Hope you get your CS soon Swampster, and that the other CS ladies are going ahead as planned. It must be so frustrated to psych yourself up for the op and get excited about meeting your LO then nothing doing .

Hope all the poorlies are recovered soon, too.

And congrats O+U . At least we have a lovely birth story to cheer us up! Need to know the name

dinkystinky · 02/02/2009 10:53

Right, have now caught up on the thread (just saw Swampster's message about not being able to get a cab earlier - bloody useless taxi services!)...

TBM&F2 - sorry to hear Tink is ill again; really hope she gets better soon.

Markstretch - sorry for your mum's flight being cancelled but hurrah for your dad being such a superstar. Hope all goes smoothly for you now - and tomorrow.

LBB - sorry your DS is ill too (honestly how come our kids all get ill at the worst possible time!); hope its a 24 hour thing and he's on the mend today and you get some sleep in amidst all that uber nesting. In case I forget, all the best (in getting your dad today and also for tomorrow - so exciting!)

Swampster - hope you're on your way to hospital now; think I'd be delirious by now with no food!! Hope they get you into the operating room quickly. MsLucy is london too (Kentish Town) and doesnt drive so suspect she's had a bugger of a time getting in today too - fingers crossed she got in ok and all going fine. Am sitting by my phone for news and will update when I get a text...

And finally Onwards - CONGRATULATIONS . What a wonderful birth story - am so pleased it all went so smoothly (and quickly) for you after the awful time you had last time round - absolutely fantastic....

DS and I have had a chilled out morning of playing in snow in the backgarden (figured it would at least freeze the snot flow for a bit and easily be cleanable out there if he chundered) and we're now having a charlie & lola fest with milk and apple picnic... this afternoon we will be mostly making dinosaur biscuits I think....

Bet you're glad you're on mat leave, Dinky? Have a nice day with DS!

dinkystinky · 02/02/2009 11:06

Yup - thank god for maternity leave!

Hope the London mums to be (and those others outside of London) who are still working are snowed in today and not trying to struggle into work...

Today I am mostly telling Squiglet that if he wants to be as overdue as his big brother was, that's fine by me - will give the snow a chance to melt...

Swampster, hope you manage to make it to hospital, and that MsLucy and the others booked in today are ok. I have a consultant's appointment at the hospital this afternoon - same one as MsLucy is booked into, and as it's 41 weeks and the consultants tend to do 1 NHS clinic a week I really don't think rescheduling or skipping is very practical. Hope this will make them let me wait before induction at least, as that's the discussion I'm dreading this pm.

So I've booked a minicab, hope it turns up! The other option was the only unaffected tube line into central London, and severe delays on the Northern line out. But although tube is a brisk 10 minute walk pre-pregnancy, I thought it might easily take 25 mins and I don't have the shoes.

My mum was going to drive down from Ilkley tomorrow. I'm not sure it will happen.

Snow still falling.

I can't believe the bus companies can't do something more than what they've done - yes, I'd expect disruption but the idea that buses like mine to hospital which runs along busy main roads throughout is a bit hard to believe.

PinkTulips · 02/02/2009 12:05

omg..... can't believe everythings ground to a halt over there.... what horrible luck that it happened the week so many of you were booked in for cs's.

swampy.... hope you've made it in by now and are still going to meet your baby today.

MS... good for your dad dropping everything and coming to the rescue like that, hope it all goes smoothly tomorrow.

it's freezing here but clear blue skies and no sign of snow.

been having tightenings all morning as long as i keep moving but they die off as soon as i relax again so nothing interesting i think.

my mother came out with a classsic last night... she asked how i felt and i said 'fed up' and her response was 'poor thing, at least you only have 2 days left now' 'erm actually it could be as much as 2 weeks mom if i go overdue' says me, to which she comes out with; 'don't be silly, you're due on wednesday'

apparently women only go overdue if they can't be bothered squeezing the baby out on the due date so as if i'm not stressed and impatient enough i've got her presuming i'm just holding it in for the sheer hell of it, she's already been ringing daily since 35/36 weeks to see if i've had it (she's my childcare for labour ffs, she'd know if i'd had it!!!!) lord knows what she'll be like if if i go overdue.

spottyshoes · 02/02/2009 12:05

Fingers crossed you've managed to get a cab now Swampy.

Aww Dinky it sounds like a lovely day - ML is fab! We've just made the obligatory snowman

herbgarden · 02/02/2009 12:19

Morning all - what a nightmare day for some of you - really hope CS ladies get to where they need to and that those surgeons have made it to the operating theatres. I confess I said to DH that I feel quite relieved that I was early. I really hope that none of you are left waiting for too long.

We managed to get DH down to nursery (it's only 10 mins drive away) - surprisingly it was open and he was desperate to go. The snow is pretty thick and it's still going (I'm in Berkshire). I'm catching up on my SKY+ viewings in between feeding Amy and letting her nap !.....

