I'm having my stitches out today.

My legs aren't going to fall off are they?

herbgarden · 10/02/2009 09:37

Sympathies with the insomnia KT it's horrible as you do feel quite wide awake don't you - I suffered with it too but got through lots of books. I read rather than tossed and turned it was much more productive. The only thing was that I'd often fall asleep quite well then around 5am only to be woken by DS at about 6ish.....

Had a baaad night last night. DD decided to wake at 12.45am for a feed (from 10pm). DS then woke at 2.45am after I'd managed to drop off at about 1.40am, very upset at being hot under his duvet, demanded his grobag back and wanted the duvet put back in the cupboard . DD then woke too but she seemed windy so I cuddled her and gave her a dummy til around 3.30am as I didn't want to "overload" her - she's a windy thing. DH was wandering around looking lost. I gave DS a cuddle, left DD to cry, fed DD eventually and at 3.45am after which peace finally reigned in the herbhouse we all fell asleep......til DH got up at 6.30am.

Am off to the doctors today for him to take a look at my wound......

It is still raining here !!!

herbgarden · 10/02/2009 09:39

MS - No-one told me to go back and have stitches out so I presume that mine are dissolvable ?? I don't remember having them out last time either..... Different hospitals must do different things?

Don't think your legs will fall off by the way

littlesez · 10/02/2009 10:31

I know this is probably far too late now but ive just found a homeopathic remedy that i wanted to tell you about (maybe for the next pregnancy!) A few weeks ago i started getting pains in my hips/groin and got really bad where i was crying trying to get up the stairs or walking for a long time. (but i am soft!) I've always been into homeopathy and there are some well known remedies that really work like arnica(In my bag ready for after labour!) Anyway I tried Ruta graveolens and its a million times better! so if there is anyone who still has a couple of weeks left and having same problem its worth a try you can get it from boots i think or holland and barrett may do it.

Love to all mums, bumps and babes xxx

KT1983 · 10/02/2009 11:07

Ok - I dont know what to do!
Im sat here watching this morning, stood up to walk to the kitchen & felt a trickle of fluid down my leg, only a small amount.
Ive had BH thoughout the night, but no contractions.

Perhaps my waters? Or just a leaky bladder? (sorry) I dont know what to do, I dont know whether to call midwife, as Id be a bit embarrassed if id just pee'd myself without realising??
Help!!!

DizzyBrummie · 10/02/2009 11:11

Call your midwife anyway, she'll tell you what to do for the best.

MarkStretch · 10/02/2009 11:29

Herb- mine were dissolvable first time around but this time I had to have them out. And I get to keep them- how cool!

They have just been and weighed Frank, he was 7lb 1oz on Friday when we left hospital- he's now 8lb 4oz! So he's put on over a pound in 4 days! I figured that's my license to eat loads more cake as my milk is obviously doing the trick

MarkStretch · 10/02/2009 11:30

KT- call the midwife- they can test and see if it's your waters or just wee. I'm sure they won't mind. HOW exciting would it be if they said it WAS your waters! Woop woop!

littleboyblue · 10/02/2009 11:38

KT I agree, call your mw, and if it turns out you've just wet yourself a bit, at least it wasn't all over the midwife like I did!!
I do hope this is the start for you though.

MS Frankie's a little podger then. Fantastic

LittleMissNorty · 10/02/2009 12:07

Morning

Struggling to keep up I'm afriad.....am knackered, but happy. going from 1 to 2 is hard work, but beginning to fall into place a bit more now, and I'm getting a little more mobile.

Can't believe DS is over a week old....he was weighed yesterday and has gone from 6lb 13oz at birth to 7lb in 7 days, so not bad....not quite like DS MarkStretch !

Having a few issues with my wound....leaking blood stained fluid galore so have a pad up against it (thought I was wetting myself at first!) and have a massive haematoma (huge blood clot under the skin) which is very sore....and then lots of fresh blisters / raw skin from the dressing. Think I still have my UTI as well, so off to docs tomorrow.

