Here's hoping more of those babies take the hint this time round!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cocodrillo · 02/02/2009 21:59

Oh dinky, one day of snow was bad enough (old curmudgeon that I am), two weeks is too too much.

MrsY · 02/02/2009 22:25

Yay swampy!

Good luck MS and lbb!

Still no news from lardy or pempe?

McDreamy · 02/02/2009 22:36

Thanks for the reassurance IDBI seems to have eased off now. You're probably right, pulled a muscle or something while playing/lifting one of the DC.

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 02/02/2009 22:46

Ah heck, I have no chance of catching up on what went before, so here goes four pages!

Rosie, I think Tink is a little weather vein, I?m convinced she ?knew? it was coming. When they went to Malta she was really well all week then started wheezing when they stepped off the plane, so I think the weather does add to it.

I?ve been sitting here all day being grateful for already having my baby and not having to be in during this weather. On the other hand the cold is having a bad effect on Tink but it is probably not a good idea to take her out in it. We were told she could be home if she can go four hours on ten blue but she went two hours between the last two and an hour later she?s still wheezy.

MOS I?d ask if they can dose you up on cough medicine, I?d be (I was!) paranoid that I?d be coughing when they were trying to put the needle in

PT is your mother normally like this or is she having sympathetic baby-brain?

KT I had something similar in labour with Sîan, she moved back-to-back, it could be baby getting into the right position.

Congratulations MsLucy, LittleMissNorty and Swampy, can?t wait for the pictures!

MrsY, it?s worse when they have short hands! I was always pleased when a tall doctor came to examine me; I was so sore the one time from someone?s knuckles digging into me on the outside as they tried to reach a little further!

Has anyone else noticed that so far we haven?t got many modern names, all lovely of course but none of the really popular names? I love it!

Nkweto, you?re a loon!

I HAVE CABIN FEVER!!! I?m about half a mile from any bus, which is too far for me to walk. If it was closer I can?t push the pushchair. I can?t get a taxi because I can?t carry the carseat.

ihavenewsockson · 02/02/2009 22:57

Congrats all who have had their babies!!

i'm feeling very large and very jealous.

How's everyone else doing? any twinges? will we be having some labour threads this week?

Here's hoping!

pluto · 02/02/2009 23:03

Hurrah for today's babies and good luck for tomorrow's

Only thing is - it means that the who's next list is getting shorter and I feel very nervous about this!

eejaykay · 02/02/2009 23:07

Congrats to all the new mums and babies, how exciting! Really great names. And good luck to MS and lbb for tomorrow too.

All good here - I didn't even try and make it into work today although I now feel really wimpy for not wanting to do a two mile walk in the snow to the tube station after hearing about Nkweto and Kt's adventures. But I can work remotely and it was too nice snuggled up here.

Hope everyone who can stays snug and warm, and everyone who can't stays safe and dry

rosieposey · 02/02/2009 23:20

Firstly huge congratulations to Swampy on the birth of Jacob! Hooray that you made it in and he made it on this snowy London day LLB and MS good luck for tomorrow Will be thinking of you both.

Snow here too - not so its over a foot deep like in Surrey or London but Swindon actually looks pretty in the Snow The roads are all gritted and passable - just want it to stay like that now.

Have been to DAU - they advised me twice to stay in as ive had two hypos in 24 hours and it seems that my BM's are all over the place I convinced them otherwise as i knew id be in for over a week by the time i got out after my section next Monday. Have promised to take Bloods all through the night but hey its better than going to stay in hospital any longer than i have to. I have to go to DAU tomorrow, Weds and am being admitted on Thurs so its not like im not there every sodding day anyway! They also reiterated that there was a strong chance that as my lo is so used to higher blood sugars that he will probably have to go into SCBU for a while whilst he is hypoglycemic (cant spell it) but i am hoping against hope that isnt the case - maybe no more than a day or so anyway - i hope not as my last DC was a week in there and really struggled. Its weird i keep thinking that i will have him and he will be with me straight away but i suppose i need to take a short stay in special care into consideration as they keep reminding me. Never mind fingers crossed eh? Lets hope he is very keen to stay with his mummy on his first night in the big wide world.

