have made contact with MW, she will be here in half an hour - just broke down in tears as I reached for something and my back yelled in objection, i screamed then cried because i feel so crap....running a bath to have after midwife been.

Anyone know if I'm allowed deep heat?

McDreamy · 11/02/2009 14:07

Hello everyone. Congratulations to GTDAHB and Dinky and welcome to our new babies! Looking forward to seeing some new baby pictures.

Welcome home MOS must be nice to be out of hospital.

Just waiting for the midwife to come over and remove my stitch - starting to pull now!

Had a couple of long nights with Abi! First night home I felt like I was up all night with her, now real change on the second night but last night there was a definite improvement. My milk has come in so I think some of it was down to being milk drunk! She has started the explosive poo, some impressive noises and rumbles

Just made an appointment to register her and make her all official!

Feeling like I just want to get out and get on with life but a bit housebound at the moment. Heading off to get my reusable nappies in the next few days Swampster I am going to start with sandys and see how I go.

McDreamy · 11/02/2009 14:08

Neerly3 enjoy your bath, hope things happen for you soon.

pluto · 11/02/2009 14:09

Congrats Dinky Sounds like it was a lovely labour. Come and give us more details and tell us what to call the next thread.

MrsY, PT - where are you????

I'm back from my pre-op in readiness for CS on Friday. I'm now really nervous. I think sometimes the less you know the better! DS was a crash em CS so no time to think about it before I had the general and went under the knife. This time I think because I've got time to think about it, it's scarey in a different way. In fact, I've been feeling really quite calm about the whole thing until the visit to the hospital this morning.

Anyway, I'm under instructions to shave my bikini area, and am now wondering if I'd rather suffer the indignity of booking a last minute waxing somewhere. There's no way I could get DH to do it, I can just imagine the look on his face!

spottyshoes · 11/02/2009 14:14

I have a can of Deep Freeze next to me and it has a long list of donts - none of them mention pg. The Deep Heat patch says dont use if diabetic and if pg consult Dr to see if heat will be of help

So nothing to say not to but i'd ask the MW to be safe.

Thread titles: We could keep with a similar one to this, if we can't think of one:

It's Fab it's Feb it's 2009: this thread's got no name as we ran out of time!! (

well we do only have 20 or so more posts to go )

Or simply Fab Feb thread: 22 on show, 33 to go!

lardybump · 11/02/2009 14:15

Congratulations dinky and gtdahb I am so ...

McDreamy · 11/02/2009 14:27

MarkStretch · 11/02/2009 14:31

Congrats Dinky and GTDAHB!

Still no news here from MrsY....hope she's ok....

lardybump · 11/02/2009 14:36

That is a good one mcdreamy

thehouseofmirth · 11/02/2009 14:37

Yeap that thread title is good enough for me Spotty. And especially as you went to the trouble of actually counting. Though after this morning's little incident can we trust that you got it right?!

spottyshoes · 11/02/2009 14:44

You're probably right THOM. The numbers will be wrong anyway as I couldn't account for mrsy/PT

new thread here

dinkystinky · 11/02/2009 15:04

Hello all - am home with a very snoozy little man (So different to his big brother at that age!). Thanks for all the congratulations; it was a lovely birth experience, a million times better than last time.

Quick birth story - waters went at 5.30 (just as I got up from chair in kitchen to get DS his jelly for dessert) and soaked my trousers, socks etc and kept on coming (DS told me that I had wee-wee'd myself and did I want his potty) so called DH and asked him to come home as was leaking loads of water everywhere, contractions started 5 minutes apart at around 6.30 so called the birth centre to let them know and just ramped up from there, sister arrived at 6.45 to look after DS through the night, doula arrived at 7.30, started mooing at around 8.30 and demanding we leave now to get to birth centre, got there at around 9.15ish and shown into lovely room where there was a birth pool and even though never wanted a water birth as soon as I saw it I was insistent I had to get in water NOW, got in at around 9.30ish and pushed Danny out by 9.48! We then chilled out in the pool for a bit (he was very calm and alert) and went and laid down under blankets for a bit where he had a feed, pooed on me (first of many I suspect) and I delivered the placenta (directly on to the poor midwife's foot when I stood up to deliver it). DH got to stay over (we all went into a lovely room next door and we had a nice 3 in a bed night together)... Unfortunately I probably wasnt in the water quite long enough to prevent tearing and had second degree tears to my labia (ouch emoticon) which needed stitching but hey ho, cant all be perfect! Amazingly Nkweto was right - my cold cleared up for the labour!!

Right, new thread title ideas - "Fab Feb 2009: even the big chill cant stop these mums from popping - come on babies, lets get dropping"?

GTDAHB - huge congratulations on the arrival of your little girl and your homebirth; well done you.

Rosie - sorry Milo has jaundice and you're having blood pressure worries again; hope all gets sorted soon.

Neerly - sorry you're in so much pain; I really feel for you - and you too Catstar

Hope MrsY, QK and Pinktulips are all well and look forward to hearing their news. KT and Spotty - sounds like you're not long off your turns now; please dont do anything silly (like cod liver oil or nailpolish remover, yuck!!). If you're desperate, try accupuncture or reflexology to encourage things along as your bodies are getting ready...

lovely birth story dinky - have just done my birth plan with midwife which involves water birth if pool available.

baby is 3/5ths engaged, so hoping that means things are progressing, MW doesn't want to see me for another 2 weeks by which point I'll be overdue so hoping that is tempting fate and that I don't get to see her til baby arrives!

Been thinking of names for boys today - love Sidney all of a sudden, Sid, think its dead cute. DH came up with Solomon....which really didnt appeal and doesn't go with the DT's at all.

I'm off for a snooze in front of TV til the brood comes home - take care all new mummy's and you lot that are on the verge of popping, get cracking, I need some encouragement......

PinkTulips · 12/02/2009 14:41

aaron was born at 11.57 on 9/2/09. he flew out and all went great (although mw pretty much missed the birth as she was out of the room when he decided to make a break for it and i was pushing out his shoulders when she came running in)

2 hours later he was admitted to the scbu for breathing difficulties, he got a face full of blood on the way out and aspirated on it so his lungs were full of fluid and he was puking blood.

i've just gotton home but he's still in scbu

have to get back to feed him and will be staying at my parents til he can come home as it's a bit closer to the hospital.

shattered and too tired (physically and emotioally) to give the full saga right now but hoping he'll be home at the weekend.

hope everyone else is having a better week

Neeerly3 · 13/02/2009 11:13

awwww PT, glad you have finally met your little one, but sad he's had to spend some time in SCBU. As someone who spent 8 weeks to-ing and fro-ing from SCBU, try to use the next few days to pad out your nest a bit more and rest. When you are not with him, rest as much as is humanly possible - you will benefit once he's home.

Take care and give big squidges to him from all of us
