spottyshoes · 09/02/2009 13:01

Great minds Lardy. Just finishing one

lardybump · 09/02/2009 13:06

bleugh I only have the powder and it is yuck.... but needs must.....

Neeerly3 · 09/02/2009 13:07

how does one make a cumin tea, is it as simple as it sounds? teaspoon of seeds and hot water?

spottyshoes · 09/02/2009 13:11

Only have the powder until the shopping is delivered tomorrow.

I presume you would crush the seeds neerly? Add loads of honey and let it settle - then dont drink the last cm or so as the powder collects at the bottom.

Foul stuff

Thanx everyone for advice re bottles/feeding. herb that's exactly what I did with ds1, although had to start warming as he had very stubborn wind and warmer milk helps, it is so much easier at room temp though isn't it?
MoS Big congrats!! Again, I love the name Harrison, it was on one of our lists for a while
herb hope your scar's a bit better
MS re poo. My nan always said child birth was like having a big poo. After feeling every massive little tear, I'm not so sure........had the same relief after though!
Oh, and about the 1st poo, I remember how last time that was the worst bit of child birth so this time I told all the mw's at hos that I felt like I really needed to go. They said my body would be on shut down for at least 3 days so I shouldn't need to go, I said I did and that I could feel the pressure everytime I moved and they gave me stuff to help, made it all so much easier, I went within 24hrs and even now, it nice and easy. Would def recommend you ask for something just to take the edge off, even if you feel fine.

PT spotty am very excited for you both..........

Well, re baby holding, minew has been having hugs but he sleeps alot so I don't hold him then, I don't feel guilty......
I slept yesterday from midday til 6, in bed at 12:30 (after baby's last feed) he was wide awake so dp sat up with him and I slept til 4am when he fed again and then got back into bed until 11am. I am ready for bed again now. I am absolutely exhausted! Have knocked the cleaning and even the tidying on the head, there are toys everywhere, scratch mits, bibs etc, the place looks like a shit-pit and is pissing me off. The baby sleeps constantly and ds1 is happy doing whatever on his own.
We are off to clinic in a bit, just my luck for it to be raining!

I'd just like to mention that I do not remember the after pains being this bad.
Hope everyone else ok.....

swampster · 09/02/2009 13:44

I've heard after-pains get worse with each baby but right now I'm on strong meds so not really aware of them.

chilledmama · 09/02/2009 13:45

I wonder if PT got to hospital in time or is having cuddle with new baby on hard shoulder somewhere???[curious emoticon]

thehouseofmirth · 09/02/2009 14:32

Afternoon!

It's 2.30pm and I expected PT to be back at home with a baby by now. What's going on?!

When the list is next updated someone needs to move Rosie up & update her details. Hopefullly Baby Father Christmas will then sense we are moving up the list and make some effort to start packing his bags...

spottyshoes · 09/02/2009 14:36

The cx seem to have miraculously stopped either that or I was simply too shattered to care. I've just had a half hour nap [groggy]

LBB how did you find ARM?

herbgarden · 09/02/2009 14:49

Well HV paid me a visit this morning. DD is now over 6lbs (well 6lbs 3oz to be precise !) - Am very excited as clearly she decided on a milk fest this week and is catching up. On the downside she does think that my scar is a bit infected so I'm off to the doctors tomorrow to to see what he says and perhaps get some anti - b's.

Despite me saying I'd get out in the rain for a walk it really is so revolting out there - absolutely chucking it down - I'm not sure that I can face it.......

Currently half way through my tv watching ! Have managed a few loads of washing though so don't feel too guilty and a nap at lunchtime when DD was in bed. DS home shortly as my mum is picking him up from nursery. First night of tea bath and bed alone - do I have enough pairs of hands ??! Have juggled DS's routine a bit so that he can have his evening tv watching whilst I feed DD so that he's distracted for a while after a quick dunk in the bath. DD seems to love the bath and it revives her enough to get her to take a good bottle before she goes down - it's tricky all this !

Byee for now

Right must go

swampster · 09/02/2009 15:32

Isn't it known as a wound where you are, herb? Hope any yuckiness clears up soon.

dinkystinky · 09/02/2009 16:11

Hello all. GTDAHB - welcome to the fab feb thread... hope you're well on the way to delivering your little one.