McDreamy hope your pain eases up - but if it doesnt get it checked out ok?

TBM i know you must be bored but at least your in the warm and Ive kept DD3 off today as she was wheezing when she woke up this morning and the last thing i wanted to do was excacerbate her condition as it is sooo cold out - i know the prendisolone should kick in anytime now so hopefully if i bundle her up and instruct her to stay in at lunch and break she should be ok for school.

idontbelieveit · 02/02/2009 23:40

yay swampy! Congratulations.

Good luck MS and LBB, soon you too will be babymooning just like me!

mumoverseas · 03/02/2009 05:19

morning all. I don't know, I go to bed for a few hours and there are three new boys on our thread!
Congratulations LMN, MsLucy and Swampy, so glad you made it in after all (you must have been starving so an extra well done for surviving all day) Such lovely names. Am relieved that no one has pinched my DS's first name yet but his middle name is proving very popular

Good luck today MS although I do feel for you and your poor mother who must be gutted about missing it.
Also good luck for LBB today (I think?) and elkidee (sp?) who I think is also imminent.

Nkweto, you are insane and should definitely be sectioned after that walk and I don't mean a C section

TBM, hadn't thought about the coughing when shoving needle in my spine I have another 5 days til CS so hopefully cough has gone by then but woke up today full of a cold. WTF! its around 25 degrees here (sorry to rub that in)

Suddenly realised that I've not done a birth plan and in fact didn't the last two CS's. Hadn't realised that people did for a CS but really liked one that was on here the other day (sorry, can't remember whose it was, baby brain!) To be honest though, I'm not sure how much notice they'd take of it here as they have their own rather silly rules but I might do one anyway, if nothing else to confuse them and maybe delay them taking LO away as soon as he is born. They have stupid rules here that babies are taken straight to the nursery and usually they stay in the nursery all the time the mother is in hospital, only being returned when the mother has visitors. Yeah, they can F* right off if they think they are stealing my baby. Twats!

Off to see my consultant in an hour so fingers crossed he doesn't mention his cash 'tip' and we won't be put on the spot.

Hope everyone has a good day and we have a couple more arrivals today

spottyshoes · 03/02/2009 07:27

Congratulations Swampy - whoop whoop as you say . A whole day without food when pregnant! You're one hard woman

Rosie, pleased you dont have to stay in all week but it sounds like you practically are anyway Finger crossed your l.o wont need SCBU.

Good luck with the greedy arsehole consultant MOS

Just looking at the list of names, I have to warn you that I will upskittle the balance if my l.o's a girl as we are going for Mercedes Chardonnay [poker face]

rosieposey · 03/02/2009 07:35

Morning all

Very bad night here im Woke up at 1 15 having a really really bad hypo - worst ever 2.4 when measured and i dont know what i would have done without DD1 and DH as couldnt see or sit up or anything - did think it was going to be an ambulance job but started drinking lucozade and took approx 10/15 mins to get it back up to decent levels again. Am pretty sure that this means that when i go in to DAU this morning that i will be admitted as they did warn that one more and that would be the case but you never know the doctor when i finally see him today might just adjust my doseage - i hope so but it seems that i am needing less insulin now which is a sign of placental deterioration so am taking my suitcase in IYSWIM. Will have DH's iphone but its hard to type on so will lurk for news and try and make some short posts as will be sooooo bored in there!

Well good luck for the new arrivals today - will be thinking of you both (and anyone else if they manage to squeeze in a baby! ) Hope your cough gets better MOS too!