Looking forward to news later on. Anyone else showing signs - LBB sounds like you might be on your way?

Dinky enjoy your first full day of mat leave - sounds like a lovely family day in store for you. DS couldn't wait to get his wellies on this morning and help his Daddy get the snow off the car. It was sooo sweet. He asked the nursery girls if he could build a snowman.

We went off to bed all of us at 7pm last night after our horrendous Sat night - it was sooo lovely being in bed for 12 hours and I just got out to feed Amy as and when so it felt quite a luxury !...

Will check in for news later.

KT1983 · 02/02/2009 12:30

Hi Everyone,

Had a quick skim read..Hope everyone has managed to get to the hospitals eventualy today??

Cant believe how England comes to a standstill with the weather...DP say's he has never seen London like it.

He is on his way home from work now as doesnt want to get stuck there just incase I do go into labour early....Not alot of chance of that-But would be typical!

Question for anyone....Im due on the 9th, so a week today.
Last few days I have felt a HUGE change in pattern of the baby. She is very active, so much so, it makes me cringe & it hurts. Kicks, elbows, knees, head in my bits....just painful & uncomfortable. Lots of BH too mostly in the night & early morning.

Is this perhaps a sign that she is getting ready? Packing her bags & ready for the off?

I generally feel alot different recently.

MamaGoose · 02/02/2009 12:52

I hope for you it is a sign KT but I've had that for a few weeks and am now late! My BH go mental every night for a few hours, I get loads of tightenings, bowels empty etc but all quiet by the next morning. Some days baby is v active, others it's quiet. As my first 2 DCs were early this is the most pregnant I've ever been! It's bizarre. DP wakes up every day and asks whether he's going to work or not!

I hope all the CS mummies got to hospital. Snow sounds mental over there. Be careful all!

x

KT1983 · 02/02/2009 13:01

Thanks MannaGoose I think im probably just doing alot of wishful thinking, as im bored with being pregnant now & really want to meet my baby.

Its weird how every night I go to sleep thinking 'tonight could be the night'.

I bet it is odd for you, being overdue, esp if you expected to deliver early like your other two DC's.

Fingers crossed for you that your going to get some action in the next 24hrs

mumoverseas · 02/02/2009 13:07

afternoon all, just had a quick catch up. Am hoping that no posts from Swampy for a few hours meant she managed to get a taxi/sledge?

LBB, poor you with your little one, just what you don't need at the moment.

Sitting here watching sky news and can't believe the chaos back in the UK. For the first time in a few weeks I'm actually glad I'm not there.

MS, you must be relieved that your dad is helping out with DD but I bet your mum is gutted she won't be there when LO arrives but hopefully she can get the next flight over on Thursday to see you and baby. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

PT, think we must be related as we seen to share the same mother

PinkTulips · 02/02/2009 14:06

that's it... i'm not leaving the house til the baby has arrived.

i swear to god considering all the women at the playschool have clearly been pregnant at some point they really are tactless, brainless twats! feel like putting a sign on my forehead saying 'DO I LOOK LIKE I'VE HAD THE BABY YET? IN FACT, I'M NOT EVEN DUE YET SO FUCK THE HELL OFF'

KT, mine usually do the opposite and go very quiet in the run up to labour (although kung fu panda's been quite calm for weeks now and nothings happened!)

hope you made it to the hospital swampy

dinkystinky · 02/02/2009 14:20

News just in from MsLucy - Stnaley William born at 10.29 am, weight 8lb 7 oz, c-section a dream. Pink Floyd a hit.

So at least one of our Fab Feb babies has made its way into the world despite the snow today.

HUGE CONGRATS to MsLucy

PinkTulips · 02/02/2009 14:27

well done and congratulations mslucy, glad the cs went smoothly.

wonder if any of the other cs ladies made it or if they're having to wait a bit longer?

nkweto · 02/02/2009 14:27

Hello all,

(((Swampy))) hope you made it ot the hospital and that all the CS ladies made it in on time..

(((MS))) about your mum's flight.. but yay for such a lovely dad.

We have had our own snow adventure today.. had our 41 week appt today at the hospital. No buses, no tubes and taxis saying 1.5 - 2 hour wait time..

so in a fit of craziness we decided to walk there.... 1.5 hours later we got there, DH, DS (wrapped in milions of layers and snuggled into his buggy) and I .. just in time for the appt.. where they took my blood pressue, tested my wee, checked babies position and told me all was fine (really, was it worth the journey ???)

my induction is booked for next weds.. and frankly i hope i dont go into labour in the next two days.. the walk home also took 1.5 hours and now we are all exhausted.. for all those thinking that this was a very silly thing to do.. i know.. my mum has just let me know in no uncertain terms..

nkweto · 02/02/2009 14:29

oooh xposted.. CONGRATULATIONS LittleMissNorty .. wonderful news !

DizzyBrummie · 02/02/2009 14:29
