Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
McDreamy · 06/02/2009 08:50

Have just phoned up to find out if the clinic is still on, have to call back at 0930 to see what staff have come into work. My dad will take me in as DH still away . I am so worried they will cancel Tuesday!!!

onwardandupward · 06/02/2009 08:50

I do actually have three packs of reuswable breastpads in this house which I could really use. But can I find them? can I heck as like.

McDreamy · 06/02/2009 08:52

Rosie - good luck can't wait to hear your news!

Oooh MrsY hope this is it for you and you are cuddling you new baby

Calico1 · 06/02/2009 08:57

McDreamy I'm sure it'll be ok for Tues....weather should have improved?
My DH just arrived back home after 45mins of driving which got him exactly 1 mile up the road. Be careful out there if you do have to go in today.

MOS unfortunately we don't get a refund as it is not their fault the nursery is closed and they have to pay the staff anyway.....ggrrrrrhhhhh. Enjoy your fete today.

herbgarden · 06/02/2009 09:03

morning.
I'm more than happy to stay here....just didn't want to bore you all with the sleeping and feeding habits of our lo's.....not sure how I'd have got through the last 8 months without you all....[sentimental emoticon]....so will not desert ! We can then just drift into post natal chat....

CONGRATS LBB on the safe arrival of Luke- it was quiet round here for a few days ...you chatterbox you. Looking forward to hearing your "story" when you're feeling a bit more human.

Rosie can't wait to hear your news soon.

Lo is upping the ante on her feeding thank goodness. HV is coming on Monday and I really hope she's put a bit of weight on. Not that I was really worried but as she didn't put any weight on in a week (still at her leaving hospital weight) despite feeding her 3 hourly (waking her if I had to since all she's done is sleeeeeep) I had to try to shove more in her. She's a vommy baby and I think, like her brother, suffers with wind quite a bit. We're on to the leg cycling, massage now to try and get those burps up otherwise the poor little thing grimaces her way through her feed. She goes down in the evening after feeding for an hour and then wakes up about 8 to whinge her way through to her next feed. DH is now bringing her down and propping her in her chair so we all get some peace and I can go to bed....last night he went out....so I had her all evening, dropped off, did a feed at midnight, dh rolled in, he did the 3.30am feed and I got up with them both at 6.45am. Put her back to bed so am trying to spend some quality time with DS....Left DH in bed so that hopefully he's not a whingebag all day. I am almost looking forward to him going back to work - he's moaned about being tired/the weather/ what shall we do with DS. At least on my own I can just get on with it - sometimes it's like having 3 kids. I really must come back as a man ! .

spottyshoes · 06/02/2009 09:25

Lol onward, I did that last time and ended up buying more. Couldn't find them amongst the baby stuff this time either so bought MORE. Yes, have found them all now and have about 30 pairs

Enjoy your Sports day MOS - no doing the marathon, highjump or anything now d'ya hear? face painting and eating allowed

on your behalf Calico! Surely if the staff go in and they still have to pay them, they can open up? It's then up to parents if they dont want to brave the snow!

Herb - Glad you're staying! and PMSL @ coming back as a man - Me too please! Fingers x'd she's put some weight on this week. DS lost 9oz (quite a bit for a 6.12'er) in the 1st 2 weeks and I was under massive pressure from the MW to mix feed He was a bit of a vommy burpy baby too. Ohhhh you're bringing it all back to me!

Take Care out there McD x

idontbelieveit · 06/02/2009 09:35

Congrats LBB! Welcome luke.

OandU i totally agree re tandem feeding, had a wet bed this morning from milk, i'm going through the breast pads like nobody's business.

Rosie - good luck

THOM - so sorry re dh's job. thinking of you.

mos - enjoy your day out

mrsY - hope you're having yur baby!

had a good night, LO slept from 12-5:30 and is still asleep now. Going to wake her at 10 and force feed her as my boobs will explode otherwise!

Overdid it the last 2 days and now my blood loss has increased, got to take it easy over the weekend, dh back at work on monday still not quite sure how i'm going to cope with two.

McDreamy · 06/02/2009 10:01

Hmmm have just attempted the journey, got to the top of our road and turned back - no way are we going to make it through! Phoned hospital they said they would be back in contact to reschedule- hope that just means my pre op and not my section

McDreamy · 06/02/2009 10:02

Calico I really hope we don't go into labour! This is the one day I am praying our babies stay put!

mumoverseas · 06/02/2009 10:05

McDreamy, I'm sure they won't cancel Tuesday, as surely they understand that babies don't just wait for good weather try not to worry too much about it.