Everyone else hope you are all relaxed and ready for your lo's - take it easy in this rubbish weather (its like a skating rink out there!) Am personally glad that DH is taking his paternity leave two days early now - think he is just going in for a couple of hours this afternoon to tie up some loose ends and thats it then - no more commuting in this horrid weather for three weeks! Take care all xx

MrsY · 03/02/2009 08:11

Morning all -

rosie sorry to hear of you drama last night. i know the feeling re: DAU, especially the arguing to be let home! hope it can be sorted without you being admitted.

mos here's hoping he doesn't mention it. it's a shame there is no 'contract' so that if you agree one price at the beginning, it has to stay at that price.

My stupid fucking neighbour has once again decided to de-ice his car by chucking water all over it (which of course goes everywhere), and as it is -5 outside, it won't take long before the shared drive is an ice rink. Which is great when it's a slope and I'm 37 weeks pregnant! Bloody idiot. Surely a little common sense isn't too much to ask.

mumoverseas · 03/02/2009 08:12

I'm back and am much more positive. The greedy arsehole/consultant didn't mention any fee although I panicked a bit when he gave me a form to sign as thought it would be the money one I'd been warned about. Read it very carefully (thats the lawyer in me I guess) and it was just consent for the CS and nothing about money so that is good. Have an appointment to see the anaest (drugs man) at 6pm on Saturday and then have to be in the ward at 8am Sunday.

Rosie, that doesn't sound good. Why would your levels have dropped so low? do you have the slow release insulin at night? When my mum stayed at Christmas her levels were all over the place, from around 2 to 3 in the morning to late 20's in the afternoon. Bloody crazy.
Good luck with your appointment today. I know it will be a pain if you have to stay in but at least you'd have the reassurance of being in the best place (and not needing to battle through the snow in an emergency)
Am very jealous of your DH's paternity leave. My DH has one day, the day LO arrives

spotty, love the name, assume she will have to go to private school with a name like that? [wink}

littleboyblue · 03/02/2009 08:33

Morning all. Am running so late, am supposed to be at hospital now !
Just wanted to let you know we're going in and hopefully he'll be out sooner rather than later!!
Goodluck to everyone else going in today and of course any spontaneous deliveries .
Not sure when I'll be back on as don't know how long have to be in hospital and no doubt my parents will be here when we get home, but will catch up when I can.
Haven't read any posts here since last night, so if I've missed anything exciting etc, sorry for lack of comment.
I've already cried this morning, and thrown up (TMI) not sure what that was about but feel better for it!!

Bye for the next few days.......

mumoverseas · 03/02/2009 08:42

good luck LBB,
I'm sure the throwing up is nerves. I'll be like that in 5 days!

McDreamy · 03/02/2009 08:43

Good luck LBB

DizzyBrummie · 03/02/2009 08:53

Congratulations Swampy!

Happy baby day vibes to LBB and MS

I'm with Pluto, the shorter the list of who's next list gets, the more nervous I get. DS was a CS at 41 weeks due to being an extended breech and I didn't get any BH or other labour signs just pregnant one day and a baby the next. I'm quite terrified of the whole giving birth thing

fruitstick · 03/02/2009 08:54

Good luck LBB, hope everything goes well

dinkystinky · 03/02/2009 09:12

Good luck LBB - am sure the vomiting is nerves; hope all goes smoothly and you're home again soon.

Good luck to you too Markstretch - suspect you're on your way in round now....

Rosie - am so sorry to hear about all your troubles... It sounds like being in hospital (where they can constantly monitor your blood sugar, placental function and if necessary whip the little man out) may be the best option for you today if they recommend it - so who knows you may be out alot faster than you think if you do need to go in. Hope the little one doesnt have to spend too long on SCBU - bet he will seem like a giant compared to the others on there (remember thinking that about DS when he was on there).

McDreamy - hope your shoulder is ok today.

Eejaykay - glad to hear you didnt try and battle it in yesterday; given how slippery it looks out there today, I'd definitely say today should be a duvet day too...

Finally, CONGRATS SWAMPSTER on the arrival of Jacob - am v impressed you went without food for all that time; bet you were hallucinating hamburgers by the end...

