So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

Oh come on, I cried during Doctor Who bloody Confidential last night. Just thinking of David Tennant going off and doing other things made me so sad...even though I've only ever seen about three episodes of it. Pathetic.

Hi scardypants - and congratulations, you worked on this for such a long time!

Nausea kicked in today and I stocked up on ginger biscuits, gingerroot tincture and crystallised ginger. I so hope I don't need any of them as much as I did last time.

blinder · 04/01/2009 19:41

thank goodness its not just me Undercover!

well DP had to go to borrow a flexible pipe unblocker from my mother because he clogged up the hoover (again!)
this made me well-up with tears.
still not quite sure why...

and I sent a furious and pointless email reply to an automatic mailshot today too.

Lots of tummy twinges tonight.

anyway, our list now looks like...

Trixie your sadness at this is perfectly understandable

Me too Bexaa- i want to feel sick as it is reasssuring! i heard that the pregnancy hormone doubles every 2-3 days so on that first day you tend to feel worse, then your body starts getting used to it/able to cope better so the sickness isnt as bad. That is what i am hoping for as ahvent been feeling sicky for 2ish days now!!! BRING ON THE SICKNESS!!!

undercovermummy · 04/01/2009 20:06

I feel totally bloated! I am slightly worried as to how big i will get this time as i was in maternity trousers at 6wks (obv the ones where you can adjust the waist)

Dh has joked that it could be twins this time as he had his palm read (not sure if i am a believer) when he was 16 and it said he would have a boy and a girl (which is what we have) and then a set of twins!

detoxdiva · 04/01/2009 20:16

Hi all - no symptoms here yet....didn't have any with dd so trying not to get too worried, but did do another pg test today which was +ive just to make sure!! I have booked an early scan for 3 weeks time when I think I will be around 8 weeks - just need to know asap that the pg is developing as it should after my mc in Oct.

scardypants · 04/01/2009 20:28

Hi everyone, thank you for the lovely welcome

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one worried about not being sick! I still have slight cramping and that's a little worrying too but I'm trying to relax. My due date is September 2nd.

I love mumnset, there's nowhere else I could say I want:

  1. to feel sick and vomit
  2. to take several trips to the toilet a day and even during the night
  3. to be constipated
  4. to have mood swings
  5. to have really sore boobs
  6. to have a funny taste in my mouth ....without sounding like a nutcase!

Guess I just have to be patient and hope and pray.

Hope you're all feeling sick really soon (meant in the kindest possible way)

kookykid · 04/01/2009 21:39

Welcome scardypants (great name!). Sorry you had a bit of a scare with the possible EP but glad it looks OK. I'm due on the 2nd too. How do you work out that you are 6 weeks on Weds? I thought I was 6 weeks today - I was wondering if I'm counting wrong by counting from 1st day of my LMP?
(Cramping is apparently the uterus stretching, and lots of us have had it - so try not to worry!)

I am also stupidly over-emotional - I got all choked up at bloody 'You've Been Framed' of all things. Pathetic!

undercovermummy - eeeek! AT DH's reading! That would really have me worried!

Have Sunday-nightus and know I'm not going to sleep well. Am dreading going back to work - my boss is a complete cow. I don't think I will tell anyone and luckily (!) have a cold to cover up feeling crap. Does that make any sense??

GracieGirl · 04/01/2009 21:45

Hello!

I've got 24hr "morning" sickness now and well as low blood pressure (90/50), bizarre sense of taste and smell, I also feel quite bloated - Bexaa, thats a good way of describing it - like you're expanding inside! I've just worked 75 hours in 8 days so I'm knackered - got to do something about the amount of hours I'm working - its not good!

Had to admit to my boss about being pregnant today after very narrowly escaping being punched in the stomach by a patient(working in A&E is a nightmare!). I think i'm going to have to make sure someone on every shift I work knows I'm pregnant to help me avoid the A&E nasties.

scardypants · 04/01/2009 21:51

Hi Kooky,

I'm working on 40wks from the first day of my LMP which was the 26th November. That was a Wednesday so I'm 6 weeks next Wednesday and due on Wednesday 2nd September (aren't I )

Shit, I'm going to check. BBin a minute.

kookykid · 04/01/2009 21:56

scardy I used this website. My LMP date was Sun 23rd Nov and my usual cycle is 31 days. Admittedly this gives slightly longer than 40 weeks from the 23rd Nov, but I presumed this was because I OVd on CD17. God, do I sound obsessed or what??! CAn you tell I was ttc for a while?