Congratulations to all the new mummies...have we heard from QK or PT yet? Been looking at all the photos on FB and they are gorgeous!

catstar · 10/02/2009 12:34

LMN - sorry to hear about your wound troubles - sounds very uncomfortable and not what you need right at the moment. glad your little one is putting on weight nicely.

LBB and MS - sounds like your little boys are doing really well too !

Herbgarden - sounds like a very disturbed night and just the sort of thing I'm dreading really. The weather doesn't help at the moment- I'm getting cabin fever with all this rain.

KT - you never know, this could be the start of something special . See what your midwife thinks!

Dinky - I sympathise with you on the cold. I've got a stinker and it's making things extra hard. Really don't think I have the energy to give birth at the moment, although I'm starting to feel very uncomfortable with all the aching etc.

Feeling guilty as DD has become a realy tele addict - but hopefully this will help me int he next few months with DS's arrival.

Right, time to put DD down for nap (not worked out for the last couple of days the little minx). Am impatient for more new arrivals!!!

KazzaL · 10/02/2009 12:40

Hello - all these new fab feb babies - last time I checked in there were only 4 and now loads have arrived - so congratulations to all the mummies and i hope everything is going ok.

today is "d" day, but no real signs of anything happening yet, but I don't really want No2 to arrive till at least the weekend, so I don't mind. Last friday was my last day at work - I managed to make it in to the office, but there was only 6 in out of a team of about 50, so I went in yesterday to say goodbye to everyone, collect my pressie & card and take in the obligitory cake mountain for them all to scoff.

Now I've finsihed work I'll be able to check in much more regularly although was too busy yeatersday even to turn the computer on!! Keep getting texts from MIL in spain asking if anything happening and then my mum calls and asks if I've had any twinges yet - don't they all understand we'll call them as soon as there is some news!!

KazzaL · 10/02/2009 12:48

catstar my DS wakes up and demands to watch "Harry" and likewise when he gets back in the evening from nursery - i think it is one of those things you just have to accept is going to happen for a few weeks/months

herbgarden · 10/02/2009 12:50

KT any news - sounds to me like a waters breaking....let's hope so !

LMN - sorry to hear about your wound - I've just been given anti-b's by the doc for mine which is apparently a bit infected....

I really need a nap today - my mum is here cooking up some food for DS so I might escape whilst DD is sleeping.....

Calico1 · 10/02/2009 13:05

KazzaL - I know what you mean. I feel like I'm being stalked by my mum and MIL. They were frantic yesterday as they both phoned when I had popped over the road to the shop. They then called each other and talked themselves into a complete frenzy! I think they were disappointed when I called them back to say I was back in the house....

KT - that sounds hopeful....mine went like that last time.

LMN - sounds nasty, hope you get it sorted quickly.

Cocodrillo · 10/02/2009 13:06

Re ARM I had my waters broken when I went into hospital with my DD2 to induce labour.

The MW told me to have a go on the G+A and I remember saying oh man, that means it's really going to hurt doesn't it? But to be honest I didn't feel a thing with the G+A, and then I went into labour VERY quickly. So for me, not a bad experience, and it definitely worked. I was 14 days overdue by then though.

KazzaL · 10/02/2009 13:21

calico1 - i had a day like that when I waiting waiting for DS to arrive, I'd gone into town and met a friend for lunch, but there was no mobile reception in the pub in question and my phone ran out of power too, so by the time I got back home, the mums, siblings and friends were all frantic and I had lots of "phone me" emails & messages. I'm bored already after 1.5 days of mat leave even with a big list of jobs to do - i'm not going to sit at home twiddling my thumbs and just wait for No2 to arrive

spottyshoes · 10/02/2009 13:40

Good choice KT re caster oil, imagine going into labour with D&V - not pleasant Have you seen your MW yet?

Good luck MS, it's only your pelvic floor that falls away never to be seen again, not your legs

LMN Ouch, sounds painful. Hope the Dr can sort it out quickly for you

You're right Dinky, I'm labouring vacariously through GTDAHB. Although seems I missed swampy too last night with my dodgy internet connection. Sorry your feeling so rough with the nasty cold

GTDAHB. Hope things are progressing nicely.