Calico, agree with spotty on the nursery

herby, good news that Amy's feeding has increased

IDBI, thats a pretty good amount of sleep for a newborn. My DD only started sleeping that long at about 18 months. This one WILL be different (keep repeating......)
Try and slow down a bit and get some rest over the weekend, particularly as your DH is going back to work. Rest as much as you can and let him wait on you hand and foot [wink}

right, off for a waddle, looks like a sodding sandstorm is on its way though

swampster · 06/02/2009 10:08

McDreamy, my pre-op was a total non-event. The person who should have done it was away (and this was pre-snow!) so I was given the info and consent form to take away and read, to be signed on the day. They couldn't even dispense the antacid to be taken the night before (had to remind them on the day). All they did was check my bloods to see if I was fit for surgery. So if they they pull that trick, tell them to sort it out when you arrive for your CS because they certainly can!

KT1983 · 06/02/2009 10:27

Ok, so I am officially pissed off with the weather!!
I do love snow, but this is getting annoying.
Like a few of you, cant get to hospital appointment today.
Lets just hope she doesnt choose to come today - DP is probably going to be stuck for a train back home now

Im going to attempt a walk to the shops to get some food in, sitting in all day drives me nuts.

Be careful to any others heading out today

PinkTulips · 06/02/2009 10:33

rosie.... good luck

THOM, i'm so sorry you've had such shit news now of all times hopefully something will work itself out though. {{{{hugs}}}}

mrsy.... good luck if this is it

great to hear from lbb, i was just coming on to check for her too as was a little worried when we hadn't heard. congrats on the birth of luke babe and can't wait to hear how it all went.

sorry i've not replied to everyone, feeling rather woozy and peculiar today. stuck in unable to do the shopping due to snow and ice so facing starvation as well as everything else!

McDreamy · 06/02/2009 10:56

Ignore me I am just feeling a bit sorry for myself

Did you hear the news about the lady who went into labour last night with twins? Now that must have been scary for her! 2 little girls born this morning I believe! Even the helicopter couldn't get through!

PinkTulips · 06/02/2009 10:59

bless, she must have been petrified! glad it turned out ok in the end though... what a story to tell the little girls when they're older!

Questionkid · 06/02/2009 11:17

Grrrrr, I'm now officially the latest on the thread and no sign of any movement. The sweep did nothing whatsoever. I even resorted to sex last night - nothing, nada, zip, zero. I'm sending DH out to get some pineapple today, might as well give that a go. I'm at that stage where I think every single little twinge or ache might be it, and then it goes away and I'm back to normal.

I've got a horrible feeling I'm going to go right up to induction (not til 15 Feb).

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

Congrats to everyone who's had a baby since I was last on though!

LittleMissNorty · 06/02/2009 11:21

Morning all

Finally got a few minutes and have caught up with you all - my god, there was loads and have read v quickly. Love the birth plan MOS

Thanks for all your good wishes and congratulations.....things are pretty hectic here, but we are slowly getting used to it. Night one at home was awful....but last night DS went from 10-4 then 4.45 - 7.30, so feel a bit more human today. DD seems to be ok so far....she needs to learn what the word "gentle" means, but she is doing really well and loves being included by "helping". herb we do exactly the same feeding thing here...DH does a late feed and I sleep and do the night ones. Keeps me sane.

Second baby syndrome going on here - only day 2 and no visitors . when DD was born, we didn't have a single day to ourselves for the whole 2 weeks DH was off. Just building up the courage to ring MIL and have her stay for a couple of days next week

congratulations to all the new babies - I'm loving the names.

Hope the snow isn't causing too many problems.....we travelled to hospital 7am Monday morning in masses of snow....I was so releived to get there and see that there was enough staff to deliver me......McDreamy...hope you don't get postponed. What a PITA. My MIL lives about 2 mins from SM....perhaps she won't be able to get here ..

Right - will do birth story soon. going to go and find a couple of pics to upload to my profile so you can see how lovely my new baby is smile....but you can't smell how lovely he is - I had forgotten how lovely newborns smell. Will put some of Fb later on.

idontbelieveit · 06/02/2009 11:21

BTW the moby d sling is great for mumsnetting, LO fast asleep in it as i type (two handed!)

McD - the only useful thing from the pre op was that i felt less nervous after talking to the docs and anaesthatist and they took bloods to check iron and type just in case. Other than that it was a total waste of 4 hours waiting for various staff to come and see us.
I got the antacid tablet in the morning on the ward so don't worry too much if you miss it.

Neeerly3 · 06/02/2009 11:24

hi all, congrats to all the new babies and mummies!

