Dinky-thanks for comments. Have updated about canula definately...not that bothered about seeing birth. emoticon. I've also added a line about not giving breast milk substitute unless I pop my clogs...

nkweto · 01/02/2009 22:34

Hey MrsY, been lurking on your other thread.. think most people here have said anything I would have to contribute...

Definately dont think that you have made your DH sound nasty in the slightest and you sound like a great team.. would echo what others have said.. concentrate on the next few weeks and get used to the little one first, then you can both decide the best way forward..

MamaGoose.. we obviously have very comfortable (or lazy even ) babies !

pluto · 01/02/2009 22:45

We have had a very busy few days - so just been lurking and skimming but I'm still here! Congrats on the new arrivals!! Good luck to those of you being sectioned tomorrow and just think - you'll be able to tell your little ones they were born in worst snow to hit the UK in 6 years. Please take lots of care getting to your hospitals All the staff will understand if you are delayed and would prefer you to arrive late rather than stressed. I'll be thinking of you all and look forward to hearing all about the lovely babies and their arrivals.

swampster · 01/02/2009 23:50

Huge congratulations O&U! - hurry up and post your birth story (like in the next five minutes), I have to go in tomorrow and it is past my bedtime already and I need news!

onwardandupward · 01/02/2009 23:54

ok, try again...

waters went thursday evening just as leaving work

mild tightenings all night, up to every five mins in the morning. mw said I should do something active to get it going, so went for an hour's walk across the downs... last three tightenings before getting to my friends house I had to stop walking for, so it was getting going.

so really into established labour around 2pm

at about 540pm (apparently) I said I didn't think I could go on with this much longer (yeah yeah yeah classic transition). Stood up from kneeling. Huge contraction and push. Panicked, got on floor with bum in air. Midwife suggested I have a feel to see how close babe was... less than a finger length! so up on hands and knees breathed through a second push et voila!

placenta plopped out on its own about 55 mins later.

2 hours later back home from my friend's house eating MUCH toast!

no tears despite speed of arrival!

onwardandupward · 01/02/2009 23:54

and I've be4en thinking of the monday girls all the time!!! hope all goes swimmingly

swampster · 02/02/2009 00:05

That's lovely - you really know how to weave your own babies!

See you all on the other side.

chilledmama · 02/02/2009 00:22

Swampster- Go to bed you mad woman! I bet you have a really early start and your chances of lots of sleep afterwards are slim!

chilledmama · 02/02/2009 01:14

going to try going to bed now but really not tired but still can't be bothered doing any housework or anything else productive for that matter!

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 02/02/2009 02:14

I?m shattered! I woke up this morning to Mum telling me that Tink needed to see a doctor (very wheezy) so I tried to get her ready with baby attached to my breast whilst her dad dropped my dad off so we could have the car. When he got back I called the out of hours emergency GP and find we have to go to the other side of the city, I guess the local centres were closed. TBD doesn?t know how to get to the centre so I had to get up to go with him, skipping breakfast. Got there and they tried to put her on the nebuliser but she does her usual rabid dog impression so he took her off. He listened to her chest to see if it had made a difference, it had and he was happy to send her home with instructions for increasing her blue. Got back into his consulting room (literally next door) and he said ?are you wheezing again?? listened to her chest and she was, he was shocked! He said he?d never heard of it before (and his son has had a cardiac arrest from an asthma attack so he has experience of asthma) and sent us round to the children?s ward where we stayed till nearly 8pm. I went to the loo about 11pm just after dinner!

Lol Spotty, your poor husband! Has he forgiven you? (and you him )

Calico, tell him my OH was in the corridor for mine and he wishes he could have been there. I?m sure he would regret not being there, the end will overshadow the means!

Dinky, I?m glad to hear I?m in for a prize! I?m a little though, I didn?t mean to go so long but it couldn?t really be cut off when she was still in hospital The shortcuts haven?t changed, you still do [ [www.whatever.com text] ] to do links.

Happy belated birthday Rosie.

