GTDAHB That's wonderful news! Congratulations and welcome baby girl, what a good weight!

Good luck finding a name, you'll have to think of a new one for yourself now whilst your at it

mumoverseas · 11/02/2009 12:03

hello all, I'm home!
Just escaped from the hospital although they wanted me to stay in another day or two! yeah right!
Looks like I just snuck back before you've started a new thread and have pages to catch up on and no doubt lots of other birth announcements to read so will post again later with my congratulations to all the other new babies (if Harrison lets me!) x

Neeerly3 · 11/02/2009 12:05

hi all, well done GTDAHB! I am sat here with a hot bot stuck down the back of my top in between my shoulder blades as for some reason I am in agony. Not sure if I slept funny or if this chest infection is causing the top of my lungs at the back to hurt!? I have taken some paracetamol, but doesn't seem to be touching it.

Waiting for midwife to come so that i can have along hot bath when she's gone. Feel rubbish, craving a hot lemon drink but not allowed anything with decongestant in, so my face hurts too! Just caught sight of myself in the mirror too - no make up, double chin and roots in my hair are NOT a good look!

DH's birthday on Sunday, he is convinced baby will arrive and steel his thunder! Hopefully the PS3 i bought him will soften the blow!

Anyone been in touch with PT yet?

spottyshoes · 11/02/2009 12:08

Oh, thanks LLB, that is a bit I only ask as DH said last night - seeing as she could reach through to him/her, there cant have been any plug there. Assumed so too but this morning I got 2 huge blobs which were slightly old blood tinged. (The others were small and no blood)

spottyshoes · 11/02/2009 12:11

Oh no! Where is our creative editor in chief??? Dinky-doodle-doooooo...... we need some ideas for a new thread title

spottyshoes · 11/02/2009 12:12

Welcome home MOS & Harrison!!! Must say I have missed you being around at 4am our time

littleboyblue · 11/02/2009 12:13

I know spotty, how can they touch the baby if there is a big blog of mucus there? I think (was already on G&A) she said something about going up the side?

herbgarden · 11/02/2009 12:16

Congrats GTDAHB - sounds like a wonderful experience you had there.

lbb - I'm trying to keep dd awake a bit during the day as she seems to be quite wakeful and night and I can do without her getting confused with a toddler to look after too (sorry practical unemotional choice here - I'm hopeless without sleep). I tend to wake her to feed (not everyone's choice I know) - 3/4 hourly (unless she wakes herself) - then nappy change her and then plonk her on babygym thing after she's well winded and seemingly awake (she can't see anything but I feel I'm doing something) - if she gets too snuggly with me it's off to moo moo land again and she'd sleep all day if I let her. I have found she's getting a bit more "awake" now anyway during the day, but it's been nearly 3 weeks which is unsurprising for a 37 week born by c-section !

Have the in-laws over today who are entertaining DS...

spottyshoes · 11/02/2009 12:17

You may live to regret it neerly! PS3 rules the lounge in this house, all with shooty games not suitable for DC's to see so we cant go in!

Actually what am I saying!? It keep DH and his mess contained in one room and away from under my feet! Best birthday present I ever bought him

Sorry you're not feeling well, could you try hot lemonade with some honey and real/jiff lemon in?

littleboyblue · 11/02/2009 12:26

herb That's exactly it isn't it? Can't really afford to have a baby awake all night when there's a toddler awake all day!
Luke is 1 week today so feeling a bit bad that I'm trying to control his time already as know it's really early, and also while he's asleep majority of day I have same time with ds so don't think he's even noticed much of a difference, but off to buy a babygym or bouncy chair with activity bar after we have the little man registered, so see if that helps. It just seems spending all the time stuck in the mosses basket is making me feel like I'm ignoring him and I might feel better if he's out.......
Right, they're both asleep so I'm going back to bed, see if I can sleep these post aches and pains off.....

Neeerly3 · 11/02/2009 12:28

thats an idea spotty! will ask midwife wot she recommends too, although she seems pretty useless so far (only seen her once, my original one has left on mat leave) and she cancelled last week cos of snow - even though she was calling from doctors surgery which is a 5 min walk from my house!

DH will be contained to the bedroom as the tele downstairs apparently is not suitable (not HD or summut), and if we get some good games, it could be I will benefit from it too while on mat leave!? I have a DS (nintendo, not a son!) too, so have got plenty to keep my brain in tip top condition!