Gracie - you take it wasy in A&E... sounds scary. Definitely tella s many people as possible if they help look after you. I wouldn't hesitate in your position. I work in a school so don't have quite the same need!

GracieGirl · 04/01/2009 22:02

Kooky, yes I think you're right - there's no point me keeping it quiet in case I have a miscarriage, if keeping it quiet is going to increase the chances of miscarrying.

napa · 04/01/2009 22:07

I'm only lurking at the moment but wanted to advise a bit about EDD's. Traditionally the due date is worked out by Nagel's rule - add on 7 days from LMP then add 9 months. If your cycle is longer than 28 days add on the difference (e.g., 35 day cycle, add another 7 days), if your cycle is less than 28 days subtract the difference.
Scardypants by this you should actually be due 3rd September, but your right that the wednesday 2nd is 40 weeks from your LMP, that why a lot of time now health professionals use a wheel/calendar to calculate 40 weeks from your LMP instead of this rule.
No wonder we're all confused and everyone gets different EDD's.
I'll be lurking until I feel brave enough to join (mmc last year!) so hope to 'see' you all soon

kookykid · 04/01/2009 22:13

napa that's really interesting about Nagel's rule (nearly typed Napa's rule!!). Fingers crossed for you and hopefully see you here when you feel ready.

Night everyone!

undercovermummy · 04/01/2009 22:14

I now believe that the term 'morning sickness' is totally wrong. In all 3 (still feels weird saying that) of my pg's it has been 24hr sickness. Not actually sick, just that horrid nausea And what's more this time i seem to be off........ Chocolate...... noooooooooooooo!

Gracie, i think it was a wise move to fell someone especially as you work in an a&e dept.

Kooky, yes the cold cover up does sound good. Especially if you are looking and sounding snotty

I left my job about 6mths ago to go back to college and help dh with his company and am not looking forward to spending 7hrs 2-9pm there tomorrow. I am eating little and VERY often so will have to make sure that i take plenty of snacks.

Off to watch tv for a bit before bed.
Night x

scardypants · 04/01/2009 22:25

Thanks napa

Hope to 'see' you here again sometime.

I'm off to my bed, work in the morning and I can't wait (there should be a sacastic emoticon)

Chat you all soon. Night night.

scardypants · 04/01/2009 22:27

sarcastic

Is not remembering how to spell a symptom?

Night night again

TrixieBelden · 04/01/2009 23:22

Am already soooo bored with feeling sick. And it hasn't even been a week.

GracieGirl - I so admire A&E nurses; you have to put up with SO much crap. Stay safe and well, please. I has 24/7 nausea and super-low BP throughout pregnancy no. 1 and fainted all over the place. Not good. Don't do that.

Off to the gym tomorrow to make an appointment with lovely trainer to come up with a plan to stay active over the next few months. I'm hoping (futilely?) that it will stave off the sick a bit. We'll see...

Night!

HellHathNoFury · 05/01/2009 09:44

Morning All!

BFP last friday... EDD Sept 3rd... Moved house 3 days ago, better go find a GP I suppose

Have a DS already, born June 2007.

LittleRascal · 05/01/2009 10:55

Im feeling sick today !

welcome HellHathNoFury! i see you have been a busy girl!

Glad all looks ok scardypants. good luck with your scan this week. Shame about hyperemsis last time- my friend had that and struggled her whole pregnancy. its putting her off haveing no 2. So holding thumbs its not as bad for you

Napa- thanks for the info! lurk some more if needed but we all here to be your support thru this anxious time. (think a couple of us have been in the same boat). Good luck though!

becaroo · 05/01/2009 14:14

Oh my god, just seen this thread

I was where you are now a year ago and now have a beautiful 3 month old baby boy who I am besotted with! (as is his older brother)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Best of luck to you all (sob!)

blinder · 05/01/2009 15:04

well I know my ovulation date so that makes me due on 3rd Sept (kooky's website - cheers dear), which corresponds with what the midwife said over the phone.
But it is MY birthday on the 1st Sept so I hope it comes a little early and I can still be 35 when its born...

still no sickness for me. getting paranoid now. If anything I feel LESS pregnant than last week .

welcome new Expectants!

LJ29 · 05/01/2009 15:13

Hi guys can I join? I got my BFP last night and was very excited but 2 hours later started spotting. It appeared again today but is only very light and is red/pink in colour. TMI- balso seems quite watery and soaks into the tissue. Got a docs appointment at 5 but as I am only 4+3 I don't think he can do anything. By my dates I think I am due on the 12th September if someone can add me to the list please.

GracieGirl · 05/01/2009 17:14