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 03/02/2009 09:15

MoS - glad the consultant didnt try to rip you off today. Have to admit, the post natal care out there sounds positively medieval; definitely write that post-birth plan to ensure you bring them into the current century

OP posts:
KT1983 · 03/02/2009 09:24

Congratulations to Swampster Glad to hear you & little Jacob are well. Hugs to you & your family x

Good Luck with your induction LBB ( Thanks Dinky [smile Looking forward to hearing more good news of another little arrival xx

MS Another good Luck heading your way xx

Rosie Sorry you had such a horrible night, sounds like your DH & DD1 are little stars looking after you.

I have my 39week appointment with Midwife today, am hoping the little lady might have made an atempt to get into position for birth - She was 4/5ths last week, def feel alot more pressure down there, so fingers crossed.
The walk usually takes 30mins - Think I need to allow a little bit longer today - Its like a bloody ice rink out there.

Be careful to all of you heading out today

mumoverseas · 03/02/2009 09:25

think I might knock together a quick birthplan and get DS to translate it into (broken) arabic.
It will be along the lines of

  1. no cash bung
  2. get baby out, let me see and give to DH (NO TAKING TO NURSERY)
  3. Let me have water within 0 - 60 mins of birth unlike last time when it was around 6 hours.
  4. Feed me within a realistic time and let me have bloody milk on my cornflakes the day after!

Think that sums it up nicely
oh yes, one more thing. tell the bloody nursery nurses not to come into my room on the hour every hour saying 'hello madam, has baby done a stool'!

dinky, I think a lot of the problems out here with regards to them taking the babies to the nursery is that this is what the locals, ie Saudi women want. As soon as they are born they simply hand them over to the philipino nanny and in the hospital they don't want to look after them so they tend to go into the nursery unless they have a visitor when they briefly show their little mohammed off then plonk him back in the nursery. Am assuming that as LO is (apparently!) a boy DH will get lots more congratulations in his office from the Saudi's as opposed to a few commiserations last time when we had a girl twats!
we WANTED a girl last time (and if fact I think DH did again this time and was a little disappointed at first when we found out LO was a boy!)

lardybump · 03/02/2009 09:30

Congratulations MrsY, Littlemissnorty and Swampy lovely names one and all......

Good luck LBB and MS for today...

I am feeling so fat and very I so want to meet my baby......

Went to gp and he had a look. Could see the discharge and took some swabs. I have to go back on Thursday to get results and any treatment... He was very nice and put me at ease so dont think it is anything major...

After my fall I am not aloud out the house unless dp is with me (at weekends only) as spd is making me far to unstable and cant risk another fall.... I want to play in the snow with dd.....

PinkTulips · 03/02/2009 10:07

congrats swampy... love the name, it was on our shortlist too

MOS.... my god, i think you've put me off ever wanting to set foot in RSA with your stories on this thread i knew the cultures were differant but it's mind boggling how differant!

TBM.... my mother is always like that. she announced a few weeks ago that i should pack a bag for the kids as it would be more convenient for them to go to hers than her to come here.... when queried as to how they'd get to hers she announced 'sure [dp] can drop them on the way to the hospital'....... erm, and i was getting to hospital how exactly? driving myself? she not the brightest and crazy to boot which makes for alot of mind boggling conversations!

good luck lbb, hope all goes well and lo shifts his ass quickly nce you induced

and good luck MS, although you might have your baby already in which case congrats

i'm bound to go into labour today as i arranged and appointment with a blinds fitter for an estimate at 2pm

on the plus side dp is in a good mood and has finally rmembered he needs to fix one of the castors on the crib

did i mention how crazy the local women are? another one of them is preg too and was on the maternity ward last week... while she was there she went down to the nurses station and asked them if 'pink from [our village]' was there

sorry you're feeling bad lardy... surely trundling out into the back garden very slowely to supervise the snowman making would be ok though? if you're like me you're as likely to fall in the house at this stage so you might as well go out and get some fresh air with dd