I'm on tender hooks today - DH is taking the DTs down to his dads after work later so they can stay for the weekend (DH is coming back tonite too), but FIL is 2 hours away and thats without snow, am fretting that good ole sods law will kick in and I will go into labour while he's there! Not due for 2 weeks, but you know how your mind plays tricks on you.....I have very strong period type pains, pressure in my bum and the urge to clean the whole house!

My sis and her partner are coming up tomorrow with a load of hand-me-downs so I have planned a baby shower/girly night in with my local girlfriends too - hope sods law don't fook that up too!

Right, must go and strip the DT's beds, throw the hoover round and collapse in front of Loose Women!

katieblirdsnest · 06/02/2009 12:16

I've started maternity leave at last so may actually be able to spend a bit more time on here.

I've been so manic at work the last few weeks trying to get everything sorted and handed over properly. Not helped by DD's nursery being closed for 3 days this week! Anyway, I've bundled her in today and plan to spend the rest of the day lying around with a book or TV. I've been dreaming of this day.

Congratulations on all the new arrivals.
Good luck to Rosie and MrsY if you're in labour.

littleboyblue · 06/02/2009 12:53

Hello everyone.
MrsY Thank you for taking the time to text yesterday.

We have just got home, both boys are asleep for now.......
Dp has taken my dad home so am all alone and not sure what to do with self.
Luke is doing well and eating lots (ff), the midwives at hospital were all lauging at him taking 2oz every 2 hours!
Back later to catch up am sure there are lots more new arrivals I don't know about yet.
Hope you're all well, those with newbies, hope adjustment is going well and those still waiting, hope aches and pains and bp's are staying low.....

lardybump · 06/02/2009 13:33

afternoon all.

Congrats LBB glad Luke is doing well....

MrsY hope all is ok...

Rosie hope all is well with you as well....

dinkystinky · 06/02/2009 14:29

Afternoon all. DS napping so can get on while catching up with my Buffy the vampire slayer (odd how I started watching it when on mat leave with DS - and now am on mat leave its on again when DS is asleep so I can catch all the episodes from the last series I missed when went back to work - hurrah!). Apologies in advance for mega catch up post....

IDBI and LMN - hurrah for little ones letting you get some much needed kip in. Hope Herb's little girl, Swampy's little man and MsLucy's little man and Onward's little man are taking note! Herb - hope your little one has put weight on. I agree, I'd like to come back as a man in the next life too! DH was complaining to me this morning about having terrible stomach cramps (he was out drinking and having dodgy burgers with mates last night) - I was sympathetic but reminded him I have those times 100 to come shortly... *LBB - welcome back. We've missed you. And CONGRATS again on the safe arrival of Luke.

McDreamy - re the snow causing chaos for you and poor Calico. Hope both your DH's are ok in the snow and am keeping my fingers crossed it disappears over the weekend so all remains on track for McDreamy's csec on Wednesday. Sounds like the lovely ladies on this thread have given you some good advice re what you've missed out on today anyway.... Calico - that sounds really crap re your nursery . Hope you get the work done that you need to.

MoS - have fun at the sports day but hope that sandstorm holds off! Honestly, its storms galore at the moment...

Questionkid and KT - honestly, as first timers, PLEASE put all importance of the due date out of your mind. You both know your bodies are starting to get ready for birth - so use the extra time you get to yourselves to do nice things (haircut, massage, watch dvds, read books, have lie ins etc - all those things you can not do with a newborn) and put all worries out of your mind. If weather improves, long walks will help move bubs down - and of course there is the RLT, evening primrose oil, pineapples (you need to eat all of it - and LOTS of them - on an empty tummy if poss), hot currys etc to try out if you want to try all the old wives tales (and reflexology and accupuncture too).

Neerly - hope your DH's drive with the DTs is ok.

Pink - sounds like your body may be getting ready for Kung Fu Panda's ejection. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. And hope the snow and ice dont cause any issues if Kung Fu Panda is on his/her way out....

Katie - congratulations on starting maternity leave. I agree it is just not the same when you have a toddler in your face the whole time, but really quite lovely to not be at work...

Snow is currently turning to slush around our area (which has now soaked all footwear I can still wear!) so am keeping fingers crossed it all disappears v soon for everyone. Managed to make it out with DS for his long overdue haircut with my old neighbour and we have a play date with NCT buddy today which should be good as she's pregnant too with no 2 (due in March).

rosieposey · 06/02/2009 14:49

The snow has stopped now thank goodness this is prob it till the deed is done so will let you know v shortly of he is a whopper or not hope everyone else is ok - wonder how mrsy is getting on

idontbelieveit · 06/02/2009 15:05

Hey rosie, same thing happened to me. I went in about 3pm in the end. At least the boredome helps the nerves. (well i found it did anyway).
Ask them for IV fluids if you don't go in the next hour though. Good luck!