LBB & Coco. I cant have the gel, only the ARM and drip. I'm not too bothered about the pain but really pleased to hear you both went on to have VB's as I didn't know if it regularly didn't work for some reason and people ended up having EmCS!

pluto · 10/02/2009 13:44

Calico - My 96 year old granny left 6 messages on the answerphone last month in just one day - when I hadn't even started mat leave - asking if the baby had come, asking was I in hospital, telling me she was so excited / worried. Bless her. I think she got the start of my maternity leave and my due date confused.

So, it's the final countdown to Friday in our household. Been to shops and stocked up on dried apricots for the momentous first poo! I hear what you are saying Rosieposey about being sensible about taking enough time in hospital to recover post CS before coming home - but like you I know I will really want to come home to a clean bathroom and my own bed. The midwives at the hospital I'm delivering in are great - but understaffed and stretched -it's also one of the two hospitals which has been in the centre of the West Kent filthy hospitals scandal that I think the whole country knows about! It's really putting me off spending time there - but common sense tells me that they will have been forced to clean up their act since i had DS 9 years ago.

I hope all the new mums and the babies are snuggling and that DPs / DHs are looking after you properly!

dinkystinky · 10/02/2009 13:54

Wow - there is actually some sunshine outside my window as I type this - how exciting!!

Spotty - I had my waters broken when induced with DS (had been in early labour for 2 days and was 2 cm already) - didnt really notice it to be honest (apart from the incredibly undignified position i had to be in for it) but god there was LOTS of water in there - I was gushing away for ages. Then got rather painful, but I think it was the syntocin drip rather than anything else.

Catstar - sorry about you suffering from a cold too; its miserable isnt it.

KT - hope you've gone in to get checked out. Had something similar when pregnant with DS and turned out was just extra runny mucus - yuck! Hope your moistness is much more productive - especially after everything you've been doing to encourage little one out.

KazzaL - congrats for being on maternity leave at long last; hope you get to chill and enjoy a bit of you time before bubs turns up.

Herb - sorry you had a terrible night last night; does your DH not hear when DS is awake? Surely it would be better if you could focus on DD and he focus on DS (so at least you get some respite)when they wake at nights? Hope you get a good nap in and that your children sleep alot better tonight.

MS - good luck with getting the stitches removed. Cant believe you get to keep them. And what are you eating to make Frankie put on weight like that??? That's astounding!

LMN - glad things are settling down but ouch, your C-sec site sounds painful. Hope doctor sorts you out.

Not much to report on here - snotmonster (aka DS) seems a little better today so we went to playgroup this morning (where there were another 3 heavily pregnant mums all due in Feb - one this week, one at the weekend, me due next week and then one due the following week - the playgroup leader kept going round telling us not to go into labour) and heading out to gymboree this afternoon. Feeling quite pleased I'm getting to have a couple of days of doing something nice with DS rather than feeling housebound...

Those of you with new babies who need to sleep will be glad to know that you don't live on my road. Some guys have just turned up with a pneumatic drill and are going hell for leather on digging it up. They had better complete whatever they are doing by the time I'm coming home on Monday or there will be very angry new mum to contend with. I think it's just a spot of pothole filling in but I'm going to be brave and look out the window in a minute [hmmn]

pluto · 10/02/2009 13:59

even

dinkystinky · 10/02/2009 14:03

Pluto - Thames Bloody Water periodically decide to dig up the road just outside our house too (did it 2 days after we moved in last year - for weeks! - and again earlier this year, with no warning, when I was home ill with flu, was not bloody impressed)... I'd go out and find out how long they're going to be at it if there were no parking suspension etc signs up...

yes you can have G&A in the pool, just not pethidine I think. I've used it twice before anyway.

My pool has been emptied cleaned and refilled and is just waiting for a baby really.

Due today and m/w doing second sweep tomorrow if no show by then.

Lots of BH and pant snot, but child still clinging on

Feels very low actually, everytime I stand up she feels as if she's hanging between my legs.