I wish this baby would make a move, I am dying to be able to put my own shoes on, have a proper wee, not just a trickle each time and be able to walk from sofa to kitchen without taking two rest breaks....I think my curiosity about what the later stages of pregnancy feel like have been saited and I will not be doing this again!

swampster · 11/02/2009 12:28

Welcome home, Harrison!

And second the hot lemon and honey, Neeeerly. I also have a humidifier which has been a real life saver for me.

Another trick is to get a bowl of steaming hot water, add a few drops of karvol/vicks/olbas (or not), cover your head with a towel over said bowl, and b r e a t h e.

Or have a shower or steam up the bathroom an spend some time in there.

Neeerly3 · 11/02/2009 12:33

thanks swamps, will be trying all of those once I can be confident I am not due any more visitors.....all that steam will help my skin too i guess!

mslucy · 11/02/2009 12:36

from dinky....

"Hello - Daniel Nikhil born last night at around 9:50ish after just under 5 hours of labour. He is 8lb 6oz and is born in water and is v calm"

Congrats dinky on your little man.

mslucy · 11/02/2009 12:39

hope that makes sense as am typing one handed as I feed the ever more ravenous Stanley.

Am expecting a mammoth weight gain to rival that of MS's Frank.

At least my nipples are healing and are now merely painful as opposed to screamingly painful.

mumoverseas · 11/02/2009 12:44

OMG, its taken me ages to read the 15 pages I've missed whilst in hospital.
Congratulations to all the new arrivals, well done McDreamy (all that worrying about getting to hospital on Tuesday for nothing )
congratulations also to FGPL?, dinky, GTDHB and I know there were some others but have total baby brain after 3 nights of very little sleep so will have to re-read and re-post when the cotton wool that was my brain clears.

spotty, its nice to have been missed but I imagine that now there are so many babies around more people will be up at 4am your time but just won't have time to post
nail varnish remover!!!! bloody hell, are you ok?

rosieposey · 11/02/2009 12:45

GTDAHB congrats on your baby girl - well done

Cant possibly catch up as much as id like to but thought id put my head in and say hello.

Midwife weighed Milo yesterday and hes lost just over the allowed 10 percent of weight so they are coming back today to weigh him again. He had jaundice and she thinks thats why it might be but she has asked me to top up BF with formula which i am doing now as am worried that he will have to go back into hospital. BP is also a bit as it was fine after the delivery but the last two days has gone up again - they said i didnt need any more medication but as its going back up again i suppose that is debateable.

LLB afterpains here too but not nearly as bad as DD3 probably because it was a section but you have my greatest sympathies as they are bloody horrid and can be unbearable.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok with their lo's am much less achy now too which is good although feel like killing DH everytime he makes me laugh cause its still very tender but am definately on the mend i think now and am not bothering with painkillers or anything.

No word from MrsY or PT yet or did i miss any posts? Hope everyone else who is waiting is doing ok ... not long to go now

rosieposey · 11/02/2009 12:48

Ohhh congrats to you Swampy thats wonderful news and welcome home to Harrison MOS

rosieposey · 11/02/2009 12:53

Bugger! babybrain here - i meant congratulations Dinky (and swampy too but have already said that) Sounds like a lovely quick labour and am glad your little man is here safe and sound x

chilledmama · 11/02/2009 12:55

mark as going for a snooze...well I'm going to go and nake one of the beds that DS puked in this morningthen climb in it and pass out!!!

chilledmama · 11/02/2009 12:57

So if Dinky has been off popping her baby out...does that mean we have to come up with a thread title ourselves

spottyshoes · 11/02/2009 13:00

Way to go Dinky!!! Welcome Daniel Quick labour too!

Well ladies - best get our own thinking caps on as our resident thread maker sems to be a bit busy at the mo any ideas?

Rosie - sorry they have you worried about Milo's weight. We had to take DS back to hospital at 10days as he kept losing, some babies lose more than others tho and was nothing to worry about, hope he picks up a bit soon.

thehouseofmirth · 11/02/2009 13:18

Dinky congratulations & welcome Daniel. Birth sounds fab.

So does yours GTDAHB

My due date today so I'm just relaxing safe in the knowlede that today is NOT the day. Can go back to impatience tomorrow.

Suprised there's still no news from PT. Hope it's all gone well for MrsY too.

Mind has gone totally blank on a new thread title but we'll have to get cracking soon.

justme85 · 11/02/2009 13:32

herbgarden · 11/02/2009 13:41

Congrats Dinky - another lovely name and sounds like it all went well for you. Funny, I was just thinking as I logged on this morning that we hadn't heard from you in a wee while and thought you might have had him....