Coco, if you are 38 weeks get the size you are but you need it doing up on the loosest hook and you should be able to put your hand in the top of the cup (like you?re swearing in the US lol)

QK the advice I was given was to take paracetamol like a course, every four hours. If that doesn?t work do the same with co-codamol then if that doesn?t work get a prescription for co-dydramol. I keep being told ?it?s not pain relief, it?s medication for your back? but I?m still trying to convince myself.

This thread is playing up so I?ll add more later.

MarkStretch · 02/02/2009 07:32

Thinking of everyone going in today!

My mum's flights have been cancelled.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck.

mumoverseas · 02/02/2009 07:57

oh shit MS, that is awful. Do you have a plan B?
Can't remember if you are booked for CS or awaiting a 'normal' delivery?

rosieposey · 02/02/2009 08:02

Monday c sectioners, your all on my mind

MS so sorry to hear about your mums flight, she should get in later today or first thing tomorrow though right? Which airport is she coming into?

TBM poor Tink, i hope she is ok. This weather is playing havoc with mine and DD3's chest and it looks like DD3 is in for a course of prendnisilone cause she really is waking up during the night and stuff

ONWARDS ... fab birth story! You made it sound so easy and those really are the most gorgeous photos too!

Just sorting out my playlist for Fridays section, bit of The Killers, bit of Etta James bit of Sigur Ros should sort my nerves out ... actually they probably wont as am bricking it but hey ho you can but try

MarkStretch · 02/02/2009 08:04

I'm booked in tomorrow for a CS.

She lives in such a rural area there are 2 flights a week, on a Monday or a Thursday.

Neeerly3 · 02/02/2009 08:07

very jealous of everyone meeting babies today.....Today starts my 3 weeks (at least) of lazing about the house - any ideas of what I can do?! I have one chore to do which is to take car to garage and get heating sorted - so I may do that early on so as to leave me the rest of the day to watch day time TV.

Had what you might call an 'evacuation' yesterday evening, and then twinges all through Lost, but this morning everything seems to be back to normal....Piles are playing me up though! What made me think Pregnancy was serene and wonderful all those months ago?

mumoverseas · 02/02/2009 08:08

according to BBC website LGW and Stanstead (think thats where she was flying into?) are open now although they did have some cancellations.
If she can't fly into Stanstead now MS could she fly to LGW. I know its a bit of a drive but at least she'd be the right side of the channel?

rosieposey · 02/02/2009 08:22

Sorry i am getting my births confuddled Gorgeous photos from IDBL even!

Shit MS i didnt realise your section was booked in tomorrow thought it was Weds for some reason. Is there any way that she can drive to another airport and wait till they are flying out? I know its a long shot but i think they have only cancelled temporarily in the UK anyway.

McDreamy · 02/02/2009 08:25

No doubt you have all left by now but thinking of you CS ladies this mornings! Have lots of lovely cuddles with your precious babies, looking forward to names, weights and photos later in the week

mumoverseas · 02/02/2009 08:29

oh shit MS, what are you going to do? Is there anyone else that can have your DD when you go in? Makes all my whinges pale into insignificance

swampster · 02/02/2009 08:32

MarkStreeeeeeeeeeetch! ((((((((((huuuuuuuuuugs))))))))))

I am stuck at home. Cab was supposed to pick us up at 7am - it is now 8.30 and they have no cabs in sight...

Buses are suspended, tubes are mostly not running. Hospital says stay put,

I hope DS3 listens...

Wonder if I can eat anything now or not?

Outlaws are here and could, possibly drive us but we can hardly see their car at the moment as it is covered with snow. It probably wouldn't make it.

mumoverseas · 02/02/2009 08:32

could your DD's father (in Ireland?) get over and have her? You poor thing, you don't need all this shit at the moment. very unmumsnet hugs from Saudi xxx

rosieposey · 02/02/2009 08:35

Swampster what a pain! Did the hospital say to come in later if the weather eases up? Not sure it is going to tbh till much later - not sure about the nosh either I think id be chowing down by now though

swampster · 02/02/2009 08:37

They said they would phone back I think at the moment if we made it to the hospital I'd probably have to do my own section as the staff can't get in!

McDreamy · 02/02/2009 08:38

Oh Swampster how frustrating