So exciting about Pinktulips - hope her mother finally turned up and she made it to the hospital in time. Hopefully all that adrenaline caused by her mother caused her labour to slow down enough for her to get to hospital...

Spotty - get back to bed lady. Am sure the contractions will be back soon enough...

MrsY -sorry you're in so much pain. The back pain sounds like your pelvis is moving around in preparation for labour (and maybe like Madam is going back to back) - one way to relieve it is go on hand and knees (make sure heart is higher than hips though so gravity is still assisting any contractions you're having) and get someone to press down on your sacrum (end of spine where it meets your bum). Is BLISS as unlocks the back. Hope your MIL session helped and that it all went well at DAU....

Herb - sorry to hear about possible infection; hope it clears up quickly with drugs. Hurrah for DD putting on weight too. Also, good luck with tea and bathtime tonight...

Neerly - sorry to hear about the laryngitis. Hope you're not suffering and enjoying the bed rest..

Torrential rain all day here - though managed to get DS over to his music group this morning which he loved and tried to take him to his swimming class this afternoon - only to have walked 40 minutes through the rain to get there to find it was cancelled. Not impressed - particularly as had soggy 40 minutes walk back home ahead of me...

dinkystinky · 09/02/2009 16:12

ps KT - midwife probably meant your shape rather than your size. Apparently some people think they can tell when someone is going to go into labour from how the shape of the bump changes - not too sure I believe in that one really...

KT1983 · 09/02/2009 16:16

ahh, Yeah, that would make a litle more sense. Although a bit about that too.

McDreamy · 09/02/2009 16:34

I have quite bad after pains, esp when feeding but as Swampster says it's supposed to get worse the more children to have - def worse this time than the last 2.

My birth story isn't very exciting really. I started having painful tightenings on Friday afternoon. DH called the delivery ward just for advice as to when they would want me to come in and they said now - which we weren't expecting!

So off we went, very tentatice journey through the snow to hospital. Put on the monitor, everything stopped. A very abrasive registrar came in and said go home and come back if you get to 1 in 3!!!!!!! The midwife looked quite alarmed at this and of course we wouldn't have left til then after 2 sections.

He left and the midwife told us to wait, after consulting with a colleague she said they weren't happy with the doctors decision and wanted me to go to the antenatal ward for a couple of hours first. So up I went. DH went home, I was given some food and the tightenings came back.

The monitor was strapped on and they became more and more frequent and more painful - back down to delivery. Seen by a consultant this time who said she wanted to section me but couldn't yet because I had eaten. This was about 6pm anaesthetist decided 10pm would be a good time. Abigail born at 11pm.

She was very sleepy for the first 24 hours and didn't really feed also quite mucosy which didn't help. Hand expressed into her mouth every 3-4 hours, hard work because she was not interested. Came to life yesterday a bit more and last night she was fab and is now waking every 3 - 4 hours for a feed. So different from my other 2 who latched on and fed straight away.

That's it really, discharged yesterday afternoon. Not very exciting but we are smitten

dinkystinky · 09/02/2009 16:40

McDreamy - what a horrible registrar! Glad all went well, despite the snow, and Abigail has woken up and is feeding well now...

gtdahb-Sending you lovely HB vibes...I love HBs...looking forward to my own V soon

spottyshoes · 09/02/2009 16:58

GTDAHB - Yay! Hope your HB is everything you want it to be

McD what a crap Reg, good job the MW's had a bit about them!

spottyshoes · 09/02/2009 16:59

Dinky - you should put yourself on lockdown in bad weather, it's most satisfactory

thehouseofmirth · 09/02/2009 19:02

Still no news from PT? McD that's rubbish. Hurrah for sensible MW though.

Have managed to not cry all day today. Took DS to park where we made sandcastles in the driving rain. After nursery we went to friend's house where I got to sit on the sofa for 2 hours so all in all quite good.

Realised today though that next week is half term so it's sods law that I will go in to labour towards the end of next week having had an exhausting week of entertaining DS. Must get out diary and arrange playdates!
